Go here for their deep fried calamari...a plateful of battered and panko breaded calamari rings served with sweet dipping sauce. If I were to get anything here, it would be just this. Really good!
Good For: deep fried calamari
For the price, this is the best Thai food on the east side that I have tried. The lunch specials are very reasonably priced and you get a small salad and a huge main dish. They also serve some interesting Thai alcohol.
The food, service and ambiance of this place are absolutely outstanding. A menu with great variety - served fast and fresh. The people working there are as friendly as it gets. they remember you from your last visit, are attentive (but not annoying) through the meal and ensure you have whatever you need to make the experience wonderful. And save room for the fried bananas - served with mango ice cream. Must be tasted to be believed!! You have to try this place - lunch and dinner are both geat. You will not leave hungry or disappointed.
This Thai restaurant is very good, much better than the Thai Kitchen that previously occupied this site (near the bowling alley and Starbucks). I actually posted a review of Uma after our first visit but posted it at the old Thai Kitchen site.
Today we went for the second time, tried different dishes and they were excellent. The manager or owner? is a talented and caring young man who is obviously trying very hard to serve good food and offer good service. I think he is succeeding. All the food we've had is very well prepared, tasty, and well presented. The setting is modest, but don't let that fool you. We don't usually have dessert, but today we had the fried banana! Yum. Decadently Yum. The crunchy coating is made from rice flour, coconut, and sesame. It is thinly drizzled with honey. And it is served with ice cream on top of orange slices. See the picture that I posted. If you like Thai food (and who doesn't?) try Uma Thai. And do save room for the fried banana!
