Sooo many memories! I grew up nearby here and we used to drive to Sauk Centre on weekend evenings to divulge in some late night grease. It's pretty cheap and the food is exactly what you would expect at a truckstop. It's also probably the only restaurant open 24 hours between Alexandria and St. Cloud.
Dave S. is accurate in his observation that this is the local hangout for High Schoolers, so don't be surprised to see teens here. They usually don't bite. -
Review from Dave S.
It was really difficult to find a restaurant off of I94 in Minnesota between Minneapolis and Fargo, ND. Every exit offered a veritable plethora of fast food chains. UGH! UGH! UGH! I hate fast food chains. We finally came across this place and decided to stop in for a bite to eat. We were were so hungry we were about ready to start eating each others limbs.
This place is a typical truck stop: restaurant, gas station, convenience store, with the nasty bathrooms. It also seemed to the late night hang out for the local high because it seemed like the entire teenage population of Sauk Centre was there at this time.
I ordered a patty melt and fries and the lovely Lara W ordered a tuna melt. My food was not even memorable enough to go in to too much detail here. I could have made the same thing, if not better at home for a fraction of the cost. Our server did her job but she seemed like she could have really cared less and just wanted to go home.
If you ever find yourself starving in the middle of the night driving to Fargo this place will do the rick in a pinch, but I would suggest stopping somewhere in Minneapolis before you get out in the middle of nowhere.
