This has to be one of the most underrated restaurants in the Chapel Hill/Carrboro area.  I think without a doubt, it has the best food of any bar/restaurant and it's all pretty reasonably priced.

I got a shrimp po boy sandwich that tasted pretty good.  It was a pretty good size portion, came with a lot of fries, and the best part is it cost less than $10.  If you want the best bar food in the area, come to Tyler's and save yourself some money at the same time by skipping over the other restaurants in the area.

I've only been here once so far but I definitely plan on going back. I had the chicken pot pie which was reasonably priced and delicious. The atmosphere was nice, not as hipsterish as other Carrboro bars so if you're looking for a night away from that scene Tyler's might be the place.

So Tyler's is definitly nothing special. The crowd is slightly lame, but i can see how this would be your thing if you disdain the hipper places in Carrboro. This is the go-to place for down-to-earth drinking and pool-playing in town.

I would say Tyler's is a bit more collegy than most bars in Carrboro and feels more like a Franklin Street bar. The window seats at the tables up front are nice for watching passerbys. AND they do have Lagunitas on tap..which is good in my book.

Oh man, when I used to work in Carrboro we had 'meetings' every Tuesday after 5 at Tyler's and they were awesome. There was little business to be had, but lots of beer and wings. Pint night meant that we could try the latest featured ale and get a glass to take home as well. I thereby amassed a rather huge and impressive collection of useless pint glasses (as I rarely stock beer at home and even more rarely invite upwards of 50 houseguests to partake). My favorite, by far, is the Chimay goblet.

Tyler's has seating at the bar, tables throughout, and a corner nook with some dorm-looking couches. I like it for lunch and I like it for bar-food. Good pizza, great quesadillas. An excellent selection of beer. And of course -- wings. Just say no to the fries, though; they're stringy and odd.

In a word, overrated. It took me a while to try Tyler's despite friends raving about it, but I think the most redeeming quality is trivia on Wednesday nights.

The beer is good, but overpriced, and the food is mediocre (and overpriced). Save yourself the time and go to Milltown down the road, which is essentially the same idea with cheaper food that tastes better anyway.

I've only been to Tyler's a few times, but each time has been exceptionally pleasant. My favorite part about Tyler's is the beer selection, not only in the bar itself, but they recently opened a bottle store next door where you can purchase rare bottles to take home.

For a beer over, the place is amazing. On my last trip we drank quite a few unique brews in the bar, and took home some even more unique ones to enjoy later. The triangle doesn't have that many places where you can pick up rare bottles, this is the only one I actually know of other than peace street market. Well worth a trip!

I have some friends that swear by Tyler's. I've heard claims of it being the best bar, burger, or fries in town. I keep looking for what these people see and have yet to find it.

I must admit that I'm very fond of the atmosphere. The bar has an airy, industrial feel that is coolly relaxed.

But, after trying a couple of their menu items, I've been unimpressed by the food. For that reason I'd have to categorize it as average bar fare and not much more.

Certainly a cool place to hang out, but falls short of the hype.

Aaaah Tyler's. I have lots of fond memories of this place. Not just because I've spent countless "Pint Nights" here with good friends, or because they have great pub food rivaling that found in the major cities in which I've lived, but because they have a stellar beer list. Seriously. Bottled and DRAFT. For the Triangle - it's a gem. Heck, even now living in LA, Tyler's still seems pretty special. They don't pump up their beer list with blah and ubiquitous beers like Stella, Yuengling, or Red Stripe - they have really good stuff. Think breweries like Dogfish Head, Magic Hat, or Rogue. If you frequent pubs for great beer with friends - this place is for you. If you go for a happening social scene - errr.... why are you in the Triangle anyways?

Even better - it fits into the Carrboro ethic of a locally owned business (much better than that flying saucer chain crap). The service has been good, and their peanut butter mousse pie? Amazing. What makes Tyler's truly great is the Speakeasy - their bar area a doorway away with pool and fooseball.

Best bar in Chapel Hill, in my opinion. My opinion takes into account the fact that undergrads have cooties and must be avoided at all costs. Also, I like fruity beers, and Tylers can accomodate that. They have lambics and pear ciders and weird beer mixers. They have manly beers too, in case you were worried about that.

Also, their hamburgers are pretty rockin.

Let's not forget that on Tuesdays if you get their special beer, you get to keep your glass. This is perfect for poor grad students who otherwise own no glasses and have to drink water at home straight from the tap.

Minus one star for making me wait more than 1/2 hour for my food the other night. I know they were busy, but really, everyone else got their food before us. It made me feel sad inside.

Yeah, awesome garlic shoe-string fries.   And, they really do have an impressive offering of beers, and a notch-above-the-frat-set theme nights, trivia contests, and the Carrboro location still has some amazing pool tables in the "Speakeasy".

Otherwise... all locations are loud, with really uncomfortable dining room seating, poorly trained servers (oh, I hope... otherwise they are just uncaring and inattentive by nature) and the food is hit-or-miss but rarely great.

Still, if you love beer, you'll find a great variety here, and the game-room and theme night settings are lively and can be fun.  So, I'd get a full meal elsewhere and then go here later for a beer and socializing.

**Edit:  Now that chef Matt Romatzick has left Azure to work at Tyler's (what?!) the food will definitely be worth another try... I'll update once I've had the chance to see what he'll bring to the table here...

Garlic fries and deep fried dill pickles....need I say more??!?!?! Because these were two of my favorite menu items at Tyler's, I really had to restrict the number of times I ate here. Always a nice treat, though.

i'm proud to call tyler's my local watering-hole. the beers are good and the food is almost better. my only complaint is that while they make some effort to rotate their beer selection, it seems like the menu rarely changes. and quite a bit of the time, they run out of the one or two brew that i really want. the last few times i've tried to order a rogue, highland, or lagunitas, the taps were just out. bummer. still, it's a fun place with good service and a relaxing ambiance. four solid stars.

I come here for the beer selection which is awesome and the rotate some of it seasonally.  Not the most comforable place, while the bartender is nice and helpful the wait staff isn't all that great.  Still the beer selection is outstanding, they give good recommendations and know what they're talking about.

I'm under 21 so I can't comment on the beer. I know, why did I go here? Because I got a pear salad which was completely awesome. Candied walnuts, enough said. And it wasn't that much more expensive than the more obviously collegy places on Franklin Street.

Nice beer room and pub food.  Better than Pub food actually.  They have a  good selection of beers on tap that rotates regularly and is stocked with beers from off the beaten path.  Great for lunch.
