I have been coming to Town Spa pizza since I was a little girl and still hike out to Stoughton to come here. Pair a greek salad with a pizza (anchovy for me - the best!) and you'll discover the magic of Town Spa. The pizza's are so sinfully good, you have to eat the whole thing! Drinks are cheap and they have Sam Seasonal on draft. Works for me.

Bring your kids. Bring your grandparents. Bring cash!

Their pizza is spectacular if you are into bar-style pizzas. The rest of their food is very good as well. The only downside is that they only accept cash, while they do have an ATM located in the restaurant you get hosed for $2 to use it.

Everyone compares this place to Lynwoods in Randolph.  I definitely see the simularity.  But, I like this place better.  I like the fact you can get a salad with your pizza and I also like the fact that this place is not dingy and dark.

It has lots of tables and has plenty of room.  LOTS of parking and the pizza is really good.  They have tons of pizza flavors way more than Lynwoods.

I love the salad here. The dressing is delicious. I also have had the buffalo wings.  Which is also very good.
Pizza list as of 10/08
Plain                     $6.45
Buffalo sauce     $6.45
Sweet and sour sauce     $6.85
Barb. Sauce        $6.85

Mushroom           $7.25
Pepperoni             $7.25

Feta (white no sauce)  $6.95
Feta/cheddar (no sauce)   $7.45
Feta/sliced tomato (no sauce   $8.05

Give it a try.  My favorite is Buffalo chicken, of course.  Usually there is definitely a wait on the weekends..So if you order take out..plan early.  If you want to sit-down get there early, too!

Town Spa Pizza is popular among the locals as well as students who use it as a hang out spot.  Its prices have slightly gone up .50 - $1ish with the average pizza running at slightly over 8.  I've been going to Town Spa for over the last 4 years, and its always been good.  Their appetizer sampler is a greasy combination of their fried clam strips, chicken strips, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, and onion rings.  Usually its mainly onion rings and fried clam strips with maybe 2 of each other item.  Their crinkle cut fries are thick, but don't stand out as spectacular fries.  I see them more as a vehicle to eat their honey mustard, which is just simply amazing.  Extra orders of honey mustard are $1.

Personally I like to get their linguica pizza and smother it with red pepper flakes, powdered cheese, and Tabasco sauce.  During peak hours be sure to order your pizza extra crispy as the crust may come softer than usual.

Town Spa is cheap fast greasy and good.

Note:  Parking does fill up during peak hours, so get there before the rush or wait for later in the night, as Town Spa is open until midnight.

Highly recommended.

Saying that Town Spa serves the best pizza is like saying Crescent Ridge Dairy has the best cow manure.  This stuff might make a great fertilizer but you wouldn't want to eat it.

This thing they call a pizza is like a giant cracker with tomato sauce, cheese and grease.  Why wait in line for over an hour when you can make a better version at home in your toaster oven in less than 5 minutes?  All you need are some saltines, ketchup and processed cheese.  Mmmm, gourmet greatness...to any 3 year old.

I really want to write a one word review.   This place is ripe with mediocrity from the food to the decor.  I don't understand why townies love it so much but they do.  Oh they do.

So I didn't right a one word review, but if I did, it would have been this word:

Meh.

I've eaten at pizza places all over the US, but Town Spa still remains one of my favorite two pizza places in the country (along with Prince in Saugus).  I grew up in the area and ate here almost weekly for 15 years (usually got take out actually).  This place is justly packed, especially on weekends.

The ambiance leaves much to be desired, but the pizza is the star here.  I love the thin crust, and the excellent sauce is what I think makes the pizza stand out.  Their crinkle cut french fries are fantastic too- huge and crispy.  I've never had pasta or subs here but I understand they are not so good.

Last year I had the pleasure of bringing my southern belle wife to Town Spa, and she loved it.  I only wish they had this type of pizza in Atlanta.

This Patriot Ledger review is spot on:

This place is seriously overrated. I have to think all the positive reviewers must not get out too much (not surprising considering the area). Their pizza is simply OK - certainly nothing special. Other food tends to be greasy. Service generally sucks. The decor is dated and the place has poor acoustics (if it's anywhere near crowded, be prepared to yell to be heard).

Please, please forgive me.... Do not send hate mail.

Every South-of-Boston-Bostonian raves about Town Spaaa. It's been around for a million years, same owners, people grew up eating the pizza (the natives never leave.) Plus, they can buy lotto tickets from a machine here and cash in the winners, (sooo Mass.)

I was open, of course, to trying the classic spots in my new (temporary) town. I went here about 6-7 times with urging of friends/colleagues and every time I was let down by the food/staff/service/people/football/beer drinkers/frat boys/girls with Red Sox jerseys/ladies with big hair/etc.

Here is the main reason I am so bitter: The second to last time I went was with a true native. He reminisced about how when he was a child, this place would put anything on their pizzas. His sister's favorite was pickles.

Having not been to Atlanta in quite a few years, I was in the mood for a good green olive pizza (sliced horizontally, not vertically...big difference). I asked the server, who was new, if I could order green olives and she said they only have black olives. My friend suggested using green olives from the bar. The place was (unusually) dead, so she said "sure, I have some time." It was still the drab tasteless boring Town Spa pizza but the olives were a nice touch. We thanked her profusely and tipped her generously.

The next time I came I asked for the same pizza. I was told I could only order off the menu. My same friend said that I was able to get green olives from the bar during our last visit. The server looked at me horrified and with a furious tone said, "oh you're thaaat girl, you know she almost lost hu job for thaat."

The rest of the night, the staff were whispering and pointing at our table and no one would speak to us. I felt mortified. All I could think of was the big-haired waitress with the Red Sox earrings almost losing her job and not being able to feed her kids.

I still use a big plastic cup from Town Spa and it will hold a special place in my heart as a reminder of the year I spent in Boston, but it's a shame the place is run by ***** (fill in the blank with your choice word).

I don't get the haterzzzzz.   I live in Quincy near the famous Alumni, and I'm even motivated to go to Town Spa for pizza on occasion.  And I hate the car more than anything!  But this is true thin and crispy classic bar pizza, mecca!

The pizza is thin, crispy and yummy.  The wine by the bottle is so cheap it's unreal for a restaurant.  The greek salad is to die for.  I wish I wasn't watching my weight, I'd get fries too.  I don't eat dead cow, but I have heard the hamburgers are great.

My only complaint is toppings.  How can you have spinach for the spinach salad but be unwilling to put it on the pizza if asked?  Hello?!  Maybe this has changed (I haven't been there in many months, hibernating).

It's always busy, and if you're looking for a romantic evening with a hovering waitress, forget it.  If you want awesome food for a pretty reasonable price, this is the place.

Major tip:  Do the "pizza pat."  Your mouth and arteries will thank you.  Gently pat the grease off with many napkins (being careful not to pick up the cheese/toppings with it).  People will stare at you, and the waitress may think you're high maintenance asking for extra napkins, but the pizza goes from somewhat greasy and wet to heaven on earth.  Another tip for those who like it less greasy and like crispy crust: order yours done "extra crispy."

Pizza, always on my mind!

Perfect pub style pizza. Get it cooked "crispy" with a side greek salad and a cold beer and you will be in heaven. They have especially excellent BBQ Chicken and Buffalo Chicken pizzas.

Great waitstaff and bartenders. Big screen projector for sports at the bar. Hard to ask for more from a local bar.

The only place in the area that I will routinely travel back to just to eat at.

A big bucket of grease. Overdone, overrated, and totally shitty. I've eaten here three times and thrown up afterward all three times. I'm not even joking about that, either. Gross, disgusting, awful, insert synonym here.

Explode into smithereens, Town Spa, and make me happy. I honestly don't know why all the locals rave about this place. Maybe it's the crack cocaine that they put in the honey mustard sauce.

Ok,  This might possibly be the most overrated (he he) pizza in the world. As a friend of mine puts it, "It's a glorified celeste."  I have to say that growing up in the area I was influenced and convinced that is was good pizza. Townies love this joint but the truth is these townies have never left the south shore and tried anything else. A great work of propaganda it is.  You may say, "well, you can't beat the price." This pizza is not even cheap anymore!
I do admit there is one shining star in this lackluster local favorite and that is the lingucia pizza. Sweet Jesus it is good.
So please take off your Patriots hat and that Champion swearshirt that is over your white turtleneck and go find a new place to get your pizza. I am not bitter I just have taste buds. : )
Yay me!

Really good bar food.  That's what I'd call it.  It's affordable too. Everyone that's grown up in the area will swear by the pizza, but it's not my favorite.  It is good though and for the price it can't be beat.  Other favorites?  Greek salad, onion rings, french fries & chicken fingers (with honey mustard).

Only con?  No free refills on soda and they serve the soda in an 8-10oz plastic cup, but you can buy pitchers.

Having grown up in Stoughton, I've experienced how the townies RAVE about Tspa. My whole life, I wondered about the fuss.

Everything on the menu is decent, at best. Nothing is terrible, everything just makes the cut of 'okay'.  The pizza is good (it's pretty hard to mess up pizza), but there's definitely better pizza in the area.

Salads are pretty standard, as are the sandwiches.  You won't find anything special, it's mostly just a place for townies to hang out.  The french fries are pretty good though.

Quality pizza! I also had a Greek salad here which was very nice. Lots of cheese! Always good in my book. I can only really speak for the take out, but the service was fast, the girls at the counter were friendly and it was pretty nice and cool and clean inside. Very reasonable prices. The pizzas, which are kind of small and remind me a bit of the individual pan pizzas at places like Pizza Hut and Uno's were about $6-7 and the salad, large enough for two people to share with the pizza, was a mere $5. Also, they have extremely delicious onion rings and tasty fries.

My only complaint. What's up with all the lottery stuff? Personally, I think the lottery is pretty evil and I didn't really like seeing all this lotto stuff while waiting for my food.

I grew up in Stoughton and still live close enough to pick up a pizza. I'm going to fall more in line with Mark S. in terms of considering the Town Spa God's pizza joint on earth.

I was 10-11ish when the Spa moved from its original location near the Stoughton Police Dept to its current location on Rt138. So i do remember the days of the old-school crusts which gave them their reputation. Once they moved to the new location in the mid-80's, their popularity boomed and it became no different than a large chain's assembly-line of pies. The crust is where i feel the current Town Spa pizzas are lacking and probably the only part of the process that has changed drastically.

In this area, there's a constant volley between Spa fans and Lynwood Cafe fans. I'm of the opinion that a Town Spa Linguica top with a Lynwood crust would be ideal. Hmm...maybe i'll try that one of these days....

The pizza here is good and so are the fries.  Not great, but very good.  The wait is excessive at any given time and nothing else really excites me about this place.  They don't take credit card but do have an ATM onsite.

I know a few people who LOVE this place, but Town Spa doesn't do it for me.  For pizza in this area I would take the Lynwood over Town Spa any day (and twice on Sunday).

honestly the best thing about this place is their honey mustard sauce.  I've NEVER been a fan of honey mustard before, but something about the kind they use just makes everything taste better!!  Seriously, its good with the chicken fingers, on the salad, with onion rings and even on the pizza (i know it sounds weird but try it!).
And if you are not a fan of honey mustard, still check the place out...fun environment (sometimes there are a lot of teenagers around) great food and cheap prices!  watch out tho, they dont take credit cards!!

Another very overrated place! Years ago when this was just a little hole in the wall just down the street from where it is now it was super! The place is very nice, and also very friendly bartenders, However the Pizza is awful! You can buy a frozen one at the store and make it better that this place, But it's the only Gig in town so that's why they do good. I always sit at the bar where ever I go because I am alone and I just feel better sitting there instead of at a table by myself.. If you want good Pizza Go to the Cape Cod Cafe or the Home Cafe in Brockton, It blows the Town Spa away. But if you just like a few drinks and maybe a sandwich And to shoot the breeze with others this place is fine for that!

Mark is right, their pizza is way overated. The Barbegue chicken pizza is the worst.  The other food is ok, club sandwiches, salads.  Townies love it because theres nothing else around unless you want to drive to Cape Cod Cafe in Brockton.  The best thing about this place is that the bartenders are all friendly and great people,, and the beer is cold.
Update- I just had the marinated chicked club and it was awesome.

Top 5 best pizza I've ever had.

The chicken fingers are great.  The "wing dings" are great.  The fries are great.  And of course, the pizza is great.

The pizza is bar size.  It's very nicely spiced.  The only pizza that I wouldn't get again from Town Spa would have to be the BBQ chicken.  The sauce is just not good.  The pizza is sometimes too greasy, but that's why they invented napkins.

But if you're looking for a cheese and/or pepperoni pizza, come here.

It's a love/hate thing.  You either love the pizza, or you don't.

This place and the pizza is not for me.  Maybe a bizarro Melissa in 1971 might like this pizza.  It was just not pizza-ish enough for me.  But, I guess when in Stoughton this is like the Cadillac of pizzas.  The service is just your run 'o the mill service and the servers range from teens to 40-something mamas.  I didn't like it here.  Thankfully, I don't go to Stoughton much so I know I won't be back!

Town Spa rests on its laurels. Back when it was in its original location on Canton Street, they had great pizza. Since they moved over to Rt. 138, it has never been the same. They got new ovens and left the old ones behind. Don't get me wrong, the pizza is ok, even good on occasion, but not GREAT.  The salads are pretty good, specifically the greek as well as the spinach salad.

My aunt has lived in Stoughton for my entire life (almost 28 years) and Town Spa has always been a staple for her. Her kids worked there, and it was the pizza by which all were judged. I remember liking it as a kid. I went back a few years ago when I worked in the area and tried it a few more times and it was good- but nothing special. If you're already in the area, then go for it- if you're not, then don't make the trip!

Town spaaaaaaa is probably the best Greek pizza I have had.  Some call it "Bar" style- but if it is made in a pan or not hand tossed and slid into an oven from a wooden pizza board and it has cheddar cheese- then it's GREEK.

I prefer Italian style- Regina's, Santarps, Bertucci's, Santucci's(Norwood-real good Italian pizza here) or even when desperate Papa Gino's.

But- I did enjoy the pizza at Town Spaaaa, but I don't think it would get all the hype if it didn't have the long history w/ the town.

Service is mediocre at best and the menu is painfully shallow for a full service restaurant.  But I will be back there again as it does offer a different and paletable pizza offering.

I've been going here since I was a kid. I hadn't gone for many adult years until recently, and it brought back all the good memories. Let's get to the point: Their personal pizzas are simply incredible, and their side salads are cute and do the trick. I haven't had their other food in quite a while but that's because I focus on the pizzas. The only downside to this place is that they don't accept credit cards!!! Which totally drives me up the wall. Also be careful about what time you arrives on the weekend because the wait can be killer. I'm glad this place is still around.

oh, town spa. ok - the pizza is good. it's not world class and it's not shit, either. i think the reason why it gets so much talk is because it's just different enough. they have one size pizzas, with some less common options like like bbq chicken, buffalo chicken, feta & tomato, etc. and all the usual suspects are there, too.

the decor is really dated, and the service is marginal at best. the beer was small. it was cold, but you know what? i want the beer to be colder than my soul on a monday in january floating in the arctic icepack.

I haven't ever tried anything but the pizza, but the rest of the menu seems pretty typical. they don't take credit/debit and that drives me completely batshit. they have a ghetto ass bob's brand ATM but i'm all set with that.

it can get really busy in there, too. i don't really feel like it's worth the wait, but if you can get right in and keep your expectations under control, give it a try.

You've never had pizza like Town Spa if you haven't had...well, Town Spa. It's not your typical pizza and it's not often you go out and order a pizza per person but we do and you will, if you go. You might run into a few people who have disliked the Spa...and no, it's not known for it's decor, it's a pizza place --- but it can seat you and your large party and they have TV's for the games. I've been eating here since high school. It was a hang out for us after football & hockey games and it's somewhere that is kid friendly AND satisfies the kid in everyone. The spa has salads, Greek is great as well as mozz sticks that I've been known to enjoy.

for the record, i hate pizza meat - all greasy and disgusting - trust me, just try a town spa pizza with hamburger, pepperoni, and pineapple - seriously trust me on this one.  if not, just try town spa pizza.  its the best in the world.

I love the pizza & Greek salads here.  They serve small thin crust style, but ask for it crispy or sometimes it's droopy.  They make a rockin bacon pizza.  I also really enjoy the turkey club sammy's.  This is a no frills kind of place, great for watching a game on the big tv & knocking back a few $2.00 beers.  HUGE wait on weekend nights though.
