This place isn't much to look at - you go in and there are buckets upon buckets of loose flowers laying around, and there isn't much room to walk around. However, they make kick-ass arrangements! And you can tell them how much you can spend and they'll choose the flowers your poor ass can afford (i.e. $15 gets you the teeniest but sweetest bouquet of orchids).

Tom Thompson and his team provided bouquets and table arrangements for my wedding on 10/10/15 and I cannot tell you how absolutely delighted I was and continue to be with the results!

Tom took a rough vision I had and made it reality that far, far exceeded my expectations.

Tom and his team are accommodating and patient with the myriad of questions I asked before my wedding.

The price for our bouquets and arrangements was very reasonable. They even threw in extra garland for us the morning of the wedding. We were so touched by this sweet surprise!

I am so grateful to have had the chance to work with Tom Thompson Flowers and would recommend them to anyone! Thank you so much, Tom and team!

Just had our 20th anniversary arrangement delivered and Tom Thompson Flowers has exceeded expectations once again. This is our go to florist - great service, unique arrangements and a willingness to go the extra mile for their customers.

After looking for a florist in Lansing to deliver flowers to my aunt, I found myself wishing there was a Tom Thompson in their area (not that there was anything wrong with the flowers that I got).
When I was getting to know my husband, I would get a beautiful arrangement from Tom Thompson every couple weeks. What a special gift!
The orchids always took my breath away. The arrangements were very generously sized and when there was a gift to go with the arrangement, they always tastefully incorporated it into the flowers.
They are some of the most beautiful flowers I have seen. Flowers for a lady? These are the ones that she will remember.  My husband sent me Tom Thompson and we are married now.  Was it the flowers?  Buy some for a gal and find out! Makes me wish I was 21 again.

I received a lovely arrangement of Tom Thompson's flowers from a friend. The arrangement was packed with roses and iris, and was a beautiful addition to the Easter table.  The flowers lasted a solid 8 days, and even then I had some roses in individual vases still going strong!

I've ordered from them in the past (didn't think to leave  review at the time!) and will definitely do so again.

The one star is for customer service........the flowers that were delivered to my sick  friend were "very beautiful but didn't last more than a few days".......i called on May 2nd to have them delivered to her home and put the charge on my credit card over the phone.  It took three weeks and more than several phone calls  and rather annoyed sounding employees at their shop for me to get a receipt emailed to me today.   What kind of business gets annoyed with a customer for asking for a receipt?

I was impressed that Mr Thompson took the time to respond to an unhappy customer. I ordered flowers for my wife over the phone from out of town for our hotel room.  The flowers were top quality and exceeded my expectations.  If I need flowers in Ann Arbor again I will certainly be a repeat customer

I had a gorgeous centerpiece made up by Tom Thompson's that was wonderfully scented, antique English Rose varieties - beautiful! Also have some unusual orchids and tropicals. Willing to work within your budget, very creative staff. I had a fairly small wedding, and Tom's did my bouquet. my Maid of Honor's, all the corsages and buttonniers. Were professional, I described what I wanted and they fashioned them to a T - all were extremely well-made, looked stunning (had all fall-colored roses with sprays of berries, ribbon, and wine, gold, chartreuse colored orchids...yum!)

It's good to call ahead to schedule to a talk with staff if you need a fancier arrangement - as they can be frightfully busy at times. Also one of the most expensive florists in town, but they're worth it.

I thought about flowers for my wife for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I called and figured i would have to go and pick them up since i waited till the day of our anniversary. Pam was very helpful and professional over the phone. She even had my arrangement delivered to my wife at work. The arrangement was awesome, or as the wife says beautiful (LOL) and they were premium flowers that lasted almost two weeks in the vase they supplied. Tom Thompson Flowers is my go to place for flowers for years to come.

I went here based on the high Yelp reviews to buy my fiance some flowers for her birthday. What I got were some really expensive, really bland flowers with broken stems. Lucky for me she loves me for more than flowers, because if our relationship was based on this sickly collection, this birthday would turn into a breakup.

I asked for a nice birthday bouquet and told them she likes roses, lilies, and orchids. The woman gave me a thin collection of green plants. Every plant is green. There's different varieties, but all of them green. Even the white roses look a little pallid in amongst all the shrubs. I wasn't thrilled, but against my better judgment, I took them.

I gently put them flat on the passenger seat of my car in the same position they had been laying on the counter in the shop, and drove about 5 minutes home. Got them in, took off the wrapper, and discovered that not only does the bouquet resemble a page from one of my Swamp Thing trade paperbacks, but two of the plants have broken stems. I tried putting them into a vase to hide the broken stuff (a skinny one that usually holds about 6 roses, tops) and discovered that they don't fill the vase, and thus the whole arrangement flops around unceremoniously. To top it off, the thing smells like grass.

I should've just manned up, told the woman the flowers were ugly, and gone to a grocery store. It would've been half the price, half the time, and at least double the result. Maybe this place is great if you have thousands to spend on a wedding or something, but for walking in and getting a bouquet, they're a waste of time and money.

Disclaimer I've never bought flowers here, sorry I was a starving student while in Ann Arbor. But I know they have to be super high end based on what didn't make it into their bouquets. Whenever I needed a few flowers to spruce up my abode, I'd slip by the back of this place at night and see what was being tossed out as not worthy. I could usually peel off a few of the outer petals and still have a pretty striking bouquet for my room.

A big thank you to Tom Thompson for helping to brighten this starving students home many times.

My daughter and I went in for a consultation for her wedding.  Tom was so gracious and helpful.  He also was very respectful of our budget.  We put a deposit down on the spot...hope the wedding flowers are as good as we are expecting!
I am adjusting my original review because I was somewhat disappointed by the flowers at my daughter's wedding.  The bridal bouquet was gorgeous but the bridemaid's bouquets were very small for the price ($70 apiece).  The coursages for the grandmothers, mothers and godmothers were not imaginative at all...just white flowers.  I specifically asked for white roses with purple trim on my coursage...both in writing and in person.  I recevied two lillies with no purple trim.   I did like the centerpieces, but again, they were rather small.

Not only were the flowers a disappointment, but I didn't get what I thought I was paying for, and this was for my Mother's funeral!  Being from out-of-state, this order  was all done over the phone, and I spoke directly with the owner to order.  I told him I wanted an arrangement of calla lilies for the urn table and another arrangement to be brought up during the offertory and placed on the altar.  I had been drawn to his floral shop by the beautiful pictures of arrangements on his website.  We discussed the calla lily arrangement in detail.  I had specifically told him that I understood the table to be small, and that the vase needed to be small in order to fit.  We discussed the offertory arrangement in detail also.  Both of these arrangements were on his website and even numbered, so there was no confusion as to what I wanted and was ordering.  He told me he was getting the calla's in and would have them by the time of the funeral.  He also mentioned the garden roses that he would place in the offertory arrangement, which he did do, to his credit.  When I arrived at the church an hour before the funeral, the calla lily arrangement was missing. The funeral director called the florist and was told I had only ordered the one for the offertory.  I was in shock, as we had spoken at great length about the calla arrangement.  THESE FLOWERS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE URN TABLE!!!
I called the owner this morning and was told that he thought I had only ordered the offertory arrangement and that there was nothing he could do!  He was very callus over the phone.  He had asked me how much I wanted to pay before I ordered the flowers, and I told him $140.  He charged $20 for delivery, so I paid $120 for flower arrangement #16.  Ok it was pretty, and also pretty tiny!  He took advantage of someone from out of state, coming for her Mother's funeral.  All I can say is, if you want to use this florist, you need to be aware and prepare to be disappointed, or at least you need to order from someone else in the shop who might be a bit more ethical and with a better memory!  All I can say is, it was a real shame what he did, to take advantage of someone and at one of the saddest times of their life.

I have not been in their shop, so my review isn't based on the quality of their flowers, only on the customer service I received over the phone.
I called in to make an appointment for a wedding consultation, and the woman explained that they won't schedule a consultation until after you book them as your florist.  When I asked how one was to know if they were the right florist for the job, she explained that I could come look at their flowers, but that since it took time to do a consultation, it was not worth the effort for the florist.  I was surprised by this attitude, you'd think that since a wedding brings in thousands of dollars, that it'd be worth their time to try to gain a client.  Guess they'll stick mostly to bouquets instead.

A friend sent me flowers from this shop. The flowers are beautiful (especially since it's a totally colorless winter day outside), the vase is pretty, and the shop phoned to set a convenient time for delivery. This is my only experience here, but I'll definitely call this shop if I want to send someone some flowers.

It's nice to have a shop on one's list, since quite a few other florists have gone out of business in the recent past. Sure, you can get flowers at a grocery store -- but service has its points.

AND: at a University Musical Society concert a stunning all-green flower arrangement on the stage was credited  as the "generous contribution" of Tom Thompson.
