This is pretty much the only chinese food I will eat. I haven't tried a thing here that I didn't like. It's definitely a local favorite. I don't know anyone who doesn't like it. The staff is friendly, although scrambling a lot because they are always busy.
It can be a bit stuffy in there so I usually order take-out and feast at home. The portions are large and the flavors are great. I reccommend the teriyaki chicken, mongolian beef and prawns. (I'm allergic to shrimp, but had to try it anyways. It was very tasty. Now I peel the breading off and dip in their sweet & sour sauce [so I won't die] and it's delicious!) -

This is the best Chinese food in Oroville. Picking the best restaurant in Oroville is like picking a husband from a retirement home, not much to chose from. Everyone here says this place is great but Orovillians are easy to please apparently. I've eaten here a few times and it does the trick if I'm craving chinese food but it's not great. The soup of the day, usually chicken noodle is yummy and soothing. I ordered mixed vegetables recently and got a plate of greasy bok choy stalks with a few pieces of broccoli sprinkled in. The chow mein is greasy. My boyfriend has enjoyed the beef noodle soup and the orange tofu is okay but becomes too sweet after a whole plate. I will dine here again because I have little choice in this area but coming from the Bay Area, it does not wow me.

Was here last weekend while visiting my friends hometown of Orroville. This is some really good ole fashion greasy Chinese. Big portions and pretty good!
I had sweet and sour pork and beef and broccoli. Nothing stood out but it was really tasty! -

We usually love this place. The past few times we went there, the service was horrible. All the food was over flavored with soy sauce. Hot and sour soup was unedible as it tasted like the base of the soup was a bottle of soy sauce!
Servers dont ask if everything is ok anymore, no refills on water or soda. Basically bussed our own round table, dishes were piling up from the unedible soup and nobody cleared the dishes when they brought out the rest of the food. Turning into a really horrible place! They may have made it 100 years, but if they keep it up i dont give them to 101! -

I have had 3 star experience at this place, but today I ordered the lunch Veggie Shrimp plate. The huge plate came out and I ate one shrimp, only to send it back. It was smothered with rancid garlic. The kind that comes powdered in a container. I do like garlic but only if it is fresh and used respectfully. It was so awful a few hours later, my mouth still wreaks and tastes of the offensive garlic! My partner shared his kitchen sink plate. The little bit I had, gave me a weeks worth of salt.
In addition, the smooth muscles in my intestines have loosened up! arrr!
So the next time I am asked to go to dine there, I know doubt will pass. -

Oh, man. You do not know what you're missing until you've been here. Tong Fong Low's (I could do so much with that name, I tell you... but I won't) is pretty frickin good. I ordered the general tsao's chicken and the low mein (known here on the left coast as chow mein... which is a totally different dish back east) and it was fantastic. I'm not even that big of a fan of Chinese food but this was awesome. It was spicy and sweet the way food should be. The spicier the better, I always say. And they're not afraid to accommodate.
I feel like in spite of the lack of, well, everything else.... this area has some pretty decent food. Hmmmm.... Interesting. May need to do more delicious research.
I wiill most certainly be coming back here.Listed in: North State Must Haves, Ugh. Oroville.

If you're not familiar with Oroville, you might find the neighborhood around Tong Fong Low a bit on the sketchy side, with the scavengers digging through the dumpsters for cans and the homeless dogs watching over their homeless masters it can be a bit daunting. If you ARE familiar with Oroville, you'll know that this is one of the good neighborhoods, but I digress with my disdain for Oroville, my point being, that there is no reason to go out of your way for Tong Fong Low. The service is friendly, the interior campy, and only could be considered "authentic" if you're looking for the Chinese restaurant featured at the end of a Christmas Story.
The portions are extremely large, but the flavors were either too bland or too sweet. This is one case where yelp let me down with an overly optimistic rating. -

I grew up eating at TFL aka Charlie's so it will always have a place in my heart! It is definitely an Oroville institution! They offer delicious dishes at affordable prices. Portions are huge and are perfect for sharing when served family style! I love their chow mein, noodle & won ton soups as well as many of the chicken, beef, BBQ pork and vegetable dishes. Combination plates/dinners are good options if you want to try different items without ordering seperate entrees.
They offer takeout which we get often and it was always ready at the said time. The restaurant is always busy and has expanded the dining room so there is plenty of room to accommodate everyone, including groups.
I love that the staff, especially Sandy, always remembers what I ordered and even now when I come home for a visit, Sandy always remembers me. She also has a good rapport with the locals that eat their too!
They're closed on Mondays.
I love eating here when I come home to visit!Listed in: The O

Love the food....hate the styrofoam take out boxes. Sandy needs to do something about how environmentally unfriendly dining to go is.....also, the last time we ate here my husband pulled a long asian black hair out of his mouth.....big big dinner foul...yuck...However, usually the food is fabulous and the place couldn't be cuter if it tried.

I am painfully addicted to Tong Fong Low. The pot stickers in particular. It's ridiculous how much money I've spent here since I moved down the street from the place. Their food is always good, but I've gotta say i try pot stickers at every Chinese place I go and have yet to find any better than these!

I am not a big chinese food fan, but everytime you mention chinese food in Oroville you hear the same thing "Tong Fong Low"s". Well, I will have to agree. The food was good. I had the vegetable fried rice and the asparagus and shrimp in black been sauce. It was excellent! I will go back.

I've been going here all my life. Same with my mom. Food is great (although maybe not as good as it used to be), prices are fair, and the staff is great.

The egg Foo young is amazing but I am not a fan of their food. The chicken dishes are usually stringy pieces of dark meat and when fried for sweet and sour they are like leather. The soups are. greasy tasteless broths The service is usually pretty good though

Sometimes the food has too much sodium but otherwise pretty good. I always have the wonton soup and it seems they put too much soy sauce or something.
