Swooped over to this restaurant when the Bulldog wait for a table was over an hour (for tots, seriously?). This did require a switch in thinking/food-drink anticipation for the night, but we were not all that disappointed. The place is actually quite small, small enough that we ended up having to wait for a table anyway...while we were seated, the place emptied out rapidly, so my advice would be to go after 8:30 if you don't want to wait.
Food is fair. We all had salads, and liked them (caesar, caprese, and the very yummy Lattughino, which is chopped romaine, tomatoes, and olive tapenade in a feta dressing). We all pretty much gorged on their pasta dishes, and found them fair. The sauces are a bit...dense, if that's a way to put it...yet still flavorful and complementary to the pasta (mostly ravioli). They also list a dish on the menu called "The Pasta Experience" which had me giggling...but no one appeared to be high postprandially, so I guess it was just food.
Big highlight of my experience was the dude with an electric guitar AND cheesy back-up music, warbling away at a funked-out rendition of "Hotel California." Loves.
I took my family to this place for my wife's birthday last year and it's not an experience I care to repeat. I could not believe other website rate this place 5 stars. When we were there, the chef clearly was not into cooking. Our pasta was running with olive oil and lack of taste. The pizza for the kids was not good either. The food is pricy and the bathroom for the restaurant is (far away) in a different floor of the building. "Avoid it" at all cost.
Great Italian place, decked out in (what else) Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings and inventions. Pasta dishes are very good, I'm a big fan of the aurora pasta. The chef's handmade gnocchi is the real star here though. Taste this and nothing else compares- the little bundles of potato goodness just melt in your mouth.
