Regardless of how you feel about Trader Joe's the chain, this particular location is very well managed. There are always enough cashiers and everyone is friendly. They've expanded this store's footprint so it is really easy to navigate.

The one I go to in Philadelphia is always packed, albeit full of attractive hipster girls, and they are sold out of stuff all the time. It is just too crowded and busy to enjoy shopping there, so I prefer the Wilmington branch even though it is in a strip mall.

This is my favorite Trader Joe's location! There is so much parking and it's pretty spacious inside. It is always pretty stocked, the Philadelphia store is often out of some of my favorite things. The staff here is SUPER nice, checking to make sure I found everything, carrying my basket to a newly opened checkout lane, and chatting with me about what I am buying. Also, I usually think that Trader Joe's produce section is a total joke, but this one seems a little larger and fresher than some others.

If I could marry three stores, they would be (in no particular order): Blick Art Materials, Apple and Trader Joe's. Blick for creativity, Apple for music and technology, and Trader Joe's cause fatty likes to EAT!

Now, I recognize I'm biased when I give this store 3 stars because I come from the land of In-N-Out Burger, but I just couldn't honor this TJ's with all 5 stars like I normally would with its west coast counterparts. The produce section was minimal at best, and there were horrible selections of salsa and guacamole. And we all know I base life off selections of salsa and guacamole. The only kind they had came in a plastic bag. Gross.

Everything else seemed like a good selection (except for Clif bars... not the widest range of choices). And in the corner stand where they usually have free food, they were making latkes.

Shalom!

TJ, I love you, a bushel and a peck, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck!

Now please set up a shop in Texas!

I would like to say that it is possible to really dislike NPR and love Trader Joe's.  I will also say that I was introduced to TJ's by someone who loves NPR.

Trader Joe's is awesome.  They are my favorite grocery store anywhere (I'd happily take them over the local choices Giant, Acme and national chains like Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Wegman's and specialty organic stores) and I love shopping here.

TJ's has really good stuff really, really cheap.  The tempeh, soy milk, tofu, and cereal (among so many other things) are super cheap.  Everything they sell is actually good food.  They have really great unique items (I love the frozen veggie combinations, pastas and frozen herbs!) and all sorts of great staple foods.

TJ's are small stores, usually 6-8 aisles in my experience.  They do not carry national brand stuff (you will not find Campbell's soup here thankfully) so it's not the best place to find household type stuff you'd get a regular grocery store.

The only thing I don't love about TJ's is that sometimes they will stop carrying certain things after you've fallen in love with them.  This is usually OK because you will find you're also in love with whatever is next to it on the shelf.

Can't ever go wrong shopping at Trader Joe's.  TJ's is fairly new to the east coast, and I think there's a common misconception that it's a pricey specialty-item gourmet store.  Not true.

While they do have some exciting and unique items, you can also get your staples there, too:  milk, eggs, cheese (oh, the cheeses!), meats, TP for your bunghole, dog food, whatever.   The prices are usually cheaper than regular grocery stores, and the foods are often organic, healthy, and made with no hydrogenated oils.   Why would you shop anywhere else?

If you're a cheese fan, definitely check out their selection of cheeses, especially their varieties of Brie.

Their frozen foods can't be beat and of such a high quality that you'll wonder why you've been eating Stouffer's.  Good heavens, cut that out!

Be sure to pick up their "Fearless Flyer" which is a snarky booklet highlighting some of their items.  It's a fun read, and it'll teach you a thing or two about food and how it's sourced.

Their staff is always friendly and knowledgeable; doesn't hurt that many are cute, too.  (Did I just type that?)

I try to avoid TJ's on Saturdays, only because it's a smaller store and the place is crowded.  But if you don't mind crowds, then knock yourself out.  Monday night is my night; fewer people, and freshly-stocked shelves.

If you've got any hippie in your lineage, or if you're an NPR listener, you should be shopping at Trader Joe's.  'nuff said.

For a small grocery store, Trader Joe's offers a surprisingly wide array of items, many at excellent prices. The tropical theme and cutesy product names are charming at first, but that wears off. Lines at the checkout are occasionally long, which is probably just because many people like the store!

I've recently bought several of Trader Joe's baked goods (rolls, naan, etc.) for the first time, and they were surprisingly good. Overall, I recommend shopping here; it doesn't fully take the place of full-size supermarkets, but it's a great supplement to them.

I am a complete Trader Joes fan. In fact I used to live in Chicago, where we had 2 or 3 within an hr drive. Spoiled, I know. Now I need to drive an hr and a half. And I did. And I still love TJs. They are unbeatable for gluten free stuff, frozen stuff, everything. and their soy ice cream is the Yum.

However. If you want something specific, and you call first to make sure they have it, get the name of the person that you talked to that assured you it would be there, just in case it isn't there. We did not get a name, and had to leave without our Case Of Chocolate Soymilk.

I hope to revise this up to a normal 4 or 5 stars, as they are my fave, on the next visit.
