BurgerQuest Review:

Burger: 3
average greasy spoon diner burger. fresh ground beef. pretty tasty

Bun: 4
fresh tasting sesame seed bun, grilled. really good.

Toppings: 2.5
average stuff, the usual tomato, lettuce, onion, mayo

Accoutrements: 3
krinkle cut fries, which i like, plus a whole menu of diner staples like breakfast and shakes, etc

Atmosphere: 3
its pretty much the quintessential college hangout. it was kind of dead when we were there, but on the weekends after the bars close this place is pretty rowdy, and a lot of fun. they have a little convenience store and an arcade in the back.

Overall: 3.1
The burger is surprisingly pretty good for a greasy spoon college diner. They have 3 sizes, the ho burger, the super ho, and the mega ho, as well as a double decker other burgers.  And it's a must visit you've never been there and if you're in Lexington to party. Make sure t tell them it's your first time.

This Lexington hole in the wall is a must visit if you want to have a taste of the University of Kentucky Wildcat culture. This is an all purpose place, part breakfast diner (breakfast here is good and inexpensive), part pub, and part sociology experiment. I love this place, the energy, and the intersecting social strata. It's not fancy but the food is good and afforable, which is why it is a college hangout. I love to come here to write and have a bite. They must be open 24 hours because I have been here at all hours. If you want to experience "Wildcat" culture or just want to people watch, this is a fun place to grab breakfast and coffee or a beer and a burger. And if it's your first visit, be sure to mention it to the cashier when you order, that is, if you want the FULL Tally-Ho experience, otherwise, don't do it.

Cheers

I highly recommend the cheese tots. They will change your life.
Ok...so this isn't awe-inspiring food (had ya fooled, didn't I?). It is good to wander into when you need something that passes for coffee and some semblence of food at 2 in the morning after drinking your weight in tequila. Epitome of the greasy spoon and what's nice is they don't advertise themselves as anything but that. Simple.
If you don't like attention, don't tell anyone you're a "Ho Virgin" if you've never been there. Trust me.

Being in college at UK + late nights = Toll-Ho.  24hrs a day, Tolly-Ho is there to satisfy your drunken (and/or otherwise) munchies.  Greasy burgers and thick milkshakes and a usually entertaining crowd all make Tolly-Ho a place you just have to experience if you're partying in Lexington.

Parking is extremely limited and there can be a decent wait if you're there at about 2:30am.  But if you're there at 2:30am I hope you're not looking for a place to park anyway.

So, on a random road trip I was abducted in the middle of the night and found myself walking into Tolly Ho with no idea what was going on.  I distinctly remember my first skepticism at the sight of countless fraternity paddles hanging from the walls.  However, upon closer inspection I realized there was more than meets the eye to this quirky hole in the wall place.  Think Animal House meets Waffle House meets Chuckie Cheese.  Okay, so that's stretching it a bit...but still, this place takes eclectic to a whole new level.  Video games all over the place, loud and current music blaring from a juke box, and some loud bell keeps ringing every ten minutes which induces the locals to participate in a loud tirade that is highly entertaining.  If you are lucky enough to visit in the middle of the night with a partner in crime who has been to Tolly Ho and delights in making you squirm,  you will probably manage to lose your Tolly Ho cherry when the waitress clangs the bell obnoxiously, yells out over the crowd your name, and proclaims to the world your Tolly Ho virginal status has come to an end--all inducing the locals to yell out your name followed by friendly raucous greetings and half drunken salutations.  Seriously.  I'm not making this up!  My sidekick got some obnoxious looking version of cheesey tots covered with at least 4 or 5 ingredients I couldn't identify, while I went for the biscuits and gravy and a BLT.  It was good food, served late at night, with a care free fun attitude.   The menu has a  wide selection of down home food that tastes great and of course has to be terrible for you.   How they manage to keep the spirit going at nearly 3 am is beyond me.  Despite being in the heart of a sprawling college community, Tolly Ho seemed to draw a mixed crowd.  If you should one day find yourself in Lexington at 3am on a random road trip, you have to visit Tolly Ho.  In a world of bland, Tolly Ho stands out.  Every city should have a a greasy quirky place like this!  Good luck losing your Tolly Ho virginity!

Tolly Ho will always have a special place in my heart. It's been a hideaway for me for years now, with it's local diner simplicity and its fun-loving clientele. They have a menu you'd find in any other diner with food as greasy as you'd expect. It's everything one could desire at 3a.m. on a saturday night. Expect a line out the door when the sun goes down full of half-naked UK students with more alcohol in their blood than behind the counter.

Its college campus food.  aka, its a great place to go while drunk.  Greasy food for EVERYONE, i like the atmopshere which is always college kids up late or like i said, drunk.  There is not need to sugar coat it. :)  Parking is sometimes a mess if you dont walk.

Tolly Ho is very much a 'tradition'-based college late-night food joint. The place, regardless of how the food rates, is just one of those 'tradition' type places that everyone that comes to school just has to try.

General meal choices are the classic burger/fries, soft drinks, milkshakes, etc. and then other various food choices.

Open 24 hours, the place is a very popular late-night and post-bar eatery. Generally, the clientle post-bar is somewhat shady, and from time-to-time trouble ensues.

I personally wouldn't choose to eat there over any of the other places offered very close to the place, but if you are out at the bars and want a place close-by to grab a bite to eat at 2:30am, Tolly Ho is decent.
