The Battleship Memorial Park is a great experience for anyone who enjoys history or military related items.  The park consists of, the retired USS Alabama, still afloat with a small dam protecting it from the waves; a retired submarine, and at least a couple dozen static display military aircraft.

Admission to the ship & submarine is $12, but free for active duty military.  The ship was well kept and adorned with many plaques describing the equipment on board.  You could definitely spend 2 hours or more wandering and reading.   The  most enjoyable aspect was climbing to the tallest observation point aboard the ship and looking out over Mobile Bay and the downtown Mobile skyline.

The static aircraft displays are located around the parking lot and are viewable without paying the $12 fee for the battleship.  There are about 25 planes and helicopters ranging from WWII to the present era.

This isn't the type of place I'd like to visit again and again, but it was a great memory.  Arrive early because they close at 4pm in the fall & winter, and 6pm in the spring and summer.

I have to agree with Jordan, Battleship Memorial Park is a great experience historians/ military aficionados.   The decommissioned  USS Alabama, is a great self walking museum and the submarine was a real treat.

I went with some friends that were visiting from California and Japan and I had to sit and wonder what their perspective what was a floating death dealer to their countrymen.

Make sure you wear comfortable shoes and that you come prepared to spend the day leading yourself around.  Not all parts of the ship are accessible, but what we were ale to see gave us a insightful understanding of what it was like to be aboard this magnificent ship.
