Simi Valley, CA
The Simi Trader Joes rocks! The best and most helpful knowledgeable staff around. If your looking for a certain item and don't see it on the shelves don't be afraid to ask. They'll check the back. More than once has this worked out for me.
Big special shout outs for Tony, Tim, Jordan,Chris, and Kim. -

I'll second or fifth that the staff rocks here. Super duper.
The products, or a few of my favorite things (no dog bites): peanut butter filled pretzels, 3 layer hummus which is one layer of plain, one of cilantro and one of a spicy hummus, pirate's booty, the entire dessert case (who are we kidding), the salads, the cheeses, produce, wine, and of course those little fruit leathers. And the 1/2 salt almonds, yum! There is usually some kind of fun sample in the back too.
I should go there sometime this weekend..... -

Very clean, good selection, great parking. Only problem: DO NOT GO HERE WHEN YOU ARE HUNGRY! You will keep buying EVERYTHING cause they all look so darn good. They're not the cheapest supermarket but not bad :P. And they have items that other supermarkets don't have. Staff is friendly, but never once has a staff member been able to answer any of my food related questions... (like, what is this? and where can I find this? do you have this? etc)

All Trader Joe's have great customer service, but this one for some reason is just that much better. Super friendly staff here.
There isn't anything to say about the store as a whole that hasn't been said. So I will just leave it at that. -

I LOVE Trader Joe's. I swear, I could live on only things bought here and be a happy, happy woman.
I frequent TJ's at most five times a week, at least once a week, in various cities across L. A.
Whether its the ingredients for a family meal you're shopping for, or just picking up a quick bite for lunch, you'll find something fresh, delicious, (relatively) healthy, amazing, and unique to satisfy your need.
My staples from Trader Joe's are the fresh salad fixings (bagged organic baby spinach, organic baby lettuce, organic tomatoes, organic baby carrots, English cucumber, etc.), ready-to-eat meats to go on the salads, their pre-fixed salads (the Reduced Guilt Asian Chicken is my fav!), their multi-grain fiber bread, their natural peanut butter, their reduced-sugar strawberry jelly, their Fiberful fruit leather, their vast selection of nuts and dried fruit, their flat pretzels to dip in hummus, their garlic hummus, their Greek yogurt, their lime bubble water (AKA TJ's Sparkling Mineral Water), their sugar-free chocolate bars, the Reggiano Lambrusco sweet red wine, the rest of their organic produce... okay now I'm just going up and down the aisles in my head. You get the point - I love their products.
The employees are always awesome and helpful no matter the location, and make the shopping experience that much better. The prices for produce can add up quickly, but you'll feel better because it's quality fruits & veggies. For the other stuff, prices are reasonable, if not inexpensive, especially compared to Whole Foods and the like.
If you need me, I'll be at Trader Joe's. -

They're always helpful here, the check out line is a little annoying if you're like me and rarely use a basket, but there are samples every day, the cashiers are super friendly an helpful and a lot of the prices are better than at other stores.
More than once I've picked out bruised produce and they noticed at check out and switched it out for me instantly. -

Practically my one-stop-shop. Trader Joe's is the best! Best products, best quality, best pricing, best staff & super clean. Over the years my cooking/menu selections revolve around their products.
This location has a very cozy & personal atmosphere. Everyone knows you & you know them. Keep up the great work! -

Although smaller than other TJ's I've been to, this place is the best! Charmingly small and full of fresh foods, it is irresistible to stop by every chance I get.
The staff is SUPER. I opened a can of one of their tins of whole bean coffee and then realized it was a little stale, and the guy said no problem and let me pick another!
Friendly cashiers and an overall fantastic vibe! -

Been here a handful of times and every single time I've went there has been nice workers, and even when the lines are long (after work hours) they are quick.
I buy their Egg whites, and Bob's Ground Flaxseed cuz it's cheaper here than other stores. -

When gas was almost 5 dollars a gallon, we all were really struggling to make ends meet. What did the grocery stores do, almost in concert? Raise their prices and justify doing so. All but one, Trader Joe's! If it wasn't for this place, my struggle to make ends meet would have been a nightmare. Their food prices stabilized, and in comparison to Albertson's, Von's, and Ralph's, were a far better deal. This was a godsend to me and mine! Where else can you get 5 to 7 full bags of groceries for less than 200 dollars? I can talk about their amazing variety, or their incredibly helpful staff, or the fact that I cannot do without some of their items, I just want to thank them for not taking advantage of a dyer economic situation for their own financial gain at the expense of their customers

It's always a pleasure shopping at Trader Joe's, the staff are helpful and friendly.
I shop here so often that I could probably find anything blindfolded.
I'm not a vegetarian (anymore) but if I was this would be the place to be.
A great selection of cheap unknown European beers, just because you haven't heard of it, it doesn't mean it's no good.
Think indie bands of beers.
Oranjeboom is awesome, likewise the Henniger and Bitburger give them a try and while you're at it try listening to The Wedding Present, their new album El Rey is in the shops now.
They have decent selection of ethnic foods, my favourites are the frozen Garlic naan bread and the Chicken Vindaloo.
Also look out for the Scottie dog licorice located above the freezer section, yum.
Another thing about shopping here is that no matter how much I purchase, I am always pleasently surprised by the bill total.
Also a big shout out to the bottles of two buck chuck.
I only wish that Target shoppers would stop parking outside TJ's and stealing all the spaces. -

I just need to give a shout out to my local Trader Joe's in Simi Valley. Now that I have a few I can compare it to. I love my Trader's mainly because of the staff. All young guys and gals with smiles on their faces always willing to help out with suggestions or to just talk about the weather at the check out stand. Other Trader's, sure they are nice, but not like the crew in Simi!
Trader's makes me smile. I love the food it offers. Tortellini at the grocery store can run you $4 to $5 when Trader's has it for $1.99!!! They have a great cheese selection as well as meat. I LOVE LOVE LOVE their pre-made salads that I stock up on for my lunches. Have ya looked at their spices.. CHEAP and good stuff! Oh and what about their canned artichoke hearts.. bet ya didn't know they had that? And cheap... again $1.99 a can.. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT!!! Oh hell I could go on and on and on here.....
And last but not least, the wine isle... HELLO there is nothing better!! So many selections for half the price..
Sigh........... I just love my Trader's!!!Listed in: My Neighborhood

Thank Jeepus that I have a motorcycle. I'd blow more money than I'd care to admit. I can only carry how much food my motorcycle will carry, which is not much.
I only wish that there was one within walking distance to my home. I'd gain so much weight from their damn snack aisle.
Trader Jose, te quiero. -

5 stars for SUPER friendly and courteous SERVICE, especially at this location.
5 stars for the GREAT prices and all the different goodies they sell.
5 stars for never having to stay in loooong lines and always having good parking(@ this location).
5 stars for:
- RUFFLED VEGGIE CHIPS($1.99)----the "crack" of all healthy chips.
- Hummus dip- quartet($4.99)----all flavors are YUM, especially the garlic and tomato basil.
- Thin crust spicy spinach pizza($3.79): healthy good.
- Rice & Bean chips($2.29): yummmy!
+ all their dips are pretty good.
oh man, the list goes on and onnnnn. TJ is my favorite market to go to when I'm in *Healthy Living* mode. The prices are so good there that I like playing "hit or miss" w/ all the different goodies they sell there. Luckily, my choices have been more 'hits' than 'misses'. yay and yum! -
Review from Sunny R.
My favorite store! Not only are the staff actually happy (not "fake" happy) and helpful, and even act happy to see you, the food selection is fantastic! The fresh flowers are the best quality for the money. The wine and beer section is always boasting cool new brands that I haven't even seen at Bev Mo. The meat and cheese section is packed with so many great items it's hard to narrow my picks.
This is a fantastic store!Listed in: Born to Shop

Great service at every Trader Joe's, but especially this one in Simi Valley. Every time I go there the cashier is having a very pleasant conversation with me.
Love their cereal (maple pecan and Trek Mix), cold cuts, cheeses, wines, pastas and pasta saucs, the list goes on and on.
Favorites in the Freezer Section: Frozen Shrimp, Fish Nuggets, Gnocchi with Alfredo Sauce, Frozen Fruits.
Their produce is always top-notch!
The Trader Joes in Woodland Hills near my work is also wonderful and I go there frequently for lunch. -

Simi Valley, CA
I happen to like this TJ's the best...not even sure why. What all stores boast is that the prices can't be beat. They have interesting, if not exotic items to buy, and the quality of food is much better than any chain grocery store. (I am somewhat cautious about their salad stuff, however.) I always feel much healthier for what I buy from them, whether it's the organic chicken, antibiotic and hormone free eggs, nonfat milk, fruits, vegies, salad dressings, canned items, chocolate chips, even facial tissues, etc etc etc. They offer a great selection of organic items, and their wine collection is very reasonably priced.....although one needs to be selective on what's good or not. "Two Buck Chuck" has become a household name. Over the years, I've switched my eating habits, and this store caters to it all. The employees are always willing to help find whatever I can't......and the cashiers are always quite cheerful (and even funny) at the checkout, as well. Lines can be long, but those cashiers move fast.

Traders has good stuff. My favorite things here are too long to list, but here's a few: the freshest OJ ever, the marinated meat, and the Volcano Super Dark coffee.
Lines can get long, and parking can be packed, I think I've actually circled for 5 min. or so before I could find a spot. -

Aptos, CA
I've been a shopper at Trader Joes for over 22 years. When I lived near Culver City, it was a cool place to pickup trail mixes and juices, but when I moved to SImi Valley in 2001, it was my closest grocery store and has been my main store ever since.
The thing I love about Trader Joes is it's honest pricing, everything costs about half of what it does at a regular grocery store. The only things I don't like are 3 things:
1: If I really like something, they discontinue it, so it seems to work when we really really like something, we say how awful it is and how we would never buy it again. (Althought their paper shopping bags have handles, I believe they are really market research devices that bug our home and I am convinced they are crosswired, so far our conspiracy theory is working as most items we say we hate, do not get discontinued)
2. The crew is obsessive-compulsive and rearranges the store every couple of weeks. in case you get used to where it is located. For the kids, they have a game where you can "Find Coconut Joe" where they hide a coconut with a face on it in some obscure place. I think its great they teach the youngsters valueable lessons life, so when they get older, they can play the game I get to play, called "Find the Garlic and Cheese Croutons" which is also hidden in obscure places throughout the store.
3. They sometimes get caught up in the "We have to be like Whole Foods" identity crisis. 10 years ago, every other thing in the store was made out of hemp. Hemp soap, Hemp cereal, Hemp tomatoes,.... the list goes on. Today it's organics, though they are not as outrageous as other stores and no where as pretentious. I always thought they should put the word "Ass" in front of the Whole Foods sign, it would be far more descriptive.
Besides that, they are great for all types of food choices. I recently became a vegetarian and have other special diet issues and I can buy just about everything I need at TJs. The only thing I can't really get is fake bacon (which I still think should be called "Facon") and a decent fake sausage, but there are plenty of other vegetarian meals and snacks avaliable.
The only other thing is to watch expiration dates carefully, they avoid perservatives and so I found breads and dairy productts do not have the usual shelf life you would expect. They have a no hassle return policy, but its still a hassle to lug the stuff back. I recommend checking the dairy aisle for the latest dates, milk can have dates 2 to 4 days difference from one shelf to another. Also check all around fruit and vegtable packages for mold. I am sure it's not intentional, but defects are usually against the backings, so check carefully.
Wines are great, but I am not going to tout Charles Schwab/2 buck chuck like everyone else -- its swill, but Tres Pinos is a great bargain at $4.99. Also the beer selection is not that hot, BevMo and Pavillions are better as TJs selection is limited and nothing is chilled, but cheeses are awesome, coffees are awesome and the staff is awesome (Only the sample guy freaks me out a little).
Anyway, a terrific store and a great addition to the neighborhood. -

Always a swift checkout. Happy, friendly, helpful employees. Great prices. What more can you ask for, really?

WARNING: you will go in here for one or two items and will always walk out with more than you had originally planned on buying. Almost everything here is very well priced for what you get. No matter how many times you shop here, there's always new stuff to try. If you need ideas for a recipe, go to the back for the free samples! All of the staff is friendly and more than willing to advise you on product selections. I shop here enough to know what the bell singals mean. Be sure to pick up some 2 buck chuck while you're there. It really is good.

Where do i begin? This is my favorite grocery store. It is just big enough for you to find what you need and small enough so your kids can run around and not get lost. I always taste what they're sampling and have bought what they're cooking half the time. And when my kid goes they give her cookies they keep in the back... yum kitty cookies. The customer service is unparrelle. You are never kept waiting too long and the stickers and ballons are a great touch. The flowers are so well priced and beautiful, i coud go on and on about this place. The thing with trader joes is the food is either great or gross, there really isn't an in between. The eggs are the best price here too, and organic to boot. I love trader joes.

In my earlier review, I mentioned that some items aren't always available - well, guess what just popped up on the TJ shelves? Powdered sugar! Yay! Now, if only they would increase the variety of spices & seasonings offered (fingers wishfully crossed). :)
