i ONLY go to tony for my nails - he does an amazing job with pink and whites and makes it super natural looking
i have tried some of their other technicians- but none of them compare to tony- when i go in for a fill- he basically takes EVERYTHING off and gives you a fresh set- so no lines - no lifting. he's super meticulous- knows what hes doing and is quick.
i ONLY go to lily for my pedis' shes super cute and super nice- and is super detail oriented.
it took me a loooonggg time to find "the one" in the valley - and im sticking to what works! -
you cant leave tip on your cc - so bring cash for your tip.
appointment is heavily recommended.
this place is the BOMB! I cant go anywhere to have my nails done. I always ask for Vicky or My for my Pedi and MiMi for my manicure. These people are the best! I dont understand why other complaint for anything...Gee!! No one is perfect!! It there's any charged you found or they charged you..that is something that probably mis communication!! I dont listen to any Negativity!!!!!!!I jut LOVE this place.
If you really want to have a great pedicure ask for Jenny. She takes care of every detail. She is sweet and doesn't push for any add ons. I like that she takes me late after my long day at work. Owning my own spa its nice to be taken care, and I recommend her for sure.
They charged me extra for unnecessary services....
I will not go back there again!
I really wish I had read the reviews before going. I called ahead to check their prices and availability and was told I could walk-in and it'd be $32 for a mani-pedi. That's a little on the high side, but reasonable since I work just down the street and could easily walk over.
First of all, it's very cramped inside and they seemed very disorganized. I had to wait almost 20 minutes to get service (even though I had JUST CALLED AHEAD and was told to walk on over).
Both ladies who worked on me (one for pedicure, the other for the manicure), kept trying to upsell me on all their unnecessary add-ons. What's worse is that they speak VERY BROKEN English and are hard as hell to understand or ask questions to.
I kept saying NO, I JUST WANT THE REGULAR SERVICE, but they went on and on and kept asking me "Yu wun dis ...?" for every possible extra they offer. When they asked if I wanted a quick feet and leg massage I said sure (this is a standard thing, which has been INCLUDED with every mani-pedi I've ever had). Well, guess what... IT'S EXTRA HERE!!! WTF?!?!
So they upsold me without my knowledge ($45 in the end, instead of $32), they harassed me the whole HOUR I was there about upselling me, and frankly the whole experience was pretty terrible. I will never go back to this crappy nail salon. BTW, I did not tip them... and because of that, as I was leaving I had 2 people ask me "Is everything OK? The lady and the manager both asked me this. I simply told them I was late and needed to get back to work.
Top Ten is great if you see Jenny for a pedicure. She takes care of your feet and is thorough.
They're pricier than others, but they use new, sterilized tools and brand new pumice scrubs with each customer.
However, I've been there TWICE for an APPOINTMENT and was told, "ooh, Jenny with another customer. You come back?" The man who schedules the appointments sucks. The other person there who schedules is the woman and she speaks good English and seems to be better with the scheduling. If you call and get the man, BEWARE.
2 stars for a decent job BUT: I agree with everyone else on here. The service was terrible! The ladies kept pushing for add ons. The tech who did my pedicure showed the other techs her tip and laughed at those other techs who recevied less than she! And right in front of me!! So rude! There are so many other places to try.
My pedicurist was awesome, but my manicurist was an absolute b*tch (she's young, maybe early 20s, sort of attractive, looks chinese, thin). she was checking her cell phone the entire time, she did a terrible job, there were bubbles on 4 of my 10 nails. when i asked her to re-do the worst one (i didnt even ask her to fix all of them b/c she seemed so disinterested and annoyed that she had to do her job), she was visibly upset and she didnt even take off the nail polish to start over, she just glopped more on top and then walked away. also, her arm/hand massage was half-ass, the worst i ever had.
i went home and immediately took off my nail polish. sad.
Like ohmigod, would you believe the first time I got a mani pedi was like in the Valley? And like NORTH of the Boulevard! Tootally! Way!
I would never go get my nails done -- I can do them myself -- yeah, I'm comfortable with my inner Goth -- yeah, I did my girlfriends' nails, thank you very much. But paying some Vietnamese lady money to wait on me hand and foot...?
Er, well, yeah. Maybe I was just giving it up for free...
I'm a little biased. I know all the owners. It took lots of convincing, but I went in to give their shop a try.
Being all super OCD about cleanliness -- I'm comfortable in my OCD-ness, thank you very much, could you please pass me the hand sanitizer, please don't touch me, thanks... -- the one thing I cannot stand about the overwhelming majority of the nail parlors out there is their poor hygiene practices. Top Ten is cleaner than I am. Everything is used once, then cleaned. The spas are cleaned between each use. Their towels are both bleached and UV sterilized on site between each use. They've even got an attendant on duty whose full-time job is to keep the place sanitized. Seriously OCD clean.
I've been here several times over the past few years. There's well over a dozen stations and the place is always packed. I've dropped by to grab boba or Starbucks next door and they're busy even at nine at night. Thankfully they take reservations.
I go for manicures and massages -- pedicures push that metro line to somewhere over the rainbow. ;) They also do facials and waxing, all the usual. They also all speak English -- perfect for me, as my Vietnamese is pretty much limited to ordering at restaurants.
If you're ever in like, the Valley, and ohmigod, you so broke a nail, here's the perfect place with ample parking to get the job done before you go buy some new shoes, then have dinner at the mall with your girlfriends to chit the chat about the new boys of the week. Totally.
P.S.
Jen, hun -- if you can't tell the difference between leather and vinyl, do you really know what quality is...? And obviously, if the place was packed and busy with happy customers, sure, everyone else there must have been crazy and high off the nail fumes. Everyone but you.
As for the space -- I saw your pic. You're not a big girl. There's more than enough room for you and a dozen other customers, so I really don't know what you're complaining about. Dim? Not enough light? If there was more light, you'd need to wear sunglasses inside.
Oh. Wait. L.A. Now I understand.
Take off your shades.
Wow. You can see now. Like magic, right?
You're welcome.
=)
Dear first reviewer for Top Ten Nails,
YOU WERE WRONG!
Maybe the place was clean when it first opened maybe, i dunno, 10 years ago, but I know that of all the nail salons I've seen and been to, this was hands down the worst.
Right as I walked in, I was greeted by a heavy whiff of chemicals. Once inside, the place looked and felt like a factory - dim lighting, cramped spacing, and overall dismal. While choosing a polish color, I had to move several times because of the narrow walkway. There were a lot of nail stations (the small place packed with them, in fact), but the quality of seating and equipment was poor. The plastic vinyl seats definitely felt like plastic vinyl seats.
So I thought, despite the scenery, maybe they do good work. But the experience was just as disappointing. Getting your nails done is supposed to be a relaxing experience, but I felt rushed the entire time. My nails were ruined before I got to the car because there was no where for me to sit and let them fully dry.
The fact that this place seems to be always busy is disturbing, because it means that quality nail salons must be scarce around here.
I am sure I will not go back, and my search for a well-ventilated, well-lit nail salon in the valley continues...
I agree with everyone that this place is the worst. They did a crappy job on my nails and yes they tried to add extra fees that i did not ask for. DONT GO THERE LADIES!
I used to love going there and getting my Mani's and Pedi's, it was very relaxing! Until, oh, about this past sat where i will NEVER go there again!!
My sister, Sister-in-law and I went to go and recieve some services! They kept on adding services after services without asking. I thought, "oh hey, they added more to the spa pedicure"....turns out, the total was 101 for two F*****g pedicures..sure my sister got a nail design and we both got extra ten minute massages...but ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS?? ...Point of my B******g is that.. they OVER CHARGE...The price chart says $27..clearly $27 and $27 doesn't even come close to being $100..they asked what was wrong and I told them, they cant add on services without asking and expect customers to pay a large amount of money and that they also need to stay true to their chart..if its not $27 then they need to change their chart. I USED to love going there.. now? NOT SO MUCH!!..
