Traverso exceeded our expectations with professional, efficient, fast, friendly, responsive service and great clean up...all at a great price.
We're revitalizing our landscape from 45+ years of neglect by previous owners. Traverso trimmed a huge liquid amber, counseled us on the status of our trees so that we could make an informed decision about what to get rid of, removed several trees and many more stumps. They even were quick to come back and remove a couple of stumps that were hiding in the ivy that they missed the first time -- and hauled off a previously removed giant stump that we weren't sure how we were going to get rid of.
I also found out they deliver free wood chips for mulch.
Our friends and neighbors can't believe how different our house looks with the old overgrowth gone. Now we are looking forward to filling in the bare spots with new trees and plantings. We've still got an Oak, a couple of Liquid Ambers and some other trees that I'm sure will need attention again at some point and Traverso will be our first call.Listed in: Project House

The only thing I can say against these folks is the price: not cheap. But you can't scrimp when it comes to tree surgery. Would you go to a discount vet, a discount dentist? No way!
Having got that off my chest, let me say how much I appreciate the customer service, the on-time appointments, clean, efficient workers, and generally no-nonsense vibe to their whole operation. They have worked on several of our trees, including a chronically ill Chinese Elm.
You probably don't need to call these guys very often, but when you do, their work is fab. Give them your business! -

Traverso Tree Service did an excellent job. We had a huge pine tree on the side of a hill and the crew removed the tree quickly and cleaned up so the yard looked better than ever. I was worried that there could be damage to my plants under the tree, but nothing was disturbed. The quote was done timely, the work scheduled within 2 weeks and done exactly as stated. We checked out a few places and I believe the price was within the range of other companies - not overpriced at all.
Excellent service, friendly crew, professional, on time and will definately refer them to our friends! -

Traverso removed a really big pine tree from our property. We had a few companies come out to give us bids, and while Traverso wasn't the cheapest, it wasn't the most expensive by far. We were really impressed by their professionalism, and the fact that they didn't throw tons of unnecessary and expensive equipment into the mix. It took a surprisingly short amount of time for them to remove the tree, and they left our yard cleaner than they found it.

Traverso was recommended on Angie's List and we found them to be highly professional and competent. We needed a big spruce tree removed to make way for some expansion of our foundation. I was concerned about its proximity to other large trees and the fact that it overhung our house and was wedged between us and the neighbor's garage. If that wasn't enough to worry about, the steep, narrow stairs to the back were the only source of access.
We weren't able to get home in time for the start of the job and by the time we arrived, it was complete. No mess, no damage, no problem. They were gone and it was like the tree had never been there. We got a call the next day asking if we were satisfied but he bill didn't arrive for three weeks. These guys are wonderful. -

They came by today... and I was impressed by their professionalism, knowledge, and most of all, their honesty.
I have several huge oaks behind my house leading down a steep ravine. The one closest to my deck seemed increasingly to be leaning to one side and had begun to first abrade, and finally break the railing on the deck. I thought the tree might be in danger of falling, so on a friend's recommendation I called these guys.
The bottom line for my huge oak is excellent news. The tree is completely healthy and the movement into the railing of the deck was not caused by the tree sagging, but by the natural growth in girth of the tree (3+ foot diameter). He found the root system to be strong and well placed, and his only recommendation was to clear out the duff at its base every year instead of the every 2-3 years I've been doing.
The guy who examined the tree had a chance to sell lots of work to me ranging from cabling the tree to one its mates, building a steel on concrete support for it, radical limb surgery to reduce the weight pulling it to the side, etc., etc.. Instead, he recommended doing nothing- not even trimming. In these times when the economic downturn effects every business, I am so grateful to find honesty and professionalism.
This is a really trustworthy outfit! -

The service was excellent. Scheduling the estimate was easy and the work was done quickly and thoroughly. Had three bids and theirs was the lowest.
Even more important was the manner they handled an issue that arose during a subsequent service. Once notified of the issue, they were exceptionally resposive and accomodating. They showed a true dedication to customer service and I will not bother shopping elsewhere. -

First time with Traverso and I was very, very impressed.
Two huge Camphor trees needed serious work, and a Liquid Amber required pruning. Scott, a true professional, advised me that the Camphors were not worth wasting money on (I thought that would be the case) and advised me to have them removed and a Japanese Maple planted in their place, to provide shade, which was very sound advice, especially as there was very little difference in the cost.
The team arrived on time, did a really professional job, cleared up afterwards, were extremely polite - especially to my neighbor whose garden they had to access.
I will DEFINITELY use Traverso Tree Service again later this year for much needed work on my Silver Birch trees.

My husband and I recently bought a home in Berkeley that has a fairly wide variety of trees on the property. Unfortunately, the previous owners did not make tree care a priority and, thus, many of the trees were dead or dying, had been topped, or never pruned at all. We felt that our property had so much potential but were overwhelmed by the trees in various stages of health.
Steve came out and spent nearly an hour with my husband and me (free of charge!) educating us on the types of trees we had. At a glance, he could give us a pruning history of the tree and tell us why certain fruit trees were not producing fruit. He told us which trees were worth preserving and which were not. And he even gave us tips on how to prune trees ourselves, should we choose to be so daring! And most practically, he took into consideration our budget and helped us prioritize certain tree services over others.
In the end, we had many ugly, unhealthy trees and shrubs removed, and had a few large trees (including our persimmon tree) beautifully pruned. My toddler son and I watched much of the work being done and I was quite impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the crew. Not only did they arrive promptly and do the work within the estimated amount of time, but the cleanup was fantastic.
At last, light is streaming through the trees into our backyard and we have a wonderful array of trees that are not only healthier, but prettier as well. All this, for a very reasonable price, that will pay dividends in the years to come. -

This is a simply wonderful company! I have used them three times, and they will always be my "go to" tree trimming company. Scott is professional and prompt, and the lady who answers the phone in the office is always congenial and efficient. The work crew worked hard and did a great job of artistically pruning my Japanese maple. After they left, I noticed that a sprinkler head which was hidden in the ivy had been broken off. When I called the office, they said, no problem, we will send our maintenance guy right out. He came the next day and repaired the sprinkler.
Professional, efficient, timely, hardworking and friendly are all adjectives to describe this great family owned company. -

My neighbor had this company prune their trees a few days ago.
To my surprise, I found one of their workers standing on top of my garage roof to help lower a branch that was being cut at my neighbor's.

Scott Foster, the estimator was efficient and knew his stuff. Raphael the foreman was congenial, knowledgeable, and also very efficient. They arrived the day they promised, at the time they promised, and did the work they promised! All this during the worst rain/wind storm the Bay Area has seen in years! They cleaned up all the debris and even placed the furniture back in place on the patio. I would highly recommend them as a reliable and professional arborist company.
Note: I used to be in this business 30 years ago on the East Coast, so it was good to see the professionalism being maintained! Kudos! -

I'm the neighbor of the client who hired Traverso. They showed up when they said they would. Used my driveway to access my neighbor's trees, did minimal damage to other plants. Cleaned up whey they were done and assisted me by cutting the rounds for splitting and cutting. These guys are hard workers. I will use them for my trees when the time comes.
