located in a large strip mall the inside is nicer than the outside. I had the lasagna which was good. I would order it again. everything else was great as well. I would go back

Nice Italian restaurant right in the middle of Westchester County. Not much of anything else around, Yorktown NY is ten minutes away, nothing there except a really cool Starbucks.
So I'm eating a truffle pizza and sitting inside the restaurant is Tom Brokaw, sitting at a tiny table, alone, reading newspapers.
Pizza was good and not expensive, 9.99 for a ten inch pie. Washed it down with a glass of Barefoot Merlot. -

This is becoming one of our favorite places for very good italian food. The fig and prosciutto bruschetta is a wonderful change from the regular tomato based one.
The selection of wines from the varous parts of Italy is very good.
The kitchen is flexible and creative. They have made me a great pizza putanesca the other night.
Best of all is the wait-staff. Gaitano is our favorite waiter. He is very knowledgable and helpful escpecially with choosing the right wine. -

We loved Tuscan Oven. Found it on a whim passing through from New York to Boston. The spinach dipping sauce served with the bread is fabulous. The pasta is fresh and the entrees are good sized. Service was efficient and attentive. Tuscan Oven is one of those unforgettable italian restaurants.

I'm really not sure how some people gave this joint any more than 2 stars. I wanted to like it, because it's so pretty inside. I ate there with two other people. My pasta dish was okay. Another person thought theirs was terrible, and the third, well, had to send his dish back because there was a hair in it.
Our waiter was not so friendly and replaced his dish without much apology (he did see the hair too) and didn't take anything off the bill. We're not trying to cop freebies here necessarily, but at least a genuine apology would've been nice. -

Tuscan Oven is a terrific restaurant: wonderful Italian country decor, a cozy bar, and the dining room is divided into three areas, which allows for some quiet in what would be a booming room. The service is quite welcoming and the staff remembers customers, which always makes such a difference when returning. I've only been to the Mt. Kisco location, but I've been there several times.
The wine list features extensive selections from Italy (Wine Spectator Award of Excellence last year), and I enjoy trying to ask for something that they don't have. The staff always has come up with a recommendation in line (and not the most expensive bottle!). The manager remembered my interest and gave me a small book about Italian wines that he had received from his supplier. It was so thoughtful.
The food includes personal pizzas which are prepared in a brick oven, but also a strong selection of Italian dishes. The selection of Italian cheeses with figs, honey and chutney is terrific, as is the antipasto, both of which share well.
For the first course, there are a variety of pastas, which are varied enough to allow for return visits. I've never made it to a second course, because the shared appetizer, a first course and either a pizza or a salad are plenty to eat. My son (recent college grad.) loves the roast chicken, though, and the steak, which is a splurge. I almost always get something from the seasonal specials menu. The seafood has been especially strong, with shrimp dishes that have always hit the spot.
The dessert menu is very strong, with a coffee/chocolate cake that is just overwhelming, and a variety of after dinner drinks that make for very comfortable lingering. In this beautiful setting, I have to admit, I've done my share of lingering there. Some of my favorite special occasion dinners have taken place at Tuscan Oven. -

Mount Kisco, NY
Not sure why this place was so crowded on a Saturday night...but it has probably benefited from the lack of great Italian food in the area.
Pro's:
Good Ambiance - especially given that its in a strip mall.
Generous cocktails - great female bartender
Great hostess - she was attentive to our reservation given the crowd
Our server - Pedro - was very attentive and accommodating.
Cons:
Food was OK. The calamari was not crispy and the dipping sauces were bland. My wife ordered the Chicken Milanese and it was a nice portion and cooked very well. I tried to order off the menu. They had a Veal Chop and I wanted Veal Milanese. It wasn't breaded like the chicken Milanese and was off the bone.
The wine list featured lots of reds but too few whites - only 2 chardonnays????
How hard is it to get real Italian bread instead of a doughy loaf.
Not sure I would try this again...

Well, we tried Tuscan Oven again and it was somewhat of a disappointment. We both started with the tricolor salad which had a very tangy dressing and very bland blue cheese. We then waited 25+ minutes for the main course. I ordered fettuccine with wild boar ragu which was very tasty. The main problem was that my wife ordered the mussels and they smelled rancid. They were kind enough to take them back but the smell was so obvious that they should have never served them. It's a shame because the pasta was very good and very fresh.
