8 reviews for Trace
Trace is a nice small lounge/bar/restaurant near the Verrazano in Bay Ridge. It has valet parking at night and a friendly hostess when you walk in.
I was here recently for the Sunset-Ridge Waterfront Alliance benefit, and while no dinner was served, nor could guests order off the menu, the hors d'oeuvres were cooked on premises and consisted of mainly the 'appetizers' from the regular menu. The Jalapeno Chicken Poppers were very tasty and the Steak-on-a-Stick was cooked nicely and was complimented well by a cilantro lime sour cream sauce. The Tuna Tartar Tacos were less than satisfying and the Chicken "Lollipops" which were mainly round slices of chicken cordon-bleu on a stick, were rather bland but had a lemon butter sauce that had a tangy taste, which gave it an interesting flavor. I would definitely like to go here again for dinner.
The decor was nice, the restaurant and bar portion were clean. Four large plasma t.v.s face down upon the guests and broadcast (for us scenes of the Brooklyn waterfront) sports games or news.
The bathrooms were extremely clean and everything is touch-free. The only disappointment came when I requested a menu to order something off of it. The waiter brought one over, and I told him what I wanted to order, and he said "OK" then 15 minutes later, told me "you cant order from the menu." I was rather confused and irate, but what can you do. Free food and drinks otherwise made up for it.
The jazz band was really good and consisted of older guys and high school or college students. An odd mix, but a nice sound.
All in all a good night.
I strolled into Trace around 2 a.m. Or was it 3 a.m? I had been drinking JW Black and it was Daylight Savings so it could of actually been both. Either way, I had fun at Trace. Good crowd, good music. They clear the tables out of the back room to convert it to a dance floor. Trace is a bar/restaurant that serves Mexican food. I'd go back to Trace and this time I'd try the food.
Trace was just a little loud for my tastes. Now I understand that it was Halloween night and game 3 of the world series between the Yankees and the Phillies, but it was still really loud. We asked them to turn it down, they did and then the volume went right back up about 10 minutes later.
Went here with a few friends and the food was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I had the Baja shrimp tacos which were really good and the Bacon Rice as a side which was outstanding. My friends has the Hangar steak which is average, the Mahi Mahi, which was average, and the Enchiladas which were average. We all tried everyone's dishes and all basically agreed. My girlfriend had a pomegranate margarita which she said was very good. The Guacamole was pretty good as we all put away a double order easily. It was much better than the salsa they brought before the appetizer.
The ambiance of Trace is really nice and I could definitely see it as a little more of a lounge place (which it is). But I think it just too loud for an enjoyable meal.
I stopped into this place with three girlfriends for some margaritas and Mexican food and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The decor is fresh and modern but with a cozy feel. Pitchers of margaritas were strong, chips and salsas were yummy and after much thought I chose a Chicken Burrito which was quite tasty. We sat at a table in the back where it wasn't as noisy so we could all chat away but this would also be a fun spot to go have a few drinks in their bar area. I hope to go back again one day!
An amazing space and amazing meal. Folks were complaining initially, but the flank steak was great and the fish was superb. The chips are tasty as well. The guac is made just as you order it by some guys by the waiter's station. Good stuff.
The space is amazing. I haven't been this pleased with a restaurant in Bay Ridge since the Chip Shop opened - and then closed.
The bar scene is great, the space is beautiful, the food however sucks. The meal started off with delicious tortilla chips with 3 different types of salsa...everything after that was a HUGE disappointment. Me and my cousin both ordered the fish entrees, both where a big letdown. Defiantly not fresh - poorly executed dishes. Needless to say we left hungry.Do yourself a favor and visit the bar, the tenders are great, and the space is Manhattan chic.
Yummy $8 hand squeezed fresh lime margaritas made with Patron Silver (in a generous sized glass, I might add), great guacamole (if you like Dos Caminos' guacamole, you will love Trace's - rumor has it that they have a former chef from Dos Caminos in their kitchen), and a relaxed no-attitude attitude. We went on a Saturday night and there was a lively lounge scene and plenty of happy diners in the dining room.
Other standouts from the small plates menu include the pulled pork slider and the plantain empanada. Trace is a great place to relax with a fine tequila beverage and have a good evening. Trace is also doing a flavored margarita each month. This month its pomegranate.
I like TRACE for dinner, there's a small but nice bar in the front with tables so you can eat there AND there's a main dining room in the back with sky lights, wooden tables, and Flat Screens. The decor is simple but nice...the photos that has been uploaded on Yelp doesnt do it justice, it looks much nicer in person.
The food was very good - you'll get a basket of warm tortilla chips with three different homemade salsas to start with. I ordered the half crispy chicken with amazingly god mashed potatos and roasted peppers...I loved my meal, the portion was a good size, too much for me actually. My fiance had the pulled pork burrito and he was happy with his dish as well. They have a full bar with many different kinds of beers, wines and tequillas. For dessert we had the peanut butter pie or something like that, the presentation was very nice but I didnt love the dessert.
Service was very good, we came on a slow night so it was pleasant to have some quiet. The waitress checked on us several times and made sure our drinks were full. All the staff is very friendly, from the bar tender to the waitress to the bus boy.
I liked the food, I liked the atmosphere, it wasnt too crowded, I liked the decor so all in all, I like TRACE and will go back. The only thing is...it's not a BARGAIN, expect to spend about $30 -$40 per person for dinner, with drinks. A $25 pri fix menu is also available.
