Phoenix, AZ
I only found this place by happenstance. My husband and I were visiting Cali and we got a flat tire which led us to a discount tire and since we had to wait atleast an hour, we decided to walk to the strip mall across the street. Being a coffee lover/fiend, etc. I spotted the coffee sign as soon as it came into view. I went in and ordered an Iced Hazelnut Latte with one shot of coconut in there too and when the girl asked me what kind of milk I wanted I said "Uh, not fat milk I guess, I'm normally Vegan but I don't feel like having Soy Milk today" (my assumption came from that I thought all coffee places only had the soy option for Vegans) and she said "Oh, well we have Almond Milk and Rice Milk too, I would recommend the Almond Milk to compliment the Hazelnut", I replied with "Cool! Let's Do It!". I Loved the latte so much, I made my husband take me there the next day when we were leaving Cali so I could get another Hazelnut Latte and thank the awesome worker again for making the pain in the butt situation of having to get a new tire on vacation seem not so bad when I was sipping THE BEST ICED HAZELNUT LATTE OF MY LIFE!!!
I hope and pray that they will expand to AZ (FInger Crossed!) -

WHOA! I wanted my dose of Two Spoons during my visit home, but the space seemed vacant. Is the business still there (undergoing construction) or is it gone forever? Say it ain't so!!

I came in around 6 40 AM. The lady running the show was very friendly and welcoming. The ambiance is very home like, a miss match of furniture, book shelves with lots of paper backs to read. There was also a fair amount of outdoor seating.
I ordered a cappuccino and some oatmeal. Both were decent, but not great. The cappuccino was 95 liquid marked with a wee bit of dry foam. Some people may love that style of a cappuccino, just wasn't my style. I should add that their to go cups are GENIUS. Built in heat sleeve thingy. I loved that. The oatmeal was just microwaved oats, and it lacked and real flavor or good texture. I would have rather Quaker instant oatmeal. Too much water in mine. Ohh well.
My buddy who happened to go to 2 spoons later that day really enjoyed his experience all around. So perhaps I just stumbled upon the off order. -

I came to this little coffee shop while waiting for an oil change, I was going to go to the local Starbucks but I'm glad I checked this place out instead.
Two spoons is a nice little place tucked away in the tj max strip mall, it's small but has a very homely feeling inside and 5 tables for outdoor seating. The people here were very friendly and make sure to ask how you want you coffee so they can make it just right, I was very happy with my visit here. The only thing I wish they had was a bit more food, the pastry display was running low, but they do have gluten free items, if your into that. -

Stopped in today for the first time, needed some pastries to bring to a meeting. I found out about this spot here on Yelp!, and I had no idea that there was a rockin' local FAIR TRADE coffee shop right around the corner from my house!
We ordered a number of baked goods (but unfortunately they were for clients, so I only got to taste the acai bar which is GOOD). I did notice that they have coffee available in both Chemex & french presses...nice! I also noticed a guy working on a computer, and I look forward to hopping over there to get some work done.
The owner was there (gah! forgot his name)- super friendly and genuine New York native. I loved that they have the NYT available to read- hello where can you find that in San Diego?
From the minute I set foot in the cafe, to the owner helping me carry my pastries to the car, I couldn't say more about 2Spoons- I only wish I had known about them earlier! -

Recent 2spoons convert. They make it easy to support local businesses. They're cheaper(a small = a medium at SB), and their coffee is just better tasting than Starbuck's, sadly Starbucks is the standard of comparison when it comes to coffee. I feel like coffee shops like these are the skeleton of the community: they support local artists by spreading art/music awareness on a local scale in ways that corporate establishments can't.

Tried this place as it's on the way to my sons school. Didn't even realize this place was there for a long time since it's tucked back in a traditional strip mall. Went in and ordered a simple coffee, pretty good stuff. I tend to like a bolder flavor but still smooth and this pretty much hit the spot. The guy who helped me was very friendly. I'll be back with the fam to hang out a bit next time.
Not sure why it's called 2Spoons though - nothing spoony about the place, maybe a bit forky but definitely not spoony. -

This is a cute, cozy place to visit. For my first visit, I give it 5 stars. They do have plenty to offer, pastries, on the breakfast & lunch menu. As for the the drinks, I want to try the many coffee and tea specialties.
The service is friendly, the place is clean, it has a warm and cozy feeling, this also meaning, close seating.
Today I had a Carmel Macchiato, and an American breakfast (scrambled egg, ham & cheese) on a bagel. Both were very good. As I sat in the cozy chair enjoying my breakfast on a Saturday morning, there was a steady flow of people getting to-go orders.
I would surely come back to try more things on the menu and to enjoy the comfort of the cozy chair again. -
Review from Marc T.
Was craving coffee and we just happened to be staying in oceanside. Rather than go for the standard Starbucks or Coffee Bean, we searched for random coffee houses, and we found 2Spoons, which markets itself in a similar way to some of the shops I've been to in SF.
Caramel Macchiato - very good. nice coffee taste with a quality creamy finish. The ingredients were both blended well yet had distinct tastes, which i really liked
Dark Mocha - This was just OK to me. I could not taste the coffee at all. (tasted more chocolaty, similar to spanish hot cocoa). Next time, I will ask to lower the sweetness of the drink.
Mediterranean wrap - Was very good but it seemed that you could make it at home. However, there was something about it that was very nice, considering that it was made by someone else. Presentation-wise, it was perfect, and the wrap was stuffed full of greens and had a nice humus spread along with goat cheese crumbles. The chicken was perfectly warm.
I will definitely hit this spot again the next time I'm in O-side, -

SCORE!!!
I think I just found my favorite coffee house. The hell with Peet's Coffee and Starbucks, who? It's all about 2Spoons Coffee. It's a mom and pop shop with a small lounge area that's brings such a warm and cozy feeling that emulate your own living room. As I wait for my coffee, I always enjoy strolling around to see local artist's work.
As mentioned in many of the previous reviews, they serve nothing but organic, fair trade coffee and tea. I assumed THAT was the reason why their coffee blew my mind. Unlike their franchise competitors, you can actually taste their coffee.
I've heard and seen "fair trade" products everywhere, but I wasn't quite sure what "fair trade" was really all about. So I goggled it. To my appreciation, I learned that by buying fair trade products company's help producers in poorer countries (although there are also some farms in the U.S.) get a fair deal for their goods.Which in turn allows them to pay their workers higher wages and also be able to support their local community. Any company who has that kind of ethical perspective has my vote.Comment from Jason, Aaron a. of Two Spoons Coffee 8/17/2010

Come on Two Spoons. You can be so much better. First of all there smallest size coffee is 16 oz, they don't have 8 oz or 12 oz sizes. I ordered a small (16 oz) latte for Here, that was served with only 2 shots and in a paper cup. Why ask if i am staying if you serve everything in paper cups. Coffee belongs in ceramic people. The foam on my latte was a 2 inch thick layer of white fluff sitting on top of a weak tasting drink. Definitely not what a latte is supposed to be. Unfortunately this is how many places make their lattes. A quick YouTube search will show you what a real latte is supposed to look like. It''s not a well guarded secret. Ordered a muffin that was dry and mostly tasteless. Much like you get at a grocery store. The staff is friendly enough and there are ample couches to sit on but the decor is pretty sparse. The walls could use some decorating. There is no bathroom either which I could have used. Maybe it's just me but coffee houses need bathrooms. Sorry 2 spoons for grand standing but you can be much better with just a few small changes.

2Spoons might be nestled in a strip mall plaza, but this place has character. This place has only organic, fair trade coffee and products. They are very conscious about the environment and also making perfect cups of espresso drinks! Favorite drink so far is definitely their caramel machiatto. Perfect every time. Also they roast their own coffee beans, but not on location. So their coffee is always fresh... very important!
The seating area inside has great ambiance. Great artwork on the walls. Free WiFi internet is a necessity for cafes nowadays. Also their outdoor seating is really nice with night time heaters. They also have free movie nights on saturdays on a 10 foot screen!
They support local bakeries for their menu as well. This is a great place to go to have a delicious coffee and know you are doing the right thing for the environment. -

This place is a million times better than the franchise coffee shops out there. Coffee is amazing, food is amazing, and the people are really nice. The shop itself is very calm and a great place to study, but they do close at 3 so I usually have to find another place to go to...but i still think this place is awesome!!

There is nothing wanting about this place. All organic, fair trade coffee that is among the best I've ever had. Smooth espresso. Beautiful, comfy decor decorated by local artists. Friendly, inviting staff and owners. Free wifi. Even the bathrooms are nice.
Even if this wasn't the ONLY place like it around North County (grrr! Why???), I'd still think it was completely wonderful. There's a bike store, a Goodwill, a froyo spot AND a Dollar Tree next door, too! Talk about OMG. I could literally move in. -

Thank you Yelp!
I love when yelp helps me find a place I'd never see on my own. This wonderful coffee shop is located in a strip mall off of the 78 which you could very easily look over if you are out and about looking for a good cup of coffee.
Don't overlook this place. They are an Organic and Fair Trade Coffee and Tea place which is always a plus.
I went in this morning knowing I was going to get a white mocha (my drink of choice when trying out new coffee shops) and something to eat. The barista behind the counter was a lovely young lady who recommended the Mediterranean breakfast sandwich when I asked what I should try. I ordered both and grabbed one of the vegan chocolate chip cookies and sat outside with my book.
White Mocha - $4.05
I was a barista for years so my standards on coffee can be a bit high and this was wonderful. Far too often espresso is burnt or left to sit too long before being mixed in a drink, such was not the case here. Lovely drink.
Mediterranean Breakfast sandwich on a croissant - $5.00
Two scrambled eggs, tomatoes, feta cheese, vinaigrette (I picked the croissant but you can choose between that or a plain/wheat bagel)
This was delish! A large portion breakfast sandwich, warm and gooey with a lovely flakey croissant. Highly recommended.
Both the drink and the sandwich were brought out to be my the one barista in the whole building even with a small line at the counter and she still served everyone faster than you can get a drink if you're the only person in line at Starbucks.
The cookie was great as well a very large no eggs, no dairy vegan chocolate chip cookie. If you're going to have one this is the one to have. $2.50
I wish they had longer hours during the week so I could go before or after work but overall this is a place I know I'll be back to often. Loved it. -

I first went to 2spoons about 9 months ago and had an Americano. It was good, and in North County, that's good enough, since everywhere else sucks.
Well, since I really want to like this place, I went back and my wife and I had soy lattes. They were a little pricey but since the coffee is organic and fair trade, I expect to pay more, so that's ok.
The lattes were excellent and the barista/cashier was VERY friendly, which, being from the south, is important to me.
I will definitely go back to 2spoons and hope that someday they offer some vegan food. As it is, at least their coffee is good, and in the coffee desert that is Carlsbad/Oceanside, I am praying this place survives.Comment from Jason, Aaron a. of Two Spoons Coffee 6/1/2009

Stores have come and gone in this strip mall and it's not a busy area. So, I also thank Yelp for introducing me to this coffee shop. I love strong coffee and lattes. Starbucks & Coffee Bean are too acidic for my taste. I like Peet's and even a friend from Italy likes Peet's. I tried 2Spoons freshly ground coffee and I like their coffee better than all of the chain roasters.
The staff are just more personable and they take pride in the coffee they serve. There are regulars that go there and it could be like "Central Perk" (Friends) for the more mature. I bought a pound of beans and it was a bit more pricey than I usually pay ($16) but it is organic and fair trade. So, I'm okay with that and I'm supporting a local small business. -

I wrote a review about this place that said I thought it was way less than terrific... the then-owner contacted me to say that, yeah, things weren't so hot but he was making changes. I still didn't go back - I'd given him plenty of chances to make it good and he'd failed every time.
But guess what! The ownership changed recently (in July) and the new owner emailed me a couple of weeks ago, commenting on my review and asking me to give them a chance to make a good shot of espresso.
So I went back today. And I can tell you that the drink was awesome! The new owner wasn't there but the manager, Maria, was there, along with Selina, who made my favorite drink for me - a traditional macchiato. The shot was pulled just right, the foam was the perfect amount of foaminess, and, wonder of wonders, I was drinking heaven in a cup!
If you're into good, no, make that great coffee, give this place a try - they also have tasty pastries, nice outdoor seating, free wifi, and oh yeah, amazingly fantastic coffee! You won't be disappointed!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Came here on a Fri night with an old friend. What a great place to meet up for coffee or tea!! This is a place that serves organic fair trade coffee and tea. A very quaint and homey place to hang out. There are ample chairs outdoors and comfy seating indoors. The barista was very friendly and offered various suggestions. I was a little under the weather, and she recommended the various teas available.
I opted to try a peppermint mocha and an expresso bar. My drink was very good and didn't leave an after-taste The expresso bar was not sweet and paired well with my sweet drink. Spent about $5.Comment from Jason, Aaron a. of Two Spoons Coffee 3/15/2010

This is my new favorite little coffee spot to meet people. It is in a nice out of the way location - was actually a little tough to find the first time because it was buried in a strip mall without a big sign. BUT - it was worth the searching it took to get me there.
The baristas are always friendly, and the coffee is good. I really don't care about finding the 'perfect' cup of coffee - I am much more interested in atmosphere and supporting the local businesses around town. This is the perfect place to do that. The atmosphere is super cozy, and as an added bonus there is original artwork for sale on the walls. I assume they are from local artists - and I am always very happy to support ANYONE is who supporting the local art scene.
The coffee is priced fairly, and the ingredients are of high quality. There really isn't much else to say. Overall I just dig the place. Will definitely be back!Comment from Jason, Aaron a. of Two Spoons Coffee 4/24/2010

Great place tucked away in a strip mall near the DMV. I ordered up an iced coffee and an "American" breakfast bagel, what can I say, I'm patriotic. Fair-trade organic coffees is their game and I'm happy to support that cause. It's a nice change of pace from Starbucks scene.

The only place to go for good espresso. Shots are pulled properly and the outcome is as expected: a picture perfect crema, body and heart; with a sweet yet intense flavor.. phenomenal. There is no competition for this corner coffee shop; not to mention the smiles that greet you when you walk through the door. If you live in north county, or are just passing through, you owe it to yourself to make a visit to Two Spoons coffee shop.

I really love this tucked-away, inconspicuous coffee shop. They serve these amazing breakfast-croissant-panini type sandwiches. Local art hangs on the walls, and the sitting area feels like a friends living room. I like to walk over with my dog (while I'm waiting for my oil change) and sit outside at their tables.
My only complaint is every time I've gone, the barista (maybe owner) is quite gruff. He even complained when I brought my dishes in from sitting outside. Maybe I'm being too sensitive. I like my service just like my coffee & tea... warm! :)Comment from Jason, Aaron a. of Two Spoons Coffee 8/17/2010

I stopped by here for coffee, and I must say that this place is awesome in every way. The barista and the cashier were not only friendly and helpful, they complimented my choice -- iced caramel macchiato. The drink was utterly delicious, and the ambiance here is nice, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, parking, books, and comfiness. I found nothing lacking at all. Next time I head to Stone Brewery or thereabouts, I'm stopping by for coffee.

Simply put - a real coffee shop instead of a pseudo-shop. Good folks behind the counter, great coffee and tea, nice ambience (art and music), tables and over-stuffed chairs. Not a big selection of food but tasty; pastries, sandwiches, etc. Great selection of teas - the Moroccan Green Mint is great as an iced tea with just a bit of sweetener.

Stopped in yesterday for the first time after spending the morning at the DMV. I'm so glad I did! I had a latte with an extra shot - best latte I've ever had. Smooth and rich without even a hint of bitterness. I loved that they had gluten free pastries - that's rare! I also loved that they had agave syrup as an available sweetener. There's something for everyone here! Looking forward to more visits here in the future!

The first time I went there, I had an Americano with vanilla. The owner prepared it, and it was a good drink. I left satisfied. However, I went today, and it was the worst iced Americano I have ever had. I wasted $4.50, and I will never go back. The girl who prepared it gave it to me to add cream. The ice had all melted when she gave it to me. You could barely taste the vanilla. It was room temperature at best. I did not have confidence that she would be able to properly make my drink based on the perplexed look she gave me when I told her there was no ice in my drink. I threw the whole drink in the trash. And, as I was leaving, she cheerily told me to have a nice day. I will not waste my money there again. Organic and fair trade are great.....but, not if the barista can't make a decent drink.

The coffee was fantastic, the restaurant was clean, there is a really good menu for just being a small coffee cafe, the seating is comfortable, the place is probably nicer than your living room, and the owner was really friendly.
