I was dragged here for a holiday party, so I can't speak for how Trilogy would be were it not closed off to the general public.  BUT, I can tell you that the front room is really pretty and set up nicely.  The back room is dark and more 'divey'.  I could definitely see myself stopping in here for a nice glass of wine and a small plate of food some evening.  Seems like a laid-back alternative to some other Boulder hot spots.

Sorry Trilogy, but if it weren't' for the awesome venue and the employees back there (props to the bartenders back there), it would only be 1 star. Actually, that would be too kind after the service I got. It's unfortunate, I love the venue!

That said, the restaurant sucks for one overriding reason:  the service is terrible. Actually, not terrible. Horrible. As in, it effing sucks. Worst I've had in Boulder. The tattooed waitress was rude, delivered the wrong order, took forever, and was condescending.

First, the waitress acted as if I was terribly inconveniencing her for asking for a glass of wine. They are a wine bar, correct?

Second, it took her 15-20 minutes to get my wine. This is not an exaggeration. I even went to the bartender to try to get it, and the bartender said the waitress hadn't submitted my order yet and I had to wait. After asking 3-4 times, it finally came. And it was not what I ordered. Awesome.

Third, I paid cash for my wine and left, then she double charged the wine to my friends still at the table. My friends were all equally displeased at the whole Trilogy experience.

She basically did not give a sh!t about doing her job. It's a shame, I've met the owner sister who is in charge of booking bands, and she seemed really cool and was very friendly.

Too bad the service was horrendous.

Oh, and I've heard the same story from several people. So I'm not the only one. And it wasn't the first time they sucked, although this was the peak of their performance.

I really wish I could say Trilogy was awesome, but I'm just telling the truth.

Sorry, kids, the sisters have sold Trilogy! Won't be open much longer. Which isn't really *that* much of a tragedy, really, unless you were banking on that bottomless glass of wine.

Stopped by here for happy hour.

If you order an appetizer, you can get a "bottomless" wine glass for $5.

I had a really good salad, small but tasty and very fresh, and maybe five glasses of wine.  Total damage: $11.00.  What a deal =)

The lady behind the bar, I did not catch her name, was really cool.  Just the right amount of conversation, and a cool vibe from her.  She also never let my wine glass go empty, which was probably a bad thing...lol.

I did not catch a performance in the back room, but I would definitely check this place out again.

All organic produce and grains, cheap appetizers and $5 bottomless wine from 5-7.

Late night, good dj's spinning in the front room, live music in the back room, diverse crowds, and zero bad attitude.  This place rocks!

I enjoyed the bottomless glass of wine a bit too much last night, but the appetizers were really good, the service quite nice, and the atmosphere mellow.  All in all a 4 star experience, thank you Trilogy for the hangover. I should know better.

As noted by other reviewers, the food is very good, with regular items, specials and variety.  I've been there for a few shows--it's a small, intimate venue, best for acoustic music and poetry readings, too small for loud music.  Sunday salsa music in the front room is great.

The last time I went for dinner, I had one of their specials, a seafood gnocci.  It was a-maz-ing.  I about fell out of my chair it was so good, and it paired well with their house white (which is a touch sweet with ginger and apple qualities and a peppery finish).  The gnocci were a perfect chewy that somehow complimented the texture of the black mussels and shrimp (neither of which was the usual rubbery one might otherwise find in Boulder).  The sauce was flavorful, textured, rich and hearty, and full of garlicky goodness (chunks of garlic!).  There was more of the dish than I could eat, otherwise I would have licked the plate clean.

Happy hour at Trilogy is one of the best in town -- 1 appetizer and 1 glass of house wine will set you back about $12, but the wine glass is bottomless.  Be mindful when drinking, however -- the friendly and attentive waitresses come by to refill glasses before you get to the bottom, so it can be challenging to track how much you drink.  It's easy to get very toasty at Trilogy.

Both of the house wines (red and white) are very palatable and go well with just about anything on their menu, as a good table wine should.  However, Trilogy also has the best (not the largest, but the best) selection of wines in Boulder.  Whoever chooses their bottles has  good taste in central coastal Californian wines.

It's also frequented by a sort of queer intelligentsia, struggling artist, bohemian writer/poet crowd--not of the created/attempted sort that Amanda W. notes in her review, but one that's the real McCoy.  However, that crowd tends to hang out at off-peak hours, when we can sit on the couches and have conversation over wine and appetizers.  And I like the art.  During on-peak hours, it seems to be mostly college students.  Like most places in Boulder, it's best in the summer when most students have fled town.  Late afternoon happy hour at the outdoor/sidewalk seating is the best.

The bathroom is a little grungy, however, particularly when there's a show in the back hall.

Yeah, the Tril is pretty Thrill...ing.  A bottle of wine can go a long way here towards making your night...amazing.  Happened to me once.  Amazing.  Some friends I introduced on this night haven't been the same since.  Like, they're in couple form now.  Wrecked a scooter on this night and I guess the impact....

Anyways, Trilogy is a great place for a dance (say, if you are moderately  older and say, 40% hippied out, but not fulling showing, yet).  That's the front room.   (All the wine is here too).  Then you go in the back...and it's like you have entered a different world.  Generally some hippie mumbo jumbo going on back here too BUT not necessarily so.  Have seen a radical fashion show or two (on account of Denver's styling Boss Vintage of course).  So, two thumbs up.  But, like nearly everywhere in B-Town, watch out for hippies.

Trilogy - named for the three sisters who run the place. My details may be a tad muddied, but to the best of my recollection one is the chef, one majored in restaurant management, and the other books the talent for the music venue in back. The restaurant area is pretty small so if you'd like to stay for dinner, not just drinks and hors d'oeuvres, you should consider making a reservation.

The ambiance is... recent graduate, struggling artist, boho chic, I guess. What I mean to say is that they try, and don't quite succeed, to create a hip, artsy environment. The art's pretty awful and the overall ambiance is a bit too grungy for my part.

The wine selection is good, and if you buy an appetizer at happy hour (go for the coconut shrimp), your wine glass becomes bottomless. Their martinis are okay but I'm never quite satisfied with them, the proportions are never quite right. It is a wine bar afterall...

The food is the real star of Trilogy. They buy locally and create some really creative and delicious food. The menu changes often, but when it's available I almost always go for the grilled lamb loin on red wine risotto topped with mushrooms and onion stings.

You could do dinner for under $30 a person, but if you're going for drinks, hors d'oeuvres, dinner, and dessert expect to spend twice as much.

one of the weirdest places i went to in boulder. i went there to see a couple of shows--adam green and the thrills--which was a completely ODD venue for both artists. i wasn't expecting to enter the place and walk into this upscale-ish restaurant. i was pretty confused at first. and had to ask where the hell i go. i was led to the back where there's a whole separate room for musical performances. and actually that area is pretty cool. small, decent sound and a bar. not too bad once you find the venue.

A wine bar in the front and music venue in the back, Trilogy tries (and sometimes succeeds) to wrap up a fun evening all in the same place.  A couple of important points:

1.  The food is excellent, but pretty pricey.  Jessica the chef (and one of the triplets for whom the bar is named) is very good.
2.  The music scene ranges from very mediocre to absolutely fantastic.   You can check the schedule at www.trilogywinebar.com for more details.
3.  The wine list is great, it really is.  When I want to go a nice bar and have a drink, I always choose Trilogy.

By sq. ft. this place is 20% resturant, 30% and 50% music. A lot of the music is local acts and can be hit and miss. The room sounds good and there's plenty of room to dance (the floor is concrete though). When it's happening it can be really hapening.
