Great lunch special, for a great price-- definitely better value than many on Park St. The lunch includes a lot (2 pages) of solid options, and includes soup, rice, salad, and main.
We really liked how the lunch options are mains from the regular dinner menu and allow you to eat many of their signature dishes. The variety and price for lunch menus is quite hard to beat.
The service is very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is great.
Toomies is a long time Alameda favorite. Consistently good.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 937128568Mar 13, 20242 check-ins
We've seen our server before and he is super attentive. I asked his name this time but I forget. He is pretty young looking.
The atmosphere is clean, authentic, and immerses visitors into the Thai culture. Seating is spaced out and bathroom is placed in the far back hallway.
Food is excellent here as we discovered via Yelp & have been back a few times since. We decided to stray from our atypical chicken/shrimp combo pad Thai and my tofu pad see ew. We tasted:
Mango Curry with Shrimp
Curry was a bit thinner than we're used to; similar to liquid milk. We checked in with server but he said it is normal. It was super flavorful with an authentic kick. Simply the aroma alone of the dish will have you hooked! Fresh chunks of mango inside plus, perfectly poached shrimp deveined and de-tailed.
Pad Phrik Khing Signature Dish with Shrimp, mild
Excellent flavor fusion with Malaysian and Thai spices. Again, bold aroma accented all the senses to enjoy my meal. Requested mild but still pretty spicy. Still doable for my acid reflux and worth it regardless. Sauce was more on the gravy side than liquidy, which is what I prefer so I was happy with its consistency. Shrimp was perfectly poached, and string beans were nicely braised. Would order again!
Thai Tea, light ice
To quench our thirst, you can't go wrong with a Thai Tea drink to top off that lovely Thai meal.
We were offered brown, white, or sticky rice to order as an additional charge to our meal. We opted for 2 bowls of white rice and it paired perfectly. Rice was cooked well with a nice texture to the chew; not wet mushy or too dry crunchy.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 9, 2023
What a great place for snacks!
5 star food amd service all around.
Great roti with dipping sauce. Great eggrolls, great thai tea, and awesome mango sticky rice.
Met my coworker for appetizers and I would come back again for their food any day.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 26, 2023
From delicious food, amazing service, and such a comfy vibe ambiance, I highly recommend checking this place out when you're in the Alameda area!
I love how the appetizers and soup are served first before the meal. Once we finished the appetizer and soup, the kitchen is notified to serve us the main dishes. This is great, because if all the food came out at once, I would've been super overwhelmed and full really quick by just looking at the food. Everything was served fresh and hot which is awesome! The portion for everything was definitely good for sharing with another person!
They had a lot of desserts displayed, but it was definitely limited throughout the business hours. They've partnered with U Dessert (Berkeley & SF Chain) to serve their delicious Mille crepes, Lava Cakes, and more; unfortunately, I wasn't to try them since they were sold out.
Parking is super convenient, if you put in CVS on your GPS, there is a huge parking structure there. It is 75 cents / hour before 6pm, and after 6pm it's free! It's just less than 5 minute walk from this location!
I would definitely come back again to try there other dishes! Their menu is super customer friendly; what I mean is that... there are pictures for every item, so you'll know what you're getting yourself into :)Helpful 7Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Jul 8, 2023
We got the seafood soup ($20) and the flaming beef ($29). We got two bowls of rice to eat with our meal ($1.50 for a bowl of rice). The seafood soup is sour (lemongrass!) and I liked the taste but just a heads up if you do not like that flavor. I do wish it had more seafood in the soup. The flaming beef comes on a skillet and it will come to you sizzling! It had beef, some tomato, mushroom, and pineapples.
After our meal, we got mango sticky rice ($10)! This was DELICIOUS! It is beautifully plated. The mango is sweet. The sticky rice is hot and coated in the coconut milk.
The staff are nice and checks in on us during our meal.
The bathroom is located towards the back and seems to be a shared bathroom? I am not sure. Honestly, I would just go to the bathroom elsewhere if it is not urgent lol. This is not the fault of the staff or restaurant though.
We will definitely be back for the mango sticky rice and to try other dishes!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - 8106294Aug 16, 2023
Came in on a weekend night. Street parking can be tricky sometimes. The place is nicely decorated and very bright. There was no wait so we got seated quickly and served water.
What we ordered:
- Golden squid: tasted fresh, a bit crunchy and very chewy. The squid came with a dipping g sauce that was a bit sweet and tangy although the squid by itself was flavorful already. It came with some carrots and lettuce on the side.
- Spicy fried rice: wow this was one of the most flavorful fried rice dishes I've had! I could taste the strong wok flavor. The portions felt a bit small but it's enough food if you order other dishes to try!
- Crispy duck with peanut sauce: the skin was def crispy! The pieces of meat were the right amount and it's came with mushrooms, bell peppers and onions. Was oilier than I would've liked but would def recommend bc it was so flavorful with basil and the right amount of spice.
Would recommend this place if you're in the area! There are a variety of flavorful dish options which are cooked with different spices. Their desserts, especially they crepe cakes, looked so yummy and would def come back to try!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - May 12, 2023Updated review
Long overdue for an update, plus I need to link all my pictures together. :)
Quality/Quantity -
Pad Phrik Khing Signature Dish, add Eggplant (for $2.50 more) - More spicy than we expected, especially since we asked for medium. Mild next time, LOL.
Pork Pad Thai - Pad Thai is my go to item, you would know that if you are following.
Beef Fried Noodles (Pad See Ew) - My daughter's go to item, you would know if you are following.
Mango Sticky Rice - Always done well, generous portion. Getting old, but also our go to item.
Atmosphere -
We have been coming here since we moved to Alameda.
Love the remodel! Wish I had before and after pictures...
So much brighter, and it also makes the place seem larger.
Not that you can change it, but it would have been nice to NOT have a locked shared bathroom with your neighbors.
Service - Good.
Price - $66, not including tip.
Price does not matter to us in this location as it is my daughter's favorite Thai restaurant and what she wants, she gets, LOL.
Owner Suggestion - Keep up the good work. Thanks for the remodel, it was needed. We will continue to be loyal customers.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 8Oh no 0Dec 31, 2021Previous review12/18/21

Pad Thai Chicken - always done well, my go-to order.
Pad See Ew Beef - my daughter's go-to order; this is her favorite Thai restaurant.
Fried Rice with Sausage - new for us, it was good; my family enjoyed it more than I did.
Brown Rice - added last second because I wanted it with the Mango Curry sauce!!
Mango Sticky Rice - always done well, generous portion.

Had a wonderful lunch experience- place was nice, food was great, ambiance was perfect for lunch and service was awesome Street parking was available.
Everything we ordered were so yummy and will definitely be bringing family and making this a staple.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 19, 2023
Toomie looks deceptively small when you enter, but the space is quite long with a good amount of seating.
My family was seated right away when we arrived. We ordered several items, including Pad Thai (chicken), Pad See Ew (Beef), Tom Yum Soup, Thai fried rice (chicken), and the yellow curry (chicken), another Thai fried rice (shrimp).
The standout to me was the Tom Yum Soup - it was fragrant and had nice flavor. Although the fried rice was a little salty, the shrimp gave the fried rice good flavor. For the remaining items, they were standard. In my opinion, the chicken in all the dishes were really dry and the curry didn't have much curry flavor in my opinion. It was a little too light.
Service, however, was good. Our server checked in on us and was attentive to make sure that we had everything we needed.
Toomie's is a relatively quick spot for Thai food. However, I may opt to instead try other items the next time.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 1 - Jun 17, 2023
It was lunch time, and I was in the Alameda area, with a taste for Thai food. Toomie's is a small, elegantly decorated, Thai restaurant. We ordered two dishes. The Choo Chee Catfish and the Spicy Noodles with tofu. Both dishes were splendid. Also, asked for Thai chilies with fish sauce.
The Catfish came as battered deep fried strips that were stir fried with green beans in a spicy sauce. The dish hit all the right notes. The fish was tender, the beans had the perfect crunch and color, and the sauce had optimum flavor and addicting taste. The noodle dish was also a hit. There was fragrance, the vegetables not over cooked and the tofu was seared, sliced and mixed well with the appetizing flat noodles. Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. This was a good and impromptu restaurant find, that is worth another visit.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
