It's a great place for a large-group dinner.  We were a group of 12 and, despite the slightly lengthy ordering process, we all enjoyed the food and the company.  I especially liked their zucchini pancakes and the babaganouj for appetizers and the yogurt chicken kebab for entree.  BYOB also adds lots of bonus points to the place, and we easily emptied 8 bottles of self-selected wines.

Witty and fast service.  Be sure not to ask, "So, what's good here?"  When I did, the waitress looked at me and said, in a stern voice, "Everything."

Run don't walk!

I mean it, get here quick!

Get here before the health department does, because they will shut this baby down like the ghostbusters!

You know what they say; if you see one there are one thousand when it comes to roaches...  and yes we definitely saw one, probably would have not noticed it running by if a lady leaving from a couple tables down had not warned us that they just saw roaches on the wall...

Guess what the 4 stars is not a joke... I still had an amazing time and thought the food was phenomenal!

All I could think was wow how authentic is this, belly dancers, drunkin middle aged men dancing with them, even the roaches were doing the belly shuffle, until the neighboring table stepped on one, I advised them not to!  everyone knows roaches carry their eggs on their bellies...apparently not the dude who stomped on one... oops...  (I am the dork who watches the discovery channel what can i say...)

Wow how Chicago has changed me, historically an obvious roach infestation would keep me away, somehow I said f@ck it!  Lets eat lets dance lets find happiness in the little lost corners of the north side...kinda like a happy roach!

There were 4 of us we split the Kalamar and it was some of the best calamari I have ever passed over my taste receptors..  of-course this place of wonder and mystery is a BYOB and I would highly suggest BYOBing if you want to laugh in the face of the critters....  we had a couple of good bottles of wine including a Pino Noir that will be on my Q for future purchases...  I split half and half the lamb chops; four thinly sliced but wonderfully flavored moments of meat!  A simple yet refined flavor to the rice and even the greens that accompanied the chops...  Also had one of their baked chessy meaty amazing executions kinda like an oversized calzone but not as heavy and way better in my opinion!

My other two friends had a traditional kabob preparation and a lamb almost like gyro meat plate....  The kabobs stole the show cooked perfectly and with never ending flavor and tenderness!  The "gyro meat"  was just that as my buddy Dan B said, put this in a pita and sell it for 6 bucks its a gyro deconstructed...  I have had deconstructed gyro at GE and this is not that, no matter what this was, it was my least favorite of the 4 dishes and appetizer but it was still good!

We wallowed in the baklava and custard with turkish coffee it was very good on all 3 counts but not the best on any...

I thought about 3 stars for the roach problem, but I laughed so hard and had so much fun with the belly dancing and drunken dancing and loud and entertaining neighbors that I need to give it 4 stars... I would be willing to wait a year while they burn that building down rebuild it and de-roach it,  thats most likely not going to happen...  If you go be sure to go when there is live belly dancing it was good stuff!

Marina of Turkish Cuisine,

No mistake on my part. The other reviewer that saw cockroaches actually had one in her FOOD at Turkish Cuisine. If you scroll down on your Yelp page, you will see it posted in Jan 2009. Here is a direct link for your convenience.

I thought it would be a great idea to return to Edgewater/A'ville after a mimosa bash at Broadway Cellars. A certain friend of mine has been giving me crap for not coming to a particular event a couple of months ago, because I chose to watch Entourage instead.

Drove up and got a meter right in front of the window and decided to get the window seat when we walked in. We were the only people there at first as others came in afterward. The waitress was pretty quiet but nice. I ordered the Adana Kebab , which is char-grilled hand chopped beef and lamb, seasoned with red bell pepper. It was pretty good! My girl ordered Karniyarik which is tender minced beef and lamb, layered between slices of eggplant & topped with a bechamel sauce, finished with cashar cheese, oven baked and served with rice. Her dish was a little better than mine, so I ate what she could not finish.

The place itself was pretty cozy and had a turkish feel to it (not that I have been to Turkey) I like it and plan to return to try more of the goodies!

I don't know where to start with my love and adoration.
It is with the name Turkish Cuisine which it delivers with no pretense and authenticity? Is it with the Variety of dishes?
Is it because it is BYOB?
Is it in the fair prices whereas two people can leave here paying $30 including tip and tax?
Is it with the perfect bread?
If you are looking for authentic, affordable, complex and varied Turkish food come here
right now.
Highly recommended.

Drum roll please.... My new 5-star restaurant review in Chicago!!!!!!

After seeing Turkish Cuisine on Yelp's homepage for being amazing, I went to try it out that very night.  And WOW, this place is amazing.  There is no need to make reservations - tons of seating for plenty of tables (just call ahead if you are a BIG group). And its BYOB with no corkage fee. See, this place is an example many Chicago places can learn from in the future.

After being seated in our choice of tables, we ordered using both pictures and yummy descriptions on the menu.  The Shepard's Salad was really really really delish.  Imagine chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley, cilantro, onions, and a light veggie sauce - well, it was worth it and was HUGE (and that was just the "small" size for about $6.50).   Following, we had the fried zucchini "pancakes" appetizer.  Once again, great.   For entrees, I highly rec the Yogurtlu Tavuk Sis Kebap - Chicken kebab drizzled with yogurt sauce over a bed of tasty croutons ~$13.  Perfectly cooked.

Plus, they have bellydancers on some nights who come dancing throughout the whole restaurant and loves to interact with the patrons. So much fun.

I loved this place and will be highly recommending many friends to try this exotic cuisine and still save a bundle of cash in their pocket.

(Çok) teekkür ederim!   (Thank You in turkish)
Rica ederim!  (You're welcome)

This place is amazing!!! From the "just out of the oven" basket of bread, to the beautiful belly dancer, this place ROCKS!!!!
Their selection of food is awesome! Great variety of dishes including great vegetarian choices. I had the spinach and cheese Turkish pie.  It was delicious!!!!
Our waitress was good and attentive.
The place is also BYOB and the prices are affordable. Your wallet will thank you for bringing it here.
I also loved the belly dancer! It was nice to dance with her and share my moves with her! :-)

The food here is fabulous. The only reason that it doesn't get five stars is that the service is pretty slow.
My Lamb-Kabob was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and spiced up beautifully. We shared a bunch of different appetizers, including Falafal, and this great mushroom dish. I really do hate mushrooms, but they stuffed them with cheese and other goodies that made them too good to resist.
The night was wonderful. Great food, great wine and the wonderful company of my Yelp friends.
Four star restaurant, but a five star night.

Went to this place on a Saturday night with some friends.  What a great experience.  The food is authentic, the atmosphere is great and the service was excellent!  We started off with appetizers and bread.  The bread was very good and we tried some of the yogurt dip with it, very good.  Being a vegetarian I did not try the appetizers that the rest of my friends had gotten.  But there are choices for vegetarians on the menu.  My friends and partner all loved the food.  Our server was very knowledgeable about the entire menu and gave us recommendations.  There was even a belly dancer who performed and my partner and a couple friends from our table got the opportunity to dance with her.  This is a BYOB, but there are no corkage fees. Very fun night.  Definitely a place I would come to again.

So six Jews walk into a Turkish restaurant and are seated in the middle of an Indian wedding.  That's awesome!

Upon walking into Turkish Cuisine and Bakery, we noticed that the hostess realized that there wasn't quite enough room in the front room to seat a party of six, so the next move was to throw us in the back room among 50-60 celebratory guests out for a dinner...er...a wedding.  I was hesitant to follow her, but she wasn't slowing down, so to hell with it...we joined the party.   This was the first Bollywood spinning DJ that I had ever experienced and the dancing and belly dancer was great.  After a while, we figured out who the lucky couple was and I may have caught a few stink-eyes from the bride, but then again maybe she was just drunk.

So lets talk about the food.  Best Turkish pita EVER!!!  Really, I'm not sure how I even ate my dinner after shoveling in more pita and babganoush than was probably humanly possible.  I had a dish off the traditional menu, which was the lamb rice stuffed cabbage, zucchinni and pepper.  The flavors were light but impactive...absolutley delicious.  I tasted the chicken kabobs, lamb kabobs, a turkish sort of stew and a lamb pie of sorts.  Everything knocked my socks off.  Really great flavors across the board.

The staff was attentive and made us feel comfortable, considering that we were just forced to crash a wedding.  I would say the whole experience was fabulous and the food was excellent.  I'll be back again and again, I'm sure.  I still just feel a little bad that we had nothing to give the bride and groom aside from our good words and best wishes.

Wowza.

This is quite a complete dining experience.  I had a friend visiting on a layover.  A small group of us went at around eight on a Saturday.

We were escorted to our seats by the hostess/ server, a young woman with dreadlocks.  She was courteous and attentive.

The food was quite good, zucchini pancakes with yogurt dressing, grilled lamb and chicken.  The menu is vast, and very friendly for all dietary restrictions.

Certainly a plus is the bread, made in-house (Turkish Cuisine and Bakery).  Just try not to inhale the first bowl of the stuff before your hummus gets there.

And then there's the belly dancer.  Damn it.  I'm from the school that when a girl asks for a dance, you give her one.  Of course I'm going to get up and flop around for half a minute, "man, this is a good workout."

The belly-dancer was very nice, and attractive.  Anyone with the confidence to do something so revealing gets a z-snap from me.  It turns out her parents and grandma were in the audience, taking pictures as their baby dearest gyrated effortlessly.

And good goll-y

It's BYO-B

No corkage fee

One thing Chicago has on the Twin Cit-ies.

We left long after the dancer had finished, lingering to drink the beer we had brought.  As we left, we walked past all of the cooks, lounging at the end of a shift.  We expressed our thanks for their hospitality and were thanked in return for visiting.

Again...Turkish comes to my rescue.

So, sometimes...I just wander around the city. It's fairly rare that I am unscheduled and have no place to be. But, when I do...I randomly putz around. After an exciting, thrilling and wallet-sapping trip to Target, I was in need of some comfort food...hot, filling...but not overly grotesque, as my body is angry from the holiday overeating extravaganza.

So, lentil soup and falafel is the mission. mmmmm. Taste of Lebanon is closed (New Year's Day)...so I drive north and find a parking spot right out front. I enter the door with my gnome hat in tact, and ask for a table for one...I am accommodated graciously. No "Are you serious!?" looks. Good, sometimes I revel in dining alone, with myself and my thoughts...and after 30 days of non-stop socializing, it was damn right imperative!

Ok, so I order my lentil soup, Turkish tea and falafel (a large portion tipped with hummus). MMMMMM. My stress and holiday angst (not much, but still) begin to fade and melt away. The server (the owner, I think) is fantastic. Friendly, quick, sweet....

$10, full belly on something other than cookies and crap. Thank you Turkish...

Recommended for large groups...they could easily accommodate parties upwards of 50-75 people. I think it would be a prime destination for a group gathering, and its BYOB!

Best and most  authentic Turkish food in Chicago. The place is pretty simple and I have been there in the winter when the heat wasn't working, but the food makes up for it!  The bread is awesome, their lahmacun is incredible, the iskander kebob is phenomenal and all of their pides are very tasty and the portions are huge. The prices are fair.
This is one of my go-to places when i have out of town visitors. Give it a shot!

I went here with friends for a girls night out and really enjoyed it.  Our server was really sweet and attentive.  Although, she was quiet and apparently put on the spot when we asked for an appetizer recommendation.  Also, she opened the bottle of wine that we brought even though there is no corkage fee here.

The food was fantastic - absolutely no complaints at our table.  I ordered the lamb moussaka, which was delicious.

The atmosphere is decorative and comfortable and there is a lounge/couch area for larger parties.  The only drawback to this place is that it has a musty smell, but that could have been because we went on a rainy day.

I have been to Turkey and Turkish Cuisine is great.

The people that work there are mostly from Turkey.

Inexpensive.

High Value

Never a wait for a seat.

Completely underrated.

Their desserts could use a magical touch though.

I have to say that the staff here is exceptionally patient.  I came here for a bachelorette party that was supposed to start at 8:00.  I got there at 7:50 to change into my bachelorette get up (lengha, choli, and Wrap in bright aqua with gold beading).  Since the back can be a little difficult to button, the waitress helped me button it up.

I must have gone in and out of the restaurant 15 times getting my clothes together, my iphone plug, my camera, two bottles of wine, changing my shoes, and the like.  I think any less patient waitress would have been angry with me.  It did strike me as odd though that the place was pretty empty.  There were maybe 8 other people in the restaurant over the span of 3.5 hours that I was there.

8:00 rolls by.  8:20.  8:40.  I wait, and I wait, and I wait.  No bride and no gaggle of girls.  9:00.  The waitress asks if I want to open a bottle of wine.  Sure, I said.  One other bridesmaid shows up.  We wait.  We drink.  We order some appetizers.  9:15 rolls by.  9:30.  The waitress tells us that the kitchen is about to close.  We wonder where the heck the bride and other bridesmaids have run off.

Finally, the rest of the crew show up at 9:45.  The waitress is so nice that she takes pictures for us before urging us to order fast before the kitchen shuts down.  We order a bunch of appetizers along with several meals for people to split.

The cold and hot appetizers are pretty good.  2 months later, thinking about them makes me hungry.  "Delicious!" I gotta say. The bread is also fantastic.  It was piping hot when it came out.  And good bye Adkins diets.  This bread is worth every carb.  As Bethany L. writes" crispy crust and so soft in the middle."  I second that comment.

I ordered one of the combination grilled meat plates along with 2 other girls.  It was tasty, but it was simply grilled meat on a plate of rice.  It was very expensive for what you got.  Meat and rice.  $18.  Wow.

Once we were finished eating, the waitress even stayed behind so that we could belly dance before hitting the streets for a drink. She actually waited for us to finished and closed up shop behind us.

Overall, it was a positive experience.  The waitress was very polite and patient.  It was BYOB.  Texas wine was a nice accompaniment to the meal.  And there were no additional bottle service fees.  The service here was just stellar.  I cannot think of any other restaurant that would have been so accommodating to our bachelorette party.  Nice.  Very nice.

The calamari is gross and greasy ...  tasteless.  Stay away.  The dipping sauce was cold and insipid.

Awful service.  We waited 15 minutes for the bill while our waiter chit-chatted with friends.

The only good thing is the belly-dancer.

I've been here numerous times. I used to love this place, then I had some unhappy experiences and didn't go back for awhile.
Well, I was back recently and the food has returned to its roots; tasty, well sized portions at a reasonable cost. The bread is top notch. If you like liver, try the liver appetizer. It is quite good.
Their babaganoush is as good as you'll find in Chicago.
And any of the kabobs are good.

This is yet another local neighborhood place that I have been wanting to try for months if not years.  Every time I drive past on a Fri/Sat night the place is bursting at the seams...if that isn't a good sign I don't know what is.  After asking around, I found out that the Turkish population in Chicago frequents this restaurant often and that is why it is so crowded on the weekend.  For my first experience I decided an off night would be my best bet...so I went on a Tuesday night with a couple of friends.  Upon walking through the door I was completely enveloped by the Turkish decor.  It was sultry and bright and just made me feel like the food was going to be authentic.  The crowd was small, but it worked out well because our server was able to pay extra attention to us.  We started out with 3 appetizers; calamari, cacik (YUM, definitely get this to dip your bread in) and Lahmacun (tasty flat bread type hot app with lamb and other deliciousness baked on top similar to pizza).  After finishing those we decided to continue ordering tapas style and went with; Imam Bayildi, which was a very flavorful vegetarian option and (I am so mad at myself for not remembering what this is called) a hot entree with eggplant pure' and all these wonderful meats and vegetables in the middle...SO AMAZING!  The only problem at this point was we were getting so full we could barely touch the entree.  Next time I will be able to gauge my ordering better.  To top it off we caved and ordered dessert (it just looked too good to pass up).  We tried the custard and another honey donut type thing...both were good.  Overall, excellent experience!  Definitely going back for the belly dancing and crazy crowd on a weekend night.  Highly recommend this spot for both the atmosphere and the good cuisine.

I love BYOB places with no corkage fee. Came here for my lovely finaceé's birthday the same week the Andersonville street festival was going on. Since the street festival was going on a block away the place was pretty empty. The restaurant is pretty big inside. I don't think we needed to make a reservation but I'm glad we did just incase. The menu here had some good choices, but nothing too crazy. Maybe I was just hoping for some crazy Turkish dish I had never tried. But everything we ordered was really good and we ordered a lot. All the lamb and chicken was cooked fabulously. Service was friendly and prices were very good too.

I love this place!  LOVE it!  Have been here not less than 10 times and am never disappointed!  This food is outstanding.  The yogurt kebabs are great, the yogurt sauce (cacik?) is fab, bread is fab, the cabbage rolls are fab, falafel and hummus,,,,yum yum.  It is the real deal here and it is also a byob!!  The decor is very dated, but works for some reason here.  The service is great, they don't rush you out and you can sit and linger for as long as you would like.  It is hard to spend $50 in this place!!!  Can't ask for more if you love turkish cuisine.

Edit - I threw a b-day party for my girlfriend and 20 closests friends. Everything was absolutly perfect. About 90% were first timers, who said that they would be coming back again and again. The owner never told us to quite down or anything. All of the food was great and I got so much credit for picking such a cool place. I even danced with the belly dancer a little. What I couldn't believe is that they remembered me from a b-day party for one of my best friends, which it was the very first time I was there. Also from below, no corage fee. Love this place!!!

I have been here a couple of times now and have always found the food to be cheap, plentiful, and really tasty. First time was with a large group of friends and the service was really good. It is BYOB, I don't remember if they charge a corking fee but maybe that's because I had too much vino..ha! The interior and exterior is much to be desired but don't let that scare you cause the food is so worth it. I know somebody already mentioned the bread but seriously it's GOOD. I recommend the hummus, mushrooms, and the spicy vegetable dip!!

Also on the weekends they have live entertainment, music and belly-dancers. The place gets packed so make sure you get a seat in the back for the show.

Loved it - never had Turkish before and the bread was absolutely wonderful. Turkish people know their bread - it definitely was freshly made - and much, much better than what you would find at Subway or even Panera. There is olive oil to dip the bread in and you can sprinkle crushed red pepper in the oil.

I was happy to find a variety of vegetarian dishes on the menu. Upon asking for advice on a dish, the waiter recommended the vegetarian pie and it was yummy. We had several appetizers and two meals and all 3 of us loved everything.

This place is bring your own liquor with no fee (smile) - so we brought 2 bottles of wine and had a wonderful meal. The food came out fresh and hot and the service was great. Our waiter was even kind enough to get me ice when I hit my elbow hard on the wall ( I won't even go into what I was doing). Anyway, it was a fun time and great meal. I will be back. I heard they have belly dancers on the weekend and it gets pretty packed on Saturdays.

My family is Greek. I grew up with Greek food. And when I announced that I was going to Turkey this past summer, I thought my nona would faint. "WHY?" she begged, doubtless wondering where she went wrong. It would have killed her to know the truth.

I went to Turkey for the food.

Everybody in Chicago's been to Greektown. You've had souvlaki, spanikopita, baklava (which isn't Greek), and lamb. And you've liked it. Maybe you've tried Lebanese and like that, too. But Turkish food beats it all.

And if you want Turkish food in Chicago, you can't beat Turkish Cuisine. The love affair starts with the hot Turkish bread, olive oil, and a generous sprinkling of what I think is sumac (a tart red powdered berry). After that, I love the lamahcun (Turkish pizza) and the pide, but the manti (Turkish ravioli) are to die for. I tried manti all over Turkey and couldn't find anything better!

Okay, and the atmosphere is great (very much downscale but pretty, with lots of ethnic touches, rough spun tablecloths, brass, and the like. The party room is always overflowing with Turkish groups, which is kinda fun. And I guess they have belly dancing certain nights, too, but I've never cared for belly dancing. You can go for those things if you want, but really you should go for the food.

Cok tesekkur ederim Turkish Cuisine!

Tried the combination cold appetizer which included hummus, babaganoush, eggplant tomato, etc.  This was a great starter to share with 4-6 people.  I had the combination kabob with the chicken, doner, shish, and adana.  All of them were great.  Also tried the Turlu, which was a veg casserole with eggplant, tomato, carrots, potato.  Let's just say, it tasted like chunky veg canned soup from the dollar tree.  It was decent but I would have rather bought 10 cans of soup.
I liked the fact they explained what was in the appetizer platter because 3 of the 6 items I could not tell which item I was eating.  They were also nice enought to bring out some extra yogurt for my kabobs.  the only complaint I had about the service was they were a bit slow.
Overall, pleased with the kabobs and the price!

We dined last night at the Turkish Cuisine for the first time. I enjoyed our meal - I had the stuffed vegetables and others at my table had one of the pies and BBQ lamb. Food was really good - not the best turkish I've eaten - but very tasty. The reason I have rated this a 3 instead of a 4 was the ambiance. Monday evening was DEAD at the restaurant. I think there were only two other tables taken, and with about 50 tables, it was seriously too slow. Kind of creepy slow. BYOB was a plus :-)

I'm quite happy with my recent visit to this restaurant, but disappointed that I hadn't tried it earlier as it's close to my place and I love Turkish cuisine!

And the place's name is, literally, Turkish Cuisine, so I can't claim ignorance of their product based on an ambiguous name. Take Cousin's, for example, another Turkish restaurant in Chicago. That sounds like maybe a mobster dive where you look at someone wrong and suddenly you're in deep "hummus" with "the family".

The free bread is delicious and hot with a crunchy exterior. This forces you to order an appetizer to dip it in, of course. I couldn't decide between hummus (a standby) or the eggplant tomato dish (can't recall the Turkish name), but the server offered to give us a plate of half of each, which was just right! They were both delicious and I'll do the same next time I visit.

I tried the dolma under "traditional dishes". It was a flavorful dish with pickled flavors to the cucumber, cabbage, and zucchini. Very good if you like, well, pickles. I enjoyed it.

My girlfriend tried the Turlu, a vegetable stew, essentially. Unlike a previous reviewer, I don't think it tasted like canned soup and we enjoyed it.

After dinner we enjoyed complimentary apple tea, and a guy who appeared to be the manager even brought me a pillow to relax against. Nice touch.

I found the service personal and authentic as everyone I talked to had a Turkish accent. That works for me!

I'm not hugely familiar with Turkish food, but this place blew my mind. Their menu is huge, with vegetarian options (but also awesome meaty ones), and they bake this homemade bread that is like some kind of utopia melting on the tongue. I've been here a couple times, in which I really enjoyed the burek, as well as some sort of intricate eggplant-walnut-pomegranate thing, and I'd guess that everything else on the menu is comparably good. The portions are also enormous. A good place to take a date or the parents - don't be put off by the fact that the restaurant is sparsely populated and has grungy-looking decor. Actually, the paintings of men with giant, phallic horns sprouting from their thighs remind me of the Turkish equivalent of my grandparents' basement in the Milwaukee suburbs. I.e., awesome.

I went there last night with bunch of my friends.  My friends and I ordered a variety of food such as hummus, mushrooms and spicy vegetable dip for appetizer and adana kebap, quail, tavuk kebap and few more that I don't remember for the main course.  The food was awesome and the service was great.
Everyone in the table expect me were carnivores.  Sometimes it is hard for me to find a good selection of food in restaurants however Turkish cuisine had a great selection for vegetarians. My favorite was the spicy vegetable dip...yummy!
The owners were so friendly and welcoming.  I will definitely go there again.

The food was delicious, but it took SOOOOOOOOOOO long for it to come out.  We were the only table in the place, and granted we were a decent sized group, but it was about 1 1/2 hours from the time we ordered to the time the appetizers came out.

Luckily, we brought ample amounts of wine to keep ourselves occupied.

We had a lovely meal here last night.  I had the dolma entree which was great - cabbage, zucchini and green pepper stuffed with ground beef and lamb.  I also sampled everyone else's food - and everything was great - from Lentil soup to shish kebab.  Yum!

Prices are reasonable and they appear to be BYOB.  I'll be back!

What do you get when you mix some caucasians out for a birthday dinner, a Turkish restaurant, and an Indian Hindu wedding? A dam good time that's what.  Yes this sounds strange but when your restaurant hostess needs to seat six and there happens to be a full on wedding reception with open tables just sitting there, well she makes the call.  So as uncomfortably AWESOME as this seemed I had no complaints. I mean dinner and a bellydancer show in a room full of pastel colored sari's makes for a colorful evening.  Ohh yeah and there was food, between my new favorite Bollywood top 40 songs I had some of the best Turkish food I have ever had.  Amongst the many dishes sampled not one was short of excellent, all the lamb, chicken, and beef were perfect.  The staff also made us as comfortable s possible with the exception of having no gift for the bride and groom.  Prices are very reasonable and the location right on Clark is excellent.  I would recommend coming anytime however ensuring a full wedding reception experience may cost extra.

We went there a couple of weeks ago because it looked like a nice BYO restaurant.  We brought a Spanish red wine - http://www.samswine.co... .  The service was good, people were friendly.  The food was good, but not great, like most places.  I forgot some of the other dishes we ordered, but we had hummus, babaganoush, and I had the etli bamya.  Oh yeah, also used a http://restaurant.com gift certificate.

ONE WORD: COCKROACH.  I loved this place.  I would go there at least once a week.  Bread is delicious and so is pretty much everything else i have ever had there.  The last time I ate here I ordered a combo plate to go and found cooked in my rice a cockroach.  Probably one of the most disgusting things I have experienced.  YIKES!

You know it's good if two Armenians think it's pretty awesome. I love that this place is BYOB - we finished off two bottles of Sofia and a 4-pack of Boddingtons from the best liquor store ever down the street. I also love the food, which comes in huge portions and is very authentic. Their bread is also TO DIE FOR, so warm with crispy crust but so soft in the middle. Only thing that's lacking is service; our waitress disappeared for long periods of time, and getting the check was a hassle. It also took quite awhile for a food to come, so make sure you're not in a rush.
