9 reviews for Tres Hermanos Taqueria
Just made it in time before closing on a Sunday night. I was greeted by the friendly woman working in the store half. They have a good selection to choose from on their menu and I couldn't figure out what I wanted for a minute or two... I ended up settling on a chorizo burrito.
The meal came out fairly fast and was topped with lettuce, onions, avocado, and a sauce and served with rice and beans. It was a delicious, homestyle meal which started my Harrisburg trip on the right foot.
Authentic Mexican food at great prices. Casual atmosphere. I like stopping by for lunch after church.
I usually get the tacos but nothing I have seen looks bad. I like the little toppings bar with fresh ingredients for making the tacos my own.
Best salsa around, and its becoming a lunch time must: three tacos. Great menu and slowly making my way through it. Pork, which I never eat normally is must and the chicken tacos is very tasty as well. Like many have said its just canteen style from the inside but the staff is friendly and quite a few booths for a small place. Its a must for soft tacos... did I mention the tacos? Yum.
I've been there three times now, after reading reviews here on Yelp. The tacos are outstanding. What a joy to find real, authentic Mexican food of this quality. Nothing fancy, just really good food. Their fresh made salsas and other toppings are excellent. (The fresh salsas are very spicy by American standards.)
Several of the employees are completely fluent in English and they have a printed English menu. However, there are more offerings up on the board on the wall, in Spanish, then there are in the English menu. So, check both.
The small store in the back has an impressive selection for its size. Fresh Tomatillos for example. Prices on some items are unbelievably low. Nice selection of dried chiles, cheap.
(If anyone has tried the beef tongue tacos, please report back. Thanks.)
I had to try this place after seeing the high reviews, and I've got to say I'll agree that this place serves very authentic Mexican food, it was delicious. Not much to look at inside, but the cook/server was very friendly, and the food came out surprisingly quick.
I ordered the marinated pork with rice n beans and my counterpart ordered the chicken tacos. Both were delicious and very modestly priced. I especially enjoyed the toppings bar, and yes that salsa is mucho calor! I would definitely go back, although I am curious about some of the other Mexican spots in Steelton so I might have to make a few more rounds before a return visit.
Tres Hermanos taqueria has been open for about 2 years now, following a few other places in steelton: casa chica, herbys and nuevo mexico. I went and tried the following items: Tacos al pastor (pork) it was 3 soft tacos with onions & green peppers and pork for 4.50 i also had the tacos canitas (beef) same price and then also had the cubanito, with was breaded ham, salami, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, etc. it cost 6.05 all in all it was a pretty good deal. the soft taco option is awesome, you choose 1 meat and then they cook it up for you, right before your eyes.
there were decorations from mexico, with mexican and aztec themes. there was a tv playing spanish speaking shows and there were all kinds of advertisments with 'se hablo espanol' on them. there were about 6 or 7 tables and lots of room to walk around. the counter is right when you walk in and just behind it is the kitchen. there was a condiment bar where you could choose from pickles, jalapenos, sour cream, guacamole, & a mix of peppers.
there was also a shop in the back that sold all sorts of mexican and latin american groceries, food, household products, fruit, dried peppers, sugar, spanish language dvds & cds, a pretty decent magazine section, clothing, etc. there was a large basket of bananas and avacados in front of the cash register and there was some home made bean soup in a jar near the register.
the staff was very friendly and helpful. accepts visa & mastercard. on a side note: i asked for a menu to take home and the cashier didnt give me one and also the pork did have a little bit of fat on it.
Great authentic Mexican. The best around!
I just ate there again last night for the umpteenth time. I have been purposely making the rounds of the local Mexican restuarants. By Mexican I mean real Mexican - not places that sell tex mex or Americanized junk like Sierra Madre, Casa Chica, etc. I'm talking the little taquerias that are packed with people that speak Spanish and the cilantro is more prevalent than cheese. I am now convinced that this is, by far, the best one in the Central PA area. The hands-down winner. Even better than the taco truck. I heartily bestow this the gold medal.

I'd give it 5 stars but I can't give a small, simple, clean Taqueria 5 stars now can I? I'm tempted though.
