This is a review based on 3 star food, but really gets an additional one for service.  This rating is for breakfast only, since it was included with my stay.  Breakfast is expensive and priced around 20 bucks for the full buffet and a la carte breakfast options usually go for around 10-15.  We got hotel vouchers for breakfast since the lounge was not open.

The only people sane enough to eat here seem to be hotel guests, though I do see a lot of them actually paying for this buffet.  While not GREAT, it really beats buffets at other hotels.  You can have made to order belgian waffles or eggs (fresh or whites only if you want it), and there is a decent selection of pastries and bread.  They had special items such as smoked salmon with toast points, etc  and caramelized blood oranges and oranges.  Unfortunately, even that food was prepared average or below average.  They had the standard eggs, potatoes sausage and bacon and quite a good fruit collection.

The food was average, they had orange/apple/grapefruit juice and coffee and tea, everything served by the waiter as expected of such by this kind of establishment.  The outstanding service by our waitress Lily (Lilliana) made the meal great.  It is incredibly nice to have someone in the morning in a foreign destination to make your day.  She made sure we got new plates, new silverware and all our water and juice was full.  She even remembered I didn't like coffee and offered tea the next morning.  If she is available, make sure to get a table her way.  I think the other waiters and waitresses were just as attentive.

Be warned that if its a sunny day to stay away from the windows, they radiate heat since they have no tint on them, but there is a curtain to keep the sun away from your eyes.  Its a ritzy dining room and the ambiance was good.  Unfortunately, even with the service, I would not come here if I had to pay for breakfast.

This review is based on their breakfast buffet.  If you are looking for a good,  breakfast buffet at a fair price this is the place to come.  Where else can you get a quality breakfast buffet for $20?  Sizzler & Home Town Buffet aren't quality!  Bacon, sausage, eggs, potatoes, hot & cold cereal, fruit, yogurt, lox, toast, juice and made to order omelets and waffles are all included in the price.   I agree with other reviewers that prices off the the menu are high but the buffet is an excellent value.

We go here sometimes for Work events, it's "ok" but nothing special. I've actually never seen it full EVER. The food tastes a bit like "mediocre catering" it's never high quality ingredients, but it's never unacceptable. I don't know why they are like this, but I probably think it's due to the low budget conference crowd that frequents the hotel.

If your staying there it's easy, but I would venture into Hollywood and Highland (attached) and grab some food at some of their other establishments.

Twist has the promise of a good restaurant, I just feel they need a good manager/chef to revamp.invigorate the menu and atmosphere to grow.

I threw a party here for my company and they satisfied the needs of everything I wanted. The food was excellent especially the Risotto, Prime Rib, BBQ Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Carrot Cake and Lobster Bisque.
The drinks didn't have that much alcohol and the prices were normal Hollywood prices. They provided two 52" LCD's for my slideshow and they had a separate room for the 2 sided buffet! The views of Hollywood were a really nice backdrop.

We bought out the entire restaurant and had 86 people in it. I think for normal business hours, it's not so crowded.

I would definitely come back again to have a party!

Completely awful:  Four of us planned to meet here at 6 pm so that we could have a leisurely dinner before a show at the Kodak at 8 pm (Kathy Griffin--totally awesome.)  Here's the timeline:

6:05:  Three of us make it to the table, and we tell the waitress that we have the 8 pm show to look forward to.  She takes our drink orders and suggests we order a starter while we're waiting for our last guest.  We order the calamari.

6:20 Our last guest arrives.  The waitress gets his drink order and reads off the specials.  Not impressive.

6:25 The calamari arrives, and it ranks 2 stars out of 5.

6:40 We place our orders.  The four of us each order a starter; a california roll, butternut squash soup, chicken noodle soup; and mussels.  All of those starters would take any other kitchen 10 minutes to prepare.

7:10  No food has arrived, and the waitress has not given us any update.

7:15  We're finally able to get the waitress' attention, and she promises to check on our food.  She makes the suggestion that we have all of our food--starters and main courses--come out at once since we're under a time constraint.  WTF???

7:20  Still no food.  She says they're waiting for the california roll.

7:22  I flag down the manager.  He says he'll check on things.  SPOILER ALERT:  He never returns to our table.

7:25 Three of our starters arrive.  The mussels didn't make it.  She convinces the person who originally ordered it to order a sushi roll.  (We thought they were previously WAITING for the california roll.)  We cancel our main courses.

7:26 through 7:40  I muddle through my very bland chicken noodle soup.  It has no flavor.

7:42 The bill is paid, and we leave the restaurant wiser and hungrier.

8:00 to 10:00 We see a fantastic show with Kathy Griffin.

One of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory.

Twist is quite good and I'm thankful that when my folks come to town they stay at hotel in which Twist is housed, The Renaissance Hollywood.  Given it's location and its housing in a city of so much wonderful dining I can't say I'm here often but I eat here with a certain frequency, and with each trip I've not been let down.

Their California cuisince is a rather successful one and is rather delicious.  The high ceilings and interesting lighting make for a nice dining experience to juxtapose the touristy hustle/bustle of the Hollywood&Highland complex.

This review reminds me that I'm due for a trip back to Twist...

Does anyone ever go here? I was here on a Wednesday night for a mixer and it was dead. Had a bunch of apps and they were pretty good although the mini-baked potatoes could've been better. Martinis were all movie themed. Which I thought was so touristy. I passed and stuck with a Hefeweizen. With all the competition from Hollywood and Highland, you'd think they'd do better than this touristy place @ the Renaissance, but they don't.

The food is ok. The crab stuff jalapeno propers were very good.  The Tempora roll was ok. Good lobster bisque and Lamb. I didn't like the tero cake on it. We also had the tasting menu. It was ok. Over all it felt very touristy. Not very fine dining.

this place is ok, but just ok. it's a ghostown everytime i've been there. i'm not sure how they stay in business because there is literally no one there. the chicken wings are good. ask for you because they aren't on the menu. everything else is overpriced and not really that great. my advice, skip this place and go somewhere else. this place is only good if you're staying at the hotel and it's late and you don't feel like going out.
