I was working up in San Mateo but I was having a hard time finding a nearby hotel that would fit my budget.  My travel agent suggested the Towneplace Suites in San Jose.  She was worried that it might be a tough commute but since I wanted check out the Velodrome at Hellyer Park I agree to give it a try.

It also turned out that the TownePlace Suites is right down the street from my aunt and uncle in Santa Clara.  As soon as I got off 280 I knew right were I was.  It was actually very cool.

Until this trip I had never stayed at the TownePlace Suites before.  I am a Platinum Elite Marriott Member so I usually look to stay at Marriott Brand hotels.  I was not sure what to expect.

The Towneplace suites are not nearly as plush as a full service Marriott but they have refrigerators, stoves and free Internet so they do tend to be cost effective.  I am starting not to like full service hotels now.  Too much bother.  I just want to get my room and be left alone.  The TownePlace Suites meets my needs.  Good thing because project budgets make it hard for me to stay at a full service Marriott.

I tried to stay at this hotel on my next trip out but it was sold out.  I ended up staying at the full service Marriott in San Mateo.

I'm never ever on time for anything so when I requested early check-in at this hotel, I must have been deluding myself into thinking that I could get there by the early check in time. I had decided to stay there to attend a somewhat nearby wedding and when I arrived at the hotel, I had about 2 hours to get changed and make it to the ceremony. Unfortunately all the early check-in rooms were taken. After explaining the situation, the staff immediately got on things and made sure that I had time to change. I even made it to the wedding with 5 minutes to spare.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms with fridge and stove, and free continental breakfast.

This place is a pretty good bargain for a nights stay. Less than $100 for a weekend night with a full kitchen. The room we stayed in was small but had everything we needed. A pull out couch for the kids and internet access. The pool to swim in makes it a great deal for a nice getaway from the coastal fog weekend. We will be staying here again soon.

I stayed here over the weekend, it was easy to find just being right off 280.  The rooms are a decent size and have a kitchen including a stove, refrigerator and microwave.  The beds were pretty comfortable and I had a relaxing quiet stay.  They do serve free breakfast snacks and fruit in the morning like Otis Spunkmeyer muffins, Nutrigrain bars, yogurt, bananas.  When we came back late afternoon we were greeted to warm chocolate chip cookies in the lobby.  The staff people were also nice, I would definitely stay there again.

Hosted a small Christmas appetizer dinner two days ago. The room was pretty big, I finally found a hotel with an oven!  Very clean, affordable, and pet friendly. They have apples like the Larkspur Hotels in Sunnyvale and Milpitas, so I did my usual apple hording routine. I took some free Minute Maid orange juice and fruit punch, too.
