Huntington Beach, CA
The girl who did my belly button was very nice and knew what she was doing. It was fast and easy :) I wish I knew her name I would recommend her!
Warning, this place is VERY expensive. The charged me over $70 total for a belly button ring, and that didnt include actually getting it pierced. Which was another $25.
Go if you can afford it. But there are cheaper places in the area who will do just as nice of a job for a lot cheaper. -

I wish I could give this place negative stars. I got a few different piercings here almost 2 years back. I went with a friend of mine and she had said that this place was legit she knew tommy and her brother use to live with him. I had heard awful things about this place and the customer service but wanting to trust my friend (BIG MISTAKE!!!) I decided to go. Plus he had done her belly button years back and it had healed nicely. Well needless to say when I went in for my piercing tommy was nothing but rude. I was nervous and was holding the table with my hand and he started yelling at me and telling me to let go of the table and to shut up and sit there. I told him I was nervous and he just told me to shut up and rudly asked if I really wanted my piercings and kept saying how he didn't have time for this. Pretty much made me feel like he was doing me a favor even tho I was paying him and it was expensive at that! One of my piercings was rejected and when I spoke with him before I got the piercing he said it would not be rejected. He said piercings are only rejected if you don't take care of them properly. Guess it was my fault for trust him on that matter. Two more of my piercings he made too deep and I tried to tell him before he pierced them that they were going to be too deep but he just got really rude and told me to shut up and told me how he knows what he is doing and how he is the piercer and I am not. I went back a week after with my concern about the piercing and how deep it was. He just told me it was natural swelling and then sent me into a room with a girl who worked there to show her. I asked her if she was a piercer and she said no she just started a few weeks ago. I asked him if he would look at it since he had pierced it and he yelled at me and told me he had no time to look at it. THE SHOP WAS EMPTY!!!! After the girl looked at it they tried to sell me different jewelry at full price and told me that it was just my skin and my bodys fault. I have shown a few different piercers and they have all said that the piercer who did it is a joke and pierced it too deep.
Needless to say tommy t's is a joke and I will never and have never gone back! I wouldn't even let my worse enemy go here for a piercing! I would rather have my friend pierce me in their bathroom then go back to tommy t's! -

Awful...awful....awful. Tommy is extremely unprofessional, rude and degrading. Went there to purchase a nose ring and have it custom to my nose. When he was taking out the old piercing and putting in the new one....he did not bother tell me what he was doing and hurt my nose. He told me my piercing was pierced incorrectly and I was pretty much stupid. I will never return to this place.

I went here back in 2006. I went to get my lip pierced, i was SO nervous, I remember my mom took me, and tommy was such an ASS!!! I remember sitting of the table with the clamp on my lip,and I said 'will this be fast?' and he shot back ' don't talk to me back here, this isn't the time!!' and at that time, I was super shy. Then, I came back here again in 2009? Anyway, I got my tongue done, but he was actually real cool to me.. He kinda hit on me. (gross) anyway, this place is a hit or miss.. I wont be going back here though. He's seem to be a little off.

**First off...for all the yelpers that complain about the $$....**
If you want JEWELRY that is going INTO YOUR BODY, don't you think it should be QUALITY?? We've been coming here for years and not one thing has swelled or gotten infected, and I know its because of the quality. If you want a poor quality, shady job then go somewhere else. But if you want quality jewelry then this is the place to come :) . Tommy & Lucy are super CLEAN, they have safety guidelines everywhere on the walls. I came in here to get my ear re-pierced after it closed up and Tommy & Lucy already knew how to handle it, Tommy personally suggests the piece that is the best for your body and the better quality. You pay more but its better to pay now then in the end (when your stuff becomes infected and gets rejected) He picked out the best , quality peice for my ear and truly knows his stuff. Lucy is super clean and does it precisely. We've been coming here for a good 10 years and his product doesn't change. This isn't no mall piercings either so if you want a cheap job head down to your nearest mall.Listed in: When I want to escape from…

That tommy guy? HAHA! complete douche. The prices? Complete rip off.
How can two belly rings cost 180? And I had no choice but to buy it cuz one stupid girl who works there tells me to try it on! Im like, are u suree? And shes like yah totally fine. Sooo the whole time I am unscrewing my original belly ring, shes standing there & watchng me. THEN, AFTER I do actually try it on, she says "ohh ur going to have to pay for that now" WAAAT THEE HELL? She knew what I thought she meant & she has to tell me after just sooo I buy the effing 100 dollar belly ring.
Anyways, save ur self frm going here. service is shitty & prices are damnnn high

Went in there to get a new piece of jewerly for my monroe, and he was a total dick. He started talking about body jewelry like I was a fucking idiot and i didn't know anything. Then he yelled at some poor girl who was working for him RIGHT in front of me.
Such an asshole! I'd rather pierce myself with a rusty nail than go to him again. -

I just had a great experience here, although I did not get a piercing, I was just looking for a retainer for my daughters nose piercing. The girl was very friendly and gave us more information here than we got from where my daughter actually got pierced. It was very pricey, but we will go back when my daughter gets another piercing. The only bad part was that I didn't ask for the girls name. Sorry friendly, helpful lady :(

After 3 months I feel like I'm entitled to an update. This place is dirt in my book. First off over freakin priced. All of it, the service to the jewelry. Second, outdated instructions on aftercare. I still have the paper that says use Dial to clean the piercing. If you look on the actual bottle of Dial, it clearly says not for open wounds which a piercing is. Third, the jewelry she sold to me was NOT appropriate for freshly pierced ears. I ended up getting seamless continuous hoops, horrible recommendation. The hoops aren't really seamless, therefore the part where the two sides met kept getting caught in the piercing reopening the wound and not letting it heal properly. The place I went to fix all this was really surprised that anyone would make such a recommendation for fresh piercings. I ended up getting all four taken out and replaced with hoops with the tiny ball to prevent the opening from getting caught in the piercing. I spent over 350 bucks at tommy ts and it wasn't even worth the drive to get there much less that much money.

Look, I've been pierced by a lot of different people in my life. Call it piercing A.D.D., call it indecisiveness overload, call it whatever you want but let me just say that Yelp never lies. This place is really a hit or miss and unfortunately for me it was a serious miss. I'm sorry, but a professional piercer of 30 years should know how to pierce a goddamn septum STRAIGHT (and don't tell me it's my nasal anatomy, asshole, because that was fine when I came in here) and do so without having to pierce me TWICE in one sitting. Anyway, give it a try if your little heart so desires but I'd personally prefer a more enjoyable piercing experience...one that involves a little communication and maybe even ends with me being happy with what I paid for. Just sayin'.

Review from Megan C.
San Lorenzo, CA
I don't know if Tommy has an old man cranky mid-life crisis problem or something but he just creeps me out! First of all, I feel like he has lost his touch because this place is not what it seems in all the earlier and positive reviews I read. I knew there had to be something wrong when he straight up yelled at his assistant in front of my face using extremely vulgar language.
I usually take pain really well, but he seemed like he didn't know what he was doing. I had my tragus pierced and it took 10 minutes! He was not gentle whatsoever and he was only concerned about getting my procedure done as soon as possible because there was a long line of customers outside. Not only did he mishandle my piercing (and I know this because he kept redoing the needle), but he had to stop about 2 times during the procedure to run to get things. During one of the times he got up to get something, my friend told me he went out and got a new earring... WHAT?! At this point I knew he didn't know what the f*** he was doing with my ear.
I'm just curious as to why my piercing hurt so damn much? I have 11 piercings total and I never sat on a table thinking that I'd rather die than endure the pain. The only reason why I decided to get my tragus pierced was because I was told and read on multiple forums that it didn't even hurt that much! So I'm wondering why he was twisting, pulling, and tugging my ear around when it's not even suppose to be complicated.
Seriously, stay away from this place and don't ever trust this guy. There's something about him that is questionable. Anyways, I wouldn't want to go to some place that treats his assistant like they're completely worthless. -
Review from Claire D.
Ok...so I have to update again because...I reeeaaally think Tommy needs to work on his customer service. It is expensive, and to get the attitude along with the price isn't really something I'd do again. I had gotten a Marilyn before and went to get it again, and they did one where it was just a long post with the back bent 90 degrees and tucked into my gum. I guess I should have asked sooner but I kind of just...trust that they know best and it'll work out. Mistake, perhaps.
I can't brush my teeth very easily and the end doesn't stay out of the way very well. I tried to ask him after the piercing what the advantage of that to a normal screw-on backing was and he basically just said "this is better in all ways" and patted me out the door. If he had done that BEFORE the piercing I wouldn't have gotten it/asked for a refund, or I probably could have just asked for a screw-on back. He gives you this attitude like "I know what I'm doing and you don't so just leave it to me and don't bother me with questions." There were a bunch of people waiting and he stepped out in his car and I was confused. I asked "who's doing the piercing today?" and the girl told me "Tommy". So we all sat there till he came back and proceeded to pierce everyone quickly and doubtless with cold efficiency.
I don't know. It seems like he hates people, whether or not he likes piercing. I'm sure there are places that are decent and have better customer service; it's just that I've been going here for years and so I figured it would be the place to go. It no longer is, in my opinion, and now that I live in SD I won't be going back. I just hope this heals fast so I can switch it out for something more comfortable.
Update: It got so bad I had to have it switched. The fishtail kept falling down and I even bit it a few times. When I opened my mouth it actually came partway out and since it's twisted, it caught and I thought for a second it had actually ripped, it hurt so bad. I couldn't even smile without it catching on my gums and tugging, and I was afraid it wouldn't heal at that rate so I got it fixed at Enigma in SD. They answered all my questions and fixed me up for way cheaper than Tommy's. My Marilyn in total was about $57 and that was WITH 20% off? I feel completely gypped, ESPECIALLY due to the horrible customer service. I will never go back to Tommy T's =(2 Previous Reviews: Show all »

As a hermaphrodite, most shops are not sure what to do with me when I come in for a good genital-piercing. I mean, they take a look and aren't sure what they are looking at exactly.
But not at Tommy T's. These guys can pierce anything with high quality every time. Sure. they charge a little more, but I came out of that shop feeling like more of a man/woman than ever with my new clock-ring.Listed in: Reviews That Suck Less Than My…

When I'm looking for a wide selection of jewelry, I immediately think of Tommy T's. They have multiple cases that snake around the entire store and I always seem to find something here. Tommy helped me out himself this time and pointed out the medical grade navel rings that ranged from $20 (your most basic crystal gem) to $100+ (b/c they're made from 24K) Huge selection but also a huge rip off I say..
I asked him how much it would cost to re-pierce the navel since mine had been out for 6 months and semi closed up and he said he'd be fine just doing it for me [for free] which I thought was cool of him.
He was busy juggling 4 customers at once on a Saturday afternoon.. totally should've been staffed with at least ONE other person. Anyway, he had my jewelry soaking in alcohol to clean it.. wtf? at Outer Limits before they put any piece of jewelry in you, they autoclave it no matter what. Then when I paid up, Mr. Tommy rang me up for $48 when the jewelry itself cost only $37.. charging me extra! He was so busy though that I just said forget it, it would've been another thing for him to do on top of it all. After waiting for a bit (which made me want to change my mind and just leave, but then again, I was already charged) I finally got my piercing in which took all of 2 minutes.
Tommy is what I'd like to call shady. Don't offer to do something for free then charge an extra amount to your customers! I figure that was his "tip" anyhow.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I love this place. Like many other people here already said, I went in and Lucy did me right!
Very clean and professional! You can't go wrong and they appreciate your business. The only place I would actually go out of my way to recommend for anyone thinking of getting something pierced. Bottom line the staff and everything is great no matter what you're going for.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars it was always pretty basic, just a counter, some area behind the counter, and a back room for privacy. Oh and a couple couches for kicking back whether waiting, feeling weak, or chilling out after getting yours done. Since they moved to a different unit it seems more clinical and extremely well laid out, and not quite so open which is (probably) a good thing, actually.
Not cheap per se, but you're paying for the piercing and the jewelry at the same time so it's basically worth it. If you just need cheap jewelry or decent quality, there are a million other places you can go, so don't complain.

Professional but in my opinion, it's too overpriced. The extremely wide selection of jewelry is overwhelming and the flourescent lighting makes me feel as if i'm in some sort of interrogation room. My cousin went there to get her cartilage pierced since the piercer I wanted to take her to was off work that day. Total it was $70. I had my industrial done at Bad Influence for $50, it was clean and professional and has healed up perfectly.
To ms Gabriella S who feels the need to call me a "retard":
You were at Tommy T's the same day I was? Wow, I'm glad you remembered considering I haven't been in there for over 6 months now. First off, Yelp is here to leave reviews. I haven't even said anything bad about Tommy T's except I feel that they're overpriced. There's no need to bag on Bad Influence if you haven't been there. That's where all my friends and I go and we haven't had a problem with it. Personally, I don't care if you don't like Bad Influence, say whatever you want about them, but if you're going to call me a name, I suggest you come up with something smarter next time and something that's not so first grade. K thanks. =) -

Wow, is Tommy T's still around? That is fantastic for them.
We went to Tommy T's years ago for all our piercing needs and the services was excellent, the people were very nice, and the piercings settled in perfectly. We're not sure how it is now, but about 5-6 years ago it offered great customer service and deserves a shout-out.
Side story: one time we were there and a dude was getting his nipples pierced. The dude seemed very agro but gun-ho about the whole deal. He got them pierced and pass out! The piercer slap the guy in the face and the dude still didn't wake up. Then the piercer asked us to get some water and some paper towels while he is making sure the dude doesn't fall off the table. The water is thrown onto the dude's face and he wakes up and he says.. "Whoa.. that was awesome". That dude straight had a trip after getting a piercing.. it was hilarious and memorable indeed or maybe you had to be there.
We wish the best of luck to Tommy T's! Keep up your good customer service and friendly faces! -

I've gotten 2 piercings done here, and I was very happy with both. My industrial and must recently my custom ear. They were both painful, as most needle work is...but they looked great and healed quickly. I really want to go back and have another done.

Review from Audra B.
For a piercing place that strives on being the best, having the best products, doing the best piercings, they could really, really work on having the best customer service.
When Tommy isn't piercing someone, he's outside chain smoking and drinking starbucks. (and he's almost always smoking directly outside the door- so much for being X number of feet by law right?)
I went in to get my tragus pierced and he was just SO short, which came off as super rude. He let the assistant go over all the aftercare, which I think would be better for him to do, seeing as how when I asked the girl a question she had no idea, and Tommy was already back in the piercing room with another client.
Personally, I would find somewhere else to go for your piercing needs. Find somewhere that actually seems happy and pleasant- like they actually want your business. -
Review from Derek W.
Huntington Beach, CA
This place is absolute garbage. Tommy T is like the Grinch of alternative culture in Orange County. He's rude as hell and so are the rest of his "professional" crew of scuds. The worst part about it all is that they don't know their own line of work! They constantly mutilate people but never in the way they intended and then when asked for help they tell you to go spit in the wind! The only good thing about the shop is their jewelry. The shop has a really nice selection of high-end body jewelry, and only for the low low price of... An arm or a leg maybe.

Huntington Beach, CA
I got my belly pierced here back in April 2009. My friend brought me here because she said they were great.
I remember they had a special at the time for $39.00 for the piercing, jewelry and after care. My friend who had gotten hers done a week before paid $95 for hers.
It took me awhile to decide whether or not I wanted to get pierced because I'm really scared of needles. I finally paid and Tommy rang me up. He was so fckn rude! He told me he was going to charge me an additional $5 for "numbing" medicine which felt like it was just a spray of those aerosol cleaners for the keyboard. He told me to go into a room and sit down. He said to stop acting like I saw so nervous because I would annoy the piercer.
The piercer was a short asian dude that was pretty much as rude as Tommy T. He told me since I was nervous, he would talk me through it and tell me what he was doing each step of the way. He was poking around near my belly when I was laying down, so I asked him what he was doing. Then he decided to yell at me and said to just let him do his job because he couldn't work with all the talking. So much far trying to calm my nerves and make me feel at ease.
When the piercing was done, he rushed me out of the room ASAP. Tommy T then told me that it was professional to tip the piercer and owner. I looked at him like he crazy, kinda laughed and walked out with my friend. On my way out, I said quite loudly that the service was shit, and my friend turned around to see a pissed off Tommy. -

I've gotten four piercings here over the past 5 years and every time they were completely professional and everything was surgically sterile. I will agree that they've gotten more and more expensive over time, but all mine have healed perfectly and were done with as minimal pain as I'd ever expect, so it's worth it to spend a bit more.
Oh, and there's nothing more fun than getting a piercing then eating greasy pizza at the little place in the center. Unless it were a tongue piercing... don't do that, I have a feeling it's a bad idea. -
Review from heather h.
Long Beach, CA
i got my cartilage pierced here about 6 years ago, without incident. they take care of their customers, adhere to all health precautions, and are big on sterilization of tools. the jewelery was a bit on the expensive side, but nothing that is outrageous (i think the jewelery for my barbell was about $40 for the highest quality).
go in for adjustments, and they'll fix you up for free--i have only had to get adjusted once in the last 6 years, and that's saying something. -
Review from alexis b.
I've been going to Tommy T's since I was 18 and now 25. They are very professional. My favorite person is Lucy, she pierces me and is very knowledgable on EVERYTHING that involves piercings and body jewelry. If you don't see anything in that you like, you can get a custom piece made for you. They are a little pricey BUT the body jewelry is high end. They've done my ear plug gauging, tongue gauging, nipple gauging, Vertical chest piercing and the Monroe and Vertical Lip I used to have. I keep all my piercings except the last 2 thanks to my job. I've never had any issues with Tommy T's. They are the best!!!

Came here yesterday to get my belly button repierced because on the radio I had heard it was the last day of the canned food drive. 1/2 off piercing price with a can of food..sweet! Had my belly button done the first time at the same shop. Came in, was helped quickly. In & Out within a half an hour && that was with two other girls being pierced before me. One of them got dermals around the collarbone & the other had her tongue pierced. Tommy told me my scars had healed up nicely- good to hear especially considering it'd been him that did it before. Lol. Within minutes I was walking out, my boyfriend was surprised at how quick it was. I was surprised how painless it was, even without numbing. I had heard getting pierced through scar tissue was horrible, but honestly, I remember the pain being a lot higher the three years ago I originally had it done. Yay!

Review from Sadia C.
The first time I came here was to buy a cartilage ring and was a bit skeptical because prices were so high compared to other places (jewelry runs anywhere from 20-200.00). I was originally going to HB tattoo just down the street to get all of my piercings and to buy the jewelry. While going to HB tattoo, I almost ALWAYS had issues with my piercings. I paid over $250.00 in just getting repierced or getting a piercing and having to take it out bc of problems. I was getting frustrated so I tried out Tommy T's. After getting a cartilate ring from him for around 40.00, my infection greatly decreased! I was super excited and came back a week later to get 3 other jewelry pieces switched out. It costs a bundle, but its definitely worth it since his jewelry is really good quality. I work in the steel business, so i can differentiate good metal from bad. Definitely definitely definitely recommend him to buy jewelry from!
I've never had anything pierced from him yet.
Tommy came off as rude to me in the beginning as well, but he's just serious about his job i guess. After the first time, however, hes much nicer and friendly.

I went here to get my nose pierced and it was a horrible experience... even up until two months ago. Let's start with Tommy... he was a little short which is understandable because he is by himself and busy. He displayed no sense of customer service and on top of that, I had SO MANY PROBLEMS with my piercing! It got infected a week after the initial pierce and never got better.
I was later told that not enough room was left on the bar for my nose to swell during the healing process.... which is why it never healed! Needless to say, I had a huge bump on the piercing until I finally removed it. I was extremely disappointed because of the reviews posted about this place. I would never recommend anyone to go here... there are much better places. -

Review from W S.
San Mateo, CA
I think I found this place through Yelp, and with the decent reviews, I decided to get some help with trying to "fix" my navel piercing. I basically had it pierced elsewhere, and it was very infected, and I had wanted to see if it could be saved or not.
I know I don't look like the type to be going anywhere near a piercing studio, but I was seriously ignored for like, the longest time. Tommy was cold and did not make me feel welcome at all. In fact, even though there were no other customers around, I felt he was impatient with me. In the end, I decided to just have the piercing removed, for $6 mind you, and the procedure took less than...10 seconds. I guess the part that irked me the most was the fact that he did not even bother to disinfect the area before or after. I was a bleeding mess, and nothing, not even a band-aid or something?
Oh yes, when I was paying, I didn't have $6 on me, I just had $5 cash. You had to purchase over $10 to use your credit card, and I didn't have enough for that. I didn't see why he couldn't have let me go with just paying $5, especially since the procedure was hardly worth that. (I hadn't asked beforehand how much it would cost since I assumed it wouldn't be more than $5.) He instead let me go outside to rummage through my car for that extra dollar, which I did not have, and I ended up just buying that stupid sea salt soak (to have it add up to $10, the soak alone was $9, so I payed $15 instead of just $6!!!). I only used the soak once or twice afterward, because it healed on its own. What a waste! I sooo overspent...
My personal experience gives it a one-star, and it gets an extra star as credit to other people's experiences. They do have a huge selection, and the piercing room is very brightly-lit and sanitary. -

They have a HUGE selection of jewelry. Don't let the flyer they pass out on Main St. fool you - the piercing is far from free. They have you purchase aftercare, which is sea salt now, for like 30 bucks! Overall though, it's definitely good piercing, and I won't be pierced by anyone other than Lucy anymore. My first piercing here was done with Tommy and he felt a little forceful to me. Lucy is much more patient and takes the time to ensure the piercing is going to be right before going through with it. I always call ahead to make sure she is there.

Ugh. Don't go here. I got an industrial put in a few years ago, and not only did they trick me into buying the bogus numbing stuff (which didn't work in the least), but the piercing got infected within weeks. The customer service was terrible, and they don't bother to be polite to you unless you are buying the most expensive jewelry in the store. Also, Tommy, who was the one who pierced me, made no effort to make me feel comfortable. He seemed like he was mocking the fact that I was nervous. Seriously, stay far far away from this place

Review from Tiffany L.

This place is the ultimate no at this point. My best friend and I went in to look at belly rings and Tommy was working along with a new front of the house girl. Anyway, the girl was helping a couple look for a nose stud and she had shut the case door but forgot to lock it and Tommy flipped the fck out at her in front of everyone. I thought it was super unprofessional in the aspect that you simply don't behave like that in front of customers. To top it off, now that I have many more piercings since my last piercing from here, I realized how Tommy T's is run on making money and that's all that matters. I go to Enigma in San Diego and they charge about the same prices...actually maybe a little less but they use the best grade metal on you. To top it off, if you ever have a problem and need to come back for cleaning or changing a piercing...they'll do it for free! They won't charge you the pathetic $6. Pretty much, this place is all about making money and they don't give a damn about their customers.
