* High quality Indian buffet in downtown Sunnyvale for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians at family friendly prices. *

You would think for any $13 dinner buffet the food would suck. You get what you pay for right?

Exact opposite.

The full buffet line of friendly Indian engineers and Indian families on a Friday night tell me this grub is the real deal.

Turmeric has non-vegetarian items from the goat curries to the tandoor'd chicken. The vegetarian items range from palak paneer to daal (oh my - the daal is ridiculously good here), and a bunch of other stuff I ate but didn't care to see what it was because it just tasted THAT good.

They even have something I've never seen before. A station island to make a dish like Indian nachos. Papadums maybe? Crispy chips that you put on a plate and then top it with all sorts of items like chutneys, something that looked like sour cream, and all sorts of other delicious knick knack ingredients.

Their gulab jamun (rice dessert) mixed in with the mango pudding is a taste that I'll now crave. Definitely not a flavor that any American dessert can satisfy.

TOTALLY love this place. It was one of the first Indian restaurants I went to that forever converted me to Indian cuisine.

Turmeric is a great "beginner's Indian buffet" as it is a very nice place. Great selection and exceptional taste. It's great for people who have never tried it as it feels very inviting and it's not so overwhelming as having over half a dozen curries to choose from. There's not too many choices to totally seem like a maze of food.

It's in beautiful downtown Sunnyvale and it is very affordably priced. The lunch buffet is excellent.

I've had birthdays there, my mom has had birthdays there, it's always great. I've even got to chat with the owner-chef and his wife who is part of the serving staff and they're great folks. The owner-chef has cooked for an incredible lineup of famous folks and royal families throughout the world.

I HIGHLY recommend.

For those who seem the "advanced" Indian buffet, try Bombay Gardens in Fremont or Santa Clara. ;)

oh!

If you reserve it or it's available, there's ONE outdoor table of four on the balcony. Super cool cause it overlooks Murphy Ave. and downtown Sunnyvale. HIGHLY HIGHLy recommend it. =) It makes a lovely lunch date fellas. ;)

Had dinner here last night with the s/o and I've got to say, I was really impressed!   We entered the restaurant from the back entrance/parking lot and walked into an empty dining room, okay, not a good sign!  But the hostess at the main entrance greeted us very nicely and took us up to the 2nd floor.  Oooh, a 2nd floor?!? :)  Made our way the flight up stairs and that's where the par-tay was at!  Actually now that I think of it, that upstairs dining room would make a GREAT place for a surprise party, it definitely surprised me!

We immediately started went through the buffet and it was just a sensory explosion for me!  Well then again, I'm a total NEWB when it comes to Indian food but, have a fair knowledge of figuring what's meat, what's veggie, what's mild and what's I need a cup of ice in my mouth spicy.

I liked their Chili Chicken, the flavors were very reminiscent of a Chinese entree I've had before but with a little kick to it.  My tongue was screaming for something to cool it down but, I endured it!!  I also liked their Chicken Makhani (sp?), the sauce was really tasty on their rice and the Naan.  Lastly, the little donut balls (sorry...I told you, I'm a NEWB!) were majorly yummy!  A nice sweet treat to tame down the palate after a great meal!

The entire staff were very courteous and attentive.  They definitely managed to keep our water glasses full!  But, never did I see one ice cube in my glass, not sure why, then again, I was sucking that water down like crazy, I didn't really think about it!

For $12.95 per person, can you spell S-T-E-A-L?!  Oh wait, I just did! :)  But that's what it was!  You can't get this kind of quality of food from Hometown Buffet or the multitude of Chinese Buffets that have ridden the Bay Area.  No matter how "Crazy," "Super," "Yummy," you say your buffet is, Turmeric is in a class of it's own!

Arvind Bhargava, the owner/chef did the catering for our daughter's wedding in Corinthian, San Jose on 4/11/2009.  The food presentation, taste, and service was exceptionally great.  They were well planned and on-time and provided for complimentary food tasting before we signed the contract.  Arvind is extremely polite, professional, and gives full attention to your needs. Corinthian's staff was very pleased with their professional service.  Thanks Arvind ji.

A couple disclaimers:
1) This is a review for the dinner buffet.
2) I am by no means a connoisseur of Indian cuisine.

With that in mind, the gf was in the mood for Indian food and one of her best friends suggested we check out Turmeric for the weekend dinner buffet. The restaurant is in a two-story building located in downtown Sunnyvale. The downstairs has tables plus a bar, while the upstairs is dedicated to tables and is also the location of the buffet.

I can't vouch for the authenticity of the food, but it was definitely tasty. There were about 15 different dishes, including about 7-8 curries plus 3 different types of chicken, rice and naan. my personal favorites included the potato patties, the chicken biryani and a smattering of the curries - garbanzo beans, lamb, potatoes, spinach (my apologies for not remembering the names of the dishes). The naan was pretty good, especially when I happened to catch a fresh and crispy batch. The tandoori chicken was decent (more moist than other versions I've had) but I've never been a huge fan of it.

I know lots of people rave about the mango pudding... It was pretty good, but I don't think I would come back just for that. The fruit cocktail gave it a little more texture, but I guess I just don't quite get it.

At $13 a head, it's definitely a good deal - a good variety of tasty Indian food that you can fill up on to your gastronomic desire.

$10.95 for all you can eat Indian buffet? I'm there! Christine L. picked the place and after reading the reviews, I suggested to her and Antoinette V. that we should go for the lunch buffet and to make a reservation for 11:30 AM since it gets crowded at noon.

Well, when I arrived there was nobody there, but that didn't take long. Before I knew it, the whole top floor was full and people were up, getting their plates full or sitting and eating their food.

The layout was clean and service was attentive in re-filling our waters. There were a lot of business people there (illustrated by their name badges still on). There was a wide variety of food. My first plate had a taster of almost everything. Then my second plate consisted of two curries (both red, one with meat in it and the other with tofu) and several pieces of naan. I also enjoyed the gulab jamun which looked like a doughnut hole, but saturated in syrup. Very hot and very sweet.

Plenty of parking in the back of the place. During the weekday the street parking is only good for one hour. Overall, I felt the food was high quality and very good...definitely not your standard buffet, all you can eat food. This stuff was real good! I'm not sure how dinner is, but I'd definitely come back for lunch!

I cannot do any better than the writeups by Froyolia S, Steve L, Keiko S, and Dan B. So my sentiments are expressed more or less through their words.

Highlights: goat curry, the thingy with orange brown sauce that had cheese in it that looked like carrots, and another one that had chicken in it, naan to drown in the various sauces, tandoori chicken, spinach and corn (like a creamed spinach consistency), spinach and potato cake.

Basically a very good value, good variety and good tasting Indian buffet that surpasses Viceroy in Berkeley (from 2 visits back in 97) and Passage to India buffet (Mountain View) which don't even come close.

I came here to try the lunch buffet with two of my friends after hearing about this place from another friend of mine.

$10.95/lunch buffet

INTERIOR AMBIANCE and SERVICE:

I love the color, wall decorations and light fixtures.  The seats were comfortable (cushioned) and it had unique utensils such as the 'twisted' metal fork handle (I notice small details :) ).  The service was very good as the waitress constantly came around to pour us water and empty our plates.

FOOD:

My favorites were:

Chicken Makhani
Naan
Navrattan Korma
Cauliflower dish with almonds

There were about ~25 buffet selection items which included these desserts:

Gulab Jamun (a very thick, sweet, warm, doughy type of dessert)
Mango pudding.

WEBSITE:

I love the sophistication and layout of the website. Go ahead and take a peek.  The website looks very professionally designed reflecting on the   owner's style and quality of the food and service that was provided to us today.

I'll have to give it 5 stars if and when I head back to try the dinner menu!

Pretty typical Indian buffet, but better than most. I have to single out (double out?) the Okra and the desserts (particularly the plump, juicy Gulab Jamuns) for praise and the Kadhi for criticism. The Chaat layout at the dinner buffet was fresh but half-hearted (missing several key ingredients). Like so many Indian buffets, the food was a little too rich and little too homogeneous.

Basically, everything was good (if not great), but if I'm desiring an evening of heartburn, I'd rather go to Amber India in Mountain View. Their buffet costs more and there are fewer dishes, but I find the quality of food superior.

In the 5th grade I had a best friend who was of Indian descent... RIJU GUPTA, if you're reading this- holla back!

For a class project, she brought in a plate of these super delectable seasoned potato nuggets that were so bomb that it had me thinkin' about how awesome Indian food must be. I don't even know what they're called, but I was hoping to relive that mouth orgamism moment once again...

So my friend and I headed to Turmeric for their Sunday buffet. It was a beautiful day in DTSunnyvale and I was fiending like Jodeci for some good ol' ethnic food to fill up my famished tummy.

Good selection---- but maybe Indian food just isn't for me. I saw these potato/spinach nuggets that resembled the holy nuggets that my 5th grade friend exposed me to, but they didn't taste as heavenly. In fact, they tasted kind of like feet- when you wear pleather shoes all day without socks. The spices, the excessive oil-- my stomach couldn't hang and usually my stomach isn't one to bitch about anything.

In the evening when I had to attend my yoga class, I had to run to the restroom 30 mins into the session. It was so bad that I had to clench my asscheeks together until someone in the other stall flushed so I could drop a big fat deuce without disturbing the bathroom silence. I ended up shitting out my intestines the next day. {I'm exaggerating... kind of.}

I really wish I could've had the same experience my fellow yelpers had, but unfortunately I must nix Indian food from my diet for eternity. :(

I ate goat! And I liked it!

My boss and some co-workers took me here for my b-day yesterday. It's buffet style. The restaurant itself isn't fancy.

I can't remember all the names but I had a lovely dish with garbonzo beans, a spinach and potato patty. Some grilled chicken. Goat in a tasty red sauce. Saffron rice and naan.

I have only made Indian food at home. I have never been to an Indian restaurant so I can't compare in that way but I really enjoyed the food. It was spicy but not too spicy. It was fresh. They were constantly bringing out new stuff. They had a wide variety to choose from.

The parking was the only thing that was difficult. The area has many restaurants and was crowded during the lunch hour.

It definitely satisfied my Indian food craving.

We went for the lunch buffet and really enjoyed it.  I liked the fact that 50% of the dishes were vegetarian and 50% of the dishes were meat (I don't eat meat while my husband does).  The chanas (and batura) were very good as well as the mussalman cauliflower.  The mater paneer was yummy too just wish it hadn't been so rich but a bit lighter like my mum makes.  Actually all the dishes were a bit on the richer side (lots of cream) which left one feeling a bit heavy after eating.

The ambiance and interior of the second floor is wonderful... I loved the light filtering in and the fact that the windows were open and the nice, breezy day that we went.

The one deduct would be for the naans...  Sadly the naans I pick up from Trader Joes are much better than the ones they served here!

Excellent buffet!
All of the vegetarian dishes were delicious, as well as the naan and the two puddings offered for desert. I was really happy with the selection and the tastiness of all the dishes. The food was refilled in a timely manner, as well as my water glass (very important).
Also, the buffet is a good value. You really get you money's worth for $10.95. Woo-hoo!

I like their thali here (priced well too), but I feel like everything is salty.  Not overpoweringly so, but that seems to be the primary "flavor."  I'd still come back though, I just love my Darbar.  Turmeric does seem 'healthier' because it's less creamy.

Decor is nice, slightly fancy looking.  Maybe I'll try out the buffet.

I've always known there was an Indian restaurant in downtown Sunnyvale, but was always afraid to check it out.  So, I finally gave in a few weeks ago and now see that I was missing out!  This Indian buffet had a wide variety of dishes that I have never seen before at Indian buffets.  Everything I tasted was great and the price was right ($12 for weekend dinner).  I am glad that I finally tried out Turmeric and I will be going back!

This place was great. I came here for lunch for the first time with a coworker and really enjoyed the food.  My coworker has certain food allergies and the chef was nice enough to come out to let her know what to avoid.  They're very good about cleaning off dishes and such. I'd definitely come here again.

The South Bay/Mid Peninsula lunch crew, consisting of Dan B., David P., Lolia S., and myself met here for lunch. Dan. B has been here before and made reservations for us. Good thing, because as Lolia S. mentioned, this place is full by noon.

The South Bay has so many Indian restaurants offering lunch buffets, it's hard to try them all. Many Yelpers have given this place pretty high praise for it's buffet, and I've been looking forward to try this place.

Decor of the dining room has a lot of red and saffron yellow. Eye pleasing, and not too loud. There's one buffet line that makes a u-shaped turn at one end of room. The line can go all of the way back to the stairs.

Check out Lolia S.'s review for a very detail description of the buffet:

http://www.yelp.com/bi...

The chicken makhari and the tandoori chicken were very moist.  Also liked the goat curry. Very flavorful, no gamey taste. Veggies were a little bit on the salty side, but still very tasty.  I also noticed that the food in the steam trays were frequently replenished.

I also ordered a mango lassi. I've had mango lassis that were too watery and started to separate. The mango lassi served here was nice and tart without overpowering the distinct mango taste. It was the perfect foil for some of the spicy curry.

It was lunch time, and I had a meeting scheduled that afternoon. Should I get a second plate? Well I did, and I felt pretty stuffed. After a couple of cups of coffee, a food coma was prevented.  I made the mistake of wearing sweater, so my coworkers knew what I had for lunch.

This place is my new favorite for Indian buffet. The downside is that room is limited in size, and may be difficult to seat for large parties, unless reservations are made in advanced.

Thanks to Dan B., we (me, Dan B., Steve L., David P.) managed to beat the lunch crowd for the lunch buffet.  The trick is to get there before noon or you may have to wait for a table.  By 12:30 PM, every table was occupied and there were quite a few Indians too.  Get in line, grab a table and pay afterwards.  They're good about taking away plates and keeping your glass of water filled.

Lunch (buffet only) is served till 2:30 PM.  The food comes from all the regions of India.

For a buffet ($10.95), it's quite good - plenty of choices for vegetarians and meat eaters, homemade sauces, desserts, etc.  The food looks fresh, not like it's been sitting around for hours and it is attractively presented.   All items are labeled (with even a warning for the bones in the goat curry).

* Appetizers: veggie pakoras
* Sides: Saffron rice, Chinese Indian veggie noodles, naan
* Meat: Chicken makhari, goat curry, chicken malai kebab, tandoori chicken
* Vegetables: spinach, okra, dahl, paneer mircha, potato curry, tandoori vegetables
* Sauces: Raita, pickles, spicy mint chutney, tamarind sauce
* Dessert: Rice pudding, gulab jamun

Things were mixed together on my plate but I do remember that the tandoori chicken (thigh) was the highlight - tender, juicy and loaded with flavor.  I also liked the goat curry though you had to fish around for goat pieces (but that's to be expected at a buffet).  I liked the large squares of paneer in the paneer mircha.   Every once in awhile something actually struck me as fairly spicy. While some sauces were rich, nothing was very oily.

The rice and naan were standard.  The Chinese Indian chow mein style noodles looked interesting but weren't that flavorful.  The potato curry was too salty and so was another veg dish that I tried (okra maybe?).

Like Dan B. noted, the meal would go so well with chai but there wasn't any chai available.  This was particularly painful during dessert.  It's hard to eat a warm gulab jamun (think donut hole drenched in honey) without a hot drink.  I took a picture of the giant tureen with gulab jamun.  I wanted to eat a dozen of those but I only had one.

In terms of décor, it's much nicer than the places I usually go for Indian food (I'm used to places that look like the dining hall at ITT) with Rajasthani embroidered textiles embedded with mirrors on the wall and warm earthtones throughout.  The downstairs was closed during lunch.

This place is AWESOME!!! The buffet is totally worth it! I was pretty hesistant when I walked in and there wasn't many people on a Friday night, but I think we just arrived too early.  They offer a variety of dishes.  There's tikka masala, chicken, spinach, lamb, etc.  I'm not good at naming all the dishes, but it had a variety of different curries including naan and rice.  I've tried much better quality naan, though.  Theres veggies and a table full of sauces.  The mango pudding desert is soo addicting! It might look like nacho cheese sauce, but it tastes yummm!! One of my fav indian buffets :D

Friday, Saturday, Sunday evening dinner buffet ----- just GO! So good, the food is great, the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is very attentive.

One of my favorite Indian buffets!

Some favorite dishes of mine:
Chicken Makhani
Spinach and Potatoes (green pureed sauce)
Seafood Curry (great flavor and assorted seafood)
Papdi Chaat bar (at the white table located right in the middle of the buffet section)

I've been several times before and have been reluctant to try the Papdi Chaat because I didn't know how exactly to eat it --- so I asked their head server and he was kind enough to show me how it goes and explain what the ingredients were. And just so you can partake in the fun, the directions are below. If you like sweet, sour, and crunchy --- this dish is for you.

1) Start by piling your plate with papdis (the round fried "chips")
2) Add cooked potatoes, raw onions, and chickpeas on top
3) Liberally spoon on yogurt and tamarind sauces, the white sauce and the brown sauce with flecks in it
4) Spoon on a lot or a little of the spicy green mint/cilantro chutney, depending on how spicy you want it. That chutney has Thai chilies in it, so watch out!
5) Sprinkle on some spices like chaat masala (the brown spice in one of the three bowls at the end of the table) or chili powder to taste.
6) Mix it all together and eat! Aw yeah! The combination of the spicy, sweet, sour along with the crispy papdis is not too heavy but just right.

Go with friends on a weekend before the rush hits -- about 7:45pm is when it started to get busy.

quite possibly the most options at an indian lunch buffet ever.  and half of them seem to be vegetarian, which is super nice for me.

MUST point out though that if you want to go with a big group (like 10 or more), absolutely avoid letting them set you up in the back room.  unless you want to sit in an essentially pathetic in-law-like room with one window that you have to walk past a dirty serving station and across different carpets to get to.  just unacceptable.

my doctor and I used to go here allll the time for lunch. Its a great place to try out many different popular indian dishes. My favorite being the naan with all the curries and different sauces, especially the tikka masala, spinach dish. The price is great for the lunch buffet and includes dessert. Gets really packed at lunch.

This is such an amazing restaurant I had to update my review.  The food is off the charts - flavorful and innovative (at least for me) - but not heavy.

I am obsessing with how to make their cauliflower dish, the one with almonds.  I wish I remembered the name.  If anybody knows what I am talking about, please message me. Thanks in advance.

I would say 3.5 stars.  I went for the dinner buffett.  The service was fantastic and the food was good but nothing in particular really stood out.  Don't get me wrong, it's not bad ... it's just not great.

This was one of the first Indian restaurants I've been to..I didn't used to be very adventurous when it comes to food, but when I finally decided to try Indian cuisine out, my friend (who's Indian) recommended this as a "safe" choice for a newbie.

A few years later, I'm a lot more open to different cuisines now, and I've eaten at tons of Indian restaurants.  I didn't think my experience from here would hold up, but it did!  I went here for lunch buffet with a bunch of my coworkers (only been here previously for dinner) and I was pleasantly surprised.  Both the selection and the quality of the food was great, especially for the 10.95 price!   I actually liked their lunch buffet better than Amber India, maybe because they are a bit more generous with their spices here.

My faves were the curries (butter chicken and lamb w/ spinach), but I also liked the tandoori chicken and some fried vegetable thing.  The naan and chutney's were great too!

It took me forever to come back to this place, but I'm glad I did.  I won't wait so long next time.

We had the all you can eat lunch at here.  I thought it was really fun to try out all the different flavors since I'm not that familiar with Indian food.  We were one of the only non-Indian customers in there at the time, so I thought that was a good sign.  I would come here again for the buffet.  Price isn't bad for how much food you get and the food was tasty.

This review is for their dinner buffet.

For around $13/person, and the selection and the quality of the food that they serve, I thought that it was quite an excellent deal. As compared to some other Indian buffet restaurants that I've been to, I think that they probably offer a bit less selections of the food, but, the quality of the food makes up for it.

If you long for some very spicy ("hot") Indian food, you actually may get disappointed a little bit if you try their buffet. But, we thought that the food was very flavorful.

We wished that they had offered more dessert selections in addition to only two -- Mango Pudding and Gulab jamun.

So I went here for my friend's 18th birthday. The people working there were very friendly, and even though the downstairs wasn't open, they allowed us to chill there and celebrate and eat the birthday cake down there. They were even nice enough to provide us with plates and utensils!

As for the dinner buffet, there was a wide array of food. My favorite was the naan and all the different types of sauce you could dip it in. Yummm!

We were quite loud, but it was okay, there were a lot of families there likewise with couples. An all-around restaurant, if I say so myself. :) You can play dress up or go casual.

Oh yea, can't forget about the mango pudding! My Indian friends said that it wasn't Indian or anything, but I guess you can call it the Turmeric specialty!

Holy crap!! This place was amazing. I went the day after Christmas, and my friends and I were the only people in the restaurant, AND we got the buffet, so I don't really have a good feel for how good the service is or anything. But dude, $11.95/person for a lunch buffet of delicious food is an amazing deal. I don't know what dinner looks like, but DEFINITELY check out the lunch buffet.

Perhaps it was just good timing, since we got there shortly after it opened, but everything was extremely fresh (na'an was JUST made and brought out). Curries were great, and they had probably a little over a dozen different kinds in giant pots. Their chicken kebab meat and tandoori chicken were also fantastic, as was their mango pudding dessert. Make sure you save room for that last one!

My only complaint is probably how spicy everything is, but that's just me and my low spice tolerance. I was DYING; I'd be bringing my glass of water to the buffet table as I re-filled on food that would just prolong the insane burning my tongue was experiencing, but I was so happy to continue the torture.

Come to this place with an empty stomach and whetted appetite!

Lunch buffet, time and again, is absolutely outstanding.  Amazing quality food, and tastes that are out of this world.  I am an avid Indian buffet adventurer...and Turmeric is one of the best.  Price is very reasonable for the lunch buffet, especially for the quality.

Will come back for more and more, thank you Turmeric!

5 stars for you!

ONE OF MY BEST BITES FOR JULY 2007 - JUNE 2008
Every non-buffet meal at Turmeric should start with an order of the Manchurian Cauliflower appetizer. In fact whenever we go there with a group of friends we start with three plates of the stuff since everyone wants some. It consists of lightly breaded and lightly fried cauliflower in a slightly garlicky tomato sauce. The sauce is reminiscent of ketchup but in a good way. Really. Trust me.

Since I had claimed in my earlier review that Turmeric was the best Indian Buffet in the south bay, and since I have visited many other buffets since then, I decided it was long past time I went back.  You never know - my earlier self could have been deluded or ignorant, or the place could've changed by now.

My conclusion is this is still the best lunchtime Indian buffet in the area, hands-down.  Simply put, Turmeric is firing on all cylinders:  The setting is warm and attractive, the food is fresh & excellent, and they continue to provide a selection of old favorites plus a few unique dishes you don't see often.  Every time I've come here I have tried at least one Indian dish I've never had before. All that and the price continues to be right: $12.  I actually chuckled in surprise on my recent visit when I saw the bill.  (Though by no means the best price out there, it seemed like such a steal for my wonderful meal).  I ended up tipping extra to dissuade my guilt.

The only shortcomings I can think of are:
-- Naan is provided at the buffet, not delivered to the table.  But it was still decent.
-- Dessert options are limited (but it hardly matters, since what they do provide is always top notch)

As the governor said once: I'll be back

Very nice indian buffet - probably the only that I would go to. A problem with most indian buffets are that they double down on the number of items, but the quality is a miss. Not so at Turmeric. The number & quality is usually balanced. The tandoori chicken could be better, but the mango pudding in the buffet makes up for it. Service is also very nice.

I was here on Saturday with a group, the food was pretty good (we did the buffet) and at a decent price. Well flavored, and delicious.

I was fiending for some Indian food on a saturday night but didn't want to drop a ton of money, and did some quick restaurant search and came across Tumeric. Arrived around 7:30pm and there was no wait and got seated upstairs (buffet section).

Like many reviews have said, their selection is pretty big (in terms of curry and meat) and it does NOT look like the food has been sitting there since lunch. It really does look AND taste fresh! I really gage an Indian restaurant by the usual suspects- naan and saag. Mind you, this restaurant's saag does not have cheese - it has peas. I wish they had palak paneer instead with the cubed cheese!! But I suppose I won't die if it's peas instead. LOVE the lamb curry.. I would eat here every week if I could! Mmm mm mmm.

This review is for the lunch buffet.  Restaurant decor is really nice with great music selection.  Very good service for a buffet, in fact it's better than some of the restaurants I've been to!!

They offered about 15-20 dishes at the buffet, I've tried every single dish and I will mention some of the highlights.

Chicken Makhani (Butter chicken): **Superstar=5 stars, the best butter chicken I've had, the sauce is SO amazing on Naans. I would've liked to see the chicken pieces to be more tender though.

Chili Chicken: **Superstar=5 stars, the chicken pieces are one of the tenderest chicken I've ever had, the texture is so amazing soft, the Tabasco sauce coating was also surprisingly good.

Tandoori Chicken: **Exceptional=4.5 stars, the chicken pieces are also very tender, nicely marinated and cooked to the perfect tenderness.  I've found that Turmeric is exceptionally good at cooking meat to their perfect textures.

Malai chicken (Chicken with clotted cream) **Exceptional=4.5 stars, the chicken breast pieces are so tender, and the clotted cream was sweet, a hint of sour, and very creamy. The chicken and the clotted cream worked together beautifully.

Goat curry **Exceptional=4.5 stars, melt in my mouth pieces of goat with a spicy curry sauce mixed with saffaron rice is so good.

Cauliflower and peas curry **Exceptional=4.5 stars, I really like the cauliflower in this dish, the cauliflower is cooked to the perfect tenderness and it absorbs the curry really well, the peas are just okay.

Mango pudding **Exceptional=4.5 stars, I can taste the fresh mango in the pudding, and the variety of other fruit pieces are extra bonus. I wish they would put in freshly cut fruits instead of canned fruits though. I really like the papaya in the pudding, I didn't care too much about the other fruits like pear, etc. because their texture isn't as smooth which doesn't go well with the smoothness of the pudding.

The first time I went here I ordered off the menu, and I remember enjoying my meal -- although it still wasn't as good as my favorite restaurant, Amber India.

The second time, I decided to try the buffet. Even though I usually avoid Indian buffets in general, all of the good reviews made me curious. Although tasty at first, the dishes filled me up pretty quick due to the fact that they were so laden with cream and oil. The spices were delicious, but I felt very heavy after eating a small plate of food. I didn't even want to try a galab jamun for dessert, despite the fact that I usually indulge in them when I go out for Indian. Although they were tasty, the sauces seemed like they had come straight out of a tin can and were then reheated. It wasn't terrible, but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.

I tried the lunch buffet on Saturday.  The food was strangely not very flavorful.  Indian food w/ no heat?  I spent most of my meal searching for some spice and flavor.  Which on a positive note made me try a few dishes I wouldn't have ordinarily been drawn to (tried goat for the first time yay me!!).  The upper room where the buffet was set up was kind of drafty so my food ended up getting cold really fast.   Our empty plates were cleared very quickly and the food in the buffet line was kept in stock that was a plus.

I'm a naan fiend and found theirs to be kind of inconsistent some pieces were thick and doughy others thin and crumbly.  They had a masala dish with tofu cubes (I noted that the sauce was a little sweet for my taste but whatever) something I haven't seen at any other buffets so that was something new.

I left with a full belly and a somewhat unsatisfied pallet.  It's that feeling you get when you have a taste for something specific and what you end up eating doesn't quite hit the mark.  I don't think I  would go out of my way to come back but if I was already in the area I wouldn't totally rule it out as an option, the buffet price was reasonable.
