Tree House For Kids
4 reviews for Tree House For Kids
I started shopping here when my oldest was a baby - 11 years ago! And I've kept coming back. With three kids that are ALWAYS growing it's easy to blow my whole budget on clothes but the Tree House helps me keep it under control.
On our last trip we found tween approved t-shirts for the oldest, shorts and girly shirts for the 7 year old, and leggings and t-shirts for the 5 year old. All for under $40!
It's been a long time since I've sold here, but I'm always ready to shop!
Park in the main parking lot by the Staples and QFC then walk over, their little parking lot is awkward, especially for those of us driving the LARGE mommymobiles!
When I went in, I didn't find much in the 2T/3T for boys. In general, there seemed to be quite a bit of 0-18 clothing but beyond that it was very hit-and-miss.
The atmosphere was also a little warehouse-like in a way that didn't work for me. A lot of florescent lighting and things were sectioned off a bit strangely. It was hard to see my toddler in the play area. The play area largely consisted of those full-size preschool ride-on cars; another family came in and the kids started playing a bit rough with them. No, it's not Tree House's fault for random people's kid's behaviour-- but the thing is that some kids will inevitably do that, so do we want to give them large cars to do it with? Maybe a play area that is more centrally visible and contains more supervisable toys might keep me in the store for longer.
The staff seemed pleasant and I was also impressed that they had a "safe place" poster up for families leaving DV situations. Definitely an extra star for that.
As 1 first time mom, I frequent Tree House at least 2x a month. Have picked up toys that I wouldn't have otherwise known would be a favorite. ANd even if they don't become so, things are well over half off that once you resell it there, you may only be out a few bucks.
For clothes, now that we are in 2T, the selection is less. 0-6months is practically new, full spectrum of brands. I haven't been as thrilled about selling b/c if something doesn't sell, it gets donated. Since the prices are low as a buyer don't expect much as a seller.
Like "Buffalo Exchange" for wee ones.
Perfect place for when your two year-old outgrows her 2Ts and is marching into her 3Ts and beyond, this is a good place to consign clothes for cash or credit to buy her "new-to-you" clothes. I believe they carry merchandise for babies through early elementary schoolers. They also had some ballet attire and girl scouts or camp fire items as well as accessories like rubber boots and umbrellas.
There are generally the nicer brands of clothing here and branded items (Barbie, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder, etc.) Generally, the clothes are clean and prices are good. As with any second-hand clothing retailer, be sure to check zippers, seams, fasteners, etc. and give the article a once over for weird stains to make sure the bargain price isn't masking a flaw. Generally, from my experience, you usually don't find problems like this at Tree House.
Just keep in mind you're not going to get rich consigning kids' clothes, but when you can recoup some money on the clothes they've outgrown, it definately helps the budget as the kids get bigger.
A couple stars were taken off for being a little hard to find the first time, parking can be an issue at times, the store is a bit cramped when busy, and the hours are sometimes awkward (I think closed on Sundays, perhaps? Call ahead before you travel out there). Also, they only take certain types of clothing at certain times of the year.
