Toshios used to be on Camp Wisdom and moved to this more upscale location a few years ago.  Great move!  The food has always been good and now the ambiance matches the sushi.

The sushi is always fresh and made to order.  No California rolls sitting around getting crispy on the edges.  I love their sushi.  Just fresh as it can be.  I've tried the tempura and it's good, plenty of crisp veggies and not greasy, thank goodness.  Their Miso soup is dependable and the service is great.  It's fun to go here for dinner as it is a quieter atmosphere than at their busy lunchtimes.  I have also had good luck with their take out sushi, too.  Their bar area is dark and a nice place to have a drink before dinner or before going home from work if you are so inclined.

The Food:
I love sushi and I am quite a snob when it comes to eating it too. I have been to a lot of high end places and nothing compares to this place! I recommend their spicy crunchy tuna roll. It is covered with a  spicy mayonnaise sauce  with a nice touch of tempura surrounding the rolls.  Just describing this makes me salivate. I usually get this with miso soup which contains tofu and seaweed. The tempura is so good! It is nicely battered and not greasy like other restaurants are known for. Also, for those who are not into sushi and are humoring those who want to try this new restaurant I recommend ordering a dinner menu. You can't go wrong by ordering skewers (chicken or meatballs) and they come with salad and rice.

The atmosphere:
This is truly a gem. Sometimes I wonder why it is in downtown Duncanville while the restaurant looks like it should belong in uptown.  There's a sushi bar in the middle of the restaurant and to the right there's a small bar for those who like to dine by themselves while reading a book or just to have a couple of beers. There's also a nice patio for those who like to enjoy the nice weather, and on Fridays and Saturdays there's usually a live band out there. So, if you happen to live near I-20 and don't feel like driving all the way to downtown to impress your date...I recommend on trying this place. Both of you will surely be impressed with the decor, but more importantly the delicious food.

Enjoy!

Everyone in my office decided to order from here, so I got some "chicken cutlets" (tonkatsu) from the lunch menu. It comes with rice and salad (not mentioned on the menu online?). The chicken was pretty moist inside but some parts were a little too crispy. The rice was gross, not sure how you mess up rice, but whatever. The salad was regular..the dressing was like mayo with sesame seeds.
The serving size is good and they make a point about keeping everything separate--little containers for each sauce and they gave us oranges too!

The is a nice little place to enjoy some good food and some music..

This was a place to enjoy some pretty decent sushi.. but since my friends into it we just enjoy a good time with food.. As you can tell from the pictures.. you get a pretty fair amount of food for the price.. It was pretty darn good.. and if you couldnt tell.. I did enjoy some tempura shrimp..and it was tasty!! The meatball were good and the sauce was out of this world.. pretty good I say..

The sushi is freshly made and can be prepared in front of ya if you choose to seat where they prepare it..

The cali rolls.. which I'm a fan..was pretty darn good!! The sake was darn good was well.. and man..if you havent tried plum wine..it was amazing.. the bartender even told us they brought it from the wine shop a few stores down.. Now that is what I call awesome inside info!!

This place gets CRAZY busy for lunch, so go early.

The sushi is great, and they have other menu options for people who don't want to eat raw fish.  I like getting the sushi lunch specila.  I think it's $10 and you get 4 pieces of sushi, a small roll and miso.

It's strange to have an awesome sushi place in the middle of Duncanville, but there it is.

When it comes to sushi, I tend to get a little picky. But I think that is true for all. Toshio's is definitely one of my favorite sushi places. TomTom in West Village used to be a favorite until I had Toshio's. Monday-Friday there is an awesome special! It's (with tax) $10.77 for three different rolls and each roll has 6-9 pieces. Don't forget to try the vegetable tempura-this is definitely my favorite tempura. They also have amazing teas and cheesecake from cheesecake factory.
The only reason Toshio's does not receive 5 stars from me is because the location is a little hidden and the atmosphere doesn't really fit how amazing the food is.

Enjoy sushi like "Mama san" used to make!!!
Toshio's is a great restaurant for something out of the ordinary.  I went once and got addicted.  Their sushi is the best I've had in a long time.

You can chat with friends as you sit out on the patio and enjoy live music on Friday and Saturday nights.  I like to sit at the bar and have some Watermelon Vodka with my  California roll.

The prices are great the ambiance is awesome and the service is impeccable.

This place has a nice atmosphere. It's a nice place to hang out with friends. I feel the food was overpriced for what's its worth. Service and food are ok.
