I came by with a friend after dinner to satisfy our sweet tooth.
First of all, the man in the counter was super friendly! One of those people that would have no problem selling any product. He walked us through some of his gelato creations and asked for some feedback when we tasted a few new things.
I declined the gelato, cause I felt cold, but my friend got a small serving.
When we realized he didn't have cash and did not make the credit card minimum, the guy at the counter told us it was on the house!
We were very happy and thankful, and the gelato was delicious!
I can't wait to have some free time to make it to Pasadena, I will definitely go by and have a BIG serving of delicious gelato, which was of excellent quality compared to others I've tried in Pasadena.

I have not really had a WOW gelato experience here in the USA.

The best gelato I have ever had was Nutella gelato in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. The thing is, of course, that ice cream making is an art in the state of Michoacan. Because of this people in Michoacan expect the finest and most natural ingredients available. It seems that here people are happy with places that serve food made from extracts.

I ordered the hazelnut gelato and though the gelato had a nice consistency to it the flavor was too subtle to satisfy me. I am rating this place four stars only because it is better than average ice cream and because the options are limited to a few places with comparable quality.

    Here I am...on Thanksgiving...dreaming of gelato. Yum!

I've been to tons of gelato places... but this place is by far the best. It has a much more "authentic" vibe and is in a little tiny back alley shopping center off of the main stretch of Old Town Pasadena.

I believe there is only one other Tutti Gelati (in Sin City?!) so I treasure this place. They have my all time favorite...favorite... favorite... gelato flavor. Fior di Latte. An amazing, milky... gelato. Yum! The best ever! Seriously, no other gelato place measures up...although they usually have to suffice...since this place is a drive for me.

    Yum!

This place wasn't bad. Nice location, great service, good seating outdoors. But unfortunately, the gelato was pretty ordinary. The flavors seemed mass produced and not as fresh or intense as I had hoped after reading all the positive comments from my fellow Yelpers.  Oh well. You still gotta try these things. I also thought the selection of flavors was very homogeneous. Too many coffee/mocha flavors and not enough other options like caramel, chocolate, hazelnut, or banana. I had the fior de latte and mocha and I only ate a third of the small cup.  It's a good thing their prices were pretty reasonable.

Sometimes I worry that one day I will run out of bad reviews

Then I run into places like this and feel better.

Tutti Gelati is......Meh. Yeah Yelp got the word right.

I go in and a kid is working there alone he ignores me for a little and then stares at me.

I ask to try a few flavors.

At this point its awkward because...I don't like them.

I went at night so that may explain why this was most of their flavors.

    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

I decided to try and get a small of my old standbys pistachio and chocolate chip.

    http://www.yelp.com/bi...

How nasty looking is that pistachio? I mean can it be a more unappealing shade of brown?

The chocolate chip wasn't as good as Thrifty's ice cream.

The pistachio was ok but the texture was grainy.

I ended up throwing some of it away.

    I wouldn't go here again.

But thanks for giving me something to balance out my other reviews!

After having gelato in Italy, my standards are really high and Tutti Gelati certainly did not meet them. The pistachio which is my favorite flavor was really bad, you can only taste the crème. It was pretty disappointing.

The cinnamon was nice and flavorful as was the amaretto. But if you want the real thing, drive to Grom in Malibu....that's what real gelato is supposed to taste like!

If you are in Pasadena and you are craving gelato, go here but avoid the pistachio (esp. if you have had it at Grom or in Italy!). On a positive note, it is tucked away in a cute spot (next to sushi roku) and you can sit in the open courtyard with the fountains nearby. But still, keep in mind; this is not what real gelato tastes like...it's not even close to the real deal!

Besides stepping into the space that looked relatively uninviting -- and the chemical smell was pretty potent, I was afraid that

    a) they were closed
    b) what's in their gelato?

However, the coffee flavor was tasty.. but after a few bites it sorta became fragranty.  It didn't strike me as memorable.. but it was ok.  I think it was $4 for a bambino.. that's typical right?

Yes. That is a whole five star rating. And Tutti Gelati deserves every star it can get!

Firstly, stars are given due to the wide variety of flavors, along with the originality of flavors. Coconut? Rum raisin? Cinnamon??? Not common gelato flavors. In addition to the gelatoey goodness, there's sorbetey goodness. Today I was faced with one of the most difficult challenges of the summer: to pick, from all the yummy, refreshing loveliness, only two flavors. However, after thoughtful consideration, I made my decision. Cinnamon and the strawberries and cream (it had an Italian name...but I forgot it. I blame being gelato wasted).

Both were amazing. They had such creamy, smooth textures and light yet flavorful tastes. Eating my small cup instantly reminded me of the time I spent in Venice years ago. From the textures, to the flavors, to the serving size, I walked and reminisced of afternoons strolling the many arcades and alleys of Venezia, enjoying a small cup of gelato. Today, while I walked the avenues of Old Town, I instantly felt that same sensation that tingled my taste buds as I did in Venice.

So, obviously I'm coming back here. Life just isn't complete unless you let your pleasures dictate your life.

Quite possibly my favorite place for gelato! This little gem is tucked nicely away in the Miller Alley adjacent to Sushi Roku and Gold Class Cinemas.

Just a short 3-4 minute walk away from the more visible gelato shop of Piccomolo on Colorado, one would never know that better tasting and higher quality gelato was that quickly available. IT IS worth burning a few extra calories to head over to Tutti Gelati and indulge in a truer Italian gelato experience.

I've had a variety of gelato and sorbet here and have yet to be disappointed. Their texture/consistency is perfect! When ordering, you may want to consider ordering two flavors. I enjoy the following flavors most:
    Zabaglione (Egg Custard & Port)
    Bacio (Chocolate Hazelnut)
    Malaga (Rum Raisin)
    Pistachio
    Fondant (Chocolate & Chocolate Chip)
    Stracciatella (Chocolate Chip)
    Lemon Sorbet

If you decide to forgo enjoying your yummy frozen treat while strolling down Colorado, you can take it to go. They'll put a lid on your order, wrap it in aluminum foil and bag it for you (well, at least they do for me!).

Delicious!!!  But first things first, SERVICE!!!!!!  Here I was, in Monrovia, and had a hankering for gelato.  This was the only place that came to mind.  So, off we went, 9:35 hopping on the 210 freeway, buzzing past everybody to get to the gelato....  9:45 we parked the car, 9:50 we were at the front door, saddened to see that they had already closed.  The gentleman working there was kind enough to open his doors for us, and serve us.  How amazing.  I have now officially found my place for gelato. Ambiance outside the establishment was also just right.  We sat on a bench in between 2 tall brick buildings, and them music in the background was convincing enough to make me believe that I was somewhere far away, on a vacation enjoying this sweet treat.  Perfect way to end a night.  Tiny spoonfuls of deliciousness.

In terms of flavor and texture, this place does pretty well. I liked their Fior di Latte & Mascarpone, but when I went in there tonight, the guy said they don't have Fior di Latte anymore. Ma Perche?

The people who work here can be rude sometimes, perhaps unintentionally, but it's as if they want to gouge your eyes out for not knowing exactly what you want within three seconds. Sorry, no time to actually check which flavors you have, and G-d forbid you ask about a flavor, as the lady in front of me did. "It's good, that's why there's not much of it left."  Wow, that was exceedingly helpful.

After lunch, my relative is craving for gelato, and this place is right below the Cafe Santorini, very convenience.  We went in and look at the flavors and try to decide what to have, we probably tried over 8 different flavors and the guy behind the gelato counter was very patient and helpful.  We end up getting three flavors, one of the new flavor..forgot the name.. it's some kindda italian cheese gelato, walnut and strawberry/lime sorbet.  I love that italian cheese gelato, it's so rich and creamy, and eating alternate with refreshing sorbet was just a perfect combination.  Three of us girls keeps eating and shop in forever 21... ah... perfecto.  Cloth and gelato are pretty good match.  =)

ps. Small cup can have two flavors, larger cup can have three flavors.

I love Tutti Gelati as much as I loved Tootie from "The Facts of Life." Come on, you can't tell me you didn't love her too!

I haven't actually had the gelato...just the sorbet. The best is the banana. It's like eating a perfectly ripe banana that has been frozen and mashed up. Not too sweet, just right. The watermelon and raspberry are delicious as well.

Pasadena is lucky to have Tutti Gelati it has a nice creamy consistency to it, but is lacking the subtle flavor punch of Pazzo Gelato, and Bulgarini.  But hey those to places aren't within walking distance of all the other fun places on Colorado, so Tutti is a great find for someone with a wandering sweet tooth like me.

It's a bit tricky to find, hidden in a back plaza near sushi roku.  I like their fruity flavors better then their chocolate, and vanilla flavors.  The sorbet is pretty darn good as well :), no limit on how many flavors you can try here!!!!

Tutti Gelati, you kick ass.  Whose ass?  You kick Pazzo Gelato's ass on Sunset Blvd.  You double kick Scoop's ass next to LACC.  You can pick up Al Gelato's ass from the floor on Robertson.  You even kick Pinkberry's ass, though you both belong to different dessert camps.  I think my search for authentic Italian gelato to rekindle Milano memories has ended in Pasadena.

When I finally found Tutti Gelati (timidly tucked away in an alley next to the theatre and Sushi Roku), my expectations were low due to repeated disappointments for LA gelato parlors.

I was in for a pleasant surprise when I requested to sample my favorite flavor - hazelnut.  The rich, nutty flavor bursted in my mouth.  The creamy texture reminded me of how AUTHENTIC gelato was suppose to taste.  I was in heaven.  My spoon had wings.

I, then, requested to sample five more flavors before I was truly convinced that I had found THE ONE - pistachio (w/pieces of real nuts), peanut butter (to perfection!), caramel cappucino (heavenly mix of goodness  - each has a distinct taste that complemented each other), creme brulee (thick and creamy) and chocolate chip (perfect blend).  I've yet to try the sorbets but just from looking at it, you can tell it stays true to its flavor and will be delicious.  Perfectly sweetened.

So will I stop my search for the perfect gelato?  No, it doesn't end here.  There are more fake gelato parlors out there in Los Angeles for me to rip apart in reviews.

For "just ice cream," this place is expensive. But you get what you pay for.

Fuck all those trendy 'gelato' places that charge you up the arse for nothing better than ice cream you could get from the grocery store. (Even worse are the "low-cal" ones. Are you serious?! Low-cal gelato?! That's like kosher Filipino food.) This place is the real deal. One tiny little cup is something like four bucks, but I honestly couldn't eat more than that little cup - it is just too rich and intense. And the flavors are so unusual - hazelnut, zabaglione, mascarpone, amaretto.

I get the chocolate hazelnut every time. I don't notice the service and whether it sucks or not because I'm too busy stuffing my face.

Tasting and critiquing local fare while traveling can be tricky; your palate may not be accustomed to the myriad nuances in flavor; especially after having lived twenty-five years in trans fats and salt-brimming, sugar-soaked foods. That was my first impulse as to why I preferred Pasadena's Tutti Gelati to most of the (excellent, mind you) gelati from a recent trip to Florence, Cinque Terre, Rome and Venice.. but a little research has shown that Tutti may be more a slice of Italy than Americana.

From their website: "We import the best, including chocolate, nuts, liquors, from our partners in Milan who have produced traditional Italian desserts since 1929. Locally, we choose the finest natural ingredients, including fresh hand-selected fruits and rich cream."

Tutti has two flavors I wouldn't trade for the finest I tried from Europe's Boot:

    Cinnamon [ 5 stars ]
    ---------------
A divine combination of rich cream swimming with cinnamon spices. I find the texture more smooth and creamy than the oft-praised Bulgarini Gelato ( whose pistachio gelato I adore ).

    Peanut Butter [ 5 stars ]
    -------------------
I am typically not a fan of dessert items containing / resembling peanut butter ( ie. reese's, p.b. cookies, etc ) until I sampled some of my girlfriends peanut butter gelato from Tutti. A perfect balance of peanut-butter to cream, salt to sweetness. It was surprisingly amazing.

    ---

    Service [ 5 stars ]
    ----------
They've always been friendly and helpful and don't mind letting me sample as much as I'd like.

    Atmosphere [ 3.5 stars ]
    -----------------
Housed in an Old Town Pasadena brick building, Tutti is small, clean and fairly modern. Seating is outside which can be a nuisance in cold weather.

    Would I recommend it?
Definitely. Tutti is somehow pinned as the underdog to places like Bulgarini and Scoops, though I think it dishes out its cream in leaps and bounds ahead of its competitors.

You'll find Tutti Gelati in a cute little area off Colorado Blvd. (by Sushi Roku and the movie theatre) with faux cobblestone alleys. They tried to class up the nearby Johnny Rockets by putting Parisian cafe-style chairs outside, which I found rather amusing.

Anyway, on to the important stuff....It's not the best gelato, but also not the worst.  The prices are reasonable, the small I think was $3.75 and big enough for two flavors.

The mascarpone was pretty good, the caramel was just ok. I probably should have gone with the coffee caramel flavor, which was less sweet. Also tasted the stracciatella (choc chip), nothing spectacular. This place is fine if you're in the area, but not really worth a long trek.

*as far as I understand, Tutti Gelati is the first and still the best Gelato place in Pasadena.

*The hidden away location (behind Crates &Barrel, below Café Satorni) usually results in very short line or no lines.

*My favorites are pistachio, peach, blueberry, mocha, melon, hazelnut, etc. etc. etc.. are taste very fresh and no most importantly "natural", none of the artificial crap.

*It's pretty expensive, so make sure you sample as many flavors as you can before committing to ordering .;)

The location is a little hidden, and there's a surplus of outdoor seating, Their location is right next to the hidden Sushi Roku, in Old Town. It's a little square, with a movie theater, Johnny Rockets, Il Fornaio, and some other retail stores. Very dainty.

You get inside, and it's pretty much all about gelato. Straight to the point. Other then the gelato fridge, it doesn't have much room for anything else, but who needs anything else? Try as many flavors as you like, because they never complain. It's pretty crowded in the summer time, but off-season, it's pretty quiet.

It's a versatile spot. Great for a date, for Family outings, for Friends even. It's tucked away from the pedestrian traffic of Old Town. Oh yes, and the gelato here is YUMMY!

About $5.50 for a large. Get two flavors, and share it with someone =).

Watch your step when you come in here. You might trip or run into a metal bar. You'll see what I mean when you go in.

It's pretty hard to find bad gelato. I've been to a few places, and they've all been yummier than regular ice cream. This place is no exception. I love all the creamy flavors.

This one's not my favorite just because the staff wasn't the friendliest when I went, and the presentation was just boring compared to other places like Piccomolo. The variety isn't exactly overwhelming either.

Tutti Gelati is located in Old Town pasadena right next to Cafe Santorini across from the movie theatre and courtyard area. My brother, cousin and I were craving gelato and stopped in for an array of yummy gelato flavors and afterwards enjoyed our gelato in the chilled courtyard area.

The gelato texture is creamy and silky- my favorite was pineapple sorbet, mascarpone cheese and classic yogurt. I wasn't too keen on the tiramisu which what I usually get at any gelato place. They also have interesting flavors like cabarnet sauvignon (had a sample and it really tastes like it!). I'd definitely come back to try some more of their other flavors.

A great place for desert after eating at any of the surrounding resturaunts. Especially if its a hot summer night like it seems to be every night.

Probably one of the best Gelato shops in the SGV area. They supply most of the Italian restaurants with their gelato and it's very good in either place.

The only problem is the parking, and some of the employees (usually the guys) are really sourpusses. There is one girl that waited on us and she was excellent as she had great knowledge of the products.

The hours aren't great especially when Google says, 11am to 11pm when you go down there, its closed and the guys (usually) will shut the door in your face. 9pm is too early to close, but I do have to drive 20 minutes from my house to get there. Oh well, maybe I'll find another one popping up! They are getting more popular now.

I was in Pasadena a couple of weeks ago, and went back to my favorite spot for gelato. Well, second favorite... first place would go to the location right next to the Trevi Fountain in Rome.

Oh man, what can I say... this gelato is the bomb. That's right, I said "the bomb". I've had several flavors strawberry, mocha chip, chocolate... all good, but this last time, I went for the stracciatella. It was perfect in texture and flavor.

I'll be back in Pasadena this Sunday for the Susan G. Komen race for the cure. And you can bet your ass I'll be getting a medium instead of a small after running that 5k.

Not the best, but it was still yummy. In a really cute area with stores, and brick pavings.

I sampled a lot of the flavors, and some were too sweet. I decided on the coconut (pieces of coconut in it) and the caramel coffee one (caramel swirls), and it was good.

The consistency isn't the real deal was my main disappointment, and they didn't have anything different for flavors.

    Pros:
    -Affordable.
-Tasty gelati (Gelati is plural for gelato).

    Cons:
-Does not accept credit cards, and it's tough to find an ATM nearby.

Tutti Gelati is the real deal.  This is the only gelato that comes close to the heaven on earth that I found the first time I tried gelato in Italy.  The texture, smoothness, creaminess is exquisite.  The flavors are crowd pleasers.  Some of my favorites are the tiramisu, amaretto, creme brulee, zabaglione, mascarpone and just about every other flavor they serve.

I went in recently during a weekday and found Tutti unexpectedly empty.  The delightful young lady serving gave me a taste of basically every flavor in the case, and encouraged me to try more.  That was an unexpected treat.  I find the staff are very helpful and friendly, but in proportion to the length of the line of people waiting to be served.

They also have seasonal treats such as pumpkin in the fall that are not to be missed.  And some new inventions such as the cinnamon are terrific.

The choices are endless. Flavors To die for, and you must try the creme brûlée gelato with caramel. Pistachio gelato is amazing. Great pricing and very cute atmosphere located in the courtyard across from gold class cinemas below an Italian restaurant. Great after dinner topper or for a great ending a perfect date night. Don't miss this wonderful place.
