This is a failing hospital seeing how their service has become. Their greeting staff has gotten better and the woman in the front had empathy. That was the best as it got. We went to the ER on 1/31/2024 and the medical staff there in the early afternoon were terrible.
You can tell by their eyes and mannerisms that they can care less about patients. There was a woman crying saying she couldn't breathe and struggling walking and the medical staff that came out didn't even assist her with a wheelchair. There was another woman slumped in her chair asking for something multiple times and they continued to ignore her. I was disgusted and we didn't even bother checking in because this was not the care that I was going to put my son through. The staff there continued to ignore these two women and the is what I noticed in such a short time there so I can't imagine how much worse it was the longer you were there. I heard another family mention the bathroom was full of toilet paper and feces in the toilets.
Has tufts given up on their patients? Why is your staff so unhappy that they are taking it out on their patients. You can tell they don't try and don't care which is disgusting. There are those who are in need of help and the attitudes of the triage/medical staff are so poor.
There was one male and one female in the room and another female in the room next to them. I couldn't catch their names but if you looked at who was there between 2-4pm, you would know. I tried calling patient advocacy but they didn't pick up so I'm not going to put in more effort for a hospital that is not willing to improve.
So many others have left the waiting room likely because they were not going to tolerate the type of neglect they experienced outside of the Emergency Room.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Raissa L.East Harwich, Harwich, MA524Apr 20, 2024
I visited Tufts for my OBGYN in February and I have been paying for it ever since. Long story short I have never ever dealt with so many "professionals" that do not know what they are doing like I have at Tufts after my visit.
The referral department called me atleast twice a week for the past 2 months for a problem that wasn't my fault. Masshealth told me that in order to address the problem all Tufts needed to do is bill MassHealth directly rather than any of the plans under Masshealth. I relayed this information to the Tufts Medical Center billing department months ago, and they assured me that they billed MassHealth accordingly.
Now here's the kicker! Do you think Tufts, a literal hospital, can bill the right insurance? NO! I received a bill from Tufts for the full amount of my visit. The bill notes that Tufts billed the wrong insurance.
If you want to receive health care without getting multiple calls for an issue that was the providers fault, spent countless hours trying to do Tufts jobs for them, and not receive bills in error go to a different provider!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - A M.West Somerville, West Somerville, MA051Feb 15, 2024
The very worst medical experience that I have literally ever had was at Tufts. Don't go here if you can help it, and especially avoid the orthopedics department. They seem very nice but ultimately don't know what they're doing.
The best thing that I can say is about my experience at Tufts is that it almost (but didn't) kill me and made me a stronger person.
I started with very minor problems that became major problems through the lack of common sense, restraint, and basic hygiene on the part of doctors at Tufts.
The doctors were very friendly and smiling as they made mistakes that almost cost me a limb and lied about it later to save their jobs and reputations.
I'm fully recovered now with an intact limb after paying another very competent doctor outside of Tufts a great deal of money to correct their mistakes.
I'm definitely not going back because of the lack of medical skills and ethics that I experienced at Tufts. I never knew that doctors could be so slimy, dishonest, and uncaring about patients. I used to have so much faith in their intelligence and integrity before this experience.
I'm well in spite of the doctors at Tufts and not because of them. Good riddance.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

i saw Dr as Spiegel, nephrologist, today. i am 72 and have lived all over the world as a military daughter, wife and mother and I had to write this review. Dr. Spiegel is by far the best doctor I have ever had in my entire life.
he came out in the waiting room to get me personality, on time for my appointment, explained everything, talked to me like a human being, respectful, kind and took my bo himself,, not an Ma and saying dr will be here shortly and you sit and wait and wait like every other dr in my life. if you want kindness and respect. his staff from jackie to josie and finally, dr Spiegel.. this is the top notch care which all deserve.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Barbara D.Boston, MA01Jan 23, 2024
My mother recently had a cardiac procedure at Tufts. We were so impressed with the quality of the care she received from the nurses in the recovery unit. They were caring and competent and went above and beyond to make her comfortable.
All of our interactions with hospital personnel were positive and we would recommend care at Tufts.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

If you have other choices in care, go somewhere else. My parents recently transitioned here due to the retirement of their prior doctor. My God, you get attitude the moment you step into the 4th floor esp if you're Asian and you don't speak English. They look at you with annoyed eyes as if you're interrupting their lunch break or you're there to cause trouble. That's what you get from the front desk staff. Then the doctor, arrogant and rude and doesn't even listen or care about what you're here for. Don't go over your current medication and just quickly try to move you out. Then at the checkout desk, the staff ignores your directions and sends the wrong medications for refill and the ones they got right, sends it to the wrong pharmacy. Incompetence through and through.

I Was Born Here 18 Years Ago And Came Out All In One Piece So I Guess This Hospital Can't Be That Bad.

I had much longer post, but deleted it because it was too difficult to submit. This is a terrible hospital with inept doctors and cold staff that cost my mother her life and 5 months suffering on life support after a botched surgery. Avoid at all costs. Don't let their dog and pony show fool you.

This used to be the STANDARD hospital for our family, but now the emergency room is horribly run. I waited almost 3 hours to be seen (same amount of time last time I came in) all while watching others who came in AFTER ME be seen by triage, then be directed to a bed/room & THEN BE DISCHARGED. I ended up leaving with my swollen leg untreated & undiagnosed. This hospital lives off it's old positive reviews & now it's just a fancy building living off it's' glory of "when it used to be really reputable." I'll find somewhere new, if I live long enough to find out what's causing my leg to swell.
*They do have decent primary care doctors.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information
