This is one of those restaurants you can just walk into and order food without meaning to. You can be walking through Crossroads Mall, doing whatever shopping you need to do, when suddenly you realize that you're in front of Torero's.
"Obviously," you will say to yourself, "this is why I came to Crossroads in the first place."
And then, as naturally as grass grows and mountains just sit there, you will peruse the menu, enjoying basically anything that they have to offer (as long as you're not allergic to it).
The cantina area is more fun to watch than to be in, so I'd reccommend sitting out in the more common area. On a related note, this is one of the only places I'd say people should bring their kids. I think the reason I feel this way is Torero's is in a mall, where the downtrodden masses will ALWAYS be dragging around their parasitic offspring; plus there's enough noise from the other people passing by that individual screaming crotch-goblins can be drowned out.
If you're not into mexican food, you can still eat here. Get the chicken quesadillas. They're tasty and they are very unlikely to offend your palate, even if you normally avoid mexican food for that reason. They're rich and filling and I believe I'll say it again to make sure you got it: They're tasty.
For those with the ability to eat more than one thing, the menu here will keep you busy for a while trying out new things.
They lost one star because the mall allows children. Sorry.

Darn those food shows. I was craving the artery clogging arroz con pollo after seeing a contestant chef cooked it on Top Chef last week. I went to Crossroads knowing exactly what I wanted. It did not disappoint. The arroz con pollo had the right amount of greasiness, that is cheesiness with big chunks of chicken and mushroom. The tortillas were steamy hot. Torero's is one of the busiest food stand at the Crossroad food court with good reason.

Well, I got what I wanted: "comfort" tex-mex food.
I got a chicken enchilada and a side of rice and beans, which ended up coming to $6 something (as opposed to a 2 enchilada platter which was a good $9). It was good, but nothing outstanding (exactly what I was looking for). The beans were decent, enchilada had white meat chicken though an almost complete lack of sauce, and the rice was godawful -- crispy in some places and literally zero flavor.
Also, there was what appeared to be a 12 year old girl (or maybe boy) manning the cash registers; is that even legal? o_o

They call it Torero's Taqueria but it is in fact a Mexican Restaurant and Cantina right in the food court at Crossroads Mall.
Torero's has some of the biggest and tastiest burritos I've ever had--rather like Gordito's in Greenwood. The super veggie is filled with zucchini, carrots, bell peppers, onions, beans, cheese, rice, and you name it. It's in there, with sour cream and guacamole. There also have great taco salads, horchata (which I haven't seen offered by other places), and a separate little eating area where you can watch the latest Mexican news or football game (That's football as in soccer, which is what the rest of the world calls football). There's always a line forming or there will be, but service is quick and the food is great.
