Twisted Vine is an unexpectedly classy wine bar in downtown Fullerton.
My friend suggested we meet here for drinks. There was a decent crowd for a Thursday night, which made me glad it wasn't a busier one - securing table or couch seating on a busier night would have been a challenge. Even with the crowd, the bar's acoustics made conversation reasonable, and I still had my voice the next morning.
Love the ambiance: brick-tones, dark woods, and cork-covered menus mix to create Twisted Vine's own cozy flavor. Candlelight accents keep the place from becoming too dim, yet dim enough for a romantic rendezvous.
Can't speak to their wine selection - I had asked our server for a recommendation - but wine bottles are everywhere, along with wine-related merchandise.
After I told server Scott I'd been drinking reds all day, he recommended a Ramsey cloret. I accepted. It was divine, soothing, and quite quaffable.[1]
Twisted Vine's kitchen closed early, so I missed their famous brie bread bowl. Next time!
[1] I was a bit surprised to see my glass was $16 - yes, sixteen dollars. I don't mind paying for vino, but a polite warning would have been appreciated. Get a bottle if you're with fellow winos - that's usually the most economical course of action.

How did I ever not know about this place until recently?!
They have a flight (sampler) of either three types of reds or three types of whites and they are so generous with the portions. (They also have beer flights that I haven't yet tried.) Their baked brie appetizer is awesome.
If you're into wine, this place rocks. The people working there know their wines. They're laid back but it's a classy place. I can go there anytime!

This is a great little place in the middle of downtown Fullerton. It's somewhat low key, but the ambiance inside is really friendly and classy. It definitely won't be pretentious dropping by here.
The interior is like a large wine cellar. It's covered in wood and has various lounge chairs and stools scattered throughout the place. The menus are covered in wine cork and has the name of the place emblazoned onto the cover. It's a nice place to swing by at night--when the shop is dimmer and having wine by candlelight is your idea of a more intimate setting. There's a rear area that leads outside, for some outdoor lounging.
I came here once at the suggestion of a friend who did not want to slum it one night. It turned out to be a pretty good pick and I was pretty impressed with the wide wine selection they offered.
I'm no wire connoisseur by any means, but I like red wines that taste good. The Cabernet I had here was outstanding and ordinary people got sexier by the sip.
I also really liked the beers. You can't go wrong with the Chimay. I also had some local brews which packed some punch. I recommend asking the bartenders for their recommendations, as well as some beers that are more "exclusive" to the store and area. They were nice enough to let me try a bit first before making a commitment. As you know, being male means that that commitment aspect is lacking.
I did not have any food here during my last visit, but I will surely order up stuff the next time I drop by.

Twisted Vine is quite the gem in DTF. The staff are incredibly friendly, accommodating and attentive. The ambiance is comparable to a warm cabin like feeling with flowing wine and great food, what more could you ask for. The candlelight and dim lights add a nice touch and choice of music a great backdrop for stimulating conversation with friends or family. With business neighbors such as Rockin' Taco and Back Alley Bar & Grill, Twisted VIne offers a certain charm and character other bars in Orange County can not even come close to.

I like the ambiance of the wine bar. It's nice, clean, and classy. What's interesting is that you're able to hang out amongst the wine bottles decorated and stored throughout the bar.
I can't say I am a wine connoisseur but it makes me wonder how well "chilled" these wines are hanging out with people. Wouldn't the body heat, especially on a crowded night, affect the temperature of these wines? I would think so...but again, I'm not an expert. I just like wine and store some of my own in a constant temperature setting.
The wine selection is decent but a bit limited. It's a great place for social gathering or even a date. For large groups, I suggest hanging out in the patio. It's really nice out there...even on a cold night. They have heat warmers so you can all huddle around one or just snuggle with someone.
They have a small selection of appetizers and fondue. I didn't try any...but I would consider it next time.

Smokey, dimly lit jazzy-blue room, cork-covered menus and waiters with a great, personal knowledge of the different wines makes a really great setting.
To be honest, I really enjoy wine but I am NOT GOOD at names unless it's a Trader Joe's bottle I keep getting so...I like the 9 dollar one that tastes like dark chocolate. And that other one that tastes like ...dark chocolate with espresso. See the trend.
Mushrooms with toasted sourdough is delicious and you just want to sop up the sauce with the bread, meat platter is okay, cheesecake is interesting and light and swirly, but...
Baked brie bowl. That's it. A billion stars.

Service was kind of poor and the wine flights offered this day were awful but it's a nice non-snooty place to drink some wine.
If you're looking for a real wine bar with good food try Tasca or AOC in LA. :( ?
With its extremely casual feel it seemed like a college kid's intro to wine place.

Still love this place...great service-very friendly, great ambiance and great flights. I ordered the summer whites wine flight and that was good but what intrigued me on this night was the offerings on the beer flight. I tasted one beer ordered by my friend, and it tasted like tangerine. It was the Lost Cause- Tangerine Wheat and the flavors lingered. Im loving this beer...I have to go back and enjoy myself a glass before they take it off their selections.
Thanks Scott, for letting us sit on the back sofa even if our whole party wasn't there yet...you rock!

GREAT place if you want a chill place to hang out and catch up with friends! I finally got around to checking this place out with a few friends and we loved it! The brie bowl definitely lived up to the great reviews and it was SO GOOD........i dont even think i like brie but it was melty cheesy creamy goodness...served with apples and bread. YES....its a must have! We shared a bottle of wine between the 5-6 of us... don't remember what it was but it was red and was recommended by one of the owners.
everyones really friendly here and its a great alternative if you want something a little bit quieter/intimate than your average bar.
wish there were more places like it. i'll be back!

I love wine and this place is great. It has a nice ambiance and the service is good. We tried the baked brie when we were here, our only complaint was that it was pretty small! They don't have happy hour here and I wouldn't say its cheap but a great place to hang out with the girls and try some wine.
Too bad it opens at 3pm.. or maybe there's something wrong with me, standing there waiting for it to open....

Tip: Do not come here with a large loud obnoxious group an hour before they close.
Reason 1: They wont serve you until you shut up a little bit.
Reason 2: Everyone in the place will give you dirty looks, causing the wait staff to give you dirty looks, causing you to be wineless for a longer period of time.
Reason 3: Gratuity, holy shit.
Reason 4: They cut you off real fast. Last slurp, "Anything else, we're closing", :checks watch:, 11:00pm?
The vino is good and decently priced. The atmosphere is meant to be cozy and relaxing, thus not made for large loud obnoxious parties. I dig this place and vill be back, perhaps with 10 less people. :D

The wine and food are great. I like the consistency with which the baked brie is made. The servers here seemed to have degraded in quality. I don't know if the economy has made this a more casual place then when I first came here. It saddens me to here that students come here to study and watch football games. The menus were also falling apart. The other issue was that the waitress took a long time to get out our drinks, food, bill, and change back. The bill was so unclear, partly because we couldn't read the writing and mostly because the memorable part of the wine was not the one that was written down.

My kinda place!
I love their outdoor patio and their rustic looking decor inside. This is an awesome place to hang out and have some wine with friends, when sitting at home doing the same loses its cool.
And shame on you if you come here and DON'T order the Baked Brie with Apples. Amazing!

I don't drink wine. I'm not an appetizer kind of girl either. So what on earth, would I be doing here? I was given the task of taking some out of town clients out afterwork. I was kind of worried since most of the places I go to are small hole in the wall spots. I turned to my trusty Yelp App on my phone and came up with Twisted Vine.
The server was really helpful and fortunately for me, my guests were wine connoiseurs so I just sat back and played the "easy going" host and let them order!
2 orders of the Baked Brie, Empanada, Dip Trio, Crab Cakes, Meat Platter, Turkey Paini. Everything was a hit! I thought the beer would of just been just ok, but the Apple Beer was something to write home about!
The bill was around $450 before tip, but hey, it's on the company card! Whew!

I'm talking about the quadruple B's! Baked Brie Bread Bowl - Utterly amazing... though, I really like Brie. Now if only this place was in Brea, it'd be a whole lot of B's for one man to take.
The wine choices here were all great and really, what better way to sober up from an elite event full of drinking than with a nice glass of wine. If wine isn't your fancy, then perhaps the many other fine drinks, such as a Chimay will fill your need.
The setting is pretty chill and relaxing. Which helped me with one key thing.. one in which I'm sure isn't the key since they serve so much alcohol. That is.. sobering you up some. While I'm sure many people go here to do the exact opposite.
The Leese Fitch split with a couple of folks was really a nice way to wash away the alcohol. Again, a really chill place that you can just lounge at and converse with others... over all, a great time to be had if you're in the fullerton area. One swell wine establishment.

Being unfamiliar with the Fullerton night scene, I was invited out to meet up w a group of friends to this quiet, classy, upscale wine bar in the downtown Fullerton area. The impression I was given of Fullerton is a townie/college town feel with the bars set up to match. This however was a little more sophisticated with a classy interior and outdoor dining areas. A good selection of wine and beers was accented by delicious menu of appetizers like the panini sandwiches and baked Brie bowl. Definitely a good spot to bring friends and others too for a fun night in F Town.
I had a nice time here with a group of friends the other night. I always love going to downtown Fullerton because it's usually ridiculously easy to find parking in the huge lot west of Harbor Blvd. and north of Commonwealth. Twisted Vine butts right up against this parking lot on the north side of Commonwealth right next to an ACE Hardware, oddly enough. You can't miss the patio covered in the pretty twinkly lights that seem to be a staple of the downtown Fullerton area.
We basically just wanted a place to serve us wine while we reminisced about the good old days, and Twisted Vine did not disappoint. The wine list was appropriately extensive, with a good selection of whites and reds and a few sparkling. Also a fair selection of beers for the less-cultured, haha. Of course, considering it's a wine bar, the bottles came with exaggerated prices, but nothing too outrageous. They also serve everything by the glass, but we opted for a bottle each of shiraz and malbec to share. I enjoyed them both, although later in the evening we had some Chilean red that tasted like plants in my opinion.
Anyway, it was ultimately a nice experience. The service was friendly and efficient. I didn't personally order any food, but my friends enjoyed the brie bowl, and the bite of empanada I tried was really good. The area inside was full even on a Wednesday, but the patio had plenty of free space. On my limited budget, it probably isn't a place I would frequent, but I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys trying new wines. Which, let's be honest, who doesn't?

We started patronizing the Twisted Vine the week that we opened. We loved the story behind the restaurant. We appreciated the thoughtful choices of wine and food. And the Brie cheese bread bowl... OMG...
Obviously since TV has gained it's popularity it has lost some charm, but not much. We still recognize many of the servers as those that were there from the beginning. And clearly the some of the signature dishes are still on the menu. Yay for wine, cheese and atmosphere in DTF!
Baked Brie in the sourdough bowl with apples is what comes to mind when I think of Twisted Vine. Sure their selection of wines are good, but that brie was oh so flavorful. I met up with my close girlfriends from high school here and it was a cute spot to catch up. It's got a nice date ambiance too. If you decide to come here with friends or family, make sure they are wine drinkers. They don't serve any hard alcohol. The employees are so friendly and they make you feel welcome.

First of all - I LOVE this place!
I tell all my friends, colleagues, coworkers...Everyone to go here!
It's a tiny bit pricey, but I'm totally willing to pay for a few reasons. #1 the service is freakin awesome! They are so incredibly great, they know how to treat customers and have those customers return! So to the Twisted Vine folk....keep doing what you're doing! You're awesome.
#2 the wine and food is so freakin delicious!!!! Love the goat cheese, Love the fondue...love it all!
#3 ambiance...such a mellow, cool place to sit with your friends and catch up after a long day and enjoy some wine and good company.
Seriously Twisted Vine, you know what you're doing! keep it up!! and thank you, I'll be enjoying your wine and service again soon!!
Well, fuck me sideways, this place is the shit. Especially considering where it's located. I don't think I need to drop anymore blatant hints about how much I despise the OC. If you've read my reviews or know me, I am sure you are aware of this and it's exhausting every time I have to relive the intense hatred.
Anyway, the beers are amazing. The blueberry wheat ale-- HOLY SHIT. The Porter with the hint of coconut -- FUCKING HELL. The creme brulee -- I think I have to change my panties. I had a sip of the rose white wine stuff and that was pretty pretty tasty, too. I cannot wait to try more shit from here.
The 5 of us broads sat outside on the large patio and cackled away at really offensively disgusting stuff. The atmosphere is really chill and comfortable. Classy, but not in a snobby way. The servers were warm, friendly, informative and extremely good at making all of us feel welcome and well accommodated. I can't praise the fabulous service enough.
Everything is decently priced also. I am broke -- and have a feeling I forever will be -- so I think I'm a pretty good judge of affordability. I mean, for the product and ambience, this place is choice.
If you're looking for a place to escape the annoying, shrill fuckers that inundate DTF, check Twisted Vine out. You can chill with your homies and drink crazy good booze and stuff your faces with tasty treats without having to raise your voice at a maximum decibel level or shove drunk hookers/frat boys from your personal space.

This has long been on my list of places to try, so when I had the chance to meet with a friend in DTF for lunch, I jumped at the chance to try the lunch menu. Now that I've gotten a taste, I can't wait to return at night.
When we arrived, the place was virtually empty except for some patrons at the bar. We were quickly seated and given the chance to peruse the menu. As much as I wanted to try the standout selections I've read about, I figured loads of wine and cheese on a hot summer day would not be good for my productivity, so I looked to lighter fare. Curse my sense of moderation!
I opted for the turkey panini, which has turkey, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto and brie. To drink, I opted for a nice blonde ale. The panini was packed with flavor and cooked just right. I've noticed many places claiming to serve panini don't really serve proper ones. Usually its just lightly toasted bread. But Twisted Vine does it right. The bread is grilled to perfection in the press, which makes the cheese the right kind of gooey. For the side, I chose the tomato bisque for dippin' purposes. OMG. The soup was creamy and delicious. Not too tart or sweet, and it goes so well with the sandwiches! At the end of my meal I was scraping away at the small cup with my spoon trying to get every last drop. True story. Meanwhile, my friend got the grilled cheese, which contains smoked mozzarella and provolone. She was quite happy with it and the cup of bisque.
As other reviews have noted, the atmosphere is very chill. Service was very friendly and prompt to boot. Next time, I'm coming at night with some friends and will tackle the baked brie and a few glasses of wine.

Love Twisted Vine. Their baked brie is so good...I had their small platter of cheese before, also...it was pretty delicious...especially since they pair some of the cheese with honey/fruit. I got carded for the first time the other day...which is surprising b/c I know this place is known for not carding. I guess I look younger as the years go by...which is a good thing, right?
I've seen a lot of friends get beer, and when trying a few sips of their beer, it's pretty good. They've got a huge selection. Great ambiance, friendly service, delectable wine, tasty beer, delicious food...Bottom line, love this place!

Love this place! It's cozy and unpretentious....what a pleasant surprise! I had a flight of wine - a choice of 3 wines (out of 6 or 7 on a list) for $15. It was a great way to have some variety and to taste the difference from one wine to the next. And they poured generously....nice!
My hubby and I also shared a cheesecake which was surprising light in texture yet totally satisfying and delicious.
Would highly recommend checking it out. And if you're not into wine, they also have a beer menu...fyi.

I'm going to be the minority here when I say that the baked brie was just "meh." I came here two weeks in a row and in total had: a bottle of the pinot gris (tasty, fruity, everything that was advertised to us), a bottle of the "layer cake" (earthy, tastes like mocha and cake as advertised), two bottles of the moscato, baked brie (twice), the cheese plate (small portion with three cheeses) and the strawberry salad. The best thing I had to eat was the cheese plate and the best thing I had to drink was the moscato. However, it's hard to eat anything savory with the sweet moscato.
Both times I went on a Friday evening which is obviously busy for the wine bar. Even with the crowd, service was attentive and friendly. After my second visit, I realized that this could turn into an expensive habit. This is highlighted with the different wine flights offered. My friend and I opted out of the wine flight because it seemed pretty expensive and we would rather just split a bottle of wine.
Knowledgable staff, extensive variety of wine & food, and on a beautiful evening sitting on the patio is absolutely divine. Thanks, Twisted Vine. I'll be back (after my next paycheck clears the bank).

I have been coming here for a couple of years now...
When I first started coming I had just gotten into wine tasting in Temecula. (Which I would recommend to anyone) I generally like the sweeter wines. I have had quite a few of their wines, all were pretty good but not really my taste.
Due to heart burn I really don't drink that much wine anymore.... So I am really glad that they have a great beer menu as well.
Some of my favorites are Floris, Framboise, and Blue Dog. I look forward to coming here one because the atmosphere is great and two because they are one of two places that have Floris. The other being Total Wine and more at the tustin market place.
The food here is really good as well. I had the chocolate fondue, large cheese platter, the dip trio, strawberry cheese cake, and the banana nutella pannini. All were great with the exception of the dip trio.... I would steer clear of that dish.
All in all, this is great place to go and chillax at. So, if you are ever in the Downtown Fullerton area you need to hit this place up

I discovered Twisted Vine about a year ago, when I was seeking a stopping point on my commute from OC to LA to kill time and let traffic die down a little.
It is one of the best Wine bars I have been in. VERY friendly and courteous staff and the owner is fantastic (and I'm not saying that just b/c we're virtually neighbors).
The wine selection is great, ambiance is chill and there is always a good looking fun crowd. If you sit up at the bar you're bound to make a new friend... yup, it's that kind of place. Just so that you don;t drink on an empty stomach, there are some gourmet-esq finger foods worth enjoying.
As an added bonus, they serve beer as well and there are 2 TV's almost always set to ESPN... If you're not into a sports bar scene with fat Vinny screaming in your ear... but want to go out and watch the game at an upscale establishment... this is the place for you.
Come here once... and you will become a regular

If I were to commit suicide gastronomically, they would find my lifeless, bloated body in full rest on the sofa in the back of the Twisted Vine... a heavenly smile and perhaps a few crumbs around me...as well as the faint smell of melted brie and apples on my lips.
To Die.
The Baked Brie bread bowl is so unbelievably good... I had to have seconds, thirds, and fourths (...fifths?) to truly believe what I was eating. In all its simplicity, it is one of the tastiest, yet utterly indulgent dishes I have ever tasted.
Brie is not for the faint of heart. You cannot count calories and expect to thoroughly enjoy the experience. Which is why I suggest to calorie counters like myself - the importance of pairing said Baked Brie with a glass (fuck it - a carafe... a BOTTLE!) of bubbly, chardonnay, pinot noir, or sauvignon blanc... or if wine isn't your thing, then I highly recommend whatever apple beer it is that is served at the Twisted Vine because THAT, my friends... is delightful and a perfect compliment to the brie and the more you drink, the more you will forget all that delicious, melted cheese and warm sourdough bread you will soon be stuffing in to your cheeks like a hamster in survival mode!!
It's worth it, it is.
So much, in fact - I think I should start to work on my last will and testament.

I love wine, and some might say I'm an aspiring wino. But the Twisted Vine Wine Bar in Fullerton, CA makes me wanna turn into a full-on, balls-to-the-wall, "I'm not gonna drink no f'ing Merlot" kind of wino, as the place seriously rocks!
When it comes to wine bars, I usually come for the flights, to taste and to buy. Being able to relax and chat for hours with the awesome company you keep - all while partaking in delicious food and drink in a relaxing environment - is just an added bonus these days. Imagine that?
Well, no need to anymore. Because now, either God or Bacchus or someone really scholarly, erudite, or just downright cool opened up the Twisted Vine, which clearly shows there's something ingenious about mixing over 40 different wines by the glass with ambient lighting, big leather couches with fantastically attentive service to-and-from, and, not to mention, a kick ass grilled cheese sandwich with something called a "Brie Bread Bowl." When it comes to enjoying the Twisted Vine, it's not just the wine talking. "In Vino Veritas" doesn't even apply!
The featured wine and beer flights are generously poured, while the appetizer menu options are generously portioned! Enjoying a few flights with some apps actually makes for a great light dinner. Beware the aforementioned grilled cheese and brie bread bowl - these can be dangerously addicting!
Overall, to sum it up, I'll leave you with these parting words.
"In Vino Unitas!"
"In Vino Vita!"
"Salud!"

Great wine selection. Chill atmosphere. Fun finger foods. It's a fun place to kick back and relax when you just want a bottle of wine with some friends, but also want to be out of the house.
I tried the baked brie in the bread bowl and the chocolate fondue. Both are decent, but not worth the pretty penny.

First off, I'll admit that I am not a wine drinker, but that doesn't mean you can't hang at Twisted Wine. Our waiter was friendly, had answers ready for our questions, and suggestions galore. So, wine connoisseur or not, this place makes you feel comfortable. The big sofa and armchairs help with that too. We had the Moscato and the Apple Bear, both great. Both fruity and refreshing.
And now to the Brie Bowl. It says a lot when even hype doesn't break the Brie Bowl. My friend had raved about it to me for weeks and yet, the Brie Bowl still delivered! Twisted Vine serves their Brie Bowl with toasted sourdough bread. So, if the bread pieces don't satisfy, have at it at the bowl itself. I'd come back to visit just for that bowl.

Guaranteed one of the only places in the entire cluster f*ck of what we call downtown fullerton to not have bros and crazy crowds. Little wine bar right off commonwealth that serves food as well.
They have a pretty decent selection of wines that you can purchase to drink there or take home. It's nice if you're looking for a low key night to hang out, drink and be social.
Nice and calm atmosphere.

Best service I've ever had in Downtown Fullerton. Hands down. I wish they stayed open a little later so we could have ordered more of the beers the server recommended for us. There's an amazing smoky porter that has the faintest hint of coconut to it, and we enjoyed that so much that he was super pumped about all the other brews he thought we might like. It's awesome when you can tell that someone's actually enthusiastic about the product they serve. It makes all the difference.
We ordered some creme brulee- and holy crap it was amazing. Honestly, the quality, value, service, ambiance, and whole experience here is wonderful.

Great atmosphere. Good selection of wine. They even carry Seasmoke, my fave "cult" wine from the Santa Ynez area. Appetizers were good, and I'm just wishing it wasn't so far from where I live. It would become one of my regular wine bar hangouts. My friends and I had a wonderful time here.
I was somewhat disappointed with my first visit. I ordered a flight of beers that I did not really enjoy. But I had a sip of some Apple beer and that was pretty effing awesome. I recently returned with a seasoned Twisted Vine Professional--a patron gone pro.
As promised, the Brie Bread Bowl was pretty damn fantastic. Baked Brie!? In a breadbowl!? With more bread for dipping?! and Apples?! Washed down with that Apple Beer that tastes like alcoholic apple juice?! Yum.
Also - as we were getting ready to leave, I discovered a nice patio seating area in the back.... for next time.

i am debating between 4 or 5 stars, because i think this place is pretty cool. its pretty much a wine place with some snacks you can eat. its like a 21yr old + starbucks hangout, except its wine instead of coffee.
its a very classy and nice place to hangout. its really great. you get a menu to choose what kind of wine or snacks you want. we tried the bread with cheese dip. Its yummy. i am not sure about the apple with cheese dip part though. it taste like food, but i like the bread with it better.
there is no price to how much a bottle of wine is on the menu. haha. i was wondering if those wine is gonna come out to be 200 or 300 dollars. haha. it was around 50. thats not bad for wine.
i went to the bathroom and i came back seeing the waiter watching the tables. he was really nice and did a good job with service. so he got his eyes on all the table to ensure quality service. its pretty good. okay... now that i have thought throughly with this, i m gonna change my star rating to a 5. :)
If I lived in California, I would be a regular here. I love this place. They have a great selection of wine, a pretty good food menu, and very friendly staff.
I just went last night and tried a new wine I had never heard of before. It was very good, so I asked the server a few questions about it. He was very knowledgeable about the wine and indulged my questions even though I was tipsy and maybe a teensy bit rude :p

This place is so much fun!! The waiters are attentive and really know their wine selection, and the appetizers are to die for. The baked Brie bowl is incredible, I even ate the bowl!! The pan fried goat medallions are scrumptious and served with a sundried tomatoe cream sauce. I really could go on and on about what a cool spot this is. You don't have to be pretentious or know a lot about wine to have a great time and the servers are more then willing to let you try whatever wines spike your interest. A must stop spot!
