If you are ever into history or just the history of the area in which you grew up in or live in, especially in the St. Louis area, then Ulysses S. Grant's home, White Haven. Grant's home is very interesting to visit. There you will learn more about the man who was the 18th president of the United States and you get to learn quite a bit about his life that you never really got to read about in the history books as school.

The White Haven house is neat because it is not what I ever really expected to see. I always imagined Grant coming from some large home on some kind of royal looking estate. Even though Grant's home is by no means a small little cottage, but visiting his home gives a nice insight into one of the most important people in America's history.

This is worth the trip if you like touring historic buildings. Since it was the middle of winter, it wasn't very busy and we had a "private" tour. I highly recommend seeing the informative background video before the tour. The people who work there are very well versed in all things Grant and love to share as long as you're listening. There are a few buildings to tour and there will soon be an extra barn full of more Grant history (they said hopefully opening March 07). I can't wait to go back to see Grant's Farm (sort of a zoo) which is right next door.
