We got U Like for delivery and I was really very pleased with it!

The sesame chicken combo is HUGE.  Like big enough to share or eat for 2-3 meals depending on your appetite.  I really liked the pork fried rice and egg roll (beware: it has meat), and would highly recommend!

The BF got cold sesame noodles (very tasty!), pork fried dumplings (also very good), and an order of wontons (meh...not as much...not crispy at all).  They also threw in another appetizer for free, which was really awesome!

Overall I would say U Like is a good value for what you pay, their delivery is quick, and I will certainly be ordering from them again!

This review is for delivery only.

Delivery time was pretty fast, ordered through Grubhub. The food was uneven. The spring roll and egg roll was good, but the cold sesame noodles were way too spicy. Sesame chicken was mushy, most likely because it got steamed in the container. Beef mei fun was decent.

The reason for 2 stars is because after the meal both my boyfriend and I had upset stomachs - he more so than I, so I worry about food poisoning, especially in light of another review on here with the same complaint.

I will not be ordering from here again.

Not good.  Just finished the food here and I feel sick. We've ordered delivery twice and the food is not consistent.  First time was okay, but they forgot the soda.  Second time was horrible, and they forgot the crab rangoon.

I ordered curry chicken lunch special both times.  The first time was not bad, so I figured I'd give it another try.  The second time, the curry chicken sauce was watery and clear.  That is not curry.  It tasted bland.  And the rice? Don't get me started.  What kind of rice is this? It's hard and has this strange flavor.

We also tried the cashew chicken and sweet and sour pork also.  Those dishes were just OKAY.

    Never ordering from here again.

It's cheap Chinese food. Your almost never going to go wrong. I came to U Like a lot more often when they were located where Sleepy's is today (96th in Columbus). They moved to 100th st so I haven't been able to stop by and say hello.

At one point they new me by name (which means I was getting to fat at the same time lol) the staff has always been very friendly and laugh a lot which is nice.

If your in the area and want a quick bite thats affordable it's your place to go.

Every time I order from one of those cheapo Chinese food places, I find myself regretting it later on. And then I inevitably do it again.

Happened again recently, when against my better judgment I called in a delivery order from the nearby U Like Garden. (The name of this place reminds of bar names in Africa: aka "The Best Place to Drink Bar" or "Happy Go Lucky Mr Friendly Bar"...)

Anyway, I couldn't pass up the House Special Chicken Wings ($4.50 per order or $5.50 with fried rice), for which you have the choice between Sesame, Honey-Glazed, Spicy or Generals! Very cool.

I opted for the General Chicken Wings and also added some House Special Lo Mein for another fiver. I must say this wasn't all that bad. The chicken wings were tasty enough and the noodles were average but still disappeared fast.

Do I like U LIke Garden? Indeed, I like.

Was happy with this place.  Finally found a place with decent quality of meat.  Many times I have been disappointed to order something at a chinese restaurant only to get fatty mystery meat.  This place actually had quality meat like I am used to from the midwest when I ordered the sesame chicken.  The only thing I didn't like was the egg role had pork in it, I like when they only have vegetables.  But, definitely the best chinese fast food I've had within a 10block radius.

My standards are pretty low for Chinese. As long as there is nothing moving in my take-out box, I'm happy. But...well, I ordered a lot of it because it was so cheap and figured I could subsist on the leftovers for a few days while I'm immersed in hateful homework this weekend. It was so cheap! But I ended up throwing away all the leftovers because I knew I wouldn't be able to bring myself to go through the trouble to re-heat and then consume the food.

I initially wanted to try the place because they have crab rangoons on the menu and they are so hard to find in New York and usually if you do find them they're crappy. No exception here.

I wouldn't say it was the worst Chinese I ever had (that award goes to Dragon Chef in Brighton, Massachusetts), but it was pretty bad. Just...not good. Would not order it again.

The food here is below average chinese food.  Very fried and lacking in flavor. Their wings are pretty good, but the chicken barely has any meat on the bones.  I like their hot & sour soup for $2 which is a good deal. My main pet peeve with this place is the two women who work the main cashier counter are rather rude and the poor atmosphere.

A text message conversation that occurred between my friend Anthony and I earlier tonight:

Me: It's not cheating on your Chinese if you've only had one true date and a quickie (delivery) right?

    Anthony: Actually...

Me: Shut it. I can't be held responsible if I don't know your answer!

Anthony: Hey you're the one fondling someone else's mu shu gai pan.

He's such a great friend, isn't he? A combination of my 12+ hour day and sheer laziness contributed to my walking into this place rather than seeking out my first Manhattan Valley mistress.

Unfortunately, she came with some baggage (of the random onions, carrots, and peppers variety), which tends to turn me off. Also, she may suffer from self esteem issues...given the attention-seeking name.

The sweet and sour chicken was somewhat soggy, which I did not appreciate and even the rice wasn't that great. Not that this is the worst Chinese food I've ever had...just not that good. I didn't even keep the leftovers, which is pretty telling for me.

Well, what do you expect for a Chinese takeout virgin (it just barely opened and has "Grand Opening" signs EVERYWHERE)? I even had to add it as a business on Yelp because it was not on here yet! Moral of the story? Cheating never pays.

Cheap crappy Chinese food. You know you love it, even if you don't admit it to your snooty hipster friends on the UES.  I know you. You'll order the dumplings, half lying to yourself, "Even if it's not the best, it has to be worth $5 for 8.". By the time you finish yelling your order into your cell phone, over background noise like the restraunt phone is located in the middle of a dance floor, you'll admit that you knew all along what your food will be like. And yet you keep coming back.

But no, really, this time you'll get good Chinese. I mean, you're even reading the Yelp reviews to see if it's any good, right? But after looking at about five places, the lies will start sounding like half-truth again.   After all, you're the type who reads reviews of Manhattan Chinese delivery places like you think they're distinguishable from each other by anything other than location.

But anyway, the General Tso's chicken is good enough, and they give you these free dumpling like things with a sour cheese inside. Minimum $8 for delivery (I guess it went up).

4 stars for deliciously light but generously large shrimp dumplings that look homemade and come in a plentiful 8 to an order with a spicy, salty, garlicky sauce for dipping. Fast friendly service. A clean restaurant that doesn't dissuade me from thinking of eating in when its crappy out. And, they have fanta.

I haven't ordered anything else, but I far prefer the dumplings here to East Dumplings on 106 7 B'Way. And if you can fulfill my dumpling craving, then you get 4 stars.

Big ups to this UWS/Manhattan Valley Chinese restaurant for joining Seamless Web. While quite a few of my neighborhood restaurants participate on the site, U Like Garden has a low $6.00 minimum for delivery. I tip extra for that convenience!

Most Chinese delivery food generally has the same bland taste, I've noticed, but U Like Garden does have a couple of stand-out items. I enjoy the moo goo gai pan (I order it a little spicy) and the kung pao chicken was decent.

Order from this place all the time. Reliable, clean and prompt. You know exactly what you're gonna get (cheap, overly salted, Americanized chinese food) but with all the sketchy little Chinese delivery places around NYC, it' s important to have a go-to joint you can depend on.

Its a cheap decent take-out Chinese place. I agree with most  of these reviews in that ok chinese is ok Chinese. On the plus side they have general's tofu and crab rangoon on the menu, which seems to be a bit harder to find in the delivery radius of the upper west side. Its still not as good as Ollie's, but is what it is. Oh and I would grab a menu with coupons on it, before you order, because if you spend $10 you get free crab rangoon, but if you spend $20 you get free general's chicken. The food was pretty greasy, but thats to be expected, this isn't health food. You kind of throw health out the window when you order breaded and friend cream cheese and fake crab wontons dipped in a sweet sauce. I ordered online and delivery was very fast as well, overall I'd probably order from here again.

Don't let the menu fool you - it's not really crab meat fried rice. More like "crab meat." The egg foo young was greasy and the bean curd with Szechuan sauce came with peas, which I guess they consider "mixed vegetables" because that's what they said was in there.  Lots of false advertising in the menu. I'm glad I tried it, but I'm not sure I'll order from here again.

This is U Like's new location. We just ordered delivery - Shredded Schezuan Beef, Kung Po Tofu and Vegetable Lo Mein. The Beef was so fatty it was inedible. The Kung Po tofu had NO veggies, None. It has some weird dikon or something and 3 (literally, I counted) peanuts. There was also no sauce. The lo mein was so greasy and the white grease was cold and congealed in the corner! Please tell me a good, not dirty Chinese place in Morningside.

Abysmal.  Desperate for good Chinese food in the sea of mediocre UWS Chinese I mistakenly tried U Like.

Barely acceptable - General Tso's Chicken (extra hot), white rice, wonton soup
Bad - beef w/broccoli, fried dumplings, fried rice
Truly inedible - Hot and sour soup,  Szechuan Dumplings (deep fried??)

with "u like garden" you get  a mediocre chinese food restaurant disguised as an accusatory statement about your interest in a garden

this corner situated chinese food restaurant is completely average. the staff was quite nice and portions were good but nothing huge.

price i felt was good and i would recommend watching for coupons. when i ordered i got a great deal because of the coupon on the menu - it couldnt be any easier

vegetarian options are good and you will find many options

This place has the most awesome name for a Chinese restaurant ever. The name is purposefully designed to lure a special type of customers: local non-Asians who have not the faintest clue what Chinese food, other than the fact that it is served by Asians who can't speak English.
These customers are shy creatures who do not like consuming unfamiliar food even though the Chinese restaurants they frequent only serve the same dish (sugar and soy sauce) topped with different permutations of chicken, beef, pork, and broccoli. This strange permutation of meats and vegetables gives the customers the illusion of eating authentic oriental cuisine.
If they are feeling especially ambitious, they might something other than General Tso's Chicken - their dish of choice when feeling just slightly ambitious, replacing their regular staple KFC and Jack in a Crack.
"U Like" is a testament to the strange nature of Chinese food in the US - a business bending backwards to embrace the perverse stereotypes held by its customers, in the vain pursuit of profits. These customers, in turn, embrace the stereotypes projected by the business, in the belief that the business actually serves Chinese food.
