they dont have a huge inventory, by any means, but ugly luggage is a great place for vintage homestuffs.

i expected the prices to be exorbitant as it is in brooklyn, in wburg and right on bedford ave, but i was pleasantly surprised.

i bought some really bang up juice glasses (a set of 6 cost me $24) and the most incredible light up globe ($80). the guy working the joint was super helpful and nice and even knocked a few bucks off my purchases just to be nice. and paying with cash i think helps on that end as well.

I'd heard about this place from my cousin, who lives in the 'ol Billyburg, and honestly wanted to go because the name of the shop was funny.  It was kind of a glorified Salvation Army, which I'm okay with, because I like Salvation Army.  It was very much the kind of place you have to rummage through (you can make an afternoon out of hunting through this little place).  The prices are pretty much what you'd expect of a place like this, ie, a little more expensive than they should be, but not crazy, but they definitely have some cool stuff.  I got some awesome wine glasses here (that I drink juice out of, just to use them more often), and a really awesome/sort of creepy bird statue.  But it's true, you definitely have to buy something the minute you find it.  I still sadly recall the locket I should have bought, that I took a day to consider and then lost out on.  NEVER AGAIN!

This place has some cool things, but I felt like a lot of it was overpriced. It's a pretty small store too... That being said, you can definitely find some interesting things here to accent your apartment, provided you're willing to spend a bit. The few times I've visited, there were some interesting pieces of furniture, as well as some neat knick-knack type things. In addition, they have a lot of vintage dishware and glasses. Another neat thing I noticed was they had this bin with old pictures in it for $2 a piece (I think that's how much they were). I didn't sift through it enough really, but I'm sure there were a few gems in there.

They don't have too much space, but you get a lot of bang for your buck here.  Their aesthetic is bric-a-brac, grandma's attic, alcoholic uncle's basement bar American 20th century.  There are usually several pieces of furniture here but what I like is the glassware in the back.  It's like someone went through the kitchen/dining section at Salvation Army and pulled out the good stuff for you.  Yes, they really do have some ugly luggage for sale, which I think would be good to use for storage chests.  The prices are on the cheaper end of all the furniture/decor places.  The staff is eccentric and wonderful.

I made my way to Williamsburg for this store and was kinda disappointed. I don't know if my expectations were too high, but it definitely did not live up to them. It wasn't bad, but it seemed like a lot of overpriced stuff (not junk, cause that's too harsh, but not anything that great either).

I bought my first piece of furniture ever at Ugly Luggage back in 1995 or 1996. I walked past this place every day from my apartment on S. 2nd to the subway. Great selection, especially when you consider how tiny the shop is. I miss that retro 60's dresser; I ended up selling it before moving to the west coast. Now that I'm moving back to Brooklyn I am going to have to check out what Ugly Luggage has in stock - good to hear that they are still around!

I have a someday house and someday I will actually be able to purchase stuff for my house or apartment. I love Ugly Luggage because it is crowded with random antiques and old stuff. I admit it. I love looking through junk for that one gem. Ugly  Luggage is a pack rat's dream. It's crowded, dusty and full of stuff no one really needs but feel like it would be so cool to own like an old school camera that doesn't even work to vintage records and of course some ugly luggage! I would love to give a home to some of the stuff at Ugly Luggage because I know there are a lot of items here that can give your decor that unintentional "pulled together" look. Sometimes you gotta think out of the box and shop at random stores like Ugly Luggage. What you are looking for that you didn't know you are looking for is out there and it might be here at Ugly Luggage.

WOW!
This place is awesome! It's a Little hole in the wall place with stuff stuffed and piled everywhere. I had to walk through it at least 4 times just to think I was finally noticing everything that could be found.
They have a great selection of vintage furniture, home accessories, jewelry, artwork and more more more cool stuff!
I personally found a bunch of killer psychedelic rock posters and they were dirt cheap, especially for New York! Great kitchen wear, lamps and trinkets. The prices  and customer service were fantastic!
GREAT SHOP!!!!

I am one for out-of-place things and I dig this store.  I've walked away with a few purchases before and they're all sitting in my apartment, looking out of place and weird.  And that makes me smile.  When people come over, they smirk at them.  "WHERE did you get this...and why?" they ask.

Looking for furniture that is slightly used, but beautiful and unique? Ugly Luggage is the place to go. With a very fast turn off rate, you'll always wander into the store to see something new like antiques (cameras, globes, typewriters, knick-knacks of various sorts) to actual pieces (couches, desks, end tables, lamps) from the 40s all the way through the 80s.

As I said, there's a fast turnover so, if you see something that catches your eye, buy right away. It might not be there the next day!

This place has lots of attractive junk and an attractive store manager, Jack Martin.  Whenever I stop to gossip with him, I can't help but be lured in by the assortment of funny old lamps, suitcases, kitchy pictures on the walls and pretty kitchenware.  It has everything you don't need that's fun to blow cash on, plus some things you do need, like a coffee table with a built in chess board.

My apartment barely has room for ME, let alone more furniture, but I cannot help but pop in here every now and then to browse.  The dishes in the back are especially fun, as are the lampshades, old suitcases and vintage food tins.

If something strikes your fancy, it's probably a good idea to buy it on the spot - things come at an amazing rate here; I was quite taken with an antique globe*, but when I returned the next day, sadly, it was already gone.

*Probably a good thing - I don't earn enough to be buying antique globes on impulse!
