Love this trashy little dive bar in Chico.

We lovingly call it the Scrounge, like so many others. This is a great place to kick off your St. Patty's Day, at 6am, with a cheap brew. Oh, and get this, the last St. Patty's I spent there, people brought in their own breakfast (Hot Pockets) and they made them in the microwave for them. Hilarious!

This place isn't nearly as popular as the other bars nearby, so it's a more laid back atmosphere. And, 5'2" girls like myself won't get trampled trying to get a beverage at the bar!

Whenever I'm in Chico, this place is on my list.

Barely eye-catching, this bar caters to a specific crowd and that is definitely not young, outgoing people. The vibe is very dungy and the drinks are horrible. I ordered a bourbon to sip on and was served jim-beam in a shot glass. That alone told me about the nature of this place.

It isn't as if I spent a few minutes here, I was here with a few friends who I really like hanging out with so I did not want to leave but the experience was crass for what makes a bar.

A standout was the service from the bartenders. They were polite and efficient with a smile. The bartender apologized for not changing my soda sooner, even if it wasn't finished. Excellent service.

The bar needs an upgrade and the drinks need some propping up but the owner should be aware of that since the bar was barely full on a saturday night.

2 stars for the service. 1 for the nice seats.

Meh. I am not sure what else to say beyond that. I went to the lounge for YEARS and it's just fizzled out for me. The majority of my friends also no longer go there. I have a towne lounge shaped hole in my heart now :(

Gross bar and if you want cheap drinks you can get them cheaper at Duffy's. No beers on tap and they have to shine a flashlight on their selection of beers to show you what they have. Kind of a weird gross older crowd. Your'e better of at U-Bar or Duffys if you're itching for a dive.

This dive bar has a few things going for it. Most importantly there are friendly servers, who pour the drinks good and strong (especially if they like you). There is a pool table in the back, but be warned, everyone in the back is serious about their pool as evidenced by the line of personal cue sticks they all keep above the bar - and they will unapologetically whoop any unsuspecting strangers.
There are a few creepy guys in there, but that's the case in most dive bars, and it just gives a guy a good excuse to step in and save the girl. Save the girl from the creepy weird guy, buy her a drink and you might have a new friend...
There is also parking around the corner for the designated driver. There is a place in the front where bands can set up and play, but all of the music I have heard so far has been overly loud and not very good, and they also have a few video screen games. I wish they had darts or some other type of bar game though, so I'm docking them a star for that. As far as dive bars in Chico go, this one's not bad.

a-ok is a good description. however this bar is probably a 5 star compared to the rest of chico.

above average juke box, good drinks, and shuffleboard.

i think my only problem was with the town of chico itself

This place is creepy. LOL. We went here twice to get a drink, mostly beer, and it was cheap, but the people in here are definitely the TRUE LOCALS who are down on their luck. Not a place to go if you want to party or celebrate your 21st birthday, but definitely the place to come to after a break up.

Great bar if you feel like slimming it in Chico. Cheap drinks and always a lot of characters populate this dim lit bar.

This is a hometown kinda dive bar that's seems sorta out of place in downtown Chico with all it's college bars, however I like it there. Nice bartenders. Ask to play the PBR game...

aka "towne scrounge", this place is a great dive bar. Oly is cheap, and you can smoke in here. Most are die-hard locals and the pool players are there to whoop some ace.
