After walking around Hoboken looking for a place to eat, my bf and I stumbled upon a Tutta Pasta. It looked like a really nice Italian restaurant and we wanted to try it out. Anyways, it was about 11:25pm and as soon as we walked in the waiters were nice to tell us that the kitchen was going to close in 10 minutes but they can still serve us.
We ordered the fried calamari, lasagna and mojito.
I was worried about the quality of the food since the kitchen was closing soon but surprisingly the food was hot and good. Apart from eating at the occasional Olive Garden I dont eat at much Italian restaurants, so I have to say the food was pretty good and maybe authentic Italian food. I dont know. The mojito was excellent. It was very well made. After a couple of sips I was feeling good. The servers were nice and the restaurant had a few patrons so it wasnt crowded. . Anyways, my bf and I liked Tutta Pasta and we'll come back again, but a little earlier.

This is the most over-rated restaurant in Hoboken.  The reason I even gave Tutta Pasta two stars is because the service was excellent.  You receive great treatment from the time you walk in, until the time you walk out.  However, that is a way for them to sugarcoat the nickel and diming they bring out to your table.

My big complaint is that the food is mediocre at best and the portions are for hobbits.  Get a salad the size of one piece of lettuce and 5 penne noodles dabbled with vodka sauce.  My dinner date, ordered extra artichokes for her pasta and a mince of artichoke was put in there.  We did not bother with dessert and instead went to Cold Stone.

Next, the wine.  Do yourself a favor before over spending on a bottle of wine, go the hudson, grab some grapes from the local store and blend.  There, Tutta Pasta!

"Meh, I've experienced better" pretty much hits the nail on the head for Tutta Pasta. From the generic, "I live with my grandmother" interior to the staff that resembles the cast of Night of the Living Dead, I can't say that I was particularly enthused.

The service was actually good - it just made you feel as if they were servants rather than servers, with a look on their face that said "Ugh. Customers. If I *must*."

Food-wise, the lasagna was okay. The wine was blah. In fact, the whole experience was one of mediocrity, including the final bill, which was overpriced and took a bloody long time to get collected.

Oh, the place was empty. For shame.

Tutta Pasta is good, specifically good enough for me to go back and try more of the menu, but I can't say it's great, yet.

I liked the location and enjoyed the outdoor seating. The menu had an interesting variety to it and found myself having quite a few choices I was interested in exploring. I do agree with other reviewers that the service was a bit on the slow side but don't agree with reviewers that feel the food is mediocre at best.

Based on what I tried, I thought overall the food was good:
-Tried the calamari (I'm not a big fan, but gave in), thought it was good.
-Had the Spinach Ravioli which was very good - cooked perfectly and complimented with a sauce
-Off their specials menu, I tried the Lobster Seafood Combo with Black Linguine (overpriced at $34 and I knew it, but wanted to have it anyway). I wasn't disappointed and am glad I tried the black linguine - excellent
-Chocolate Lava Cake was exactly what it should have been. Your classic warm chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream dessert that you shouldn't have ordered because you were already full, but it was too damn good to stop eating.

Will probably be back (maybe will dip my toe back in with the lunch menu since I somehow dropped a bill here spending on $14 on booze).

Danny Aiello is a great actor, but the chef he has sucks.
The food is no longer Italian. Maybe the chef is Albanian. Great Service, but horrible food.

Jersey personified: cheap, cheerful, and overblown Italian-American. Don't get a pizza here -- you'll be disappointed.

We asked the waiter (jokingly) if Danny Aiello was around, and lo -- he was sitting out front being interviewed with a TV camera. The waiter offered (threatened) to introduce us, so we made a hasty getaway after paying. The cabonara was good, as were the red and white sangrias.

Yeah yeah, the food is good not great. Have the Squid Ink Linguine, the shrimp with Broccoli Rabe, the Spinach Ravioli.
There is a full bar, an interesting wine list, serviceable selection of beers.
Service is friendly and very welcoming.
Desserts are kind of forgettable.
The dining room gets crowded and noisy late and on weekends, come early and/or on a weeknight.
This is a fun spot, reasonably priced. It is a great first date spot, guys. Your date will feel comfortable , much more comfortable than if you take her to a high end trophy restaurant and spend a fortune.
I was thinking about Tutta Pasta because I took Theresa there on our first date. And tomorrow is our eleventh wedding anniversary. See? It worked!

Not bad for a quick pasta fix.  Post-collegiate and grad student types are the main clientele.  Food was good but not stellar.

Casual decor and decent service.  (Not too slow and not to rushed.)
We went at on off time - so I bet it can get crazy on weekend nights.

I went here on a hot Hoboken night a few weeks ago. We managed to score an outside table, which is always the best to enjoy the night. They also have one of the larger outside seating areas in Hoboken.

The service was a little on the slow side, but we got our bread and wine relatively quickly. I ordered the rolled chicken stuffed with ricotta and spinach, which was delicious, but the side pasta had a funny aftertaste to the sauce, so I didn't end up eating all of it. My boyfriend got the lobster raviolis, which he loved.

I had been to Tutta Pasta a couple summers ago, and got one of the regular pastas with a red sauce, and thought that was delicious, so it may have just been the particular pasta I get. I've always seen a ton of people at Tutta Pasta, and I think it's a good Italian restaurant, and a lot cheaper than some of the Manhattan places.

I've only been here once, and was not overly impressed. We came for an early evening dinner with my gf. Service was pretty good; food was.. ok. Much better options for Italian food anywhere else on Washington street. Prices weren't too cheap. The worst part is the seating inside - it was possibly the most crowded setup for a restaurant I've ever seen in my life. Everyone's tables are literally right on top of one another.. my girlfriend dropped her napkin and reached over to pick it up, and accidentally slammed into the guy right next to us since their table was so close. Ridiculous.  1.5 stars (the locale is nice and it would be ok for lunch or if you eat outside). I'd say this place is overrated, but I've never heard of anyone describing it as a top notch place, so that'd be inaccurate.

The food at Tutta Pasta was pretty good.

I went with a party of 4 on a Sunday night around 8:30 pm.  We were seated immediately.  Bread was brought to the table warm and we ordered farly quickly.

But that is when it kind of went downhill.  First, we asked for some basalmic vinegar and olive oil to go with the bread.  When the waiter brought it over, he must have held it at a weird angle because it spilled all over the table.  Instead of changing the table cloth, the waiters put a huge napkin over the spot which soaked through immediately.  The smell of vinegar the whole night was lovely as well.

After that fiasco, our orders were taken and after waiting what seemed like an eternity, our orders finally arrive.. except they were not our orders!!

They were orders for another person's table.  They started putting cheese and fresh pepper even though we were trying to tell them this was not our food!  They removed our food and we saw them serve it to the right table.

We waited still longer and finally our food came out.  The food was decent but the service was so terrible that it really overshadowed the food.

I don't think I could understand even if it was a busy Saturday night, so a slow Sunday night just doesn't make any sense.

Despite all of it, I thought it was an okay place and if I was in Hoboken and craved Italian I might come here again.  If I was in Jersey City, I'd eat at my local Italian place hands down.

A mix of decent Italian food and crowded seating, with snobbish waitstaff and you have to ask for olive oil and vinegar to go with your bread at the beginning... apparently they have live jazz and a comedy show here certain weeknights, too, but I haven't been here around that time yet.

The food is usually swift and delicious, including Grandma's special, a mix  of meatballs (huge), sausage and pasta that leaves a person's stomach over-full. As well, a bit salty but people didn't seem to mind that so long as their water glasses were filled (which fortunately was done regularly by the staff).

The outside of this restaurant looked really cute and there was no wait, so we went in.

We had high hopes, and were just a bit disappointed. Their caesar salad was drenched in creamy dressing. I could only eat about half of it before all I could taste was caesar dressing. So we moved on to our entrees.

Steven had the penne a la vodka. It was perfectly delicious and came out hot. I had the pesto gnocchi. It was cooked perfectly and served hot. A little too much pesto for me, but very good.

Their wine list was not very good...

Good ambiance and great service.

For the longest time at work, if we were craving Italian food we would get into our cars and drive to Olive Garden. I know, shoot me now.

But my friend gladly told me about this place, and it has now become my fave Italian restaurant in Jersey. And that's saying something, considering how many Italian restaurants are here in jersey.

Yes, there is a comedy club upstairs called Danny's Upstairs. Did you know that "Danny" is actually actor Danny Aiello? Yeah, Sal from "Do the Right Thing" is one of the owners of Tutta Pasta. Come down on Saturdays and you'll more than likely see him just hanging out front. Great guy and a real gentleman.

As for the food, tres delicioso. I just love the chicken francese, it's very light and quite juicy. The pasta, like the chicken francese, is very light as well. So when I eat alot of it, and you know that I do, I don't get that heavy, oh my god i'm full feeling.

What used to be four stars loses two stars for cattle-car seating and overly-salty food.  The minestrone soup was cooked in brine, I think.  The Veal Saltimbuco, which by dint of "salt" in its name must call the chef to arms, was another diuretic.  I will say this, the attention to filling your water glass was superb; however, the pouring of wine was not.

Two stars.  That's it.  Move along, nothing to eat here.

Was feeling emaciated and went to the first restaurant we came across. Nice & simple outdoor dining, absolutely non-pretentious, yummy bruschetta, descent wines, and so-so pasta. Slightly over-staffed and the servers were pretty laid back (which some people can interpret as lazy). It's a mediocre pasta joint, go with zero expectations, but somewhere else if you want "wow".

I've been passing by Tutta Pasta for so long but never tried it. Everytime I pass by, though, I've always noticed that there's a healthy number of people inside. So when a friend of mine wanted to visit Hoboken, I thought of taking it as an opportunity to try something new and I'm glad we did.

The food was great. A little dense with cream and on the heavy side but very flavorful. The pasta was well cooked as well. The only drawback is the waitstaff. I could be wrong, but they're just not warming up to their customers so much. Twice I've felt that I needed to ask for a recommendation before they would reciprocate. Too bad, I would've given a better rating.

I'd still recommend it though.

Coming in, I had really high hopes for this place.  There is good Italian food in Chicago, but nothing reminds me of the old school Italian I grew up on during my childhood in Jersey.

Sadly, Tutta Pasta did not deliver.  The food wasn't bad, but it was average at best.  We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer, thinking it would be huge mushroom caps stuffed with goodness.  Sadly, it was 4 tiny mushrooms - for $13.95?  This kind of set the evening off poorly for us.

All 3 of us had pasta dishes, and they were varying degrees of meh to good.  My rigatoni vodka had no kick whatsoever - it was one of the most bland sauces I ever had.  My friend's lasagna was ok, but honestly - she could do better at home.  My other friend had the spinach ravioli, and he seemed to fare the best out of all of us.

The service was great.  But the food is just ok.  It'll work if you're in Hoboken, but it's not worth a trip from Chicago for.

Came here a few weeks back for a comedy night upstairs.  Drinks were good, pizza was okay, but the BRUCHETTA amazing!

The comedy acts were all very entertaining and there was a nice miz of style.  Definitely worth the $$ to see the show especially if you live in Hoboken and do not want to venture all the way into the city.

Great Times!

My husband really likes this place, he's not adventurous, and it's not a place to go for people who want "out there" food. If you're a foodie person, you'll find it good, but not great. It's also priced fairly reasonable for the area. We just went there with my aunt, uncle, cousin and another person from Sweden and they enjoyed sitting outside. The staff didn't rush us, but it was a Thursday night, not Friday or Saturday.

I love the Rigatoni Vodka, too, and it never disappoints!

Had a really enjoyable experience at this place. Went with a friend for a late lunch on a weekday- it was pretty empty as most places in Hoboken are during the work week. We sat outside where they have a nice sized eating area and a good spot for people watching. The food was excellent- I tasted the garlicy bruschetta served with kalamata olives, the artichoke pesto linguini (mmm!) and tiramisu. It was both of our birthdays and the staff sang to us. They were very attentive the whole time.

Edit: Went back again recently on a busy Saturday night and things were a little more chaotic. I recommend getting the pasta dishes here (the pasta is homemade and the sauces are good). I was disappointed with other varieties of dishes we tried.

Another Edit: Went back again and the food was pretty bland and the service was slow. Knockin it down a star.

Above average food, but they squeeze in the tables, so that the guests are like livestock waiting for corn. The service is memorable - aloof with a hint of elitism - apparently we should feel lucky to be there in the first place. Then, of course, they try to rush you out with intimidating looks when you're done. All of this, with the faint hint of body odor throughout our corner of the room. Who was it? The server? The woman next to me? Did I forget to shower this week? My mistake. There must be better pizzerias/Italian restaurants near the train station. Find one.

This review is for the Danny's Upstairs Comedy Club.  It is connected to Tutta Pasta.

My husband and I went to Danny's after hearing about the club a few months ago.  We enjoy going to comedy clubs and frequent several in NYC and have even been to a rival comedy club in hoboken.  I read that it was recommended to make reservations as spaces fill up quick, however, upon arrival we were the only ones there.  A few more people shuffled in but in no way was the club full and I now know why.  Although there was a decent amount of comedian's performing there was only one that was actually funny.  The rest seemed either super coked up or could only awkwardly make fun of the audience.  Overall, it was an uncomfortable and somewhat boring at times evening....certainly not worth the $100 plus we dropped on drinks and one appetizer.  There are much better clubs in the city with cheaper covers and cheaper drinks.  Danny's was a real disappointment especially since we live in Hoboken.  Save your money for cheaper better clubs in Manhattan.

We went during the late afternoon when things were slow so we had no problems with the service.  I had salmon wrapped around asparagus and red peppers and loved it!!!  Too bad it's a special (salmon alla cognac) because I would order it all the time.  The bruschetta was great.  My table had cheese ravioli, chicken marsala, pasta alla vodka as well and all were very good.  Bill came to about $120 for 5 people with one bottle of wine.

After hearing some hype on this place about their pizza, I had to try it. The food is good, but was disappointed with the signature pizza. Ordered the escarole antipast, Grandmas special mix, and pizza. Everything was delicious, but the pizza was a little black on the crust. Dessert is definitely a no go in this place.  Service was excellent (my glass was always full)!

Tasty food for a decent price.  A bit too crowded during the winter without the outside patio, but for warmer weather it opens up the room and. The service was ok, it started out better than it ended. If you go when it isn't packed, it can be a very nice dinner. I'm a fan of the menu selection, and I'll go back to try something else!
