4 reviews for Top Nails
I have been to nail salons all over the city and this is by far, the best. I tend to beat my nails up - they usually don't last more than a day or two, at best. But Top Nails manicures always last me at least a week and a half, to two weeks.
Getting there isn't as convenient for me as some of the nail salons closer to my house, but I go out of my way to get there. The women there are friendly, remember me by name and face. I highly recommend.
I settled into Lan as my official acrylic nail tech after trying many other salons when I came to Seattle. She does meticulous, solid work and perfectly styles my nails in my vintage oval style. Many other salons did not understand this and finding Lan was very comforting. Observing the business as I get my fills and pedi's: They work their butts off to fit everyone in and not keep customers waiting. They have a very diverse clientele and everyone is comfortable with each other. This is a small business I am proud to support because they appreciate my business!
I went to this nail salon on recommendation from two people from http://seattle.livejou... who raved about Lan. I went in to get a fill and some maintenance on my acrylic nails and lucked to be sitting at Lan's station. It wasn't the fastest or cheapest nail fill I've had, but the outcome was solid, and she spent a good amount of time hand-filing, not using a dremel (though she did use a dremel initially.)
After a week of wearing the nails, I had to edit my original review. Sometimes I like to refresh my nail polish on my own, and the french airbrushing I had gotten had chipped off of my nails in a week, making them look ragged. It took soaking my nails in acetone to remove just the nail polish, and it seemed to take forever just to get to a point where I could apply a basic coat of nail polish. I noticed just today that one of the nails that had been mended had lifted off. This is not uncommon from my previous experiences with acrylics, but I had gotten used to a higher standard after going to Vana Nails in Tacoma.
I was disappointed, but overall, I still think the initial product was good, and when I get future acrylics, I will likely come back to Top Nails.
I've been going to Top Nails for acrylic nails and pedicures for 6 years now. I don't think I would consider going anywhere else. Ann and Lan are great, but the entire staff is knowledgeable and extremely nice. Here's what I like specifically:
1. They shape my acrylics so they are thin and look like real nails.
2. When I have French manicures, they make the French tip thin (per my request) so that again, they look more natural. (I REALLY hate thick looking acrylics with a French tip that comes halfway down the nail bed. YUCK! I believe this is the style favored by Pamela Anderson and Britney Spears. Need I say more?
3. I have never had a problem with my nails coming off or the polish chipping too early.
4. They are VERY reasonably priced for the quality of the work. I believe my fills are $19. Pedicures are $20.
5. I really like the staff. The same women have been there since I started going and it's kind of comforting, not to mention I don't have to explain what I want each time I go in.
