Town of Index

Please don't go here. Terrible place. Really. Not at all one of the most breath-taking places I've seen. No quaint artisan charm here, nosiree. And a delightful mix of enviro-hippieism and small-town rural life? No way.
Try Skykomish. It's only a few miles more, and it even has the excitement of a *library*!
Seriously, though, I wish I would have been around back when the Bush House & restaurant were still open, just so I could be crestfallen that they're not around anymore. Heck, I am anyway.
I've never missed a place with absolutely nothing to do more.
Index, Washington is one of those hidden treasures of a town. The town itself is a mix of old depressed homes and new over priced builds, with very little commerce to speak of. Regardless, this is one of my favorite places on earth. The town sits right on the banks of the river at the base of the sheer face of Mt. Index. It is breathtaking. If I had the money, I would buy this town, buy everyone out and live there for the rest of my days. To me, it is incredible. I thought of buying and reviving the old Bush House. I think it was on the block for the low, low price of 700K. Unfortunately, it would take more than that to get the place in safe enough condition to open for business. There use to be a superb restaurant in the old place. Index is still unspoiled for the most part.
