5 reviews for Towneplace Suites by Marriott Denver Downtown
OK, I've stayed in a TON of extended stay hotels and I can safely say that this is the best one so far. I don't know what kind of prices these other reviewers paid, but we found this hotel on http://Hotwire.com so we paid $60 for our night here.
I will start off by saying that this hotel is not hard to FIND, it's hard to access. We had our GPS guiding our way through the streets of Denver but it turns out the one access point to the north side of the parking lot is under construction so you can't get on it. All of the streets that surround this hotel are one way so it takes a few tries to actually get in position to get in the parking lot. However, we did that once and had no other problems after.
The customer service here really is above and beyond anything I've experienced in extended stay hotels. Though our stay was not extended (just one night), we felt like we were in a nice hotel. Most extended stay employees are a bit indifferent and rude (maybe because they hate the clientele? I don't know) and we experienced the opposite at the TownePlace. We were greeted warmly, checked in quickly and even given a nice map of places within walking distance of the hotel to get food and groceries.
The hotel itself is very, very clean. It actually smells really, really nice (I'm sure due to the air fresheners in the hallway) and it is obviously recently remodeled. Our room was small but really cozy - there was a couch, TV with cable, small kitchenette, queen size bed and big bathroom. The kitchenette was stocked with pots, pans, plates, etc. and a good sized fridge so you can buy some groceries if you are staying in Denver for awhile.
Complimentary "take and go" continental breakfast was nice and exactly what I would have expected - coffee, bagels, cereals, etc. It's a hotel so it's obviously not going to be a five star, three course meal, but it's still good nonetheless. I'd recommend to anyone coming to Denver, especially if you're planning on staying more than three or so nights. The extended stay option really allows opportunity to save money because you can cook most of your meals here. Nice staff, very clean and a free parking lot. Awesome.
Oh, and did I mention there's free Internet access? Yep, free. Free Wifi all over the hotel in each suite, free wired if that's your thing AND a free computer on the first floor with printer access. I love free Internet, so this is my kind of place.

Come on...this place isn't half bad for what it is. Is it a 5 star resort? No. But it is comfortable and clean. I didn't pay close to $200 a night, cut that price in half...there is special pricing for Denver Health visitors/clients. It only takes 10 minutes to town and to Cherry Creek, and is also within walking distance to a number of decent restaurants.
The service here is exceptional, which is important. The rooms are a nice size, with not a kitchenette...but a full kitchen, a small one, but a full one. It has an oven, stovetop, microwave, fridge, all plates/utensils/pots/pans, etc. Fully equipped for a long-term stay. It has a rather large desk for working, a couch and chair.
Wireless connections in room as well as wired, and a very comfortable bed. Nice comforter and pillows. Granite countertops throughout. It is basic but it is nice, and it is comfortable. I would stay here again.
If you are looking for luxury this isn't it but if you are looking for a basic, comfortable place to stay at a decent rate this would be the place.

Very Close to downtown Denver and Cherry Creek. Newer hotel with full-size kitchens. I've only stayed here when using points. This was the closest location to downtown that required the least amount of points per stay. The staff is friendly. There's a section in the lobby that you can purchase snacks with cash or add it to your bill.

I had to go to Denver for some business meetings downtown and apparently there was a firefighters' convention so all the downtown hotels were either sold out or over $400 a night. I found this hotel on the Marriott site and it was $229 a night and $218 with a 5% AAA discount (I try to save the company some money whenever I can!) It was still pricey considering that Towneplace Suites is the less expensive brand of the Marriott family. Then again, beggars can't be choosers when there is a convention in town.
Don't be fooled by the inclusion of "Denver Downtown" in the name - it's not really in the downtown area. Luckily I looked it up before going and rented a car. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to the true downtown area but it wasn't too bad. The rooms are pretty basic and has a little kitchenette, which would be convenient for longer stays. My coworker complained that the smell of disinfectant was really strong in her room but it wasn't too bad in mine. All in all, it certainly wouldn't be my first place to stay the next time I'm back in Denver, but it is an okay choice if all the downtown hotels are taken or are too expensive.

Finding this hotel is a major pain in the neck. There's no signage and you have to use some hidden service road. Once you get there, it doesn't get much better. They have renovated, but once you see their rooms you wonder what they looked like before. A noisy wall unit A/C and an old miniature TV made this an experience I'd rather forget. Should've stayed at the Downtown Marriott.
