Thumbs up!
I vouch for everything about this place. I've been coming here ever since I can remember. Anna, you better hope you don't meet me in a dark alley, because I will defend the honor of the old ladies you bad mouth by giving you a stern talking to. -

Tony's has been around since 1972 which was probably the last time it was redecorated! It's dark and the chairs are falling apart but the food is priced well and Good! The steak mexicana is one of the best meals on the mountain and make sure you wash it down with a pitcher of Maggies! The majority of the staff are original issue as well so give yourself ample time for dinner.

There's something about Tony's that will always be home to me. Sure, it's a little slow, but it *does* get awful busy for weekend dinner!
The margaritas here are some of the best around... they're probably made by the original inventor of the margarita, as all of the wait staff here is older than dust (as mentioned in the previous review). They still know all our family by name, though!
Very cheap, decent food. The sopapillas are very awesome, and I otherwise recommend the Arroz Con Pollo and PVQ (Pancho Villa Quesadilla!) Mmm! That super-dry rice they have is surprisingly tasty, too.
Just don't glue your napkins to the table with honey. They really hate that. -

Ok - So this place is a bit dark and looks like it has been left unchanged since it opened in 1972 - but, DAMN! The food is ALWAYS consistent - The margaritas are outstanding and I recommend a pitcher! I have tried everything on the menu and they have yet to let me down. A local on the mountain since 1980 - this place is a staple on the mountain.
Great prices and you gotta try the Soppies with lots of honey! -

Locals favorite! Good prices......yes, the waitresses are 107 years old...but they are nice and you will get good Mexican food every time. You can't go wrong here.....good alternative to Papagayos in the Village. Fair prices. Only open at night......maybe only open on weekends? Best to call ahead. The last I heard the restaurant was for sale because owner died? I was there last week and had a great meal! The only real draw back is that the waitresses stand outside and smoke constantly! Update: I think the owners wife(widow) closed the place....all waitresses had to go to owners wifes house and get last checks....she slid them under the door and that was it! The place was mired in a family dispute over who would get what after the owner died. Sad.

The food is always consistent. The waitresses have their act together in making sure your drinks are filled and have plenty of chips and salsa. It is a wonderful place to dine with large parties.

There are a few things one needs to understand before going to Tony's. The first is that the restaurant is over 30 years old, the owner is probably around 157 years old, and the waitresses are pushing 107 years old and have no customer service skills. No matter what night you go to Tony's there will be at least a 30 minute wait, even if no one is in the restaurant. Your dinner will take at least an hour and a half.
Now if you understand these things you will stand a better chance of enjoying your meal. Don't get me wrong Tony's is a staple in Arrowhead, great food, and super cheap. I don't think the prices or menu has changed since they opened their doors 30 years ago. The sopapillas are worth the wait, and the history and ambiance is worth at least one trip if you're just visiting.
Tony's is the poster child for small town restaurants. No matter how bad the service and wait is; locals will continue frequenting Tony's and that's not necessarily a bad thing. -

I love Tony's! I've been going here since the early 1980's. It was one of the places my parents took us on a regular basis. Their tacos are sooo good, and I love the house dressing on the dinner salad. There's a flavor the food has that you just don't get anywhere else. Get the sopapillas, they're VERY good. I like to put salsa in them and eat that way.
The place is a time machine, its the same now as it was in the 70's, just not as happening as it was then.
