Avoid the second level.

This place is pretty action packed and fun, and it is a great place just to be active for 15 minutes for 7 bucks. It has a second level which is pretty nice, and the scenery is dark and very neon. Not only that, but the place gives you a name from a famous show or movie or comic. As I recall, red is South Park characters, blue is Star Wars characters, and I forgot what yellow was.

However, the mist inside is pretty overwhelming, and for those who have asthma, you are likely to get an asthma attack, a HUGE asthma attack. Plus, the restroom looks like a 70's nightclub, but it smells like someone burnt some rubber in there or something. Also, games can be boring if the game you're in is packed full of people.

Here's some tips:
Avoid the second level, it's usually infested with opponents.
Attack blue and yellow bases, red is too near the ramps of the second level, which as I said, is infested with opponents.
Hide and crouch, I also advise some running(Even if the supervisors dont want it.)
Careful with the disco ball near second base, it will pause you for 15 seconds.
If you happen to go to the second level, head to the ramp that doesn't twist and turn.
Do NOT call a truce with one team to attack another team, it wont work.

Since this is the only laser tag center that I know in San Diego (because Boomer's laser tag FAILS) This place gets 5 stars.
7 bucks for a 15 minute session that feels longer that it really is.

Fit people have more of an advantage because of the fast pace walking (since you can't run but people do anyways) and sudden crouching. You will sweat and this place does get hot since there are 15 people running around, sometimes hiding (those cheaters).
This place will get you SORE after the next day.

Two stories of Fun FUN FUN
Wearing all black doesn't help you out since you'll wear a suit of FLASHING LIGHTS. Haha my friend didn't know.

I have yet to enter in the 1 hour endurance session this place has.

Ultrazone is suuuuupper fun!  Excuse the fact that I am a hyper active teenage girl...

Anyways, I'm pretty sure that Ultrazone is the only legitimate place to play a game of lazer tag.  The place is HUGE, with two levels and three team ' bases'... along with other fun game aspects.  Each game is $7, for 15 minutes I believe.  Worth it every once in a while.  Fun stuff.

Maybe I just live under a rock ... but this is the best laser tag place I've ever been to!!

The set-up of the place is great. The big "alien." The different levels. The mirrors. The fog. It's fun.

This place is great. Trust me. I do a terrible job and get a terrible score every time, but I still find this place a blast.

This past Tuesday night I played Laser Tag for the first time and I had a blast! (Hur Hur I made a pun.)

The staff (and players) at Ultra Zone were super friendly. All of us newbies were sat down just before playing and shown how to wear the gear, use the gun and given the spiel on rules. Most important rule?  NO RUNNING. Seriously, if you do run you'll get hurt. It's dark and foggy and a lot like a haunted house maze.

Honestly, I didn't pay much attention to map during the info session but it did have lighted points to indicate the entrance and emergency exits, where to find the bases and sentinels. Maybe next time I'll give it a closer look.

I played on a team of three against two other teams of three. Each team was assigned a different color and their gear was lit accordingly, either red, yellow or blue. Individual gear packs had a pre-assigned player name for identifying scores at the end of the game. (I was "Towlie" from South Park.) Each score card shows your rank by accuracy, overall points, etc. It even tallies how many times and where you hit other players and vice versa.

My friend and I opted to join opposing teams so we could compete all stealth ninja like and we totally blasted each other, ran into walls and were generally schooled by the more experienced folks. We are sooo going back again! Thank you Ultra Zone for cheap and awesome laser tag adventures. :)

Oh! And the Chuck E Cheeses next door is kinda a rip off. They didnt even have Wack-A-Mole or Air Hockey. Boo on them.  Just stick with the laser tag. It's far superior in good times.

The first time I ever went lazer tagging was last month for my friend's birthday. There were about 16 of us running around the game field with no idea what to aim for (even though we spent 10 minutes in a laser tag lecture room with lighted map to guide us) and sweated buckets.

That was round one.

Round two was two nights ago. We planned our attack and tactics and we all placed pretty high in a game of 44. From 6-17.

Something about laser tag just gets you all pumped up. Because I know it's definitely not the lovely arrangement of techno music blasting through out the playing field. Or the dang military snipers that tag you from I don't know where..It may be the instruction of yelling "GAME MASTER!" when there's trouble.

The team player names are pretty funny too. What I'm getting is that one team is South Park, another are Super Heroes, and the other is Villians. I've now been on Super Heroes and Villians. Rogue and Darth Vader. They just added Sylar to the Villians team I wanna be Sylar...but wait, isn't he supposed to be a good guy on Heroes this season?

We always go for the late night games. After midnight, games are $5.50 as opposed to 9-12. They're open til 2am on the weekend. Which is convienent because even if you said, "Hey, let's go to laser tag" around 8pm, bum around, and then go, you have plenty of time. hehe

I'm not one for "adventurous/physical" games like laser tag, but my boyfriend has convinced me into going a few times. I have a few issues with this place:

Pros:
If you're extremely hyper, it's good to get your energy out
You are assured your blood circulation and reaction times are still in good function.
All those carrots your mother made you eat as a child enhance your vision in the dark
Fun date spot to challenge your boyfriend/girlfriend/friends
Inexpensive

Cons:
Terrible mix of temperatures: half freezing/half hot
Smells like nerd sweat
Crazy little kids who run under your feet during the game

They have a good midnight special price and it's got a pretty large community of regulars in here.

I think my favorite part of this place is the names you are given on your team and how the anticipation of seeing how bad I sucked comes up on the screen for all too see. 1.7% accuracy and proud of it!

Ok, so the party went well.  The pizza and cake were not so great-but what do you want for a kiddie oriented party, and there was certainly enough food for all.
Laser tag is fun, and they assigned a hostess for our party that helped us out (we even got to change the music station for the building) They stayed open a little late for us so we could finish up our party- all in all a good experience.
Pro-Tips:  They expect a tip-so factor that into your planning.  Also if you are splitting costs between friends GET THE CASH UP FRONT-it will prevent last minute flake outs, and you being stuck with a bill for them.

I don't care how far this place is from where I live, this is the BEST place to come to for laser tagging!!!

I love the different teams that they have here and how they try to keep all of your friends together. The two story laser tag arena is full of two sentinals (the bad guys) and 3 team bases that you want to try to "shoot up"

It is awesome here and they have such a nice and friendly staff here that are always willing to help you out with you are in trouble!

I admit I've been in a funk lately, with that said thank you for my special friends that surround me and make sure we get a good workout. After my mishap on Cowles Mountain (yesterday's review), my friends came over and told me they had a big surprise for me which included exercise but no mountains and guaranteed to make me have a good time. "Come on, tell me" I said.  "No, because you won't go" they answered.  "Puleez" I said back. "Come on Tina you are wearing this" Lisa said. "Combat boots and my camouflaged shorts" I stated.  With that said I got up off the couch, got dressed, and we drove down the 8 to Rosecrans, turned right on Sports Arena and pulled up outside Ultra Zone Laser Tag. Now I can tell it's going to get good!

We walked in, everything dark and screens all around. Apparently this is considered to be the surface level of the planet. We got in early before 4pm because we came in as a group.  Price was $7.00/game and we paid for two games each. I loved it that we each got our own zone aliases to commemorate feats of bravery.  My name was "Lady Death" I already felt empowered by my new name as I walked into the vesting room to gear up for my debut. Already sporting my combat boots and camouflaged shorts, my laser vest matched perfectly. Being a fashion diva I was proud of the appropriate attire and how it all matched up just right. After our final instructions the doors flung open and we entered the multi-leveled Ultra Zone.  Fluorescent lights, hidden passage ways, ramps all around as our goal was to score points by hitting targets. Chest 200, Back 100, and Shoulders 50.  You can try to get the opponents bases and score 2000 and if you get tagged your pack goes dark.  I really didn't care about who or what I got, all I know is once inside I was tagging people left and right while jumping off the ramps from one level to the next.  At one point I took a flying leap from one high block to the next located about 20 feet up and did a spin out front roll as I tagged the person down below. "Oops sorry M, didn't know it was one of ours" Funny how a person can get into role playing real quick with all the props everywhere.

It seemed the game lasted for 30-minutes.  I was actually thinking this would be a great spot for a Yelp Event.  There is a huge party room in the back which could hold a few hundred, and talk about a workout while having fun.  "Lady Death is getting her groove back while she does both.

This place is crazy! It was only my second time playing laser tag when i came here, and needless to say, I placed SECOND to last:( sadness. But  still, the course was so intense. There's a total of two teams, and seriously during the playing field, everyone just shoots each other and laugh and more shooting and some screaming. Seriously, this place is very fun and it's probably the closest GOOD laser tag place to la jolla.  Also, the waiting time isn't that long, and there are arcades there that you can play while you wait:)! The price is actually pretty cheap too, 5 dollars or 6 for a game of 15 minutes. We played two games that night and then we head on out to in and out burger next door:)

what a funnnn night:)

A couple years ago my friends and I spent about a month's worth of Friday nights getting drunk and playing Laser Tag here. I know, I know. We were by far the oldest people there, and we got some grief from our other friends who we called but declined our invitations/challenges, but we didn't care. We were secure with our coolness. And if we wanted to play some laser tag we were going to play some MF-ing laser tag. Okay?

Okay. So this place is rad. They have a cool arcade (where I saw the most amazing Dance Dance Revolution performance the world has ever known) and they arm you and let you loose in a huge two story room full of walls, ramps and blockades. The Laser Guru Guy says no running, I say Yeah. Right.

As far as I know, this is the only real laser tag arena in all of the San Diego area.  Now I don't really think you can compare laser tag and paintballing as it's really not comparable.  A game of laser tag is $7 for 15 minutes of 3 team competition while paintballing requires equipment rental, paintballs, player fee, more chances of getting hurt, etc.  Don't get me wrong, I love paintballing as well.

What I've didn't expect here was three laser tag teams.  There are up to like 36 players in the arena at any one time and three different bases to attack.  It's gets a little hectic because I've never played with 3 teams but it does add a lot of excitement.  The arena is huge so it doesn't even seem like 30 or so people are playing.

What is so baller too is this alien guy who randomly shoots out laser beams and you have to hit him in the eyes to make him stop shooting laser beams.  You get a bunch of points for that but hitting the opposition bases is where the real points are to be made.

My girlfriend and I had names Scarecrow and Gollum respectively, but there are a bunch of other cool names I wouldn't mind being like Juggernaut, Venom, or Mystique.  Got to go with the Marvel characters!!!

Final note: You got to watch out for those little hobbit sized kids.  You don't realize that they're like two feet tall and by the time you look down, they've already hit you.  Tricky, tricky.

Great way to sweat your balls off! Fun place to waste a half hour, then go to In-n-out right when your done. Recommendation: bring a beverage. This is one of the few places like this in San Diego, so enjoy it. If it's your first time, or your first time in a long while don't worry about what your supposed to do, because you're not going to "win" anyway, some of these kids spend their entire allowance to be a pro-laser-tager, just have fun with it, and shoot the fat girl with the uber-bleached hair that glows in the black light. You may be tired and exhausted after your first time, but some weird kinetic pull will have you wanting one more trip through the course.

Laser tag was fun back in the day when I used to do it, Now i play Paintball.  Back to laser tag it's fun to do when you have nothing else to do and if it's late.  They don't close until I think 2am so like I said its something to do if you don't have anything else to do and if it's late.  The place is a two story place, you can fire from up stairs to down stairs or from down stairs to up stairs but its hard.
