Review from Pam Z.
They have the best hot stone bowl bibimbap (dol sot) in Syracuse. And awesome sushi. Like, tobiko with quail egg. Haven't tried to hibachi, but this was always a fave in grad school for quality sushi.
However, don't mistake this for a fusion place. It is both Korean and Japanese, in a loungey, laid back setting. Wait staff is quick and polite.Listed in: what got me through grad…

its good. but not the best in syracuse. Their service is quick but their rolls are pretty good. Its no kyoko in fayetteville.

Sake, Chirashi, miso soup, seaweed salad. All very good. Service was rushed due to lack of clientele. It is early on a Wed. I am satisfied and satiated at a reasonable cost for a sushi restaurant. I'll be back and I recommend a visit to those in the area.

Tokyo Seoul is always a good choice is you are looking for some good Asian cuisine.
There is a vast menu including some popular Japanese and Korean dishes as well as sushi. If you like, you can also get hibachi style service. The Bulgolgi and Bento boxes are some of my favorites.
The service is usually friendly and courteous. We go there often and I don't think we've had a disappointing meal yet. -

I was a frequent visitor here when I lived in the area, and it's one of the places that I miss the most (along with Pavone's) having left upstate NY. The owners are wonderfully friendly as are the young waitstaff and sushi chefs. If you've even there more than once, I'm sure you remember them as I am sure they remember you. Very nice people.
I've had Korean, sushi, as well as hibachi. Haven't really tried the Japanese dishes but that's because I tend to stick with a small selection of items that are sure things and haven't had a chance to even try the Japanese. Ok, to tell you the truth, I'm not a huge fan of teriyaki, etc. but the selection of other foods is big enough that I have more than enough other options.
The winners are definitely all of the sushi and hibachi entrees. The Korean stuff is very tasty. Love the seafood bibim bap in the stone pot, especiialy with the rice crust at the bottom. Unlike lots of other places, there's more than one piece of shrimp or scallop in the dish thankfully. Also love the kalbi, bulgolgi, and spicy shrimp. Grill at table or in the kitchen if you are scared of your own tabletop grilling skills.
I must say that I don't miss leaving upstate NY. The weather's horrible, there's not a huge amount of stuff to do there except watch college basketball and grass grow (for 2 weeks in the summer anyway), and the big lake's still polluted. But there are still reasons to come back, and my stomach sometimes overpowers my brain, and well, that's why I sometimes find myself back in Syracuse. Ok, I guess seeing friends has something to do with that too... (in case they are reading this review) -

Excellent sushi, great Korean dishes. Very friendly staff and owners. We have been coming here for years and love it. Hibachi tables available. Just go.

I love Tokyo Seoul. The people are so friendly and nice. I have eaten in both the restaurant area and the hibachi. The hibachi is a little expensive, but definitely worth trying - they even have coupons sometimes. I went here for my birthday and had a really nice time - even if the owner thought it was my 16th birthday when I was actually turning 22!
I have never had the sushi, but the hibachi - chicken, steak, seafood and everything that comes with it is so good. I have also had the fried rice in the restaurant part - also good. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Syracuse if not my absolute favorite.
I recommend the Hibachi over the restaurant, but either is nice. -

A favorite for special occasions among Syracuse students. Why? you ask. They are NOT strict on IDs, they keep the Saki flowing like water, and the sushi is delicious. Make reservations if you are coming on a Friday or Saturday night for sure. The restaurant will be full of rowdy college students using Tokyo as a pregame to their future Syracuse University festivities.
Recently Tokyo got rid of the glass shot glasses that made a fun noise when everyone in your party took a group Saki bomb. They've replaced them with plastic little cups that float in your beer ! Bring back the glass Tokyo ! -

If you want hibachi, it's going to be a bit of a wait, especially if you have a large party. But thankfully I'm a huge sushi fan. I've been to this establishment several times throughout my four years at Syracuse University, and I've always left with a big smile on my face each time. It's so surprising how good sushi can be, especially in the middle of New York State. The sushi is always fresh, and the fish literally melts in your mouth (as sushi sort of should do if it's fresh).
If you're not a sushi fan, their menu offers other dishes as well. They cater to both Korean and Japanese cuisines (hence the name of the establishment). The managers and wait staff have always been very friendly to us. They're very understanding if/when I wish to switch seats to be a bit further away from the door.
The restaurant is divided into three sections. Upon entering, to the left, you'll find the area for hibachi. Just as you enter, you'll find the bar, and plenty of seating for smaller parties (booths and tables). To the right of this, there's a larger dining room for larger parties.
Make reservations for hibachi ahead of time so you won't have to deal with the wait. Otherwise, if you're a small party, you won't have to wait very long for sushi and other dishes.Listed in: Sushi

Have only experienced the Sushi Bar. The service was nice, but it was hard to get the servers attention.
This was no knock off sushi, the prices are moderate.
Being the only sushi place in Syraucse I have been to, there is not much to compare it to. It tasted fresh anyway. -

Tokyo Seoul is great! The Korean dishes are very good as are the few Japanese dishes that I've tried. I don't do sushi but I've heard it is pretty good as well.
We keep meaning to get a group together to sit at the hibachi tables as they look like alot of fun.
We came here on Christmas day after a cancelled flight a few years ago and they could not have been nicer. The owner is Japanese but Christan but they were open anyway! She told us that she'd opened up as she knew there were people with no where to go on Christmas and she wanted to make sure they had a good place for dinner. -

When my client told me about this place, I thought it was "Tokyo Soul", instead of the real name, "Tokyo Seoul." So this place is owned by Koreans. I'm not sure about the Japanese portion of the restaurant, so I ordered the beef Bim Bi Bop, which is a beef plate with vegetables over rice. I ordered the Clay Pot version and the rice was good and crunchy. Good restaurant ambiance, friendly environment, and yummie strawberry gum given with the receipt.

Surprisingly decent Japanese food at a Japanese/Korean restaurant. Sit at the bar and chat with the affable sushi chefs. Thumbs up.

Service was good, clean place and sushi was not overly priced. Better than most sushi places but not the best.

Great sushi bar, this is really the only reason I go there. Its not a knock on the rest of the food, but I can get good food closer. If I want sushi, this is the place I go.

Can't remember if the food was good or not because I can't get over their poor service. I was excited to introduce my friends to my culture and what better way to start than with food; but all I got was embarrassment. We were having fun and enjoying ourselves until, 45 minutes in, when the owner asked us to rush through our dinner. Apparently they were over-booked with reservations and were hoping to turn the tables over every 45 minutes and thus we were creating a "back-up" with our leisurely dinner. Mind you, we had already ordered over $300 worth of food, for the 3 of us, with the intentions of trying everything and taking home lots of left overs. So we began rushing and even then it wasn't fast enough. She, the owner, must of reminded us at least another three times before we gave in and said f' it. We just paid and left without our leftovers. We didn't take the leftovers because we wanted to end our Seoul/Tokyo experience there!

Possibly the most disappointing sushi meal I've ever had. I was just in town overnight, and was expecting a hidden gem based on other reviews. The meal started well with a very good (though overpriced) seaweed salad. But the sushi barely tasted like anything. The tomoyo roll was not only bland (I couldn't make out the individual tastes or textures of the rice, tuna, avocado and tempura crunch bits), but every slice of roll was completely covered by an enormous dollop of "spicy" mayo, that was vaguely orange, but tasted just like mayonnaise. I had to scrape it all off. An order of salmon sashimi was also very mediocre, and I was annoyed to find that while costing 50 cents more than an order of salmon sushi, you still only got 2 pieces of salmon. Service was good, but this was not worth the amount of money that I spent.
