Review from A E.
San Jose, CA
The absolute best supermarket. I live in San jose and wish we had it here....all we have is crappy Lucky's close by.
By far, by FAR, the absolute best olive bar I've ever had the pleasure of partaking. Love the fresh food...found stuff I was only able to find at specialty stores here at home...When you're on vacation, we like to splurge a little...better with imported cheeses and meats instead of a can of spam. -

Great store all your needs for the slopes! They have a wide selection of healthy choices. Nice to see within a small community!

Stopped in for some produce to round out a barbecue dinner.
Yes, prices are a bit steep, but this can be your one stop grocery store. Butcher shop & deli provided some delicious beef, and side salads. Fresh green beans in the produce department were great. Bought some Highlander Grogg coffee beans on recommendation from my daughter...when I drink that while back home in the city, reminds me of our weekend away, that's worth five stars right there! -

This is a really nice market with fresh produce, tons of natural products, and specialty items. When we were there they had BBQs set up out front and were selling items to go, which is a great dinner alternative to a restaurant take out.
They also carried lots of organic, dairy free, and gluten free items, much like a Whole Foods would have. Overall a clean, nice place to shop but a little on the pricier side. -

Great food and wine/beer selection (including organic). Lots of whole bean coffee, too! Occasionally, you can get a delicious BBQ meal outside. Fruit/veggies selection is OK, try hitting the farmer's market or the local veggie/fruit stands off Highway when en route (from the Bay area).

This market is a delightful surprise for this small town. They offer a decent selection of specialty foods: gluten-free, dairy-free, prepared sushi, etc. For specialty items their prices are reasonable.
It is always nice to go into an establishment where the employees seem happy to be there. Almost every experience I have had includes at least one or two employees going out of their way to make sure I got the help I needed.Listed in: Gluten Free

This is an excellent local market with reasonable prices for a specialty store (read: a bit higher than large chain competitors).
I have a lot of dietary restrictions and was pleasantly surprised by the selection available at Twain Harte Market; they have a fair array of gluten and dairy-free options available, and at reasonable prices.
The employees are helpful and happy to be there, and the store itself is clean, pleasant, and well organized.Listed in: Gluten-Free Sonora

This is a fabulous market! Looking for something? You'll find it here. Excellent meat with a live butcher on staff, and the baked items, olive, wine and cheese selection is worth shopping for.
Other reviewers say this place is expensive. We don't eat out often, but splurge on good food we cook for friends or family. This is the place to go.
While in the area, stop at the pharmacy next door. They have fabulous selection of anything you need while on the mountain! -

The only market I frequent when I am in Twain Harte. They have a great selection to choose from and the people are very friendly there. The prices are average, but not bad at all. There isn't much else in comparison nearby, so I would highly recommend Twain Harte Market.

Twain Harte, CA
Twain Harte Market is by far the best market I have ever been to. I really enjoy small markets that make you feel at home. That is exactly the feeling you get here. They have a great salad bar, fresh fish, great meats, produce is awesome. Overall, I just love shopping here! Even if it is a little more pricey than other grocery stores.

Sonora, CA
This is without doubt the best supermarket in the Sonora-Twain Harte area. They have a very extensive, upscale selection of all kinds of foodstuffs, including excellent meat, fish and produce selections, and a large wine department. The merchandise seems to be very carefully selected, and is much higher quality than the chain markets down in Sonora. We shop there almost exclusively when we are visiting. Parking is always good, checkout is very speedy, and the store is never so crowded you can't get around. They even sell local produce, including apples in September/October. Definitely a jewel of the Motherlode.

Tuolumne, CA
This place has ok food but the prices are off the chart! The new owner is way too proud of his product. They prey on Bay area folks with deep pockets. The locals use it for a glorified convenience store. $2.29lb for chicken thighs? What are they smokin? $799lb for tri tip that goes elsewhere for 4.99! I'm talking apples to apples, choice meat, not select. Want great meat for much less? Cost U less in Sonora on Mono Way. Twain Harte Market does have a nice deli if you can get a bank loan to pay the bill. Oh, and 99cents for Yoplait yogurt that goes for 60 cents at SaveMart. You folks that think you are gettin a deal better think again! Happy shopping Yelpers!
