    Truly: Amazing vegan iced tea

Oh and the food's okay. Some dishes have smallish portions, but it's all pretty tasty. You can eat really healthy or really unhealthy here. Just because it's vegetarian, doesn't mean it's all health food.

Other than that, the staff is nice and the place is pretty chill. Delivery is also available if your working around Hollywood and don't have time to drive over.

I love this Truly. I have 2 other Vegan restaurants closer to me than Truly, but I will always go or order from Truly Vegan before the others. The owner is a sweetheart and I appreciate that. Delivery is always really fast. I've never got a wrong order or been disappointed.
A couple of my favorite items:
    The Miso Soup
    The Wraps (any kind)
The PROTEIN SALAD (freakin' amazing and REALLY big)
    The Yellow Curry w/Chicken
    Pepper Steak Sandwich.

I find it less expensive and way better than other similar kinds of vegan/thai restaurants

I've had two Yummy Salads and also the Yellow Curry and Lad Nah and its all delicious. I'm not even Vegan or Vegitarian but I chose to order food from here because it's more fresh and more tasty than other (Thai) restaurants. I also think they're more affordable than the average Hollywood restaurant that delivers.

Not to mention they deliver my food in 20 minutes or less! That is amazeballz during the lunch rush.

Truly Vegan Restaurant is okay. But they'e not going to be winning over many carnivores to the vegan cause any time soon. I personally think that a vegan restaurant needs to be out of this world to get meat-eaters and vegans alike to actually crave fake meat and quinoa dishes.

The food is good but it's very ordinary. The wraps are wraps; the seitan wrap I had once tasted as if I had made a snack wrap at home with some lettuce, tomato, chicken and avocado. Granted, the seitan was flavorful and does taste like meat. But it's nothing spectacular.

I've also tried the fake chicken burger and the spring rolls. Both good.

And this place is a little awkward when dining in. The family who run the joint kind of just hang out and watch TV behind the counter. I never know whether or not it's appropriate to talk at a normal volume.

It's close to my place (hey stalkers!) so I'll be back when I'm in the mood for something healthy and relatively cheap.

WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY JOY OVER THE FACT THEY DELIVER TO MY HOUSE. EAT ALL THE PANCAKES!

Okay, seriously though. The food is pretty good. I bought a strawberry milkshake and the fruit pancakes. IT'S RAD. I'm actually eating it as we speak. So yummy. Could use a little bit more flavor, but either way it's amazing.

    ALL VEGAN!

I've eaten here a couple time when I have been in the area - your run of the mill choices like sandwiches, wraps, and such. A little hole in the wall type of place.

Tried: Fried chicken sandwich (great crispy texture), wrap (pretty standard, nice ranch-y dressing).

Service: The woman who took our order was friendly.

Great for: A casual bit to eat.

Great place to eat if you're in the area, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here though.

I was really disappointed in this place.. I was looking for a flavorful experience and was greeted with cardboard tasting blahness.. No im not a vegan, but i appreciate veganism- have tried it for a while and have come across great places. This is not one of them.
I only give them 2 stars for using cardboard creatively

So, to be fair, I have never actually set foot in this establishment, so this review is based solely on their delivery, as they are listed on Grubhub.

I have ordered from them about four times, and every time they arrive almost 30 minutes early than what GH tells me, which is awwwwwesome (although sometimes I have to make them wait while I put on pants since I'm not expecting them so soon.)

I have had the spicy jalapeno noodles with seitan, which were delicious though I had to add a lot of Brother Bru Bru's to spice it up. I had never had seitan before and was very pleasantly surprised at the flavor and consistency.

The soy chicken wrap is good but also could use seasoning, I spiced that up with red pepper and hot sauce and used tahini and hummus as dips. You do basically get two wraps for $6 bucks though and I can never eat both of them, so I get lunch and dinner/fourthmeal.

The fried rolls are great if you're hungover, and the Breakfast Joy is also huge - two giant wraps with tofu and soy bacon bits and their casein free cheese.

    Fruit smoothie is kinda weird.

    BUT

my entire reason for this review was the food I ordered yesterday. It was a balmy 90 degrees in my lovely (ghetto) East Hollywood (ghetto) I mean, um, "Los Feliz adjacent"  (ghetto) home, and I hadn't eaten for approximately 32 hours. It was time. I went on to GH and went straight to Truly's menu. I ordered the soy chocolate shake and the deep fried soy chicken sandwich with (faux) mozzarella and avocado.

    Twenty minutes later...

Ok, seriously, the soy chicken patty tastes better than a real chicken patty. In fact, it was reminiscent of the yummy fatty ones you could buy at the a la carte stand in the lunch area in high school. That, plus a HUGE slab of avocado, casein free cheese, giant fresh tomato slice, lettuce, veganaise, and a big fluffy bun. Oh my god. So goo. So, so, so good. Like, I would feed it to one of my big giant manly guy friends and lie and say it was chicken and I swear he'd pig out equally. Nommers.

The shake was also delicious, I am guessing they use soy chocolate milk (which is like crack to me anyway along with chocolate almond milk) and possibly a vegan chocolate sorbet. Perfect compliment to my aforementioned frenzied sandwich feeding.

They have free delivery and the minimum is $10 bucks, which can basically get you two meals worth. And all their delivery people are super sweet. Thumbs up, y'all.

Look, vegans.  I have nothing against you people.  I even congratulate you on your recent acquisition of Bill Clinton.  Way to score on us.  But your overwhelmingly positive reviews of this craphole have placed you OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE OF TRUST.

The Thai iced tea was pretty much just water.  The pancakes, wheat-free and gluten-free, were also flavor-free.  Unless cardboard and paste are flavors.  And I've found better tofu "chicken" in the frozen food section at Ralph's. Maybe we're just different. Maybe I just prefer food that tastes good.

Feel free to prove me wrong.  I invite you to redeem yourselves and suggest someplace else.  Otherwise, I'll be inviting Bessie and Porky and Foghorn Leghorn to a soiree in my stomach.   You don't want that, do you?  I didn't think so.

This place has a cozy atmosphere... not to loud inside either. I'm not vegan or vegetarian but my GF has recently veared towards that side of life and for a first experience it wasn't bad. :) They gave us a whole coconut when we asked for coconut water, the pad thai tasted great and I had the soy cheese burger with soy bacon ndit tasted good. It was all quite filling, great tasting and fairly priced.

At first I was going to give Truly Vegan 3 stars, thinking to myself after eating here last week that this spot was *just* like all those other vegan/Thai leaning restaurants all over the place. You know, half the menu is Thai food like curries, noodles, soups, etc, then the other half is sandwiches, wraps, and a bunch of random breakfast items for good measure. The Vegan Joint, California Vegan, Green Leaves Vegan and a few others come to mind as having almost the exact same menu.

But just because I tried those other places first doesn't mean I should penalize Truly for being much of the same, I had to think that if I came here first I probably would have been all about the food. So I set aside the fact I've encountered this menu 100 times before and tried to think just about this meal, this time, and I have to say it was pretty good stuff.

The curry was fresh, the produce obviously in good order. They cooked it perfectly, not overcooked, not overcooked, but just right. A bit spicy, just as I asked. I snagged a bit of my lady's salad too and I was impressed.

So if you're like me and you've hit up vegan restaurants all over the city, yes, you've likely seen this model before. But if I was in the area and hungry for that type of grub I wouldn't hesitate to return to Truly, it gets the job done. It's smaller inside than some of the competitors noted above but it's cute, the staff was friendly, and our food came out pretty damn fast.

Is this cutting edge cuisine? No. But if you like vegan food, especially Thai food or sandwiches, I say give it a shot.

I wanted so bad to give them five stars because I eat there a lot and love the food, however their curries are SO hot!  I've tried three times and the last time I said "please make it very very mild as they are usually really hot when I ask for mild" and it was still so spicy I couldn't eat it. My friend and my boyfriend both tried it and they agreed, so I know I'm not losing my mind!

Their wraps and seiten pad thai are still incredible. The service is pretty good too.  Definitely give them a try.

Alright, I loved the food, don't get me wrong. Even the service was great, but this place isn't serving up ground-breakingly delicious meals, which is the only reason I gave it a three and not a four.

My friend and I were in the neighbour, so google maps took us here when we searched up vegan. I'm a huge fan of dim sum style food, so I was happy to find a vegan place with some near by.

From the outside it's small, and has a very plain sign, but it does have a great menu. It's a great little place, with amazingly reasonable prices, and their plates are huge.

My friend ordered a great flat pan-fried noodle dish, and I ordered a scrumptious mushroom burger (which I couldn't believe was only 6 dollars). To share, we ordered the fried tofu, a large brown rice plate (only $2...), veggie dumplings (which were awesome... Especially the sauce, which made them sweet. Doughy and delicious, I definitely recommend them), and we also got the spring rolls (pretty generic). For dessert, we got the fried banana, which was a lot different from what I was expecting. It was banana and shredded coconut in what looked like a spring roll, served with Maple Syrup. Intensely small, and a little bit disappointing compared to the rest of the meal.

Food, great. Service, great. Kitchen and washroom, sketchy. All in all not bad.

I think this is the first time Yelp has really steered me in the wrong direction. Truly is not a 4-star place, in my mind.

The pros: the location is easy to access right off the 101. The service was friendly
if not particularly attentive. The ambiance was decent and the place seemed clean enough. The cost is reasonable, but I'm still not sure if it's worth it.

The cons: bland, bland, bland food. I tried the lentil burger with cheese, fries, and the pad thai. I have never had a pad thai this flavorless before. The lentil burger was better, thanks to the cheese and veganaise. The fries were actually really good and crispy, but how hard is it to make fries? I put some of the brownish salt on the fries and the wondered, why is the salt brown? I've been vegan almost five years and eat at vegan places a lot, but the brown salt is new to me.

I wanted to like this place a lot as it is a mom-and-pop vegan place, but I just was really disappointed. If this was the only vegan place around, I would go there again, but in a five mile radius there are plenty of other vegan options. Sorry, Truly! I appreciate the effort to serve vegan food, but it just didn't work for me!

Omg. *Dies*. As far as vegetarian restaurants go, this is in my top five. If I could go here every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner I would be in a perpetually elated state of mind.

Let's start with the food. Sooo good. There are a number of Thai dishes, but the restaurant also features quite a few "standard vegan" dishes, such as scrambled tofu, veggie burgers, and a variety of salads. I generally order the lentil burger or lentil loaf as it's very healthy, hearty, and to be quite frank damn delicious. My partner in crime usually goes for their "Item B" breakfast, for the cheap price of $6.00 she gets scrambled tofu, blueberry pancakes (gluten and wheat free), and these little bacon bit thingys that are addicting. I have ordered curry before as well and was equally satisfied. They have a very well rounded menu.

The prices are all very reasonable with meals ranging $5-$9. The service is friendly, prompt, and not overbearing which for me is a "like", *hits like button*. I hate when servers are constantly in your face with that desperate smile that screams "I need tips!!!".

So yeah, if you're veg this is a #1 priority, if you are not veg, you'll still come out with a full tummy and wallet. ;)

Yum! I would very much rather spend ten to fifteen minutes here getting a veggie burger and fries than sitting in a McD's drive-thru inhaling exhaust and get a half-meat half-corn filler half-sand "cheeseburger" (I know, it's a lot of halves.) Here you know exactly what is going into your food (veggies!)
This is the kind of place that Truly (haha) feels good to support. Delicous and good for you. The staff (and other patrons) are so friendly!
Also, I could drink seventy thousand of their Thai Teas. So tasty.
Open seven days a week with delivery? You have converted this carnivore!

Easy access from freeway, parking is free across the street at gas station.  Now for the food, my first visit I ordered the protein salad, which was really tasty and the veggies were fresh!  If you like garbanzo beans and avocado this salad going to melt in your mouth.  My second visit I had the Birdie burger.  It had good flavor (somewhat like chicken) but I was still hungry after I ate, so I recommend ordering a side dish like wonton's or dumplings...or just an order of good ol' fries!

Cons: you have to wave down the waitress to order or refills on water.

The food is delicious, fresh, filling, and affordably priced. After going a few times, I would recommend the lentil burger, but everything I've had has been great.

I'm just a sucker for blueberry banana pancakes........

Picture that small, dingy Asian restaurant a couple miles from your house with those economical plastic table coverings that go on top of the tablecloth that hides the rickety table underneath.  That's exactly what this place looks like.  But hey, they say the best food is in the places that look the shabbiest.

So I'm thinking it's mainly a thai (?) restaurant, but it's fun looking through the menu and realizing they have stuff like soy wieners, pancakes, and sushi. you know, just in case you don't have a tongue for thai.  We ordered the soy chicken, Breakfast Perfection (wheat-free blueberry banana pancakes with vegan margarine), and grilled potatoes.  The soy chicken was pretty good, the pancakes were indeed perfection, and grilled potatoes were very flavorful.  All in all, pretty tasty food!  I'd like to come back for the wiener! And maybe a curry, maybe some sushi?

I'm a fan of the more simpler meals that don't cost much.I don't need 5 star restaurants.I have good enough credit to be able to go to one and blow a fifty but why be so dumb with my money?

I came here yesterday after a long 5 mile walk in Griffith Park.I was tired and wanted something different to try.I was going to go to vegan house 2 on Wilcox but decided to jump off of the bus here.Im glad i made that decision.

They have a menu outside the restaurant like most vegetarian places for those that are too leery to go inside.I looked over the menu scanning it for the best deals that i could find that would fill me up after sweating all day in the sun walking.

I found a deal, and decided to enter inside. When i walked inside noone was in there.I didn't let that bother me since a lot of Vegan restaurants don't get that much buisness. Its a small clean place on the corner of Bronson and Hollywood Blvd.Oh and there's only 6 tables so this really isn't a place for a group of people.

I took a seat and ordered the number 80.The owner lady came out to bring me water but it had no ice..I didn't get upset nor did i ask for any..This is unlike me but i will say that they must have used the best water filter there is on the market. The water tasted better than Figi Water and that's about the clearest water Ive ever drank!

Anyway, this review isn't about me or the water. Its about the food and the fact that the #80..Simply Seitan or sensational Seitan or whatever was seasoned to perfection.

They give you a choice of potatoes or rice and it comes with the veggies.
The veggies were steamed so there isn't much to report about them. All steamed veggies taste the same!

The potatoes had a nice seasoning blend on them. They weren't bland in any way.The star of the main dish was the Seitan. It didn't taste like meat but then again it's not meat so how could you ask for anything like that??

Good place to eat in Hollywood by the freeway that will make you want to come back for more delicious hot vegan food.

huh.  horrible horrible horrible.  I was taking a good friend who had never been to LA around the Hollywood area, we had been walking around all afternoon and when we got hungry we decided to eat here.  I had Yelped to see where we could get some good vegetarian food in the area, we originally thought we'd go to Paru's for Indian but decided on here since it was closer, had good reviews and we were hungry.  so it wasn't really hot, but it was warm enough and we had been walking so when we walked in all I really wanted was a glass of water so I could cool down and think about what I would like to eat.  oh yeah, and there was no a/c which made me feel even worse.  so we sit down and I ask for a glass of water....she doesn't bring it.  she comes to take our order and I say something along the lines of "I'm sorry but I'm really hot, could I have a glass of water so I can concentrate on the menu?"  this irritated her for some reason...I still haven't figured that out.  she still didn't bring it.  now, there was one other person in the place, and a couple came in after us.  she decided to go help the couple before getting my stupid glass of water and then took care of some other things after that.  at this point we would have left but we were so hungry that we decided to wait it out.  the friend I was with, who is probably one of the nicest people I know, was getting really pissed off.  so I get the water and we order, she got a wrap and I got a salad.  the food really wasn't very good.  my salad was made with old lettuce and unripe, mealy tomatoes and my friend said her wrap was dry and was like a salt lick.  it was a really bad experience.  when we left my friend threatened that she would be very angry with me if I tipped, so I didn't...and that says a lot for me.  I would never go here again.  there's a pretty good Thai place across the street, go there instead.  and on the weekend they have Elvis.

What can be said that hasn't been said already? Their food is good, comforting and hits the spot. But let's not kid ourselves- it's not going to win any awards. It's the kind of place that, if you're vegan, you've been to a million times- at a certain point the Thai vegan shtick gets old. Don't get me wrong, Truly Vegan doesn't skimp on flavor or substance. Yet there's no game changers, either; the best dishes exist on the menus of myriad Thai vegan restaurants so don't expect anything new or original. Truth be told, this place offers good food at cheap prices, but remember that you get what you pay for.

This Vegan restaurant I found on Yelp...

Wanted to try to eat somewhat healthy before going to see Phantom of the Opera so parked and walked there it is about 3 or 4 blocks away and right across from the Palms Resturant with the singing Elvis dude...

Menu looked interesting I had a feeling it was Thai influenced and of course when you go in you find out it totally is...

    Got an appetizer:
    Soy Chicken Nuggets...
Not too bad...Actually not too greasy...wasn't 100% sure if it was baked or fried...but it was good...

    I ordered the
    Loafing About:
Grilled Lentil Loaf with bell pepper, onions and seasongs.
w/Brown Rice and Veggies (Broccli and Cauliflower)...
It was actually pretty good almost tasted like HASH...

    My friend got
    Sincerely Seitan:
Seitan served with wheat meat grilled.
    served with the same sides.

    Pretty tasty as well..

Overall the meals were pretty tasty and filling...I wouldn't mind coming back here again they have pretty good breakfasts apparently served all day.

I have been ordering here for a few years now and I keep coming back for these reasons:

-If you are allergic to soy or MSG, this is a great place to go!  They do not cook with MSG and if you inform them you do not want any soy in the dish, they will make sure it happens.  I asked them to take out the soy ingredients and add other items in its place, they did not have a problem with that.  I called other vegan restaurants in LA and asked if they can make soy free dishes and they couldn't.

-We ordered the Shitake And Shoots Soup (soy-free version) with Mung bean noodles.  WOW!  It was sooo good and flavorful.  A must in my book.

-They have online delivery, which is good so you can see the whole menu but I prefer to call in.  Its free delivery to.

-They take credit card but if you pay in cash they do offer you a discount (for delivery)

    -They have Kombucha.

-I usually always order delivery cuz i hate parking in hollywood but if you do they is meter parking.

I can go on and on but the most important fact is, they offer soy-free dishes.

We enjoyed this little place. I wish we could have come back for breakfast (they open at 11:00 so it would be a late breakfast) The food is mostly Asian out side of breakfast. It was good and the folks there are nice. I was impressed by the reasonable prices as well. If I didn't live in Oakland I would go there often.

This place is awesome, plain and simple! Extremely affordable and the menu covers almost any and all tastes you could have. Been here a few times but would go more often if I lived closer. Delicious food and wholesome, filling servings. If you happen to want more, it'll be only to try another tasty dish, which with the aforementioned extremely affordable prices is still a smaller bill than most other restaurants.

The only downside? Theres parking in the back, but only 5 spots and it's really narrow (one car) and backing up is a pain, and sometimes parking on the street can be scarce but definitely worth a little walk.

Upon parking in the Tommy's parking lot, I realized that I busted another In-n-Out incident (if you don't know what I am talking about, please refer back to my In-n-Out review).

I ordered via phone for pick up at this lovely Vegan restaurant.  I was excited because it has been over a month since I tasted their delicious vegan take out.

    *searches for my big wallet*

Not there.  "FUCK, FUCK, FUCK!" I say to myself.
"Should I just say fuck it and not even go in for my food?  Have them waste their precious cooking?"

I dug into my pockets and luckily found $11 in cash ... not enough for my Spicy Green Beans with Soy Chicken and Protein Salad.

I walk inside and desperately explain myself,
"I am SO SORRY.  I forgot my wallet and I was in a bit of  rush ... I only have $11 in cash.  I can only pay for the green beans ... I am SO SORRY!"

The lady gives me a fucked up look.  "Are you kidding me?" is what it looked like she was saying to me in her head.  She calculated what I owed her for the green beans and I happily gave her my $10.

"You come back to pay for the salad ... I will give it to you right now.  It's fresh and I don't want to throw it away.  You will come right?"  - Lady

I was SHOCKED!  She was willing to give me the salad and have me come back ANOTHER day to pay for it!!!!  Who the fuck does that?  Apparently not just In-n-Out.  I was so grateful.  I left my cell number in case they wanted to contact me.  AND Yes, I gave them the CORRECT number.

Not only is their food great, their customer service is spectacular.  I really should stop rushing and forgetting my credit cards to pay for shit ...

    Truly, I truly love you.

The breakfast of champions is my go to dish here. Nothing beats pancakes and soy chicken, mmmmm. Their scrambled tofu and hash browns are also delicious. As are their chicken sammiches, lentil burgers, fries, thai iced tea, and just about everything else I've had there.

Been here dozens of times, the service is quick, polite and gracious. The only thing I've had that I didn't like was some weird Asian noodle salad. Don't get that. Stick to the fried stuff and you won't be sorry.

    mmm mmmm....

    INEXPENSIVE EXCELLENCE RIGHT HERE!

The place isn't much to look at... but the staff is amazing friendly, the food is fresh and always delicious, AND I'M NOT EVEN VEGAN!

I am a carnivore.  But this place is the one that turned me on to vegan food in the first place.  One day I was hungover and stumbled in with my vegetarian girlfriend after telling her I was craving chicken and waffles at Roscoe's.  She took me here and ordered me the "Breakfast of Champions" which is fried soy chicken, wheat free pancakes, with organic maple syrup.  The soy chicken had the consistency and taste of chicken breast and is so delicious, that I continue to eat here at least TWICE a week.

    2 fresh coconuts
    1 spring roll appetizer
    1 miso soup
    1 chicken pad thai
1 breakfast joy (tofu scramble burritos)
    -------------------------------------------------- -
    $ 28

Lots of parking and free delivery up to 5miles :)

This place is real small outside and in, and you'd miss it if you weren't looking close enough, as my friend tends to do when we try going there. Still, it's totally worth the search; very good food at a very good price.

Strangely enough, they have one of the best Thai iced teas I've ever had...and this is VEGAN Thai tea?!?! Yes. I love it. Perfectly sweetened and creamy-ish.

For some reason, I always go there whenever I have my monthly home fries cravings. Good thing too, because their home fries are yummy (theoretically, it would be hard to mess up home fries, but I've been disappointed many times in the past). But I do admit it is rather strange to have a dish of potatoes when you're having spring rolls and pad thai (READ: they have a very varied menu), all of which are good. I heard some of the items on their breakfast menu is kinda strange tasting (maybe it was the sausage?)  but everything I've ever had here is tasty. And they even have those coconuts where you drink right out of the coconut, if you're so inclined (I'm not but my vegan friend LOVES them).

People who work there are always nice and helpful and pretty quick. And for those of you who are KCRW Fringe Beneficiaries, they've got you covered here.
