Haven't been back to Denver since I moved, but I am extremely happy that Ultimate Electronics went out of business.
They finally got what they deserved!
To you, John Learn: retail and business is just not your thing, you need to spend more time in sales at Circuit City and get some higher education, buddy!

Well, UE just worked its rating down to 1.
I received this today: "
"My name is John Learn and I help run this company [UE]. I bet those people who you think are morons are actually really smart. We train them to do reflection selling. In other words they act like an idiot when speaking to an idiot. Garbage white goods? Just because they are way out of your price range doesn't make them garbage. Overpriced HDMI cables? We are not the flea market we are Ultimate Electronics not Poor Mans electronics."
Oh, wow! Awesome customer service there, John.

I actually bought something here.
We wanted a Blu-ray player and wanted instant gratification.
Got that at Ultimate.
But, the place just gives me the heebie-jeebies. The layout is strange. The sales people range from knowledgeable to complete morons. The white goods selection is garbage.
And, just like Best Buy, they only carry stupidly overpriced HDMI cables. -

I went in here to buy some extremely expensive HDMI and fiber optic cables, and some other stereo stuff. They're just unreasonably expensive cables, but this place's prices were fair.
The service was stellar. I had someone greet me at the door and then kind of follow me around the store offering to help out with things. But he wasn't high-pressure at all, I think he was just a little bored and very motivated to help someone. I was a pretty easy sell too, considering I walked in with a shopping list. Best of all, he helped me find something better and cost less than what I was originally looking at.
By the time I left, he gave me his card, told me to call him if I needed help setting anything up, and then carried the stuff I bought out to the car for me. -

I'd like to give them a better review but I'm just not impressed with the selection or the prices. The sales staff does go out of their way to be helpful and they do have a big display of used DVD's for $10 - although most of them I'd never heard of. Out of a huge wall of TVs we were unable to find a single 42" plasma model - strange.
I hate to admit this as I usually like to support local business but I don't see that UE offers anything that you can't get online (http://Amazon.com) for a lot less money. -

I just bought a HGTV from Ultimate. The sales guy told me what I wanted to hear and was respectable enough. But when I came back to the store 20 minutes later after running my family home (so i could take the carseat out), the TV was sitting on the sales floor opened. He told me that was customary now for them to examine the TV for any cracks, scratches, etc. and that they would give me a 10% off OPEN BOX discount because he found that the bag with remote/cables had been tampered with.
IS THIS COMMON? what the??? I feel like Best Buy never opens a TV box before selling it ( or the customer walks out the door with it)...so why would they?
anyone one else have this happen?

I have been in Ultimate Electronics twice and both times was treated like a child...or a criminal..maybe a child criminal.
The first time I went into the store was to return an item that was gifted to me without a receipt. The service desk employee all but straight out accused me of stealing the item and trying to return it for cash. She was so rude I vowed never to go back into another Ultimate Electronics again.
Then my husband received a duplicate video game as a gift so we needed to return that. This time we had the receipt so we figured it would be no problem to return the item and exchange it for something we didn't already have. NOPE. SORRY.
Since we didn't return the item WITHIN 30 DAYS OF PURCHASE, they refused the exchange. Yes, they still carried the item and yes, it was unopened. However it was store policy and that's just how it goes even though it is not printed anywhere on the receipt stating such a policy.
No one was even willing to listen to my husband for an exchange. Just a big fat NO, get the hell out.
Shame on Ultimate Electronics. These were small items. I would never, ever, NEVER buy a large ticket item at this store for fear if something went wrong with it after 30 days of purchase, they would just tell me tough, you bought it, it's your problem now.
HORRIBLE STORE POLICIES AND CUSTOMER SERVICE. -

The staff was not knowledgeable at all!! You have to have a college degree to work here? They should go back to college. Even Best Buy took the initiative to look up what we were talking about instead of having blank stares. We will not go back there.

When is this place going to go out of business? Not soon enough for me. I have put it on my list of places I will not enter. I don't care if I have to drive miles and miles out of my way or buy online I will not give them my business.
They provide no value whatsoever unless you like high pressure sales and a bad selection of overpriced crap. Yes they carry expensive HDMI cables and if you do even a tiny bit of research you will find that they don't perform any better than the less expensive ones (it's digital now not analog).
Their Park Meadows store seems a little better but I haven't been there in a while either. Just not much need these days. Thank you internet for saving me from sleazy sales people. -

I was searching all of Denver for about 2 weeks for some home theater speaker stands to no avail, when I stumbled upon UE. I was impressed with the customer service, they greeted my entire family, took us to there selection of speaker stands and they even walked it out to my car whcih was wasn't neccessary but it was a good touch. Not my go to place, but I'll always give it a looksee if I'm in the area, or having a problem finding something.

Functionally unable to deliver an appliance. INCOMPETENCE AT ITS WORST!!
I bought an appliance last week. The sales rep stated that it would be delivered Friday. Never got a call to schedule the delivery. Spoke to Customer Service ("resolution center") who said it was not ever scheduled. Spoke with the store, who scheduled it for next day, stated I would get a call later in the day to confirm delivery time for Saturday. Never got the call. Spoke again in late afternoon with Customer Service, who said that it would be on the truck - he had confirmed that with delivery, but I should call back in the evening to verify. I did so, was told that verification was not possible at night, but i would get a call in the morning. Never got a call. When I called, learned it was not on the truck.
Going to get my money back today. Don't bother spending money there - what an incredible waste of time.
