Really good Italian food!!! I've been for both lunches and dinners and had a pretty good dining experience every time. One time they screwed up a couple of things, but they gave it to us for free to make up for it, which is fine by me, and it hasn't happened since.

The wait staff even fake italian accents for the customers (some are real probably).

Nothing spoils my appetite more than being made to feel that I'm not good enough to eat at a particular restaurant, which is how they make you feel at Trattoria Girasole.

My girlfriend and I were seated and it took, literally, about 20 minutes to even be greeted. Eventually a conscientious busboy, who saw us sitting there, came over and asked us if we'd been helped. He set us up with bread and olive oil and said he'd get us some help.

Kudos to him, but our server still didn't come over. Finally a manager overheard us bitching and got our server for us. Then they acted as though we'd already been helped, rather than introducing themselves or apologizing, they came over and just asked if we were ready to order. Wow, what service. And it wasn't just us. Everybody in our section was complaining--the table next to us even got their desert comped.

That said, the food was good, but I don't give a crap if you're dishing out free fillet Mignon (BTW, their prices are FAR AWAY from free), if you treat me like crap I'm not coming back.

So, I haven't been back--and I won't. I've spoken to other people who've had the same experience. In fact, I've never heard anyone say anything nice about the service here. Even one of the local newspapers gave it a scathing review for its service.

This cute little Italian bistro on the east end of Pearl Street, would make a great place for a date! Huge windows and a cozy patio overlook Pearl's beautiful flowerbeds.  The inside is bright and cheery with intimate seating.

The food is flavorful and the portions generous. Occasionally the food is too salty, but there is a nice wine list to choose from to quench your thirst. My main critique is that its kind of expensive for Italian food. $13 for Penne Pesto seems steep to me.

The place, as you may have gathered, is small, so you'll probably notice it right away, but there's a tiny room off to the right with a tiny bar. It's kind of fun over there... like a mini restaurant all to yourself. =)
