TJs, I love you. If you were a guy, I would gladly give up half of my apartment so that you could move in and I wouldn't even hound you about picking up your dirty socks.
The pros: there are quite a few great gluten-free options here and they're way cheaper than the fare at Whole Foods. On the list of my normal grocery run: GF brown rice wraps (they hold together without crumbling), tomato soup in a carton, salsa, corn chips, frozen french green beans, frozen roasted corn, chocolate yogurt (not frozen), alfalfa sprouts, Applegate Farms lunch meat, frozen salmon/mahi mahi/tuna steaks, etc., and.....Newton's Folly Green Apple Cider, which is gluten free, not too sweet, and priced right!
Cons: the cheese seems to get moldy quicker than most other cheese purchases from different stores. The lines and tininess of the store just make it hectic. What's up, scary old Russian ladies? Why must you stand on one side of the aisle and reach all the way across it to get what you need? And don't scowl at me because I walk through your arm. Though, in fairness, I can't ever go at "off times" since I work 9-6 and shop after work or on weekends like the rest of Brookline.
One of my favorite food chain's. They have food products that no one else seems to have. Very very unique, and good!
The location is convenient. I am partial because its close to where I live, but in reality its right across Green (C) line Coolige Corner station, and there is a parking lot in the back. Prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and checkout is very fast.
A solid location, easy to get to by car, train or bus, and filled with the expected magnificence of any Trader Joes.
I'll never understand how this store makes money, as you're consistently paying 10 ot 20% less than you would expect to on everything, but it matters not. Just keep going there and giving them your business. Smile at the cashiers after they smile at you. And be thankful for grocery glory.
OK they DO have corn tortillas. I was definitely looking int the wrong place.
For future reference, look near the ready-made food items for corn tortillas.

Best Avocados EVER.
I got some organic hass avocados recently from this Trader Joes, and I literally… Read more »
This is "Dream come true".
One on Memorial Dr - Too out of my way, out of MBTA vicinity
One in Back Bay - in MBTA vicinity but doesn't carry wine.
Coolige Corner location - In MBTA vicinity AND carries wines.
Therefore I can spontaneously come here and buy $36 a case cheap ass wine, cheap oranges, cheap limes and cheap lemons to make a tank of sangria.
I can be a party hero again.
Thank you, Coolige TJ. I am in love with thou.....
I love this Trader Joe's!
- There is sufficient parking, which is so rare in this city.
- It has a great wine selection so you don't have to make a separate trip to the liquor store.
- The staff is very nice, although they are very weird about showing ID. If you even talk to anyone else in line they will ask to see their ID when you buy booze.
When I was vegetarian, I used to come here all the time for their pre-made meals, too. They have a huge selection of delicious vegetarian food, and the prices can't be beat. You never get bored looking at all the cool food options. I just wish it was closer to my apartment!
I never shop here for food anymore, but their selection and prices for wine simply cannot be beat.
Most of their foods are prepackaged, which I dislike as somebody who cooks everything from scratch. If you are more of a microwave-and-go type person, you will probably love Trader Joe's.
That said, their Soy Creamy Black Cherry Chocolate Chip Frozen Dessert is the best vegan ice cream I have ever eaten, and I will go out of my way to pick it up when I'm craving something sweet. It is creamy like non-vegan ice cream, has a delicious flavor, crunchy chocolate chip pieces, and cherries.
The wine selection is superb and you can find anything in any price range. They even have a small selection of sake, sparkling wine, etc. One of the best things about their cheap wine is how good it is to cook with, it tends to be cheaper than buying actual cooking wine, and tastes just as good (if not better).
I'll be honest, I have a love-hate relationship with this place. I love the food, wine, and beer, but I can not stand my fellow patrons. Everyone walks around like a zombie in the cramped aisles, carts banging into people and carts alike, and very rarely do I get an "excuse me," a nod, a "thank you," or even a "sorry." The produce/meat/cheese area is like watching seagulls at the dump. You know what I'm talking about. I'm sorry if you're offended, please don't take it personally. It's probably not you. You're probably one of the smiley/courteous people in there, being the good Yelper that you are.
Anyway, it's always packed, and I don't even bother driving over anymore because the parking lot is a disaster area. There's a cop and an attendant, and things still get pretty far out of whack. I don't understand why the meters across the street have suddenly become a no parking zone, but I'll refrain from questioning the will of the nice law enforcement people in this town. What kills me, are the people who drive the wrong way in from the bank parking lot. Don't tell me you don't know better, Mr. I Couldn't Afford a 5 series. Your BMW doesn't give you carte blanch to ignore the rules, dude, despite what they told you at the dealership.
Aside from my issues with my fellow Brookline... ians (?), the staff is a joy. Great people all around. They have never been anything but helpful, and often give me recommendations that always end up being home runs. I'm not big on pre-packaged meals or items in general, but what I've tried has been great.
The produce selection is somewhat limited, but I don't expect them to have everything I need here. I'm a crazy home cook, I watch way too much Food Network, and I have deep seated culinary love for many styles of cuisine. I can go to Stop and Shop or Whole Foods, if I'm looking for something off-the-wall or mega-organic. They have enough seasonal items to keep me happy, and it's always fresh. I come here for the meat, the booze, and the Trader Joe's branded foodstuffs like hummous, bread, cereal, dumplings, nuts/dried fruit, plus some unique items like greek yogurt, coffee, and naan.
All in all, I've saved a small fortune by shopping here and get better product than I would at most other places... if only something could be done about some of the more obnoxious patrons who seem to have forgotten that common courtesy should be a lot more common than it is.
I love Trader Joe's! It is less expensive organic, good for you food than Whole Foods. I especially love the pesto tortellini and the French Lemonade. The produce is usually pretty good and I enjoy the frozen edamame. They have such a variety of fresh and frozen food that I can pretty much get everything I want here. I do love the wine and how cheap it is!
The cons are the crazy parking at this location and their ready to eat stuff for lunch is not as good as Whole Foods. And what is up with the rude people and their carts! I WILL stubbornly squeeze my cart and bump it into yours if you are taking up the whole aisle just slowly browsing. You are not the only person in the store - hello!
Don't come to Trader Joe's thinking that it is a grocery store, because you will be disappointed. It is more like a hyped up 7-11. I feel like the person who organized this store did so in the dark. It is impossible to find any thing and the store layout is a joke.
That said, they have a great wine selection and reasonable wine prices. The store is clean and I didn't see any moldy grocery items. I didn't find their prices to be any cheaper than Shaw's and I don't plan to return unless I am buying a few snacks or maybe a bottle of wine.
This Trader Joe's location has a great selection! Prices for basic grocery items like eggs, milk, bread, produce, etc. are lower than the major supermarkets (Shaw's, Star, Stop n Shop). One of the best aspects about this location is that they sell wine and imported beer!
It gets very crowded during the post-work evening hours and during the weekends. One of the best days to go is on a Tuesday. That's when the store is replenished with the previous night's shipment. I've gone on a Monday night a few times and walked out disappointed because they had run out of the standard Trader Joe's items (i.e. frozen foods) that I can't get anywhere else. Speaking of which, they probably have one of the best frozen food sections with items that range from skillet stir-fry kits, to frozen tamales, to frozen lasagna...all of which are pretty good! I'm not a huge fan of the rice bowls because they sometimes come out tasting weird or too watery. But the veggie stir-fry and chicken garlic pasta skillet bags are very good...and inexpensive!
I'm not a vegetarian/vegan, but my boyfriend is and we come here a lot to pick up some vegan goods. They sell the Morngingstar vegan burger patties that you can't find at Star Market (as they sell the non-vegan versions that contain egg). Also, the veggie Thai gyozas are vegan and are pretty tasty...my boyfriend can eat a whole bag of them with the gyoza sauce.
Overall, I definitely recommend coming here to save a few bucks on basic grocery items. Just expect to run into a crowd from time to time.
So the only problem is that on any given day in the evening this place gets PACKED. I'm always running into fellow shoppers when I'm there, but everyone seems to understand because of skinny isles and too many guests. That being said, this is one of the best Trader Joe's I've ever been too! It's well stocked, the staff is helpful and friendly, and they've got one heck of a wine selection!
Not to mention Trader Joe's is awesome. Period.
Not gonna lie, I am essentially devastated to move from Coolidge Corner to Washington Square in 2 weeks for one reason and one reason alone: proximity to TJ's. Is Wash Square even remotely far away from TJs? Absolutely not. Am I going to have much more free time moving from a full-time professional to a full-time graduate student this fall to do my food shopping? Absolutely yes. Do either of those things make any difference to my sadness at moving a few blocks west? Nope.
95% of my food shopping is done here (everything except a small handful of items for which I haven't found suitable TJ replacements for, such as Columbo yogurt and Heinz ketchup, plus that which I can buy at the Farmer's Market), and I've found the majority of TJs brands to actually be more delicious PLUS far cheaper than their counterparts at nearby Stop and Shop (or Whole Foods). They have such a great selection of tasty quick-cooking or almost-ready meals for those on the go who come home from a long day of work and don't feel like cooking (like frozen chicken mini-gyoza that only need be microwaved for 30 seconds, or asparagus risotto that takes just 7 minutes to cook), but also lots of nice ingredients for when you feel like putting in the time to create a real meal (their fresh mozzarella is fantastic and comes in so many different sizes and shapes, mmm). I love discovering their new products- the sesame crepe snack is my recent fav, 1.50 for 2 giant crepes in Vietnamese style, yum-, and the sample counter is always delightful. And they do have the best hors d'oeuvres, the feta and caramelized onion mini tarts disappear in my apartment in 30 seconds flat (we literally need to buy like 3-4 boxes just for ourselves... yes we are fatties).
The one downside is their produce, which generally comes in prepackaged distributions and/or goes bad really quickly upon purchase... sometimes I only want one regular green pepper, not 3 multicolored organic peppers from Venezuela or wherever. Not to totally knock TJs, because I do enjoy some of their selection (the produce that comes in a bag that only need be microwaved for a minute in order to be cooked, fingerling potatoes or green beans for example), I just wish they had a set-up more like Stop and Shop where you can buy exactly the amount you need.
It's sad how much time/$ I spend here, but no matter how busy it gets, the cashiers and workers always have time for a smile and a quick chat. I normally detest small talk, but somehow from them, it always brightens up my day :)
I came across this homemade TJ commercial which brought a smile to my face and made me want to write a yelp update.
http://www.youtube.com...
My top 5 list from TJ:
1. guacamole kit ($2.99 for a box that comes with two avocados, 2 plum tomatoes, garlic, 1 jalapeno pepper, 1 lime, 1 tiny but potent onion)
2. bake at home bread. available in two varieties. appears to be partially baked and you finish it at home with 5-8 minutes in the oven so that the outside is barely crisp and the inside is warm and soft. I recently used these as buns for mini-burgers. mmm.
3. eggs (boring item, but cheaper than any surrounding grocery)
4. barefoot or dr b. wine
5. salad mix ($1.99 every day, unbeatable)
I love the service here. The pleasant "oh! is that a reusable bag i see peeking out of your purse?" from the cashier, the stock guy who notices me circling the bread shelves muttering "where are the friggin tortillas" and instantly steers me in the right direction without even being asked, the sample boy who chats effortlessly with the old lady who spent 20+ minutes sampling the french onion soup and had 5+ sippy cups of coffee...its just hard to find service like that in this day and age. The last time I went to Stop and Shop I had to muster up all my courage just to ask if there were any more strawberry & crunch yogurt in the back, and the dude barked 'NO" and went back to his headphones before I could even finish my sentence...shudder!

Okay. We all know how delightful this Trader Joe's is so I need not beat a dead horse.
I'll just say that I take the trek from the South End here to do my shopping and will continue to do so for as long as I can. Great wine selection, amazing selection of basics and hard to find foods, and the friendliest and most knowledgeable staff I've ever encountered at a grocery store.
Tada!
Let me preface this next comment by saying, "Generally I'm a fan of Trader Joes, However...."
What ever you do, DO NOT GO THERE ON SUNDAYS. It is a frigging mad house. It's waaaaaay too crowded. There's almost not enough room to maneuver up and down the aisles, there's hot brookline mommies fighting over the last bag of trail mix, and getting in your way when all you're trying to do is get some dried mangos. Its just not a good shopping experience.
I will add the point that if you are single guy with the smallest amount of game, come here on a weeknight after work and line up dates for the next 4 months. This place is swarming with single attractive ladies in they're 20-30s.
As far as the food selection, its got just about everything you'd need. I mean the fresh meat and vegetable selection is kinda slim and there is no fresh fish. What the lack in fresh, they make up for in frozen goodies. However, its been a while since they've had bags of frozen uncooked shrimp. Which i love, cause i can season them before I cook, as opposed the frozen cooked shrimp which you just defrost. Gross! Don't do it....
This location of Trader Joes has beer and wine which is better than not having beer and wine. I mean its about as cool as having the Best Cellar across the street. I dont see the what all the hype is... Anyway, They have about 50 types of wines all about 10-20 dollars in value. Not a bad selection, I mean if you're hurt up, there is always the 3$ Charles Shaw.
I have no real comments on the staff here. Aside from the dreaded kids that scan your groceries, those guys are effing cool.
Oh yea... That parking lot. If you live within walking distance, you have no idea how lucky you are. If you have to drive here. I highly recommend avoiding this parking lot at all costs. They actually have a parking lot attendant on account of high emotions and high turnover associated with this lot. Its a Zoo.
I think shopping here is kinda like running into an ex girlfriend , it can be a good experience as long as you know the risks involved...
I heart Trader Joe's!!! I started going there in grad school and fell in love. For someone who grew up going to Bread & Circus (Whole Foods), at first I was taken aback by the organized chaos, crazy & colorful signs, but I have grown to love it. It gets crowded depending on what time you go, but I love this location. To avoid crowds I go very late or very early in the day. There are so many good things to say about TJ's. It's cheap! It has a great cheese and wine selection. You can get good quality food/wine there...cheap! Did I mention it is cheap! TJ's staff are always readily available and helpful. They may not have everything you need, but they will check or even tell you where you can find it. The produce selection is not as extensive and good as Whole Foods, but TJ's makes up for it in other ways.
Cons: Parking, although they have two lots and depending on what time you go you can also park at the Bank of America lot or on the street. Also, because of the size of the store they may get rid of items that are not that popular.
All in all, I love Trader Joes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. Bring the soba noodles back!!!!!!!!!!!!
This Trader Joe's is AWESOME. It makes my local one (West Newton) seem so puny in comparison. Better selection of EVERYTHING, and wine and beer galore!
Worth going out of your way for!
I love to cook to Trader Joe's is a great place. I try not to go with a lot of items in mind but rather sort of float through the store. Unfortunately, the lay out is a little funny probably because there are two entrances and two register areas. I usually end up walking in circles for a while. After the struggle to get a parking spot I feel that I shoud spend at least an equal amount of time inside.
There are a couple things I won't leave the store without the turbo seasoned fish filets, pork dumplings and the wine. The fish is great because it's individually frozen so if you're cooking for 1 or 5 you can buy accordingly. If you circle around the wine area long enough, the employees will start recommending their favorite wines. There are also helpful tags that accompany each wine explaining it's flavor written in laymen lingo. So you'll read something like fruity with a hint of grapefruit and lemongrass. It's also great information to know when you bring a bottle to a dinner party.
Oh how I wish driving to Brookline was not such a headache...I would drive to TJ's at every opportunity! I love Trader Joe's -- this one is no exception. Inexpensive (and delicious) wine, great food, and consistent service. I usually do have trouble finding 1 or 2 things on my grocery list here (and these are ALWAYS items that I know they usually carry). This week they were out of diced tomatoes. TJ's doesn't have our favorite guacamole, either -- the spicy guac -- much better then the stuff they carry. Oh well, I've learned most everything is better in California. A sad truth.
Trader Joe's is still the best grocery store around - BY FAR!
Coming here is kind of hit or miss if you're driving. I got lucky last Friday night with spots everywhere, score!
The selection at this location is good but I couldn't find everything I was looking for. I supplemented my trip here with a trip to Whole Foods, which is kinda lame.
The layout of the store isn't my favorite either - I found myself wandering and walking back and forth across the store trying to find things I thought would be grouped together.
The Mem Drive location is bigger and better I think, but I might just go to Whole Foods next time. Hmph.
I have a love hate relationship with Traders Joes.... I got in for one thing and end up leaving with a ton of (great) stuff. Such as the other night, I went in for lemons and left getting lemons, fresh salsa, 7 layer dip, corn chips, french onion soup (that I sampled), thai curry sauce, garlic powder, and chicken.
I love trader joes products beacuse they are really good quality and they are priced well. But I have to say my favorite thing about trader joes is their inexpensive flowers. I got flowers over a week ago and they are still looking fantastic, much better quality than Kabloom. You can leave with a lot of fantastic flowers for less than $15.
Cant' go wrong with trader joes, except if you are on a budget and are an impulsive shopper (like myself!).
This is all coming from a very, very loyal trader joe's shopper:
compared to the trader joes on memorial drive, this one has less inventory sometimes (cards and other small things I notice!), the bathrooms here smell. I know public bathrooms are questionable in general but these were gross.
this location is always busy, and parking is atrocious.
the layout is crap on (shopping cart) wheels!! frustrating...
the place is like a real, live headache!
go to another location if you can, or at least walk there and skip the bathrooms! i am spoiled to be located near other TJ's.
I have 1 good thing to say, now that my complaints are out....
PS The staff here has helped me on occasion and the staff at all TJ's are usually wonderful, knowledgeable people but this location being in such a densly- populated and highly trafficed area really just needs more space.
My favorite place to get groceries. However, don't expect to be able to get all your stuff here; they don't carry some pretty common items (canned pumpkin? chili powder? Lentils?) The fantastic prices make up for the lack of selection (and I'm not really complaining, I used to live by the Trader Joe's on Boylston-- that's bad.) I like to go on a weekday morning when it isn't very crowded. The staff here are awesome-- they're always offering to help me find something and I always have an awesome little conversation with my cashier.
I love Trader Joes. Favorite products include: Marinated Motzerella, Frozen veggie samosas, mini-mini vanilla meringues (1 calorie each!), chocolate greek lowfat yogurt, whole wheat pizza dough, blackberries (for some reason really cheap all year round) and more. This place is great when you are bored of the normal stuff and want some more ethnically inspired/ generally interesting food. It's more reasonably priced than whole foods. Also a lot of the people from my Weight Watchers meeting go here and find things with great success.
I had a bad experience with their flowers- the petals all fell of literally like the next day. Maybe it was a fluke.
Anyways, there is often a sample- I am always happy when there is a free sample! And the employees are really cheerful and helpful. It gets a little insane on Saturdays though, so if you can do it another day that's a good idea.
As far as TJ's go...this is an impressive one. Although this has to be one of the most crowded stores in the chain it still provides a good shopping experience. It's got the selection of a large grocery with the feel of a small local place where service isn't out of style.
Floor space is small for the number of customers who walk throuh its doors; however its aisles are organized and maintained well enough that there aren't a lot of traffic jams at the registers. There is an excellent frozen section and a very good assortment of nuts and dessert treats. It lacks certain other amenities, such as a full-service bakery and a deli but in a neighborhood featuring many of these, their absences are not missed.
I particularly like the wine and beer section. Although many grocery stores that sell wine have a larger selection the quality of this TJ's is unparalelled. And, yes, they do have an expansive volume of the various Charles Shaw vintages. That alone gets this store a star.
Particularly noteworthy is the sales staff. I've always found them to be helpful and knowledgable, especially when it comes to their wine, and if I can't find something on the shelves that I've seen at another TJ's. They're an efficient group that keeps customer traffic flowing smoothly even during busy times. Kudos to them!
Hate to dock the store a star, but...parking here is a nightmare. The lot gets filled up fast and the jockeying for spaces can sometimes resemble the last lap of a NASCAR race. Otherwise...this is a great store that serves its customers well.
I love Trader Joe's and even though this one is always crowded, this one is my favorite one. I can find anything and I must say, a lot of the stuff here is much cheaper than at other grocery stores and taste much better. I feel so healthy shopping here and even if I get their junkiest foods, they're still kind of beneficial so that's nice. I love the people who work there. They're helpful and answer my questions and always ask me how my day was...unreal in Shaw's or Stop and Shop.
A couple of my favorite things: their chipotle pepper hummus and bread...
Given the fact that I work right above Trader Joe's, I have been stopping by to see how this store measured up to the other Trader Joe's I have been to, namely the one on Memorial Drive in Cambridge. It definitely has a huge selection - I was really surprised at how much stuff they could pack into an urban supermarket! Like many of the other reviewers, this place is ridiculously overcrowded with people like me, the 9-to-5-ers who are stopping in to pick up groceries before they go home. So I guess I am not allowed to complain?
But I absolutely love the service here. The cashiers as well as the other staff are kind to the point where you think it's really weird. I would give them a hug for brightening up my day, but I'm guessing that wouldn't work...
Of course, I have been absolutely spoiled by Market Basket, so the prices here a bit steep for me. I usually just come here to pick up my "let's get fat" food - Chocolate Dunkers.
A nice little grocery store for a certain niche.
The good:
-Free samples,
-free coffee,
-Very friendly staff
-Easy access by car or T
-Good cheap wine selection
-Good selection of premade frozen / boxed foods
-Fairly cheap if they have what you want
The bad:
-Poor selection, don't go if you like to browse through a multitude of choices. Also, don't expect anything too specialty. For example, they have a wall of 14 freakin kinds of hummus but you can't buy sesame seeds to make your own tahini.
-Poor selection especially comes through with the produce section
-Always crowded, but they usually have enough people working the registers
-No counters to get things fresh (deli, butcher, fish, etc). But if you don't need a big selection of cuts of beef and don't mind prepackaged meats then this shouldn't bother you.
Perhaps what solidifies the 4 star rating, and what is gauranteed to keep me coming back since I haven't seen it elsewhere, is that they carry Barbara's shredded oats cereal. You have no idea how addicted I am to this stuff. So as long as TJ is my only drug supplier I'll keep shopping there for sure.
oh trader joe's, how do i love thee? let me count the ways: wholesome grain medley, delicious tuscan white bean hummus, affordable beer and wine.
i could go on, but i think it is clear to all that TJ's has a bevy of delightful options at even lighter prices. i am moving to TJ-less beacon hill in a matter of weeks, but i have a sneaking suspicion that the brookline TJ's will appreciate my continued business as long as i am in the boston area.
why no five stars? as many have said, TJ's can become extremely crowded... but that is just the nature of the beast. also, be warned that the produce section is seriously lacking. again, this is true of most urban TJ outposts.
Trader Joes, Brookline:
Poor man's Whole Foods.
Staff are friendly and chatty.
Always freakin' crowded.
Sweet jazz blazin' in the background.
Better quality (and value) than Stop and Shop.
Decent organic food and "three buck Chuck" wine.
Delicious free samples.
Awful miniature parking lot.
(Walk or take public transportation to get there.)
Yeah, TJs!
I go in with $40. I leave with a full case of mixed wine. Merlot, Shiraz, Cab Sav, Pinot..... AND I still have money left!
That alone is enough reason to give Trader Joe's 5 stars. Then you count in the super friendly staff, the free wine and cheese tastings, the super chill atmosphere... I wish I could give it SIX stars! Heck, I'd give it TEN!
Yeah yeah - the food is healthy, diverse, affordable, and delicious. The free sample booth is fun and a nice little treat. The staff are adorable and helpful.
But I think we all know the real reason I love this place - booze, baby. They have an incredible selection of wine under $10. I've done the research - most of it is decent.
Verdict? Trader Joe's = great deals and happy drunken dinnertime.
The best!!!!!! Period!
I live half a mile from this one, and I will gladly pollute the atmosphere and decimate the icebergs to drive the extra mileage to the one on Memorial Drive because:
--There is NEVER a good time to shop this one. Believe me, I have tried different permutations of times of day, days of week, T vs car vs bike. No matter the way you choose, you will be fighting clueless, inattentive, or downright aggressive people for aisle space to manoeuvre or hunt for budget brie.
--The parking lot sucks whale-wang. This is Brookline, remember. There's no space for anything. And getting in and out onto the road to get on with your day is a tricky proposition, again, because it's always "me first!" in Brookline. And in this case "me" ain't you, Dear Reader.
--The cheese turns moldy after two days. This is endemic to nearly every TJ, though.
--It's small. Bigger than the one on Boylston by Berklee, though. But you suffer for the selection. For example, I love me my nut/dried fruit mixes, but the ones I love best are at Cambridge because they have the space to carry more of them. And a better prodce selection in Cambridge too.
--Where the hell is their coffee grinder? They used to have a sign that it was 15 steps to the right, but I can never find it. They're doing this to screw with my head, I swear...
+On the plus side, the staff is really really nice and will approach you if you look like you're seeking something. And the food is cheap.
Busy-yes. Crowded-perhaps. Worth it - Hellz Yes.
Last night I made the trek across Boston to come to this Trader Joes, which carries wine. The wine selection was a bit picked over (but reasonably it was a Friday night). But I got such great deals, and there was so much variety. I think this is one of the few Joes in Boston that carries wine, so it's worth the trip for me.
The best part was that I told the cashier that this was my first time here. She was so nice, and actually stopped to have a conversation, which is so rare. I'll definitely be back.
Love Love Love Trader Joes! I have been a walking advertisement for this place ever since I stepped into the one in Needham when I was 17. It's all over fantastic. The prices are cheap, the beer and wine selection is unreal (try their beer...you will not regret it). I found myself spending hours there when I lived in Brighton. Now that I live far away, I make every trip to TJs count...stocking up on everything from cereal to coffee. Their frozen food is out of this world. Try their Karat Cake and their Crab Cakes.
If I could meet Joe...I might try to make out with him...that's how much I love TJs.
I love Trader Joe's. I love the people who work at this Trader Joe's. I really, really would love to give it 5 stars. But I can't. I really, really, really do not like the crowds here. Not only is it difficult to maneuver around but I actually find the people to be borderline obnoxious. And I have no idea why that is because I haven't experienced a crowd like that anywhere else in Coolidge Corner (and I lived there for almost 2 years). It has, on occasion, taken me more than 5 minutes to actually get to the cheese section. They do have the best wine/beer selection in the area, though, and SO many tasty things.
Trader Joe's, I think I love you.
Thank you for giving me wonderful food at reasonable prices.
Thank you for your fabulous wine and beer selection.
Thank you for candy cane Joe-joes in December.
Thank you for stinky brie and pretty flowers.
Now if only you would let me buy only one avocado, not four, you might be perfect.
I really love this place... I live a lot closer to the Newton store, but the lure of "two buck Chuck" was tempting, and it was off to Brookline I went (Newton TJ's doesn't have a liquor license, boo). I went during their customer appreciation bbq, so there were tons of free food going around (hot dogs, burgers, their amazing organic lemonade/iced tea). I just feel happy shopping at TJs. Everyone is super friendly, and the people who work there have cool t-shirts. One of the employees was helping a visually-impaired guy do his shopping, and offering his recommendations (would that ever happen at Shaws...I don't think so!). Very cool place, even though I get confused as to where I am because there are registers on both ends of the store.
I love the pita chips (way better/cheaper than Stacy's) and the spinach and artichoke dip. I have yet to try my $3 Cabernet Savignon...can't go wrong for $3 though! TJs luvvvvv!!
