After I finished my burger I almost wanted to get another one.  I don't know how else to describe my feeling after coming to this restaurant, except just "happy."

The menu is great, and there are tons of suggestions for type of burgers on top of your build-your-own category.  Also, there are some additional daily specials that you see on a chalkboard.  Both me plus girlfriend chose specials off the board and a side order of onion rings.  My double-patty burger had bbq sauce and sauteed mushrooms and banana peppers.  Her single-patty had sauteed mushrooms and onions, bacon, and special sauce.

Definitely looking forward to bringing my roommates here, and also trying the tiger sauce!  I asked the employee, and he said it was a horseradish type one?

I must say I like UBurger's burgers, and their shakes are nice, but I can't justify spending the money here. For such a pricey lunch (~$10 for a burger + fries + drink, or ~$13 with frappe instead) I expect a little something extra, something fantastic. What you get at UBurger is something that's certainly not bad, but not terribly impressive.

I can never quite figure out whether I love or hate the onion rings - lightly battered and spindly things, not the mammoth inch thick things I'm used to.  Their fries are fresh, and quite tasty, but I wouldn't seek them out over other more interesting offerings (I've had gravy fries on the brain for the last month or so - Trina's will do this to you).

Burger options are plentiful - my standard is the Cowboy, cause I love BBQ. Don't get me wrong, it's a good burger, but the bun gets quickly soggy if you're getting your order to go, and the whole thing feels a little flat.  The chicken was the same, quite tasty, but ultimately dissatisfying.

If you're nearby and want a fast, tasty burger, by all means, check this place out, but there's really no reason to come to Kenmore just for this place.

UBurger is such a GOOD CHEAP eats place.  Great quality beef and fresh ingredients.  I've had my fair share of good and bad burgers and I think UBurger beats Mr. Barletys in Cambridge...hands down.

Being located in the heart of BU their price range is just perfect.  Not too expensive and their service is fast and quick!  While you are i there get a side of fries to share and a vanilla shake.

UBURGER!!!! I moved right as they opened the one up near Allston which is a bummer but the one time I went here it was a great burger! Sweet, juicy, good cheese, well cooked bacon, tv on, even good fries! Very studenty place as is it right near a couple BU dorms but it's a little expensive...It could maybe be 2 dollars cheaper.

i wish i worked where i live so i could eat here for lunch more often.  $8-9 gets you a burger, onion rings, and a soda, a value superior to most of my usual lunch spots, and also has the benefit of not being in freaking Maynard.

The burger was a solid, satisfying size without being overwhelming.  Overwhelming can be had for another dollar.  The cheese and the bacon were both tasty and noticeable, and the bun was satisfying, in that it didn't stand out any more than it should.  The onion rings looked a little dodgy, but had a surprising bite to them.  Spicy, somehow, and yummy.  Very fast on a Saturday at lunchtime, efficient and friendly.

Now i need to find an excuse to work from home.

Best fast-food in Boston.  Have been frequenting UBurger since it opened. Burgers are ground fresh, daily. Yes, I recommend getting the double patty on any burger. Everything is made to-order, and you can see the staff cutting your fries.

My go-to:
Cowboy Burger (wheat bun goes well to offset bbq tang)
Grand Slam Burger
*Fries - ranks in top 5 fries in Boston. Hand-cut, fresh, mild flavor allows you to tweak the seasoning to your own taste.

Other:
Onion rings - so-so.
Chicken sandwiches - good, fresh, juicy.
Frappes - love the oreo frappe, pretty sweet though (not recommended for diabetics)
Veggie burger option - friends say good things.

Great place to catch the game, small seating area, not good for large groups.  All for ~8 a person.

Food (5/5)
Service (5/5)
Value (5/5)  Perfect fast food restaurant rating.

i decided i had to have a uburger.  granted, i had never heard of uburger before that very evening at the foundation lounge until someone mentioned that it was right across the street, and it had some pretty decent burgers.  granted, i was hungry because i didn't have dinner yet.   and granted, this was after a few beers.

i managed to convince a couple of my friends to join me in wandering across the street to uburger.  i felt like i was walking in a fast food joint, similar to a mcdonald's or an in-n-out burger, and ordered one of their burgers with fries and a diet coke.  i don't remember what burger i ordered, i just remembered that it was a pretty decent hamburger patty [one patty equals two mickey-d patties] and it had BACON on it.  delicious and gone.  the fries were skinny little crispy things.  i think i prefer mcdonald's or in-n-out more.

i do hear that they have fabulous frappes.  and i do read about uburger's burgers being of the best in boston.  it ain't no r.f. o'sullivan burger where it is more of a pub grub type fare [and that's a real burger], but for a fast food joint, the product isn't too bad.

I suppose, if you're in Kenmore and you want a burger, you COULD go to the McDonald's on the corner of Comm Ave and Everything.  If all you have is the pocket change that you beat up the panhandlers for, and you hate yourself enough not to care what you put in your body, then that's eminently reasonable.

But if you want a quality burger - freshly made, tastily dressed, served at a reasonable speed and for only a few dollars more - then cross the street and grab a bite at UBurger.

I still maintain that, on the axis of Price, Quality and Speed, you will find few better burgers in Boston than at UBurger.  Bartley's never blew me away; Four Burgers in Central is good but takes forever.  And I'm not paying $11 for a cheeseburger unless your joint has the words "Oak" and "Room" in its name.

Anyhow: really good burgers.  I'm not a fries or onion rings guy (usually), but I hear they're good as well.

I am a vegetarian who once got out of her car in a nor'easter, walked from wherever I was stalled to the Kenmore store location, ordered the "fat kid special" (veggie burger, fries, and shake) and trucked it back to the idling car. (I put someone else in the driver's seat on the offchance the car would move during this time.)

This could be chalked up to desperation after 5 hours in the car trying to get from Kendall Square to Brookline, but I'd rather it be counted as devotion.

Great burgers at a reasonable price, hands down the best I've had in Boston. I think the "double patty" recommendation is absolutely the way to go...especially if you're going to add all sorts of distractions (chipotle sauce, guacamole, bleu cheese) but still want to taste some beef.

For all you west-coast friends: UBurger can't quite compete with In-N-Out, but that's mostly because the In-N-Out house sauce blows the UBurger house sauce out of the water, and UBurger uses a larger, more spongy bun that changes the bun-meat ratio. I'd say the beef is just as good, and you can't get all those toppings on your burger at In-N-Out.

I liked Burgers but not enough to go to a restaurant just to eat a burger.  And if your restaurant only sells burgers, I stay away knowing I could spend that money on Annas, Panera...u get my point.

But things changed when I met my girlfriend who LoVeS burgers.  I first went to UBurger to show "care, respect and love" for my lady, if you know what I mean...but inside, i'm saying to myself...why the freak am I here, paying money for some burger....

-Fries and Onion Rings...man, I could eat em every day until I die.   Well, I guess I'll die real fast if I do eat em every day but it doesn't matter.  it's worth trading 10-15 years of your life.  I'm dead serious.

-Burgers...superfantastic.  Unbelievable.  I thought I would never say that about burgers but my girlfriend changed my life.  I live in South Hamilton, which is about 45min north of this location and my girlfriend lived near BU.  There are only few things that will make me drive 45min each way: my girl (come on, bonus points...) and UBurger.

If you don't like burgers, first come here and then let me know.  If you like burgers, come and say hello to your new friend.

Maybe it was played up a bit too much, but I wasn't blown away by UBurger.

I was expecting a legendarily delicious burger that would easily get on my list of top burger joints in the city, and walked away with a competently made but not really remarkable burger.

Not to say they're bad - I had the Big Papi, generously topped with guacamole, chipotle sauce, cheddar, and jalapenos, and walked away quite satisfied. It's just that they don't quite manage to nail either the greasy, In-N-Out style of fast food burger, nor do they really compete with the thick, slow-made, sit-down burgers you can find at O'Sullivans, Bartley's, or (insert your favorite burger place here). Instead, it's more in the middle -- a smallish patty, medium-greasy, and they don't ask you how you'd like it done, instead cooking everything to a safe medium-well.

The onion rings were legitimately awesome -- they're the thin, stringy kind, lightly fried, not too heavy and not too greasy -- mmm! But a burger joint cannot get by on rings alone!

I'd stop in for a burger again and enjoy it, or drunkenly walk in here and really enjoy it, but I don't think it's quite a tripworthy burger destination.

Good good good good!
If you like Mr.Bartley's burger's you will L-O-V-E UBurger like I do. This has to be my favorite burger place in Boston. They have a great variety like other burger places, but they really take it to the next level. PLUS the price is just right! I asked for a Boom Burger without any meat or meat substitutes so they just charged me for a grilled cheese and separately for every item that would be found in a Boom Burger and it was still all under $4. The burgers are pretty small but they have a really great savoriness to them. I feel pretty dumb for ever having eaten at Mr.Bartley's after eating here; the quality of the burger is the same if not higher at UBurger, but it's $6 dollars less. The onions rings are the same style, but they give you WAY more. I really like their fries, and if you are going to get a frappe, make sure to try their black and white. I don't know if this can be misconstrued negatively, but I was full the whole day after I ate here for lunch. You get your money's worth and it is a fair deal. They give In-N-Out a run for their money.

From my home in Connecticut I thought I had had some very good food. However when I got to college and was trying out some (or as many as possible) of the local places. The resident's assistants in my building insisted on going to a place called Uburger. When I walked into this place I knew I was in for a treat.

This place is not only unique for it's names of burgers but the taste of the food is absolutely memorable!

These burgers are amongst the best that I have ever had. If the cholesterol wouldn't be sure to kill me I would absolutely eat this everyday! The chicken sandwiches are also excellent. I have yet to have anything from UBurger that does not meet my high standards for food.

I could tell by the line that the burgers must be good.  But I opted to get a chicken sandwich instead.  Normally I'm not a huge fan of chicken, but the chicken was moist and the seasoning was good since it was made to mimic buffalo wings.  And it pretty much did!  Just be prepared to get messy.  Definitely not a place for a first date, but more appropriate when you've been together for a little bit (mostly because you will get messy).

This place has great burgers! Definitely one of the best burgers in the city. I've been trying to find a place around the fenway/kenmore area that has a good burger and some onion rings, and I think that I found my fix. Good burgers and good onion rings. The onion rings are different that what I'm used to, but still good. They are very stringy and thin. I'd recommend the fries with vinegar before the onion rings.

At first I thought this was going to be a B.Good clone, but thankfully, I was wrong. This place reminds me a lot of Five Guys. It's a no-frills type of place, save for the two big screens tuned to local sports. They have a good menu or original burgers and chicken sandwiches with a huge selection of toppings if you want to go DIY. The burger and chicken were both juicy and delicious. The fries are reason enough to go. Fresh cut and wonderfully crisp, although lacking a little salt. Pour on the vinegar and smile.

The joint was clean, service prompt, and refills (including Dr. Pepper) were free. Look to spend about $7-8 for a burger, fries and soda. Definitely recommended.

The fries are real potatoes cut right in front of you.
The one in Kenmore has the owners work here sometimes. Good guys.
I've had most of the burgers and they're great. I like the stunt double.
For a perfect lunch, get an order of fries, an Oreo milkshake and try to order a Patriot Burger (roasted red pepper, blue cheese, tiger sauce, sauteed onions. It is the best burger you'll eat.)

I'm American, so I KNOW fast food.

If you go to UBurger, you have to consider your experience in relation to going to a fast food joint, cuz that's what this is.  Supposedly they're trying to with the in-n-out model of higher end fast food, I've never been to an in-n-out so I can't say how close they come.  But I will say that for not a whole lot more money than you'd pay at McDs across the street you end up with a substantially better food.

This is like the In n' Out of Boston, except not as good and twice the price.

5 stars - Big Papi burger - with guac, chipotle mayo, tomatoes, and jalapenos (replace jalapenos with banana peppers if you can't take heat, like me) - DELICIOUS.  My friend got it and it was out of this world for me, bursting with flavor and kept moist by the guac.

2 stars - Yuppie burger - swiss cheese, shrooms, and bacon. Sounds delish right? Wrong. It was dry and overly mushroomy. Both were about $5.

Their fries are my favorite! Fresh, crispy, and they have malt vinegar available. YUM!

The different assortment of burgers/chicken sandwiches are interesting, but not as well executed as I expected... the grease factor was WAY higher than I was hoping for. The chicken in the sandwich was a little dry, and some of the toppings were kind of bland.

Not a bad bite to eat when I feel like misbehaving food-wise, but the money's a little steep for what you're getting. I think if I'm going to come back, it will be for some fries or a frappe.

The burgers from here are great.  They aren't insanely large restaurant style things that you need a fork and knife to eat.  It's more like one up from McDonalds like fast food.  They start with a nice simple burger and then let you add all sorts of delicious things to it.

Wow, I haven't been so across the board impressed with a place in ages.

Burgers, all meaty, all cooked especially well and taste like real grilled burgers should

Grilled Chicken, slightly more  charred than I like, but nonetheless still perfectly moist inside

Salads, perfect blend of lettuce and toppings, great selection of salad dressings to complement.

Fries are okay, I prefer a steak fry, but that's cool and the onion rings are super unique in that they actually look handmade in house and have a really richly textured batter on them.

Shakes are great, Diet Coke is always fresh, never stale BIG PLUS for that.

Plus, it's across the street from work.

I am in love with this place. It's definitely a few dollars more than, say, McDonald's, but it is soooo worth it. I'm always willing to pay a bit more for superior taste and quality.

My regular meal is the Cowboy burger (jack cheese, bacon, mushrooms, and bbq sauce that I leave off 'cause I'm lame like that), fries, and the mint oreo frappe. Seriously, try it.

Service has always been quick and polite, in my experience.

Yummmmm

For those who have never  dined here, well i wouldn't give this place a sniff.....I came here last sun to catch up with a group of mates and i must say it was wasn't best of experience after so much hype...- The queue was long, the order took forever (sweet chicx sandwich) and a lil pricy...The sandwich cost me 5 bucks when you get the same sandwich at wendy's for a buck....This place is not clean and very slippery on the floor......
On a positive note the fries was excellent though . All in all i wouldn't break my bank to come here again.

When it comes to fast food and burgers, UBurger really IS "Above All Burgers"!  Period.  You'll pay an extra couple bucks, but its worth it.  It's all made fresh which definitely makes a difference.  The shakes are worth a try too!

The ONLY problem I have with this place are the trash cans?  It's almost impossible to get the trash in there without making a mess, especially when its busy.  Why wouldn't you just get a normal trash can with a wider opening?

My god.

How can UBurger only have 3.5 stars? How is that possible?

First: I LOVE burgers. Really, truly, love burgers. It's probably why I have these adorable love handles that I've been trying to get rid of for the past five years. I just can't get enough of the burgers.

Second: Coming from the West Coast, I've had what some consider to be the best burgers on earth: In-N-Out. And while they are good (which they are) UBurger is better. Gasp. I said it. Better than In-N-Out.

They have incredibly fresh burgers, just like In-N-Out, their fries are freshly cut and the onion rings are the best in the city of Boston. The shakes-sorry, frappes-are thick and delicious. For serious people, this place is a really wonderful burger spot. True, they don't have those massive patties that Eagle's has, but their toppings are really fresh, which is what I get a burger for in the first place.

Really, bottom line I love this place.

I love love burgers and am constantly on an ongoing quest to find the best burger in any city I live in. So I think that pub/resto burgers should be in their own separate category, away from the more fast-foody gourmet burgers. UBurger is definitely the latter fast-foody type (smaller bun, flatter beef patties, etc), more in the category of In N Out, Five Guys, etc. It's not as quite as good as those two but definitely the closest I've found in Boston in two years (Flat Patties was the most decent I could find before this one). Anyways, went to UBurger and really really liked it. I forgot the name of mine but it had grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon and cheese and it was juicy and flavorful without being tooo greasy. I also tried my friend's big Papi (guac and jalepenos) and it was also really good. You can also customize your own burgers with tons of topping options and sauces and add extra patties. The fries were really good too and overall, Uburger is a much better/cheaper option than Bartley's and other self-proclaimed 'best burgers in Boston.' I was still sort of hungry after, even after eating everyone else's leftover fries, so next time I think I will get a double patty :)

I stopped here yesterday before work because I knew I wouldn't be able to get a 'real' burger in the catering backstage at Paul McCartney... I got a mushroom/swiss burger with onion rings. The burger was delicious, but it's not huge, so I kinda wanted a second one, but decided not to indulge. Next time I will try a burger with more toppings. The french fries also looked killer. Someone went up to the counter and just ordered those! Overall, this place is great for a quick meal that costs less than $10.

As I walked into this burger joint near Kenmore station, I was subliminally assaulted by words beckoning me to get fries, onion rings, sodas, and frappes - all craftily painted in a quaint little circular recess in the ceiling which draws the eye. So the eyes go, 'Oooo, circular recess,' while the brain thinks, 'Oooo, fries.'

What a menu. It looks cluttered, but it's not too hard to navigate. You can get one of their menu burgers, or you could just build your own, which is a big plus to me. I don't know, there's just something about a build-your-own-burger option that makes me feel like there are so many possibilities at my disposal. Agony of choice, anyone? :)

The food is touted as totally fresh and never frozen, and when after you pay you have a seat and wait for your number to be called. Reminded me a lot of In-N-Out Burger in Los Angeles, minus the wannabe-Hardee's look. They even had a ketchup station where you got those nifty little paper thimbles and fill them with condiments from the ketchup pump.

The burger was ready in under five minutes, and oh man, what a burger. WHAT A BURGER. It tasted awesome. It was so fresh you could practically still hear it bray. The only downer was that was super-greasy, but that's a slight that is way over-shadowed by the succulent juices and barbecue sauce. When I was done, all I wanted to do was sleep peacefully.

The fries were good, but the onion rings were stringy and not very tasty, nothing like the ones you'd get at a pub or a bar. I'm avoiding them next time.

A burger is a burger is a burger - but some burgers are better than others, and UBurger is heart-cloggingly good. Certainly the order of the day if your day calls for more grease than a can of WD-40 and flipping a big "F-U" to your diet. I'd eat here more often if it wasn't so bad for me.

Just like a bad pair of tires can ruin a great car, a bad trigger can ruin a great rifle, and bad teeth can ruin a beautiful person, bad buns can ruin a great burger.

UBurger uses bad buns.  I'm not thrilled with the burgers patties either - they're thin and dry.  I like the 'build your own burger' concept the UBurger has going on, but when the base ingredients (patties and bun) are crap, you would put foie gras and truffle oil on 'em and they'd still taste like McDonalds.

good lord this place is awesome. I don't know what ya'll who don't like the burgers are talking about - they are BANGIN. Fresh ingredients, well seasoned... definitely 5 star burgers.

I dream about going back daily- i try to limit myself to once a week because I think thats all my arteries can take but it is fantastic here.

Make your own burger or choose one of their specialties. get a milkshake.

Cannot wait for the one further down on comm ave!

Full disclosure right off the bat: I have been to U Burger before, three times in fact, and have always liked it. I fully expected it to be among the top three burgers we've had so far, before we even went there in critical fashion. But I can't review places based on reputation from past experiences because that isn't fair. Maybe I had never tried to look for flaws or maybe I was just like every other red-blooded American because I just wanted a burger. But yesterday, U Burger just wasn't very good. We may return to places if there is a serious uproar about a low score, but I need consistency. I should be able to walk in to any place on any given day and get their best offering. Yes, I am looking for flaws because that's the whole point of this blog. We want the best, we're not just looking to be full. So based on yesterday and yesterday alone, this was a very average burger, and it kills me to say it.
First of all, the meat is lousy, and you can pour as much house sauce (in this case a mix of mustard, mayo and ketchup) over it as you want, but you can't cover up bad meat. Every place seems to boast fresh ground beef, hand-cut fries and limited use of freezers. Here, they only have freezers to preserve the ice cream. I dunno, maybe it's time to break out the freezers because this whole fresh thing doesn't seem to be working for anyone. You can say fresh all you want, but if the quality of meat is this bad, it might be time to take a different approach. Never mind how overcooked it was and completely dry, like a hockey puck. I realize that the true peak season of tomatoes might still be a week or two away, but the tomato is my burger was mealy and of poor quality. The lettuce was nice and crisp and the cheese fully melted. We had issues with the bun, however, toasted yes, but again of poor quality, perhaps something a supermarket chain might produce. We enjoyed the "hand-cut" fries, well seasoned and crispy and I had a Reese's shake to go with it all, which was nice, if unspectacular.
I like the concept, it's no frills, with not too many burger choices, not overwhelming and what they do offer is appealing, on paper at least. But I am tired of these In-N-Out clones, I know they are the best, but let's bring a new style to the table. There is only one In-N-Out for a reason, and by the way, they don't charge $10 for a combo meal. There is just no personality with the burgers at U Burger, some people may like the simplicity, but it's not for me.

I can't believe that I've lived here for two years and only just tried UBurger yesterday. Shame on me, because it's delicious! I had a BYO burger with a veggie burger, chipotle sauce, lettuce, tomato, pepper-jack cheese, fried jalapenos, and guacamole. The end result was one of the best burgers I've ever had, despite the fact that it was meatless. Crispy shredded iceberg lettuce, smoky and spicy chipotle sauce, fried jalapenos for a nice bite, and amazingly fresh-tasting guacamole all made the burger a winner. I also ordered french fries, which only come in one size and are definitely enough for two people. Oh man, those fries were perfection! Just enough crunch and salt. I love you UBurger, and I'll be back again soon.

This definitely needs more stars. As a vegetarian, I am so grateful for the veggie burger, available as a substitute in any of their burgers. My favorite is the Boom Burger. I am pretty sure it is a Garden burger, so that is not vegan, FYI.
The fries and onion rings are amazing and fresh. You never get that "old oil" taste. They take pride in what they do.

While I cannot comment on the meat patties, the buns and all other ingredients are fresh and always abundant.
The only time I was disappointed was when they were out of veg patties, so I got the Spiro salad- and loved it.

Lastly, the service. Fast, efficient and always super friendly. No weird looks for ordering a veggie boom burger. The restaurant and the bathrooms are always spotless. I often phone my order in and take it back to my desk, but lines haven't been an issue, I said fast, remember?
