Went to Baltimore for the weekend and stayed at this hotel. We stayed in the studio style suite, which included 2 queen size beds, a kitchen, tv, and a spacious closet. It was just the two of us, but that was the smallest room they had, which to us it's pretty big for just the 2 of us. The closet space was so spacious we could have 2 other people stayed inside. As a matter of fact it seems like they were expecting someone to perhaps sleep inside the closet or something because there were extra blankets and pillow inside the closet.

The beds were ridiculously comfortable! The pillows, blankets and everything about it was so soft and fluffy that we both slept an extra hour than intended. If my bed were like that at home I'll be late for work every day. We ran out of toothpaste, which their deli store did not carry. And all the stores around us were already closed, but luckily at the front desk they gave us toothpaste. On our last day we needed a cab to bring us back to the station, but there weren't any cabs at the time of our departure. The bellhop was nice enough to drive us to the station, but it's the same charge as a cab ride.

The bar area was pretty neat and they are open until 12AM and you can take your drinks out of the bar. There's also jazz nights on the weekends, which we didn't check out. The gym was pretty nice, but haven't used it. The stay at this hotel was really nice and I would come back here. However there wasn't a nice view from our window, so all we saw was a cement wall and the sky.

Did I mention how comfortable the beds were? I secretly wanted to take a pillow home with me, better yet the entire bed!

Ah, I miss the colonial south. Holy eff I can't believe I just said that. The Tremont Hotel is a beautiful beautiful building that reminded me of all the old gorgeous historic sites in Baltimore. I stayed here for a wedding and every common room was more beautiful, elegant, and unique than the last. The rooms themselves were nothing special and are a newer (tackier) addition to the building. The location is great and is the inner harbor is walk-able (um, just don't go alone. unless you really really want a taste of Baltimore).  Would definitely stay here again!

Never have I felt more lavished in opulence as last night during a holiday party at the historic Tremont Grand. I am at a loss for why I am the first person to give the Tremont Grand 5 stars. The venue itself is simply gorgeous and the food and service were tremendous. Every detail is tended to. If you have to plan a holiday party for your company and your company is within 70 miles of Baltimore, I advise you to look into the Tremont Grand.  Hosting an event here is a sure way to impress and ensure the loyalty of even the most curmudgeonly employee.

Our evening started when we pulled up to the Grand and a man in a tophat and a long coat informed us of our valet vs. self parking options.  He was informed and helpful and also made sure that we were at the right place. With the snowfall that evening, the scene was reminiscent of a Christmas Carol.

Marble are the walls and columns of the 20-foot-high ceiling space in the banquet rooms. The ceilings are ornately decorated with gilded details and the rooms are spacious. The event started with an hour long reception in a room with live grand piano playing and a full bar of top shelf liqours. The bartender was willing to mix up anything I asked for, was relaxed and aimed to please. The appetizer table seemed stocked with an endless supply of vegetables and cheeses from around the world.  No shortage of friendly servers offered hors d'oeuvres such as chicken skewers dipped in Indonesian sauce, fancy mushroom tarts and filo-wrapped cheeses.  The spacing was well planned as I never felt crowded and my date could easily spot coworkers he knew around the room.

Next we moved to the event hall, which had a large dance floor, a live band, two bars, and a projector set up for a slide show.  Our dinner started with a salad of fresh mixed greens, herbs and edible flower petals, wrapped neatly for easier handling. For entree, my date and I both got the beef filet with a port demi. The meat had a pink center and while I would have prefered a red center, it was still very good. It came with a large portion of polenta and asparagus.  For dessert, we walked to the dessert table, which had varous cheesecakes and yule logs. I am a harsh critic of most cheesecakes, but the strawberry cheesecake met my expectations. If I were to complain about anything that evening, it would be that there should have been two, instead of one, dessert tables on either side of the room.  The wait in line for the dessert was annoying.

The server unfolded my napkin for me and kept my water refilled. The servers were quick to notice when you were done with your plate and politely removed it.  With my date pulling out my chair for me, the only thing I had to do for myself that evening was put the food in my mouth.

Note: If you feel like indulging your loved one or yourself, the Tremont Grand has an $89 per night special on their hotel rooms through the end of January '09.  The hotel is in a lovely neighborhood of Baltimore, surrounded by historic buildings and nice restaurants and is far from the filming of the Wire.

Okay, long story short - I went to Baltimore b/c my boyfriend wanted to attend the Insubordination Fest.  So, we had to find a place to crash.  I wanted a B&B, the boyfriend opted for something that members of his forum recommended, which was available through http://HOTWIRE.com for a bargain.

For the price that we paid, I was IMPRESSED.  The rooms were clean, had a kitchenette, a nice television, a comfortable bed, a good sized shower and the internet was FREE (wired, not wireless).  Plus, it was only a 5 minute walk to the Inner Harbor and they have a self-park garage RIGHT NEXT DOOR.  Heaven forbid, but if you need it, they are neighboring Mercy Hospital.

The only complaint that I had was that we were RIGHT next to the elevators and I heard the freaking elevators beeping ALL morning and the housekeeping staff in the closet next to our room.

All in all, it was a good deal and I'd recommend it to 1) heavy sleepers who 2) are looking for a bargain.

This is an all-around ok place. The location is great for walking to all of the sights and avoiding the high prices of the Inner Harbor. The rooms have seen better days, but overall it's a decent hotel.  Oddly enough, the gym is excellent for a hotel of its size/status.

I had a wonderful evening last night at the Tremont Grand with a friend.  It was my new company's holiday party, and I must say, they've really managed to make an impression on me.  It was a wonderful evening spent with a fun crowd and one very sweet lady!

At this point you are probably thinking "hey, this is Yelp not some soap opera, get to the good stuff already!"  So without further ado...

Our evening started with an interesting car ride from Alexandria up to Baltimore through a light snowfall.  I say "interesting" because you never quite know how drivers around DC are going to react when the white stuff starts falling.  We really didn't have any problems taking the B/W Parkway north; I figured it would be a safer bet than dealing with the crazies over on I-95.

We arove at the hotel sooner than expected, as my GPS from 2004 seemed to get confused with one of the other Tremont properties in the city.  As soon as we stopped, a dapper gentleman wearing a top hat came over and opened my date's door and explained the valet service to us, which I opted for given the fact that (a) it was snowing, (b) it was a very nice hotel, and (c) my car is worth showing off just a tad.

As we strolled into the magnificent marble-adorned foyer, we were greeted by a bellhop who helped direct us to where we needed to be.  The evening started off in a lovely room filled with the sounds of a baby grand and light fare that included vegetables and dressing, artisanal breads, an assortment of cheeses, papaya cubes, and grapes.  There were also a few plates of appetizers going around, such as chicken skewers in an Indonesian sauce.  There was also an open bar throughout the evening, though I was taking it easy because I was driving.  The dirty martini I started with was really well-made, though I would have preferred a nicer vodka than Absolut for it (not really the venue's fault though as I am sure that was a budget decision).  In fact it is to the bartender's credit for making it delicious notwithstanding.

After about an hour of mingling with my coworkers we were all eschewed into a ballroom nextdoor.  We took our seats and watched an awesome slideshow that highlighted events and happenings over the past year from my company (since I'm new at the company I personally thought that this was a really nice touch).  Our CEO, who is an amazing woman, then gave a wonderful speech to officially start the party.  Our dinners, which we had preselected the week prior, soon followed.

First course was a salad which had some edible flowers mixed in.  I really wish I could describe it better than that, but needless to say it was very good.  Next up were the entrees.  My date and I both had the beef filet with port demi, which I thought was quite good and cut very easily.  The only issue here was that they never asked us how we wanted it cooked; my date said that hers was a little overcooked for her taste, and I generally would have preferred mine a little more bloody as well.  The filet was also served with green beans banded with a carrot strip, polenta, and a rectangular piece of cornbread.  I could have done without, or at least with less, of the cornbread, but the rest was fantastic.

Dessert was buffet-style, as was the coffee and tea.  This is something I think could have been done better as well, as there was a somewhat chaotic line for the dessert table (i.e., there was literally no room for a line, so it just formed between some of the tables).  The desserts themselves were good, though the one that really jumped out at me were the gingerbread cookies with white frosting that made them look more like leftover ghost cookies from Halloween.  But they were still delish!

Our evening continued with a Yankee gift swap in which my date, through our careful strategerizing and cunning, managed to walk away with an iPod shuffle!  We also did a little dancing to the fun band that was playing, and then said our goodbyes and started our journey home to Washington.

Very good hotel group in Baltimore- stayed at the Plaza and our conference was in the Grand- absolutely gorgeous rooms, stunning.  Meals were good for the catered parts, service was decent if a little loud at times while speakers were on..

The hotel itself- deceiving from the taxi at night, looks like a small joint but the elevator goes up 37 floors.  The building used to be all condos so the suites are huge, most of our group had separate bed, bath, kitchen, living and dining rooms. Well accomodated and nice staff for the most part. Comfy beds, smallish TVs but two per room, hmm.

Only downside was the lack of full amenities in the store- I ran out of toothpaste and the store was out, crapola. No shops open nearby after 10pm either. Internet in the rooms is via power over ethernet which was spotty, took ages to to connect, some other guests couldnt get any connections. Wifi only in the lobby.

Overall a really nice place in downtown.

The reasons I am minusing two stars are because they do not accommodate smokers at all and the elevators are SOOOOOO SLOOOOOWWWWW that it takes half an hour just to get out front to FINALLY have a smoke and get shuffled away because you lean your ass on a planter. A half hour is a really long time to wait to get a smoke in when you really want one. And upon checking out, they double charged my credit card and it has not been remedied as of yet, without even a followup call since my call two days ago to have this fixed.

Otherwise, this hotel was fantastic. The rooms were cleaned daily, they even washed our dishes and threw out our millions of beer bottles. They put the cheese in the fridge when we forgot to and we lived to have unfestered cheese another day. The bathroom was large and clean and when we asked for extra towels, they brought tons. The beds were the cushiest I have ever passed drunkenly out in. I'd definitely stay again, but they had better fix this credit card mess. When they do, I might give them that star back.

Update: I've given them back one of their stars for restoring my $200. Thanks, Tremont. I will book there again next MDF.

We booked this place last minute using expedia or one of the other online websites. We were in Baltimore for one night and wanted to stay near mount vernon and Charles Street.

This hotel is fantastic. Each standard room is a suite that is well appointed. TV, internet and all the nice stuff. The staff are nice, but we didn't have to ask them for anything usual.

Definitely recommended if you'd like to stay in town for a reasonable fee and get a large well set up room.

This hotel (yes, it is called Tremont Plaza) would have definitely earned two more stars were it not for the lousy service and food we got at Tugs--their restaurant/bar.  The service was so bad that if the hotel hadn't been so nice I would have knocked it down another star.  Husband and I stayed there using a gift certificate we acquired from an on-line auction for the Maryland SPCA.  We paid a reasonable price for the certificate and were completely satisfied with our suite.  I think the room value was much greater than we paid.  Well, perhaps the mattress could have been a little firmer... but everything else about the hotel room was nice.  It's great to have room to move around in a hotel.  This one was clean and I think if we had stayed more than one night we would have enjoyed the little mini-kitchen.
We were dropped off, so didn't have to hassle with valet parking, so we decided to eat breakfast on the site.  It was a disaster.  The service was slow, the waiters weren't sure who was waiting on which table and would either not come and check on us or come and ask the same thing twice.  A breakfast that should have taken 30 minutes max, took an hour and a half.   As a native Marylander loving all thing crab, I ordered the crab burrito.  Menu said, " your choice of meat" and listed choices stating that crab cost extra.  So I ordered the crab.  Who knew it would be stuffed with yukky old sausage?  So I picked out the sausage and ate most of.  Husband ordered oatmeal, had to beg for milk,  and the check... you get the picture.  The only bright spot was that when the check came from one of the servers who didn't know what they were doing, they completely undercharged us.  The bill said sausage burrito instead of crab and they didn't charge for our drinks.   I usually speak up if service is good and something like that happens, but not today!  Stupidity deserves its rewards.
The hotel is nice though--just don't eat there.

The real name of this restaurant is the Tremont Plaza. It's connected to the Tremont Grand, a conference center, by a pedestrian bridge. Since the two facilities are on a hill, things get a little confusing. The fifth floor of the hotel connects to the second floor of the conference center.

I travel a lot, and I love suite hotels. The rooms are generally large, there's a kitchenette, and there's a living-room area with a couch, all somewhat separated from the bedroom. With a little fridge and a microwave in the kitchenette, you can stock up at a grocery store and avoid some high-priced restaurant meals. Some suite hotels also have small 2-burner ranges, but not this one, alas.

The staff here is terrific. I got really sick, and they were willing to send someone to the Walgreens a couple of blocks away to get a couple of things that I needed. (The person who did that for me earned a very large tip.) In addition, the housekeeping staff understood that I didn't want them to come in to clean, and they left new towels and other supplies in a bag hanging on the door.

The room rates were quite reasonable: about $139/night including free wired high-speed internet in the rooms and wireless in the lobby and conference center.

The hotel restaurant, Tugs, is nothing to write home about, but there's a little take-out deli at street level that will help you stock your kitchenette.
