So it was high time that Stephanie M and I got together for drinks, sustennance and - most importantly - catching up on life and gossipping. After some text-tag of "Where should we go? What's hot now, what's going on? I don't care, as long as there's liquor...." etc it dawned on me that I wasn't hungry, I just wanted CHEESE. Oh yes. Wine and cheese would of been lovely, thankfully Steph was on it, she knew just where to go. TRIA.
It did not disappoint. First of all, the staff at the door and our server were all superfriendly (and not in that fake way) and while the foot-long menu of cheese and wine is alot to take in (even with amazing on-point descriptions written underneath each selection). Our server was extremely helpful in her suggestions of what we should order based on what we like. I was more wary of ordering the 'wrong' wine with the cheeses that I wanted to try but our server helped me out with that as well and her choice was perfect.
If there is anything I like better than cheese, it's olives. I'm obsessed with fancy olives. Tria had an outrageous olive dish appetizer with a variety of different types of olives in some light oil and spices. It was heavenly. I saw some main dishes and sandwiches on the menu, I'm sorry I didn't sample anything else but after stuffing myself sick on olives, 4 different types of cheeses and 2 glasses of wine after not drinking for a few months I was satiated.
If I remember, we picked 3 or 4 cheeses from different areas. I do remember that I specifically ordered a Portuguese cheese because I miss being in Lisbon (and their food) so very much. It was delicious. We probably got a French cheese and quite possibly an Italian cheese as well. Sometimes it's hard to remember what's going in your mouth when you're talking so much with a friend.
I've raved about Tria to some other people and am trying to get a group to get back over there asap.
Or Steph -- if you want to go back again some night just call or text me!
I imagine Tria is a place you take a hot date to on a friday or saturday night...hey, maybe even a thursday. Unfortunately for me this was not the case, but I hope to someday rectify the situation.
Instead of hot dates, my boss treated me and my coworkers here SO MANY TIMES in a 4 month span of time for lunches. I do love free meals, but amazing free meals are even better. In my opinion I'd say Tria is one of the best places to eat in this area of town. I love cheese, and they have lots of cheese. Everything on the menu is described fully so you understand exactly what you're getting and the wait staff know exactly what they're talking about in regards to the foods, wines and beers that pair together nicely.
Its a small popular place that fills up fast, but definitely worth trying out even if you have to wait.

What can I say after so many great reviews? I agree with everybody's praise of the high quality selection of food and drink, exquisite taste of everything, and hip, cozy atmosphere.
I was here with some business partners on a Thursday afternoon at 3:00pm. You would have thought it was Friday happy hour or something, cause the place was hoppin'. We shared three appetizers and each had an entree. I honestly don't remember what all they were - it was basically something awesome coupled with a side of awesome, and topped with a touch of more-awesome. Oh yeah, the figs were one of the appetizers... I also had a Duvel and finished with a few Dogfish Heads "Midas Touch" which was quite heavenly.
The service was spectacular - down to earth staff who made fantastic recommendations.
All in all, I left having one of the best meals in my entire life. Not too many places leave such a memory.
Wanna save the world? Treat me to Tria 5-days a week. Every time I leave, I'm a man of great power. I stop criminals in action, dance in the rain, walk old ladies across the street and even heal the sick with a wink of my eye. Seriously, that's what great wine, beer and cheese does to me.
There's nothing better than a server who can truly couple food and alcohol. It's a skill reserved only for the finest palates... and the French. I love beer, I love cheese and I love wine but they'd all taste terrible if I was your server. Art, skill and knowledge - that's the difference between a typical server and a Tria server and that's why they have such great reviews.
My only negative (and I couldn't even take a star away because it's so small) is the size/seating situation. The Rittenhouse and West Washington Square locations are tiny and cramped. This might, however, contribute to the ambiance... I'll leave that one up to you.
Say what you will about the trendy places, but I know this to be true; Tria will last a lifetime.

I have a feeling that this place is going to become my spot! It's kind of like the perfect neighborhood bar for people who love wine. It's not stuffy in any way, it's very relaxed.
Great wine selection and just the kind of food I like. I have always been partial to tapas places and places that serve small plates because I like a lot of different tastes without leaving so full I can't walk.
Tria has a great selection of wine and beer (I'm partial to the wine myself) and a nice food menu. I had the Fresh Mozzarella, Roasted Tomato and Basil Oil Bruschetta which was amazing. Then I tried the Nettle Meadow Kunik Cheese, which was served with a blueberry jam and bread.
Over all the food was great, and the wine was very enjoyable. I will be back again.

Tria has become one of my favorite restaurants in Philly.
The last time I went, I was alone, and in need of quick, quality food, and Tria took care of me with aplomb. I sat at the bar and was treated exactly as I would had I been a party of more than one. I had quite a few questions regarding my order, and the staff, each worker, was helpful, thorough and courteous. when one server couldn't answer my question, he went an got the chef,
The cheese selection is divine, and although I didn't drink alcohol on the most recent occasion, my past experience is that the beer selection is varied and delicious , and the wine choices are truly interesting. When I once ordered a wine I didn't like, I was offered a replacement, which made it easy to experiment.
My favorite dish is the Grilled Asparagus/Artichoke/White Bean Salad. It's so delicious, I rarely order anything else, but when I have, it's all been tasty. There are options for veggies and meaties alike.
One word of warning... the music is LOUD, so if you are looking for intimate conversation, this is not the place, but if you are looking for really great food and drink, head to Tria!

Totally fun and very hip. If you're a taster this is a great place for an experimental adventure. Not great for a meal but perfect for snacking or an after dinner drink. Tria has an array of wine, beer, cheese, and hors d'oeuvres to try in small samples.
What I love about the menu is that if you're an amateur at wines and cheeses (which I totally am) the menu gives an articulate and descriptive summary of what each selection tastes like. Sometimes the descriptions are a bit excessive, but you get the idea. The restaurant has classy vibes, but I find if you want some intimate chit chat, sit near the door or outside because the music is definitely loud.
I find they have a great selection of red wines, the bruschettas are wonderfully savory, and definitely check out the cheeses! Three people is a perfect group to split one dish. Order a bunch. Yum Yum!

My friends and I decided to go to Tria on a Sunday afternoon after already brunching and drinking elsewhere. I'm really glad we went! Sundays offer Sunday School, which gives you a chance to sample wines, cheese and beers for super cheap. And they offer quality wines, cheese and beers.
I had the Three Cheese and Tomato Panino which was delectable. I savored every bite. I could eat it for lunch every day. It was about $7, which I think is really reasonable for a good sandwich.
The bartender was nice and despite a full house, the bar had three open spots seemingly awaiting my friends and me. I'm not sure about the rest of the week, but I'd suggest if you've never been you try Tria on a Sunday to take advantage of the deals.

UPD:
Jon M, owner of Tria, has contacted me and offered an apology for the mistake regarding Temptation and his take on T Gaverhopke Extra.
I definitely appreciate Jon reaching out and in retrospect perhaps I was a bit harsh. As I said, the food was good and the service was very friendly. I might not necessarily agree with Jon on whether T Gaverhopke Extra is a Quad or BDSA, but he is right that it might not be very clear-cut and its something that could be debated between beer geeks.
Below is original review if you are still interested.
I was very disappointed with Tria.
The place is nice and the staff is super friendly.
However, and this is my the reason for my disappointment - the menu listed Russian River Consecration. That's precisely why I wanted to come to Tria and that's what I ordered from the bartender. Instead (and without a warning or anything) I got a bottle of Russian River Temptation. I did not appreciate such a switch, especially since they charge you $38 per bottle (last year I got the very same bottle for just over $20 at Eulogy).
After Temptation I ordered a bottle of T Gaverhopke Extra. The menu listed the beer as a Quadrupel. However, once I saw it in the glass, smelled and tried it, I was doubting whether it really is a Quad. It had a rich nutty flavor and looked and tasted a bit on a porter side (though it was not a porter). Since it was supposed to be a rare beer from a very small and somewhat unknown brewery I gave it the benefit of the doubt...
I've checked with BeerAdvocate and it is definitely not a quad, but rather a Belgian Strong Dark Ale.
So, the two beers I've ordered (and the reason I came to Tria was beer) were both misavdertised and in case of the Temptation cost me more than I would've wanted to pay for it...
The food was decent and the service, outside the beer fiasco was nice.

I love Sunday School @ Tria! 1 beer, 1 wine & 1 cheese offered at ~50% off (one each per customer)!
Word to the wise, if planning to show up around dinner time, put your name in at least 30 min in advance (we waited 45 min last night). Looking to avoid crowds? Show up @ 3pm for some afternoon wine, beer & cheese & avoid the lines. They also have dog-friendly outdoor seating along Sansom St.
My girlfriends and I meet up here each Sunday & end up paying about $15 each (tax & tip included) for a couple hours of girly talk, wine, beer & a cheese plate. Last night's specials included a crisp Austrian white wine, 11.8% Weyerbacher beer & an aged cheshire served with a roasted tomato mustard sauce. Delish!
The service last night was excellent - our attentive waiter brought extra bread for our cheese plate, kept our water glasses filled & swiftly cleared empty glasses from our table.

Ideal Sunday: Wake up at noon, call my 3 closest friends and head down to Tria for Sunday school. Every Sunday Tria features one beer, wine and cheese for half the price! Ordering one of each with an additional salad or sandwich is the perfect, cost-effective way to recap the weekend with friends on a lazy Sunday. Although I am partial to the original location, if it is too crowded I would check out the more spacious location at 12th and Spruce.

We stopped into Tria after reading other reviews on Yelp. When we couldn't decide between the Cote De Rhones and Cabernet, our bartender brought us out a sample of each prior to us ordering a bottle. We ordered a 1998 bottle of Cabernet at the advice of our server, and it did not disappoint. Another member of our party ordered a new Port beer from S. CA which he was a fan of.
We had fennel roasted almonds (delicious), Gruyere stuffed figs with prosciutto (superb) and a mixed Italian meats platter (salami, prosciutto, etc). All were fantastic and very reasonably priced.
The staff was fantastic, knowledgeable and the environment very friendly.

Stopped by here on a nice Monday for a lunch with a girlfriend.
It was pleasant because the inside a air-conditioned on this super hot day, but still felt open. I ordered a glass of GEWÜRZTRAMINER "SPÄTLESE," PFEFFINGEN, '07 (copy and paste is a beautiful thing) and Brie de Nangis with Balsamic Strawberries.
It was incredible: the bruschetta was toasted and the brie just melted on top of the bread... The wine itself was very good (however, we're not reviewing a wine here otherwise I could go on for pages on how much I've enjoyed it.)
My girlfriend got the salmon salad, another glass of white (also a hit - all of their wines seem to be great) and the flourless chocolate cake. The service, however, was so-so. Our waiter forgot about my wine, however he was very apologetic and brought me my glass immediately. I felt a little awkward for some reason.
I was hoping the menu would have recommendations for wine pairings with the cheeses. However, I liked their classifications and the menu was very easy to navigate. I was a little too scared to ask the waiter (didn't want to upset him... :-/ )

I REVIEWED THE WRONG TRIA! i feel bed :( but i posted this review in the OTHER Tria's profile. i'm sure are equally as wonderful though!
this place is wonderful. the decor is comfortable and clean. i loved the lighting and the colors. and the huge windows everywhere are so inviting. the staff was super friendly and on the ball, refilling water and ready to take orders without us having to ask or even motion for their attention. the food was perfect- from the plating to the taste to the protion size and price. i would go back in a heartbeat. i wish they had more veggie friendly items, but for the smallish menu they actually do have a good amount. the prices are very fair- our bill for 4 (2 had wine, 1 had a beer, 4 salads, and 2 starters, plus tip) was about $82. i felt like a real adult dining here haha

Beer, Wine and Cheese are great. A bit pricey but good for a dinner date. Overall food is fair but their prices are great for the food.
Definitely a worthwhile place to go
A wine-loving friend came into town, and we decided to go to Center City for a night out. I'd never tried Tria, so we started there, expecting to have a glass of wine and move on (this location is centrally located, within walking distance to lots of other great places in near Rittenhouse Square). We ended up putting our names on the wait list (35mins.), and grabbed the last 2 open seats at the bar. Our first glass of wine was great. We were moved to a table before we even finished our first glasses.
Food is really good! My friend started out with the gorgonzola and fig jam bruschetta (something I never thought I'd eat) -- I had a bite and really liked it. I had the house-made chips with aoili for a snack. We split the mozzarella sandwich, which was great and came with a great small side salad with dressing that I wish I could make at home.
What impressed me most was the casual upscale vibe (defintely very nice inside -- worlds away from a dive -- but not trying too hard to be fancy), and the attentiveness of the staff. The hostess, servers and bartenders were so professional, friendly and elegant; they brought high-class service to an unpretentious place. I like that you can go to Tria in jeans and still get exceptional service.
It's safe to say I will be back.

Tria is a true stalwart of this town. Their selection of wine, beer, and cheese is always on point. The staff is sweet and knowledgeable and laid back; you will find no bullshit aloofness or attitude here.
Though I must say I am no fan of their actual plates. The dried mission fig and gorgonzola salad which has been on the menu for what feels like a decade is only meh worthy. A chicken, bacon and blue cheese salad was served with each component much too cold, as if it had been composed days ago and was just now released from the refrigerator section of a 7-11.
But, skip all that. Go on Sunday and try a new cheese or beer or wine for 3 dollars. Experiment with tastes and pairings. Listen to your bartenders advice and enjoy.

A great place to go to try new wines and cheeses...
This is where you should go if you are just looking to get something light and a few glasses of wine. While the place is a bit pricey, it offers alot of culture on the menu. If you are feeling adventurous, you can try one of the cheeses from the "stinky" section of the menu (yes, the menu is actually categorized by intensity of the cheese and this is one of them)
The best time to check this place out is when they offer the "Sunday School" menu which offers half priced drinks and cheese. The only disappointment is that the prices for the "Sunday School" offer applies only to the first glass and first order of cheese. After that, you are on your own.

this place gets very busy on the weekdays so i suggest come early. i arrived around 6 and it as already filling up.
it is a tight squeeze so its probably best to go with people you know because the small space may be uncomfortable with a first date or long time friend you have fallen out of touch with.
they have a long list of wines and depending on their specials some inexpensive beer selections.
the food was very tasty, maybe a bit small but all together enjoyable and satisfying.
the noise can be loud but that shouldn't be a reason to avoid this place. definitely a hot spot in center city, a must see! i recommend their caramelized onion and feta cheese bruschetta and their Smoked Chicken and Lancaster Cheddar Sandwich with Tomato, Piquillo Pepper, Herbed Truffle Aioli sandwich.
I joined Yelp to rave about this restaurant.
The wife and I went to Philly on a quick getaway while the kids were at the grandparents and this was a great date place on a Saturday night. It was good to get a real taste of Philly in this restaurant that fit into the neighborhood.
We showed up around 9, the wait wasn't too long.
We're not really wine-and-cheese types, but the menu had helpful descriptions that kept it from being overwhelming. We ended up getting two cheeses - a Kelik (sp?) and a Cabot Cheddar. Both were delicious!
I really enjoyed the extensive beer selection and highly recommend the Ommegang Abbey Ale.
For dinner, the sandwiches were excellent and fairly priced. The chicken and cheddar sandwich I had was full of flavor.
For dessert, the lemon square with blueberry compote was a great finish.
Our waiter was attentive and helpful and we never had a dull moment.

Met up with everyone in Philadelphia and went to Tria on Sunday night. Seriously. This place was packed and there was a 40 minute wait. It was perfect and made me really happy. I'm so used to haters going on and on about how amazing New York is because there's a busy bar or restaurant on any given night of the week. I will admit, Philly seems to like its sleep on off-nights, but last Sunday at Tria gave me faith.
My friend and I were lucky enough to score 2 seats at the bar within 5 minutes of walking in. Just seconds later, the bartender (who felt more like a casual/cool sommelier) approached us with menus and questions and shared some of her picks.
We ordered at various points throughout the night. Here a dish, there a dish, everywhere a dish dish. The mission figs with gorgonzola and prosciutto were really good, but probably for someone who likes figs...they just don't excite me. The warm mushroom and raclette fondue was really just a mushroom and cheese dip. I guess the word raclette confused me. Anyway, it was fantastic - especially so when paired with the malbec. My wine enthusiast friend swore by the malbec and called it her fav of the night. Then there was some duck salad action. We paired that with the pinot noir and found the clementines (from the salad) and wine combo to be a definite match.
I loved the gouda cheese and ate it with just about every wine we tried. I felt like there was nothing better than the taste of gouda and wine dancing inside my mouth. The Argentinean Torrontes, however, felt too flowery for my taste. Almost like I was drinking roses. We finished off with the banana panini (divine) and paired that with the cava (a sparkling delight).
I'd say Tria is the place to go if you're looking to experiment with your taste buds. I came with an open mind and found out I like white wine and duck after all. I recommend asking your server or bartender for their favorite pairings or just wing it and make up your own. Yay wine and little plates of food.

Tria is always a good time. I've never had a bad experience here. Their food is simple but delicious and always tasty. My recommendation is the artichoke panini!! There are a lot of drink options whether you prefer wine or beer you'll be satisfied. This place is a safe bet!
Also, check out their events menu! There are always different things going on and usually great deals accompanying the event!
I've been a fan of TRIA's since it opened. If you like finer wines
& hand crafted beers - this is the place to go. They have a unique
selection of wine & beer, great cheese selection(and other "snacky" food), friendly & knowledgeable staff, nice atmosphere. One "complaint"
I have is: it tends to get quite crowded so it helps to go early
& secure seats. ALSO - I WISH they would do a sampler of
their beers on draft. I wonder WHY they DON'T do this???
CHEERS!!!!!!

Every time I have come to Tria, it has been awesome. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable (recently three of us ate there, with several dishes, beers, and wines for around $50!), the waiters are really friendly and accommodating of questions (and mispronunciations), and the atmosphere is just generally very laid back, unpretentious, and enjoyable.
I should take away a point because there are so many things that look fantastic on the menu, but the things I have ordered are so good that I am loathe to try other things!
So far some of my favorites have been the Cremeux de Bourgogne (a deliciously rich, creamy, salty cheese, like brie but better than any regular brie I've tried), the Persille de malzieu (which Tria describes as Roquefort without the tariff--I'm not sure whether I'd go that far, but it's still a very good strong cheese), the egg toast (this is a sadly understated description for that wonder of warm yolk, melted cheese, and buttery crisp bread), and a charcuterie plate that we ordered once as a shared group appetizer for something ridiculous like $6. I have yet to try a dessert because I am always pleasantly full from cheese and snacks, but it's next on my list.
The Tria membership is also a nice deal if you plan to become a regular. You get gift cards for every certain amount of money you spend, and also incentives to try new beers and cheese.
In summary, Tria has been fantastic every time I've been there, and I'm looking forward to returning.

Yeah, the cheese here is great! But what makes this place exceptional is the service, cool peeps without the too cool for you attitude. We went with another couple and brought our bebe for Sunday School which is quite a good deal...we still ended up spending a bit of cash even with the discounted beers, wine and cheese. I wouldn't call this a place for kids/babys but ours loved it and no one batted an eye when I had to breast feed our baby - at the table, I was discreet. Its also just loud enough to mask any squeals and screeches that a baby might make.
I highly recommend the bannanna caramel marscapone cheese panino for dessert, it is too good to be true.
Both locations are equally great for dinner and lunch, though I prefer the one kitty-corner to 10 Ritt. because I like to watch the construction.

My boyfriend and I took a mini vacation to Philly, and tria was our favorite restaurant of the trip! We met another couple here and enjoyed sampling wine, beer and delicious cheese. The wine and beer menu as well as the cheese menu was almost overwhelming with an abundance of choices. We had a hard time deciding on what cheese to order, but in the end we enjoyed everything we ate and we were impressed with the jam and honey pairings for the cheese. The atmosphere was relaxed and the server was attentive. The day we came to tria was a hot and humid day, but it felt delightful to relax in here! Next time I come to Philly I definitely plan to make another stop in here.

I sort of empathize with Chris Rock being the only black guy at a Coldplay concert. Obviously, there's more Wonder Bread than whole wheat toast. There's not much to complain about here since service is so friendly and efficient.
There is ample brightness with lighting and decor is basic contemporary. The epiphanous "Viva La Vida" was playing when we arrived. The place was packed, but we got seated at the bar right away. When we requested outdoor seating, it didn't take the smiley hostess more than 5 minutes to make it readily available for us.
The menu boasts an extensive craft beer selection and a great wine list. It's definitely on the pricier end compared to it's brotherly counterpart Monk's Cafe. Even though we both shared a teeny weeny wedge of cheese for $7, I was more satisfied by getting a pint of Ommegang Abbey Ale here for $5.50. When our server heard us utter the world "birthday", he decided not include the last drinks we had on the bill.
I love this place! I'll keep coming back even if I am the only whole wheat toast in the house.

I challenge you to name a restaurant in Philly that has better service than Tria. Everyone, from the hostess, to the servers, to the bus boys are friendly and cheery. This was my third time dining here and it's constantly good. Arrived around 8:30 on a Friday and was told it would be about 20 minutes for a table so we bellied up to the bar where we instantly found a spot. We choose Dogfish Head Punkin ale and Founders Breakfast Stout instead of a sampling from the nicely assembled wine list. When our table was ready the hostess took our drinks and led us to the table. We ordered the mixed olives and four cheeses to share. While I didn't write down the names of the cheese, all four were excellent. Our water glasses were never more than half empty. Our waitress made sure neither of us had our mouths full before coming over to ask how everything was. I just can't say enough good things about Tria's staff. Also, thanks to the Yelpers who have clued me in to Sunday school special... I'll definitely check that out.

There was a lot I loved about Tria. My salmon sandwich was reasonably priced and tasted divine! And just generally Tria had a super cool vibe. Also, I kind of fell in love with their website.
So why only three stars? First, my husband said his chicken sandwich was nothing special (it was more of a chicken salad when he expected chicken breast). Second, and most importantly, they sat us cramped in the back by the bathrooms, and the air conditioning was blowing right on us. Sounds great right? Wrong - we froze! I do not like it when you can actually feel the cold air breeze. Even after we bundled up with any available cloth items we were all still shivering and goose-bumped.
If I go here again, I'll definitely request outdoor or window seating. Those seats are much more attractive and less freezing!

My favorite intimate spot in the city!
Great prices, great beer selection, great staff. And Sunday's there are special deals called "Sunday School". Atmosphere is cozy. Great for a date. Fun music, loud though.
Small selection, but specific enough to be incredibly enjoyable if you like bruschetta, cheese, wine and beer.

If there is one thing that i have learned from going on beer trips with my parents since i was in high school its that i can't keep up with them drinking beer. (and no i haven't been drinking beer since HS!) So when my Dad suggested checking out Tria for our first stop on the beer trip to Philly, i was excited that they had something i could easily drink and keep up with the rents: wine.
However my plan was nearly foiled when i sat down and saw they had a Russian River tap. I kept saying to myself "Please let them have Pliny, please let them have pliny". They didnt, but still the beer selection here was awesome. The fact that they even offered Russian River (from California) was great. Other beers included Belgian style ales... great for the rents, but not my cup of tea.
So i opted for one of their wines. They had probably 20 plus different wines and it ended up being a very difficult decision on my part. I started with the reisling, which was very sweet and very good. Then i progressed to the Shiraz which was very sharp and immediate caused the heart burn. but thats the price i must pay for good wine. I will say that the wines run 8-12 bucks a glass, so choose wisely! You'd hate to spend all that money for something you didn't like. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable, and the descriptions on the menus of the wine are very accurrate.
The food seemed to be unqiue and intrigueing, but expensive. There were a lot of different cheese selections, but the plates i saw had more bread than cheese. I would have liked to have seen a sampler platter or some kind of combination of cheeses. The one seemingly reasonable thing were the different brushettas. I got the goat cheese and pesto, which was awesome. But it only came with two slices of bread. For $3.50, thats a little much.
Overall, the prices are high, but the quality is great. It would be a great place to grab a quick drink, but i'm not sure that i would be willing to go here on a regular basis. Plus it bugged me that not only were the bathrooms unisex but they weren't even labeled as bathrooms.

I went to Tria with two friends to catch up and talk. My first impression was, that it was small and crowded and wouldn't be a great place for us to take our time, turns out I was wrong (it's been known to happen) and I love the place now!
The service was excellent, our waitress was friendly, accomdating and very knowledgable. The wine selection, as expected, was incredible!
While I didn't eat a meal we did enjoy a few small plate and I ate beets! I hate beets but the waitress pointed out that most people don't care for "pickled" beets, theirs were roasted and I should give them a try, as the dish would go well with the wine that I was drinking. She was so right I wanted to hug her, and she had on a super cute dress!
Great atmosphere, great service, awesome wine list and tasty food all delivered by a funny lady in a charming frock = give me more :)

I've never been thrilled with the place, but it offers a good fall back if the place you wanted to go to was closed/packed, you cant figure out where to go on a date, you need to entertain a friend in town, etc...
But I'll never go out of my way to get here. In by opinion, your better off going to Monks/Devils Alley/Belgian Cafe/that beer place in old city for beer, a friends house for wine, and mercato or de brunos for cheese...

This place hit all the right notes for me.
Friendly, prompt service. Beautiful decor without being 'too much.'
I'm a big fan of lists. I could read their wine list, beer list and cheese list continuously and drool. Especially the cheeses. Dayum.
I chose a red from SW France ($10), the boy had a Dogfish Head Aprihop beer ($7) and we split the Rogue Chocolate Stout Bread Pudding.
That was an amazing dessert.
The wine was awesome.
The menu was right up my alley, but we had already eaten down the street at Vic...
I can't wait to come back with some friends to sample cheeses, more wine and yet another dessert.

I love win, cheese, and a relaxed environment. Tria supplies all three. I had a Delicious white wine there the other day that i cannot stop thinking about! So good! The staff is always nice and friendly. All in all a great place to go and relax after work to have something to drink and eat.
While I certainly prefer the other location, I've decided that Tria is Tria and Tria is GOOD!
Just the most exciting and desirable Wine & Beer lists. The food menu has yet to feature one single word that isn't a "deal maker" for me. The staff in both locations has impressed with their quality in service, personality, and knowledge.
I take one half star away for preferring the layout and openness of the other location.
I take one and half star for the kitchen employee that knew of (I can't say he was the actual culprit)..knew of the giant TURD that would not flush and did nothing to stop me from entering the restroom as he was exiting, nor did he or anyone return to TRY to help it along!

I ended up here tonight after already brunching at Jones and dinnering and drinking at SPTR. We tried to go to the other location so we could eat outside, but there was no seating visibly available when we went by ten times looking for parking. Luckily we got a spot on the same block here and three great seats at the bar. I think I could end up getting the perfect attendance award at this Sunday School. I had a beer and a generous wedge of cheese for about $8. I wished that I had a highlighter with me, I love the education provided on clipboards. Apart from the Sunday School specials they had a pretty well rounded beer, wine, and cheese menu, with prices very comparable to similar spots around the city.

I'd give Tria 3.5 stars if I could. Here are the details: They serve about 27 wines by the glass plus 7 dessert wines. The selection is from all over the world, which feels a little like a survey. I don't think they serve many if any wines by the bottle, and they don't offer tasting flights.
The food selection is a little sparse and standard. They serve 'snacks' like almonds, charcuterie, prosciutto-wrapped dates, etc; bruschetta with fancy toppings like wild mushrooms & fontina; salads; sandwiches; desserts and cheese. The cheese menu is good.
The service leaves something to be desired. Maybe 4 of the 6 or 7 Tria servers I've encountered have been really nice but the others are awfully surly. I'm also never really satisfied by their wine recommendations. My estimate is that the servers know the basics about the wines they serve, but not the details.
On the other hand, the atmosphere is great, so while there are things I don't love about Tria, I keep going back. If I'm missing better wine bars in Philly, let me know! In the meantime, 4 stars for Tria.
