Review from Ej F.
For parents with young kids, there's a lot going on here. More than just toys (mostly toys though), there's video games, candy, and even a ferris wheel!
For couples considering to be parents... this is birth control central. Since it was before new years, this store was packed. Unfortunately there was a huge line for the ferris wheel so my wife and I passed. Kind of crazy inside, but by now I was getting used to large crowds in the Times Square area.
Didn't buy anything but it was fun to walk around, take pictures of the dinosaur, optimus prime, superman, iron man etc. and check out each of the three levels.Listed in: EJ's NY State of Mind

Wow, I've definitely never stepped foot inside a Toys R Us like this before! It's perfectly in the middle of Times Square and it's lit up with such bright lights and colors, you can't help but walk in.
It has three levels of toys, games, and candy - a little kid's (well, a big kid's, for that matter) dream come true! They have giant-sized dinosaurs and other figures, and they even have a Ferris wheel inside! It's complete sensory overload.
As if your kids wouldn't be bouncing off the walls enough, they have desserts downstairs and coffee for the adults (trust me, you're probably going to need it).
The place was completely crowded (don't know if it was just because it was so close to the holidays, or if that level of traffic is the norm), but it's all a part of the experience.
And even if you don't end up buying anything, this place is worth checking out. -

It's nice for kids, but just a bit too crowded for me! I did love the whole barbie palace, it was kind of nostalgic. The prices were a bit too high for my taste too, but they do have everything! For babies and for young teens.

What is there to really say about this location of Toys R Us... there's a giant ferris wheel in the middle of the store where for an extortionary price, you and your kid can sit in it and look at... the store as you go round and round.
This is a tourist spot and I admit, I'll come here once in awhile to look at things. Recently, I've come here to check out their baby section and it's quite plentiful, although there is never anyone around to help. They carry many of the super high end brands of strollers and carseats so it's a nice place to do some comparison shopping before you push the ORDER button online where the savings are drastic. TRU (and BRU) are huge rip-offs, as far as I'm concerned. In fact, their online sites are a lot cheaper than their stores most of the time. What I like to do is if I find something that is at a price I'm willing to pay, I will buy it online to get the savings and then just do in store pick-up.
Returns/Exchanges are a breeze ONLY if you have receipts; these are done downstairs. -

As a New Yorker I have never shopped here nor would I ever shop here. This place is a tourist trap, but that's what also makes it great.
You walk in and realize this is the place that is in your dreams as a kid. Just a magical place filled with fun and toys and sights and sounds.
From the ferris wheel right in the middle of the store to the life like dinosaurs set up in the Jurassic part area. this store is an adventure within itself and one of the biggest draws in the city for kids and adults alike.
Downstairs has all the video games to catch your eye and with stations to try out the newest games and systems.
It's pretty simple this store has it all and is always packed. -

Toys Galore!
Whenever family or friends come to visit me in NY, this is one store they always remind me to take them to.
It's always crazy packed in here. As soon as you enter employees ask you to pose so that they can take a pic of you. The top floor has the huge T Rex and the bottom floor has video games.
Everything here is leaning towards the pricier side, but they do have a bunch of items you may not be able to find at other Toys R Us stores. -
Review from Phil H.
This store is just ridonkulous!
Just entering and seeing a Ferris Wheel smack dab in the front of the store makes you smile.
Walking around and seeing the giant Lego statues makes me think how un-artistic I really am, but amazed that these things can be built from those little blocks.
Seeing the gigantic Jurassic Park T-Rex makes me feel like a little kid again.
This location is just jammed packed with every type of toy imaginable. Video games, board games, action figures, infant toys, educational toys, bicycles, dolls, etc. The problem is that this place is always packed with people it seems at all days and hours. During the holiday season it gets even worse with the throngs of tourists shopping here. The staff tries their best to maintain order, and are actually quite helpful if you have any questions. The checkout lines are usually long so be prepared to wait a bit. Can be a bit pricey here probably because of the Times Square location, but their selection of toys is massive. There are three levels to check out in this store. Keep an eye out for the sales flyers in the mail as some good deals can be had, especially around the holidays.
Best bet is to get here early when it first opens to make your purchases and escape before the hordes of "Walking Dead" shoppers and tourists attack!Listed in: Tourists! Run! Run for your…, Places to buy stuff

"I DON'T WANNA GROW UP I'M A TOYS-R-US KID!"
Located in the craze of Time Square, this Toys-R-Us lives up to it's location! You will be AMAZED. BLOWN AWAY. It will make grown ass adults run up and down the 3 floors, oohing and aahing over all the different types of toys and attraction!
Why should you visit this store?
1. Indoor Ferris Wheel! Not just a typical ferris wheel, but a TOYS-R-US FERRIS WHEEL where each cart is specially designed in childhood characters....carts shaped in Rug Rats, Spongebob, Barbie car, tonka toy truck, ET and more! $4.50 and takes 10-15 minutes to load and ride.
2. Scoops R Us. Dessert bar with ice cream, cookies, cakes etc
3. Barbie House! Large Barbie House filled w/ barbie dolls, clothes and accessories. Every girl's dream =)
4. Giant life size T-Rex that roars.
5. Babies-R-Us
Enjoyed my trip to this location. I really felt like a little kid again =) -

A kid-friendly clusterf!ck.
But...There's every toy known to man in here. If you can't find it, you're not looking hard enough. I've never seen a ferris wheel INside of a toy store before, so that was weird/cool.
Getting in/out of there can be quite a bear. Move fast, or get shoved.

Ventured into this store to buy birthday gift for my friends kids. This is not a normal store, 3 huge floors catering only to the needs of kids. There is so much to choose from and it is freaking big.
They carry almost all the major brands when it comes to kids toys. They have disney,Toy story,Hot wheels etc. It have a section dedicated only for barbie's.It was fun to see all those different varieties of barbie's. I ended up buying barbie set and cars as gifts.
Shout outs to the staff, they were uber friendly and helpful. -
Review from Lili K.
This place is like a mini-Disneyland. I never would've stepped foot into this place, but I'm glad I did. It is no ordinary Toys R Us!
First of all, there's a huge, super cute ferris wheel inside! The cars are adorable-one of M&Ms, Toy Story, My Little Pony, etc. Who doesn't wanna ride that? Yes it's pricey but it went around almost ten times, which was pretty impressive. The guy also took a picture for us beforehand, even though soon after, he was scolded for doing so (since they make you pay for the pictures they take of you on THEIR cameras). Puhaha. Side note: we were told to come between 10-11am, so there's no wait. True that.
There's also a ginormous dinosaur (think Natural History Museum) you can take pictures with, a giraffe, etc. You can also stop by for random demos (ie a sticker game). Then comes the candy-this beats the Hershey's store, and they have huge stuffed Jolly Ranchers, boxes of Nerds, etc. There's a side Willy Wonka section, a section for Babies R Us, a room for Barbie...this 3 story store has it all. -
Review from Travis W.
NOTE: I'm a big kid at heart
That being said, I LOVE this particular Toys' R' Us. Plenty of reasons why:
1. Ferris Wheel inside (come on I know you're impressed)
2. Large and I mean LARGE selection of candy and Willy Wonka food items.
3. Largest selection of toys I've ever seen in one place.
4. Character sitings throughout the store (Spiderman, Superman, dinosaurs)
5. Three levels of fun!
And to be fully transparent I've never bought a single thing in this store but I still could spend hours in here just taking it all in and reminiscing about the days of GI Joe and Transformers!Listed in: Shop 'til I Drop

Known to me as a Times Square attraction, this place was full of kids. I came in here with my friend Jimmy C. right after taking a picture with a man dressed up as Spiderman. Yes. Spider. Man.
When I came in here, I was thinking FAO Schwartz. As I went through, it was crawling with kids who couldn't care less about the cesspool of germs swimming across this place. I still had fun checking out all the toys that were being sold here, but found this place to be quite product-heavy. It didn't focus, in comparison, to the consumer/tourist experience to brand Toys-R-Us in their heads. That's a shame considering the decreasing popularity of the store in the recent decade. FAO Schwartz seems to focus moreso on the consumer experience.
What I liked: The Star Wars, Pixar, and Lego sections. The staff were really friendly too.
What I didn't like: Germs. Everywhere.
This place screams tourist. If you are one, go ahead and go nuts. Say hello to Spiderman for me. -

New York, NY
Holy crap this place is huge. I love when guests come to town so I can take kids to Toys R Us since I can't quite justify spending hours in there on my own.
The ferris wheel is awesome to look at but not worth the $4.50 ride. My niece and nephew were frankly bored after the first go around. I was more excited than they were but that didn't last long. This ferris wheel just doesn't go around. It stops and picks up kids every two spots your move. It's like being on a city bus that stops on every block. It takes forever and you don't feel like you're going anywhere fast. Plus you don't get to pick which car you ride in which apparently is a huge let-down for kids, especially when you get a young boy who's pissed when he has to ride in the Barbie car.
Otherwise they do have lots of cool stuff to play with and a giant Jurassic Park dinosaur. The LEGO area is cool, as is the Hello Kitty NY area. -

Nice toy store in the middle of Times Square.
Is it me, or are toys not as good as they used to be?
That being said, it's a huge store and well worth visiting, just make sure that you take your credit card with you! -

Best Toys R Us in town!!!
It also beats Vegas's toy store.
I love the plenty of attractions that this place provides (ferris wheel, photo shoots with action characters, demo game host)
3 floors of kids googling eyes over a galore of heavenly toys that any child could imagine (lol)
Don't want to ruin the surprise, so you have to check out this place yourself! ;D -

I can go on and on about how I HATE Times Square, bubbling with tourists and crowds, and how I keep getting jobs there! (go figure) but there are hidden gems located between the tourists and summer stages. In fact on big ass gem if you ask me.
If you never even stepped foot near the door of Toys R Us, your missing out. It's the biggest toy store in the United States if not the world, and can get crowded because it is a tourist attraction. I know, I know its people everywhere and those annoying picture taking people give you hives, but ignore your gut and look around take the closest escalator to your left and embrace your inner child. Toys R Us, has changed out their layout since the last time I been, and the Ice Cream scoop shop is a big improvement. The layout of milkshakes and smoothies are endless(at times square prices) and the room for kids to drop ice cream and then conveniently slip in it, is just what Im looking for.
And then we have the grand daddy of the show. The Farris wheel. The neon lights and shaking carts are just calling for a ride, and at only 4.50 a ride for 6 turns your inner child will kick you in the ass if you pass it up. And give the associate a "shit eating" grin if they stare. It takes you to the top of the store where you can gaze over the domain of plastic dolls and roaring dinosaur, and for the mere 20 seconds(or of your lucky they will stop you at the top, while someone gets out). You can clearly see the Barbie dream house and the lego land spiderman and king kong. The glass elevator goes down and some kids run across Animal Alley from Baby R Us to Candy Land.(check out the video below).
I will say thats its something that you want to do at least ONCE. I mean how many times have you walked by that building? And I know a hand full of people who don't even known that a Farris Wheel is even IN Toys R Us.
So at number 0001 - Riding the Farris Wheel at Toys R Us is a must.
Its nothing like sticking your tongue out to some screaming kid as his mom pulls the power ranger out his hand.

If you want to wish you were a kid again with a wallet the size of the Empire State Building go here. Every hot and happening toy is in stock. And don't forget the million and one tourists you can fight, nudge and shove around the aisles. This place is packed with toys and people every time I have been here.
For all your mainstream child needs then go here. -

Mobbed with tourists. Full of movie merchandise masquerading as great toys. I'm glad that I finally found the section with the educational toys. I bought something for my 4 year old nephew here, but it was hard to find something w/o a choking hazard (he has a 1 year old sister).

the giant Lego sculptures - empire state building, statue of liberty, superman
the puzzle section (since that's what dragged me there in the first place)
Not-so-awesome:
crowds

Not sure it's fair to dock stars for crowds and kids, because, after all, it is Toys R Us in TIMES SQUARE. But, I'm doing it anyway. -
Review from Brian L.
Okay, so, I'm weird as I'm going to write a review of a toy store, right?
No, I'm not weird. I was recently in New York for business and we were slammed each day with meetings and dinners. On the last night there, we were lucky enough to finish dinner earlier and get back to the hotel by 9:00 (we were staying in Times Square).
I HAD to buy toys to bring home to my son who is quickly tiring of my business travel (been gone 2 out of the last 4 weeks) and so I bolted across the street to the "R".
I walked in at 9:15pm, walked out at 9:45pm, dropped $88 and got everything I needed. They close at 10:00pm
So why am I writing about it? Well, when I walked in I approached one of the workers and asked where the Batman and Spiderman stuff was. He knew exactly where without looking at any chart or giving me the "I believe...", no, he told me exactly where and how to get there.
After that, as I was on the 2nd floor, I went near the cash register and asked if they had a section with ImagiNext toys. He stopped what he was doing and walked me right there without any hesitation.
I had heard that the service in this Toys R Us blew away the service at your local one and boy was that correct. Oh, and if your kid is into any genre of toy, they have the bomb-diggity selection. Entire walls of Thomas the Tank Engine characters!!
If you go into this story for any one reason there's also a 2-story functioning ferris wheel that you can ride as well.
Made the suitcase go 1 pound over the limit on the way home but thankfully they didn't charge me for it. My little guy has only gotten ONE of the many toys so far. You know, need to space out the crazy bulk purchases!! -

Do not venture into this place during Christmas season.
It's like the running of the bulls in there.
But it's Toys R Us; huge lego buildings, massive (worn down) moving dinosaur, and more action figures than you can shake a stick out.
Word to the wise; if it is crowded, just head to the book section.
No one goes to Toys R Us for books. If you want books, get your ass to a Barnes and Noble. -

I will never grow up simply so I can always have fun at the Toys R Us in Times Square!
I've never actually went there to shop, but I always stop in whenever I visit NYC.
They have everything, from a ferris wheel to a candy section, and lots of things to take stupid pictures with.
I went around Christmas and it was SOOOO busy, but c'mon, it only makes sense.
I'm a fan! -
Review from Phillip K.
New York, NY
Okay, I have to admit, whenever a stressed out work day happens, I do not do any shopping to de-stress.
I go here.
Here's why...a wide variety of a selection of toys, people who come in are always smiling when they come out, the overworked workers do their best to help you, and the workers who do the toy demostrations really are trying to sell their product.
The odd thing is, despite the massive crowds, the strange smells eminating at times, and maybe teh occasional non-attentive, non-caring worker, there's something you would find that makes you forget about that. Maybe it's the toys or the kids' faces when they find a toy.
Honestly, the store reminds me of why materialism can sometimes be good. And I'm honestly a non-materialistic dude....who bought a 19-inch Galactus figure. -
Review from Amy R.
Thank god for their bathrooms!
I always feel like kind of a weasal if I'm only stopping in a place to use the bathroom, but J and I roamed around for an hour plus and I did end up buying some Hello Kitty- how expected.
The store is huge, packed to the gills and bursting with stimuli. A nice trip down memory lane even though the "throwback" stuff is getting a bit out of hand. Strawberry Shortcake with a newer font and flashier packaging. Darth Vader & Darth Tater looking more chic and good old Hello Kitty now with a swoop hair do. And of course the good old Bratz dolls looking more floosy then ever, give them a few years and it they will be throwbacks too.
The selection is endless and the displays alone are impressive and fun to look at.
Great place for kids of all ages. The store is quite impressive on every level.Listed in: I Heart You New York City, For the Kid at Heart

I definitely agree with other reviewers - this is no ordinary Toys R Us. There is a huge ferris wheel inside; a life size Barbie dream house, characters roaming the store, etc. But I find that all of these things are a huge distraction; the crowd is a bit intimidating (it was so easy to lose sight of a child in here); and I'm not quite sure how anyone gets any shopping done in this store. It seems more like an attraction than a place to buy things.

This store is very frustrating. Its always overcrowded with tourist who are more interested in taking pictures of the T-Rex than purchasing stuff, but even more frustrating is that the items in this store is always way over priced than other Toys R Us stores. I went to purchase a Lego set that was sold out at my local store so I went to this location and they had plenty of them in stock. Problem was they were selling it for $25 more than the regular price.

The Toys R Us in Times Square is a must attraction if you're ever venturing out to the city with kids. The Ferris Wheel was awesome and well worth the $4.50 ticket per person. You basically get an overview of where everything is located on all levels of the store so you can map out which sections you'd like to go next.
I left the place not wanting to leave, but knowing there are other things to do in NYC. -

It's an enormous Toys R Us. I wish I came here when I was growing up.
They've got a life-sized t-rex (modeled after the Jurassic Park one) roaring in one corner of the store, a Willy Wonka 'factory' corner (which actually was kind of lame- just generic Wonka candy in gaudy displays), a ferris wheel, store employees playing with new gizmos out on the floor (enticing children to beg their parents to spend more), and other fun/kitsch/gaudy things.
Anyway, I didn't buy toys, but I did buy candy! -

Big and fancy store but I really don't find anything special in the store that you can't find at any other Toys-R-Us or any run of the mill toy store. Might be interesting to get an NYC item but that's about it.
It would probably be really fun for kids to come and ride on the ferris wheel inside the store. -
Review from Carmela R.
New York, NY
I can't believe it's almost ten years since Toys R Us opened its international flagship store right here in the heart of New York City's Times Square. They opened in 2001. My nephew was five years old and my loving companion BR was still alive. Today my nephew is 13 and while trips to Toys R Us are now replaced with trips to Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ and other destinations, we reminisce about all the fun times he, Bob and I had there.
Within a couple of months of this Toys R Us grand opening, I swiftly scooped up my nephew from his home in NJ for the weekend and headed here for fun, fun, fun. At the age of 5, he was in the height of his dinosaur stage. Everything and anything dinosaur thrilled him. So, it was pretty exciting for him (and for me watching his enthusiasm) to be in the midst of the grip of a 20 foot "animatronic" T-Rex dinosaur replete with Jurassic Park theme and the roaring sounds from the mouth of this behemoth rex.
The highlight was and still is the 60 foot Ferris Wheel which stands colorful and vibrant in neon bright lights in the center of the store. The cars on the ride include many disney characters and nickelodeon ones too.
There is also a life size Barbie dollhouse and an object of the NYC skyline "constructed entirely of LEGOS".
There's also a Candyland comprised of many of the favorite candies over the past decades. And, 3 or 4 levels of toys and other popular children's items. There is a video game/techno area too.
My two nieces are still at the age where visiting this mega store is on top of their "to do" list (next to American Girl Store, Coney Island, Central Park etc..hehe) when having a sleepover by their Aunt Mellie.
Sometimes when I'm in the area, I'll stop in to enjoy the energizing atmosphere by watching all the fun of families from around the world speaking different languages and observing the variety of cultures and happy, smiling children with their poor exhausted parents. It's a huge tourist spot, yet one thing unites tourists and natives alike and that is the love of amusements and themes that make children happy and smile and how that happiness is generated to the adults, reminding us that we all still have a child within us that needs to come out and play too sometimes.
For me, regardless of crowds, this Toys R Us is always and always a 5 star experience. -

I don't know how anyone could not like this place. Today was my mom's first time in NYC in 40 years. She had never been to Times Square, and when she got there, she was very reluctant to go into TRU. "All of my kids are adults!" She exclaimed.
Then she walked in.
She was floored. All of the TRU's in our area are really rinky dink. Not this place. She was shocked to see that the ferris wheel worked. She marvled at the Jurrasic Park area. Gawked at the Lego sculptures, and sighed with joy in Candyland. Watching my mom light up at all of the different things really made me believe that deep down inside, no matter how old we are, we are always going to be a Toys R Us kid. This store is amazing, and should always be a stop for anyone visitng NYC.Listed in: Shopping

I never thought I'd be this excited in a Toys 'R Us. Holy mackerel, there is a ton to see in this 1, 2, 3, 4??? story monstrosity. A ferris wheel? Seriously??
Anyway, it was definitely a cool store. After checking out the Hershey's (lame) and M&M's (better, but just like Vegas) stores, we were definitely wowed by this place. Unfortunately, I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I didn't get to appreciate it as much as I should have.
All the spectacles and wonders will keep your littlest child, to your biggest child (me) entertained for hours (possibly!).
Recommendation: Skip any other store that you see in Times Square, and head straight to this one! -

No visit to NYC is complete without visiting the TRU flagship store right in the center of Times Square. We'd been here numerous times before but never with our little one. After visiting Santa at Macy's we thought where better to go for her to fill out her wish list to the big guy. I think our DD was overwhelmed by this place. She couldn't maintain focus for more than 2 minutes without seeing something else that she wanted to check out.
Between the two story walk-in Barbie house, the 30ft. Jurassic Park T-Rex, getting her picture taken with Spiderman, shopping for Lollipops in Candy Land. She really, really, wanted to go on the Ferris Wheel but the line was crazy long so we promised her we'd come back in the summer and do it then.
We also managed to sneak in some Christmas gift buying for her. The prices didn't seem too amped up considering the location of the store. We paid what we thought we would have paid at our local TRU for the two things that we bought. -
Review from Hank C.
Massive Toys 'R Us store. You enter and they take a photo of you and your group, and you're greeted by a massive internal ferris wheel.
Multiple floors of toys and displays, plenty of toy electronics on the basement floor, kids LEGOs, Barbies, and more on the top floor, and a mix of toys everywhere else. While the depth isn't as good as I'd expected, it's still a fun place to come and find toys for the kids or ones that you haven't played with for a while. Or take a ride on the wheel (though for a fee).
Crammed with tourists, though, and packs of roaming kids. Where are their parents??
Exit is on the other side, and is less-handicapped friendly than the entry. -

My 1st review of a non-restaurant! Worthy of it too...this place is nuts! It's so packed with people all day long! Good thing this place was literally right next door to the hotel we were staying at in NYC.
This Toys R Us is massive! Heaven for kids and us big kids alike! Like 3 floors of toys, toys, toys! And for us grown men...'action' figures. Upon entering you're treated to a huge toy theme ferris wheel right in the middle of the store! The kids had to ride it, so $5 each and 30 minutes later we were on our way. It was kinda fun to people watch while you're going round and round in your seat.
There's so much stuff here I don't know where to start. Their video game section is HUGE. Not like the poopy little game section at my local ghetto Toys R Us. They have setups everywhere to try the latest games, and they sure stock a lot of stuff.
Their Lego section is awesome! Huge Lego replicas of the Statue of Liberty, and The Empire State Building were very cool to look at. The toy selection is just enormous I tell you! Everything from Barbie to G.I. Joe to Transformers was stocked. I finally found the limited edition Toys R Us War Machine Mighty Mugg I was looking for! Only had to go all the way to NYC to get it! I was so stoked finally getting that ahem...'action' figure.
I seriously don't think we went through the entire store that day. There was just way too much to see in such a short period of time. Have you ever seen Hot Wheels? I've never seen so many stocked it one section at the same time! There was easily hundreds and hundreds of them just staring me in the face. I felt like a kid in a candy store.
This Toys R Us was just plain awesomeness. I could have stayed in there half the day and not even know it. I plan to visit again someday if I ever get back in to Times Square NYC!Listed in: Born to Shop

According to the AAA Guidebook, Toys R Us was an attraction listed that I should see. Why? It's because of the indoor ferris wheel! My husband didn't believe me when I said that there was a ferris wheel in the store. Wow! We were surprised at how large it is! It was cool to see that each carriage had a specific theme, such as Cabbage Patch Kids, My Little Pony, Monopoly, etc.
Any kid will enjoy this place. There are toys for everyone - LEGO, Barbie, etc.
I wanted to try the ice cream, but I was too full from dinner. The Willy Wonka candy section was also tempting.
Next time, I want to ride the ferris wheel!
